On 31st December 2019, Cobargo's streetscape changed forever, but the heart and soul of Cobargo remains stronger than ever.
Members of this amazing community have come together in so many ways, helping saving neighbours properties from fire, setting up and running their own relief centre and supporting the families who tragically lost two men. Resources have been pooled, shared, donated and given away. A doctor lost his surgery on his property out of town, so he set up his practice in a solar-powered motor home, as regular local patients kept asking for help. This is a community that knows how to work together and support each other. If you'd like to help Cobargo, the best thing to do is jump in the car and visit. The paddocks are beautiful and green, and with help from organisations like BlazeAid, Team Rubicon and the Australian Defence Forces,
things are slowly returning to a new 'normal'. There are shops in Cobargo that have not been affected by fire, and they could really use your support. Bring your empty esky, stay for lunch, stay for the weekend, stay for a week. The Cobargo Markets, an initiative of Cobargo Creators, are on every Saturday from 8am - 1pm. Enjoy the friendly Cobargo vibe whilst browsing fresh produce, seedlings, herbs, local crafts, craft supplies and other locally made goodies. There’s also trashy treasures and treasured trash for the bargain hunters and the odd busker to entertain. Cobargo's a resilient town, but they can't do it all alone. Please visit, or buy online from Cobargo-based businesses.
