A Healthier Life for Everyone and a Better Life for Anyone
13–year old Beau Wiebe, resident of Seattle, Washington, was happy to join the Canadian Military at the Canadian Armed Forces booth at Canada Day. Each year, people from all over Kamloops take part in the celebrations held in the heart of the city at Riverside Park. Festivities include something for everyone - from community booth’s, live music and childrens activities to the fireworks display.
Prince Charles playground reopens The City of Kamloops announced the reopening of the new accessible playground at Prince Charles and newly enhanced wading pool. The new playground will be for children ages two to 12 and will have the newest accessible CSA equipment and a new impact surface for children of all abilities. The wading pool also has a new look also that will compliment the theme of the playground. The City of Kamloops will be hosting a grand opening for the public later this summer.

Any amount is helpful, but donations over $25 will receive a charitable receipt. “We started with 300 bricks
and there are less than 200 left so they are going fast.” The kiosks aren’t the only pieces of recycled history going into this project, though. “We’ve got benches made from Douglas Fir timbers from the second Red Bridge that will be installed as soon as we get the walkway done,” shares Colleen. When this project is done, Colleen and the Communities in Bloom team will get busy on their next goal in honouring the Red Bridge, which is to have it lit. Rebecca Stewart

Ongoing education is regular practice at Kamloops Denture Teeth are important, and many of us take them for granted until they become compromised and need repair. Continuing the legacy of the Corbin Denture Clinic, Kamloops Denture and Implant Centre is the longest serving denture clinic in our city, and continues to offer the latest in denture building and care by staying abreast of changes in their field of practice. “There are over 230 implant systems, so it’s important to know all of them in case a patient comes in with an issue we haven’t seen before,” says Gary Sallaway, RD, a denturist with more than fifteen years of experience dealing with multiple types of implant retained dentures. “I make a point of challenging myself. We see ongoing education as extremely important in order to serve our clients better, so we continually attend seminars and workshops in an attempt to always provide top quality service. I’m always taking opportunities to upgrade my skills.” The practice offers direct service to the public with no need for referral,
though they do collaborate with many of Kamloops finest dentists to create solutions that are the very best for their clients. In addition to their denture services, they are the only denture clinic in the Kamloops area that offers VelScope scans. VelScope is a safe and powerful oral screening tool available for assisting in the discovery of oral abnormalities, which is important in the fight against oral cancer. Used on a regular basis, the VelScope helps dental professionals find a wide variety of soft-tissue abnormalities, allowing practices to aspire to an advanced level of patient care. The kind, caring and knowledgeable staff at Kamloops Denture and Implant Centre offer you lengthy experience in the field and look forward to serving you. Their two locations – on the North Shore in Library Square and downtown at 903 Battle Street – are both wheelchair accessible. Call them at 250-372-8045 to find out how they can help you.
