(L-R) Trevor Wilkinson and Cory Hints from Kamloops Fire and Rescue keep busy as they check the flow and pressure of all the fire hydrants in the City of Kamloops. This procedure is done once a year between March 15 and May 15.
Why leave your home to pay your property taxes or utility bills? Now, you can do the entire process online! The first step is to sign up for MyCity, where you can access all of your City accounts online – from property tax information to utility account details. To get started visit www.kamloops.ca/mycity. Fill out the required prompts and then validate your account with the opt-in email confirmation that we send you. Next, you’ll need your Utility Account Number or Folio Number, along with your access code from the top of your statement. New for 2016, this service emails your property tax and/or your utility bills right to your inbox. Go paperless - no more printouts to manage or waiting for a bill to show up in the mail. It’s practical and good for the environment too. For property taxes, you can apply for and claim your Homeowner’s Grant online at www. kamloops.ca/ehog. Once that’s all finished, you can pay your taxes or bills through your financial institution’s online banking system. Having trouble finding your information? April is Oral Health month Let’s face it, there are very few people out there that are excited to go to the dentist. It would even be easy to say that most people try to avoid going to the dentist if at all possible. But why do we hate doing something that we know is good for us? Aside from a dental emergency, many people do not go in for a professional cleaning and check up for a variety of reasons; whether it be anxiety or fear. You may have stayed away for several years and are afraid of what they may say is wrong with your teeth. You keep meaning to make an appointment but life gets in the way. Maybe you don’t have any dental insurance and think going to the dentist is an elective expense or maybe nothing is bothering you so you say something like, ‘If it isn’t broke don’t fix it.” Whatever your reason for staying away may be, April’s Oral Health month reminds us that it is important not to let any of these reasons keep you away from your neighbourhood dentist. Here in the downtown core Dr. Henri Ferber and his great staff will give you a reason to smile. They
specialize in general and family dentistry, emergency care, oral surgery, implant reconstructive surgery and more. They are conveniently located at 387 4th Ave and they welcome new patients. “Poor oral health can affect a person’s quality of life,” explains Dr. Henri Ferber’s office. “Oral pain, missing teeth or oral infections can influence the way a person speaks, eats and socializes. These oral health problems can reduce a person’s quality of life by affecting their physical, mental and social well-being. Everything that happens in your mouth affects your whole body, which is why it is so important to visit your dentist regularly. Only your dentist has the training, skills and expertise to properly address all your oral DTE JAN 7 dental exams help prevent health care needs. So there was this man in Bulgaria who drove a train for a living. He loved his job, driving a train had been his dream ever since he was a child. He loved to make the train go as fast as possible. Unfortunately, one day he was a little too reckless and caused a crash. He made it out, but a single person died. Well, needless to say, he went to court over this incident. He was found guilty and was sentenced to death by electrocution. When the day of the execution came, he requested a single banana as his last meal. After eating the banana, he was strapped into the electric chair. The switch was flown, sparks flew and smoke filled the air- but nothing happened. The man was perfectly fine. Well, at the time, there was an old Bulgarian law that said a failed execution was a sign of divine intervention, so the man was allowed to go free. And somehow, he managed to get his old job back driving the train. Having not learned his lesson at all, he went right back to driving the train with reckless abandon. Once again, he caused a train to crash, this time killing two people. The trial went much the same as the
first, resulting in a sentence of execution. For his final meal, the man requested two bananas. After eating the bananas, he was strapped into the electric chair. The switch was thrown, sparks flew, smoke filled the room and the man was once again unharmed. Well, this of course meant that he was free to go. And once again, he somehow manages to get his old job back. To what should have been the surprise of no one, he crashed yet another train and killed three people. And so he once again found himself being sentenced to death. On the day of his execution, he requested his final meal- three bananas. “You know what? No,” said the executioner. “I’ve had it with you and your stupid bananas and walking out of here unharmed. I’m not giving you a thing to eat, we’re strapping you in and doing this now.” Well, it was against protocol, but the man was strapped in to the electric chair without a last meal. The switch was pulled, sparks flew, smoke filled the room and the man was still unharmed. The executioner was speechless. The man looked at the executioner and said, “Oh, the bananas had nothing to do with it. I’m just a bad conductor.”

Dreaming of the afterlife Adam woke up suddenly, sweating all over. “What’s the problem”, asked his wife. “Are you OK?” “I just dreamed that I died!” responded a shaken Adam. “And it was so bad up there and that’s why you’re sweating all over?” asked his wife. “You bet!” exclaimed Adam. “I got up there and was right in front of God himself, when he suddenly sneezed and I didn’t know what to say to him! Whoa, was that traumatic!”
Cow on the tracks A passenger train is creeping along, slowly. Finally it creaks to a halt. A passenger sees a conductor walking by outside. “What’s going on?” she yells out the window. “Cow on the track!” replies the conductor. Ten minutes later, the train
The train ride
In a train compartment, there are three men and a stunning young lady. The four passengers join in conversation, which very soon turns to the erotic. Then, the young lady proposes, “If each of you will give me $1.00, I will show you my legs.” The men, charmed by this woman, all pull a buck out of their wallet. And then the woman pulls us her dress a bit to show her legs. Then she says, “If each of you gentlemen will give me $10.00, I’ll show you my thighs,” and men being what they are, they

all pull out a ten dollar bill. The woman pulls up her dress all the way to her legs in full. Conversation continues and the men, a bit excited, have all taken off their coats. Then the young lady says, “If you will give me $100, I will show you where I was operated on for appendicitis.” All three fork over the money. She then turned to the window and points outside at a building they’re passing. “See there in the distance. That’s the hospital where I had it done!”
A rare occassion
Dad rarely dresses up, so when he left the bedroom decked out in a suit and tie, he wanted to commemorate the moment. Handing me a camera, he asked, “Mind taking a selfie of me?”

Dear Leo: (July 23 - Aug 22) It’s a workweek but the sunlight and warm smiles are encouraging you to get out and play.
