at MotoAmerica race events, it was time to show how a competitive track-ready “Race Bagger” can be built.
Alex Fox, the man behind the SLYFOX line of Performance Bagger products, had previously worked with Suburban Harley-Davidson in BRL races dating back to 2021. They have a Pro Stock Bagger #1 plate to show for their success.
I was talking recently with Tom Motzko from Drag Specialties, and he said, “We’ve never seen anything before like what is happening now with sales of products found in the FatBook that were literally inspired and developed by the new Bagger racing phenomena.”
One big surprise that my staff at Drag Specialties Magazine gets to share with all of you each year is what motorcycle will be featured on the cover of that year’s FatBook catalog. It’s always fun to put together the behind-the-scenes story about the motorcycle, the builder, why that machine was built in the first place, plus the build sheet from the pages of the FatBook. For 2023, that honor goes to Alex Fox, who partnered with Joe Haupt and his team at Suburban Harley-Davidson to build a first-ever race bike to make it on the front cover of the FatBook
It was actually easy to see the day coming that a race-ready Road King would achieve this distinction. We already had “Performance Baggers” make the FatBook cover in 2020 and 2022, but with the ever-growing success of the Bagger Racing League (BRL) and King of the Bagger series

Kristalyn comes to Drag with several years of experience at the dealer level managing shop and service. She started riding in 2017, and has owned 10 motorcycles since. Her current rides are a 1999 Harley-Davidson Super Glide and a 2018 Honda Grom.

NEWS EVENTS AND Education Takes Center Stage at AIMExpo 2023
AIMExpo is doubling-down on the educational offerings for the 2023 show scheduled for February 15-17 in Las Vegas, including an expanded educational series on the main stage and the return of dealer-focused classroom sessions.
“Our industry is evolving at a rapid pace, from electrification and macro-economic forces, to ever-changing best-business practices,” said Andre Albert, director, marketing and events, at the Motorcycle Industry Council. “We’ve developed an educational lineup for AIMExpo 2023 with that in mind, to deliver information and actionable content that attendees will be able bring back to their businesses and see positive results.”
The MIC Board of Directors will kick off the series on the main stage Wednesday with a State of the Industry panel, followed by key data insights from industry economists David Savlowitz and Michael Ponton of Competitive Analytics. On Thursday, see what the future of powersports holds from the distributors’ perspective from a lineup that includes LeMans Corporation Chairman/CEO Paul Langley. AIMExpo’s first-ever Distributors Panel will be moderated by Tony Gonzalez of Garage Composites.
“This is shaping up to be our biggest, most comprehensive educational series,” Albert said. “If you want to know what the powersports landscape is going to look like in the future, and what industry stakeholders are doing to prepare for it, then you can’t miss this show.” ■

Harley-Davidson Kicks Off 120th Anniversary in 2023

GROWS IN 2023
Need proof of the popularity of MotoAmerica’s Mission King of the Baggers racing, there are fans out there who can’t get enough of watching 600-pound American V-Twins bash saddlebags on racetracks across the country?
Just a few short years ago, King of the Baggers was a oneoff invitational held in conjunction with the MotoAmerica Championship at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The bad-mouthing began soon after the race was announced, and continued right up to the point when naysayers watched the big bikes fly down the Corkscrew at speeds no one would have imagined.
Fast forward to 2022 and the four-round (seven races) Mission King of the Baggers Championship that went down to the wire at the very last race of the season at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Two riders and two bitter rival manufacturers went into the finale separated by just three points. At the end of the battle, Tyler O’Hara was the man on top as he parlayed his second-place finish on his Mission Foods/S&S Cycle/Indian Challenger to the title, losing the race to Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle’s Kyle Wyman but beating his brother Travis, who was also mounted on a Harley, to the championship.
For 2023, the schedule has doubled for the Baggers. In 2023, they will race 14 times at seven different venues, including both Daytona International Speedway and Circuit of The Americas. King of the Baggers has proven to be popular even to those who “bagged” on the class from its inception.
So how did 2022 play out? It was pure excitement, and left everyone wanting more. It all started at Daytona – as it will in 2023 – with a thrilling debut. Visit the MotoAmerica YouTube channel if you didn’t happen to see what battling Baggers looked like on the high banks of the most famous racetrack in the world.
O’Hara won the first race at Daytona and followed that up with a second place to Jeremy McWilliams, his teammate on the Mission Foods/S&S Cycle/Indian Challenger Team, in race two to leave Florida with a points haul of 45 points. Travis Wyman was second to O’Hara in race one at Daytona and was fifth in race two. He left the Sunshine State with 31 points. While O’Hara was the one to beat in the first half of the season, it was mostly a story of Travis Wyman in the second half. It all started at Road America when Travis Wyman won his first-career Baggers race and it set him on a path of scoring 65 points in the three rounds preceding the series finale at NJMP. That, combined with O’Hara scoring 42 points with just one podium finish, put Wyman three points ahead going into this weekend in Jersey.
With Kyle Wyman winning the season finale, he led the way with three wins on the season. His scorecard was marred by two non-finishes and that basically cost him a real shot at the title. In total, five different riders scored victories in the seven races in 2022.

For the first time in three years, Drag Specialties and Parts Unlimited dealers, sales reps, vendors, associates and industry friends will gather together again in person in Louisville for the annual event that signals the start of the new sales season, the Spring NVP Product Expo!
Once again, the massive product showcase takes place in downtown Louisville at the well-appointed modern space of the Kentucky International Convention Center. After such an extended period apart due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the 2023 Drag Specialties/Parts Unlimited NVP in the Bluegrass state promises to be a stunner.
The NVP Product Expo continues to expand with an over 40 percent increase in exhibit space from the previous Louisville expo and all exhibits are on one floor! The huge show space will now span 144,000 square feet, with a big range of great vendors. Exciting new brands and products will be unveiled along with opportunities to re-connect with the industry’s leading brand representatives.
As always, Drag dealers can expect to get up-close-andpersonal with all the latest and greatest apparel, parts and accessories destined for their showrooms – and into the hands of eager enthusiasts. There will be products from more than 300 displays, a range that covers the gamut of the products available in those Parts Unlimited catalogs. Saturday also features exclusive product training opportunities for your store’s staff, a great chance to get some up-close-and-personal education from a range of top vendors.
This is the chance to meet with brand specialists who can delve deep into the features and benefits of a big lineup of products, offering keen insight on what will make them fast sellers. The NVP Product Expo offers an excellent opportunity to stock up for spring, and dealers attending the Expo will receive special discounts and additional incentives. Drag dealers should plan to attend both Saturday and Sunday, as it takes two days to see the entire expanded event. With so much taking place, food and refreshments will be served throughout the day on the Expo floor.
As it is with all the NVP Product Expos, the show not only serves as a valuable product training event, it’s also a chance to network with Parts reps, vendor employees, and longtime industry associates. There will be a happy hour on the show floor on Saturday, offering everyone the opportunity to share some good times after such a long time apart. After this, everyone will head to the evening’s iconic Meet & Greet taking place at The Sports & Social Club in the heart of downtown Louisville’s 4th Street Live Entertainment District.
Given its central location, Louisville is just a day’s drive for more than half of the United States population, meaning that getting to the show shouldn’t be a hassle.

The 2023 FatBook Cover Bike
It’s no street bike this time, but it’s still a FatBook build through-and-through. That giant catalog has plenty of hardcore performance parts in it, pretty much everything needed for a real racer and it’s all on display here.
“
This could be the first-ever FatBook cover bike with slicks.” Alex Fox, the bike’s builder and founder of SLYFOX, is probably right. FatBook cover bikes are always street machines, sometimes ground-up customs, sometimes mildly or even wildly worked-over HarleyDavidson stockers.
In either case they’re built to showcase what’s possible when building with the FatBook in one hand and a wrench in the other. But a race bike? A track-ready Harley ready for the Bagger Racing League? On the cover? Absolutely, because just like all those street-bound cover bikes before it, this Harley is every bit the showcase of what Drag Specialties offers, a demonstration of everything inside the FatBook. With a twist, because there’s a lot more than just chrome and good looks in that catalog, there’s plenty of hard-core performance, and this cover bike is the proof.
When Alex got the call to put together the 2023 FatBook cover bike there was no question, at least in his mind, what he’d do with the opportunity. Alex isn’t just the man behind the SLYFOX Performance brand. He’s also the son of the late midget and IndyCar racer, Stan Fox, and nephew of Fred Fox, the retired LeMans Corporation Chairman and architect behind Drag Specialties’ massive success. For this build, Alex partnered with Joe Houpt and Suburban Harley-Davidson to build a race bike right that would be right at home in the Bagger Racing League This 2018 Road King is it and, naturally, it went together with a racer’s eye,
Beginning with an S&S Cycle 124-inch package and a complete Feuling valvetrain upgrade, the engine Alex Fox and the SLYFOX team spec’d out is race-ready. finished off with the same white paint and bright-red No. 9 that were the track-favorites of his late father. Importantly, though, and true to cover-bike tradition, nearly everything needed to create this racer came out of the FatBook and we’ll detail plenty of it in a minute. But, as Alex says, “We also used a lot from the FatBook that no one will ever see, hardware impossible to showcase and consequently rarely included into a cover-bike build.”
He’s talking about everything that makes this bike the real racer it is, not just a showpiece made to look like one. Nearly every part and product designed to build power inside the engine and making up the stout, heavy-duty driveline behind it, came with a Drag Specialties part number.
For this build, nothing has been skipped, overlooked, or short-changed, starting with the S&S Cycle 124-inch conversion. Add to that a complete Feuling Race Series valvetrain – *camshaft to springs, an S&S 55mm intake manifold, a *Thundermax Tuner, and a Branch-O’Keefe
port-and polish job on the heads, which were then custom flowed to the nth degree.
All this was backed with a Baker Drivetrain DD7 transmission, a Barnett Scorpion clutch and a combination of heavy-duty Drag Specialties/PBI/Alloy Art/RK primary and final chain drives. This is serious stuff, and purpose-built performance equipment, and all right out of the FatBook
The *exhaust system here deserves special note. Developed in collaboration with Bassani, it’s an all-titanium system sized and styled to work with mid-controls on a Bagger. It’s a neat piece and something that’ll soon be made available in stainless steel with the choice of either a stainless steel or titanium muffler.
Naturally, Alex incorporated lots of his own SLYFOX offerings into the build, some of it custom-fabricated just for this bike, many more coming with a Drag Specialties part number and available in the FatBook. A SLYFOX carbon-fiber fairing,

an ultra-lightweight replica of a Harley-Davidson piece falls into that former category.
The SLYFOX Track-Pro wheels, 6-inches wide for the rear, the StepUp Pro-Series seat, carbon-fiber fenders, saddlebags and lids, the triple-trees, risers, brake rotors and more are all FatBook available. So are the Alloy Art fork legs and aluminum swingarm Alex picked, as are the full Legend Suspension systems both front and rear. And naturally there’s some slick, one-off magic mixed in, like the pockets formed into both sides of the stock Harley-Davidson gas tank allowing the rider to tuck-in tight and cheat the wind. Fully sorted, track-tested and ready to go, the Number 9 SLYFOX/ Drag Specialties/Suburban H-D BRL Harley will have to wait just a bit before taking its place on the grid. Like all FatBook cover bikes before it, this one has a few dates to keep first, becoming the main attraction on the Drag Specialties show-and-tell event-tour circuit. And everywhere it’ll go the story will be a simple one to tell – if it’s performance you’re after the FatBook has it, in spades. ■

Not that long ago, the idea of Baggers competing on road racing courses throughout the U.S. seemed questionable. However, those naysayers vastly underestimated both the competitiveness and the popularity of Performance Baggers.
Maybe it’s something about seeing such big bikes cranked over in the corners, or maybe it’s the rekindling of the century-old battle between Harley-Davidson and Indian. Or, perhaps, fans love to see bikes just like theirs put through their paces.
Not only can fans watch Bagger racing these days, but they even have two series to follow: the Bagger Racing League and MotoAmerica’s King of the Baggers. Both series feature fierce competition and have plenty for fans to cheer about. It’s not just the fans who are cheering, though. Both series have been great for aftermarket companies that produce performance V-Twin products. Drag Specialties has been involved since the beginning, but as Drag Specialties National Sales Manager John Strangfeld says, that “beginning” goes back a lot further than this current craze for Bagger racing. “Drag Specialties began by way of drag racing in the 1960s,” Strangfeld says. “Performance Bagger racing has been a
remarkable ride paying tribute to our roots. I think I speak for many when I say racing is how we got started, and eventually led to developing aftermarket products in this industry.” Racing has always been a great development platform for manufacturers and aftermarket brands alike, and it’s a great marketing strategy, too. What better way to show off a product’s capabilities than by putting it on a race bike?
“For many of our vendor partners, this was an exciting way to develop new products and push technology to the next level,” Strangfeld notes. But, of course, it’s about more than just catering to racers. He adds, “Drag Specialties continues to invest in our vendors by bringing new performance products into our warehouses.”
That allows dealers to take advantage of the time-honored “Win on Sunday. Sell on Monday.” tradition. Racers are proving the advantages of these performance V-Twin products on the track, which helps bring them to the attention of riders who want the same advantages on their streetbike. And, letting a customer know how the products helped bring home a race win is always a valuable sales tool.
King of the Baggers wrapped up its 2022 season at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Riders had to battle both each other and

the rain, and it was pole-sitter Kyle Wyman who came out on top on board his Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle Road Glide Special. Mission Foods/S&S Cycle/Indian Challenger Team’s Tyler O’Hara went into the race three points behind Wyman in the championship, but his second-place finish in the race was enough to propel him into the points lead and the 2023 King of the Baggers championship title. The Bagger Racing League had to deal with rain in a very different way – a hurricane hit Florida just one week before the season finale at Daytona International Speedway. Nevertheless, the weather cooperated for race weekend. Of the six classes in the series, the Custom Dynamics Bagger GP race was one for the storybooks. Shane Narbonne and Danny Eslick fought neckand-neck to the finish, with Narbonne taking both the win and the championship on his Trask Performance Turbo-equipped Harley-Davidson Road Glide. The race was also notable as the final race for longtime standout Michael Barnes, who hung up his leathers at the end of the 2022 season. Strangfeld was on hand at Daytona for the BRL season finale, which means he got to soak up all the enthusiasm from race fans, riders and teams. He recalls, “The energy from all the teams and race fans was electric at the legendary Daytona Speedway. Watching our friends at Trask win the 2022 BRL
championship plate with the support of everyone involved was a special moment in victory circle. Congratulations to all teams and crew members for a fantastic race season!”
The explosion of high-quality performance products for V-Twins is helping to usher in a new era of motorcycling, and showcasing them in racing is just a part of the forward momentum.
As Strangfeld says, “We have no doubt that V-Twin performance parts have been bringing passion back into many veteran riders and bringing forward a new era of younger riders into the V-Twin industry for the first time. We look forward to 2023 and the opportunities we have in front of us.”
For Bagger racers, those opportunities will include more wins and championships. For Drag dealers, it means more customer excitement about performance V-Twin parts, and riders who want to emulate the race teams they’re
on the weekends.

Quick-Connect Upper Clutch Cables
On the surface, clutch cables seem like one of those motorcycle staples that might not offer a lot of different choices. A quick look at the FatBook, though, shows that there are many varieties. Drag Specialties already has an extensive list of available clutch cables, with variations in length and materials, among other things. That list is now longer thanks to the new Drag Specialties quick-connect upper clutch cables for select Harley-Davidson models.
Not only are these quick-connect cables an economical replacement for the OE upper clutch cable, but they are also a big saver in the time and hassle department. By only replacing the upper cable, installation time is much shorter and there is no need to drain the transmission fluid or remove the exhaust.
To make it even more convenient, these quick-install upper cables are compatible with the OE cover and housing parts. Installation really is as simple as ordering one part, then connecting it to the existing lower cable section.
The upper clutch cables are designed to be low effort and high efficiency, and they meet or exceed OE specifications when it comes to fitment, construction and durability. Anti-friction inner liners ensure everything operates smoothly, and each cable arrives from the factory already lubricated, which adds to the consistency and longevity. To make it even sweeter, the cables are all assembled in the USA.
Drag Specialties offers the quick-install upper clutch cables with handlebar fittings in stainless steel, black/ chrome and black/black. The high-efficiency black vinyl clutch cables feature tempered-steel inner wire and a nylon inner sleeve, all wrapped in a black vinyl outer casing. The highperformance design allows the cable to bend naturally for improved operation.
The high-efficiency braided stainless steel clutch cables also feature the high-performance design. Instead of the vinyl casing, though, the cables are encased in braided stainless steel. The V-Twin industry has seen trends come and go, from big wheel Baggers and Dyna bros doing wheelies, to ‘60sinspired choppers and Bobbers. All of them have seen their time in the sun, with many returning in vogue as new styles move to the forefront. While those styles ebb and flow, there’s one constant in the motorcycling world – the daily rider with a good set of ape hangers.
Now, why would anyone want taller bars? Some people add them for looks, and some for comfort. For example, on a West Coast style build like a Vicla (or lowrider style), that ride simply needs some tall apes to look right. Typically, this style bar will be very tall, starting at 16 inches, going all the way to 20 inches tall!

Some riders choose a seat based solely on the comfort level. Other, more adventurous riders might be looking for a performance seat that is designed to let them do a little showing off. Then, of course, there are the riders who want both comfort and performance, all in the same seat.
Saddlemen has something to suit each of those types of riders with the Step-Up line of seats. The original Step-Up debuted as a performance seat designed to fit popular V-Twin models. Freestyle riders were quick to show just what could be done with the Step-Up, and Saddlemen reports that the seat exploded in popularity as soon as it hit the market.
The Step-Up was designed primarily for solo riders, and customers were quick to note that having a seat that was designed with both the driver and the passenger in mind would be nice, too. Saddlemen’s unique custom seat program makes it easy for Drag Specialties dealers to offer truly one-of-a-kind seats to their customers, without any of the hassle that would go into making a standalone custom seat. A seat comprises a lot of the visible area of a motorcycle, so changing its look can really transform the entire bike.
With the Saddlemen seat program, dealers start the process by selecting the right form for the seat style being customized, then simply fill it out according to the customer’s preferences. Details like the materials for the chassis and accent panels, the color of the stitching, the stitching style and the color of the stitched Saddlemen logo can all be customized.
Riders who want to go one step further can even add their own artwork, like a club logo. The artwork will be embroidered onto the seat as part of the build process.

As one of the most popular events in the Drag Specialties lineup, the annual Dealer Ride has taken dealers, vendors and Drag employees from the Adirondacks in upstate New York and the Gulf Coast in Alabama to clear across the country to the Redwoods of Northern California. The one common denominator (besides fun!) connecting them all are the great roads stretched out across two great days of riding.
For the 2022 ride, those roads included hundreds of scenic miles winding through the great Southwest as the largest turnout of dealers and vendors in the ride’s 16-year history gathered at the WeKoPa Casino Resort in Scottsdale,
Arizona for the Rattler Run II. The ride earned that “II” designation because dealer ride participants first got a taste of the region back in 2013 at the first Rattler Run. Yes, it was so good they had to come back.
In addition to all that great riding, the Drag Dealer Rides are also an opportunity for dealers to get some one-onone time with the Ride’s supporting vendors. The Rattler Run II kicked off in the hotel parking lot with the popular Vendor Row. It’s here where dealers got the chance to meet and talk with the participating manufacturers, and pick up some free samples and other swag.

The following day it was kickstands up and rubber down as dealers picked one of two routes that would take them northeast of Scottsdale through the Tonto National Forest and the area’s fantastic scenery. For day two, it was more of the same and that was fine by everyone involved. After all, riding motorcycles is why most people get into the business to begin with!
Each riding day was capped off with a nice reception and dinner, where everyone had the chance to unwind and bench race over food and drinks. After all was said and done, the attending dealers and vendors gathered for a farewell reception emceed by the Voice of LeMans, Rob
Buydos. As always, the night included an Awards Ceremony where some traditional honors – and some new ones –were handed out, including the coveted Dealer of the Year Award, this year going Mike Hyder, of Hyd-Out Cycles in Tecumseh, Michigan.

These days, there are more V-Twin tire choices than ever before. And, not only is there a greater variety to choose from, but the quality and performance characteristics of those tires continue to set new standards. The Metzeler team provides riders on all kinds – and ages – of V-Twins an excellent choice in tires thanks to the Metzeler Cruisetec and Metzeler ME888 tires.
The Metzeler Cruisetec is a tire designed to match the performance and capabilities of modern V-Twins. The Metzeler ME888 Marathon Ultra tire is an outstanding long-distance touring tire with a wide range of sizes, meaning it can fit just about any ride, right down to a custom build.
The Cruisetec tire isn’t your typical V-Twin tire, and that’s the whole point. It has the strength to support heavy V-Twins coupled with the performance characteristics of a sport tire. In fact, the Cruisetec profile is inspired by Metzeler’s sport-touring tire profiles, featuring a higher curvature than one would typically expect of a V-Twin tire. This steeper angle improves handling, providing plenty of stability in a straight line and in those side-to-side transitions.
Another performance-minded aspect of the Metzeler Cruisetec tire is the dual-compound rubber. The softer shoulder compound of the rear Cruisetec tire is infused with plasticizers and silica, and the combination gives riders high grip levels both turning into corners and cruising through them.
Meanwhile, the center compound of the Cruisetec tires is designed to support the weight of V-Twins while providing longevity, grip and stability in straight-line riding. The entire rear Cruisetec tire has high amounts of silica throughout the center and shoulder compounds for fast warm-up and improved traction, even in cold or wet conditions.
While the profile of the Cruisetec tire is inspired by its sport-touring counterparts, the tread pattern has a classic V-Twin look. The tread is designed to improve both mechanical grip and water evacuation. The front tire has a specially engineered design that reduces chatter if ABS is engaged, giving riders a smoother ride in those hardbraking situations.
The interior of the Cruisetec tire is also designed with V-Twins in mind. The stiffer cords and thicker rubber help dampen the ride and reduce the floating feeling riders can

Arai Helmet Joins the Drag Specialties Family

Arai’s experience on the street and at the track have provided it with many valuable lessons. One such tenet is that a rounder, smoother and stronger shell is better able to divert impact energy by sliding across uneven surfaces and glancing off obstacles more easily. The result of that philosophy is the current Arai shell shape, similar to an egg – one the strongest shapes found in nature.
Arai is a storied and well-respected helmet brand, and for good reason. For seven decades, the Arai family has produced high-quality helmets that many prize for their protection, style and comfort. Arai Helmet is a three-generation family-owned Japanese company that specializes in high-quality motorcycle helmets. Its mission is simple and has remained unchanged since it was founded by Hirotake Arai in the 1950s – protection without compromise.
The Arai story begins in Japan in the mid-1920s, when 21-year-old Hirotake Arai set up shop as a straw-hat maker. In the coming years, Hirotake utilized his hat-making skills to design and manufacture hard hats for construction workers. With business success came the ability to buy something Hirotake had long wanted – a Harley-Davidson – and he soon became impassioned with riding.
This was in the early 1950s, an era when motorcycles were booming in popularity, but safety equipment such as helmets hadn’t become common yet. Hirotake’s experience in helmet making, and his own daredevil riding pushed him to design a hard-shelled helmet for his own

Hogtunes has ensured the Retro Lid kits provide an optimized listening experience. This starts with the speaker mount adapter that affixes underneath the lid. In order to properly fit a 6”x9” speaker, it must be mounted at an angle. There are several ways of doing this, but Hogtunes has designed its kits so the speakers angle slightly forward

and in, directing sound to the rider in the most direct route possible.
In addition to the angle, the speaker mounts do not obstruct a large portion of the speaker itself. Sound in its simplest form is the movement of air molecules, meaning a blockage of air movement is a direct blockage of sound. This concept carries over into the included speaker grills, as well.
Grills must allow sounds to travel through while stopping objects from damaging the speaker, which is why Retro Lid kits utilize 1mm thick, alloy mesh grills, designed to withstand a knock from a passenger’s boot without leaving a dent. These grills complete the trick look with a Hogtunes badge available in standard chrome or black, furthering your customers’ style options.
Of course, creating openings in saddlebag lids creates some concern for the elements being able to get in. Not to worry, Hogtunes has designed the speaker placement and angle so that the majority of water is directed away from the speakers and out of the saddlebag lid. While the speakers are rated to withstand the demands of a motorcycle application, the less contact with water, the better.
Retro Lid kits are available in three levels of componentry, the first of which is the Retro Lid-RM, including easy-touse cutting templates, speaker mount adapters, finished, mesh grill overlays, an upgraded wiring harness and all the necessary hardware to complete the job. Riders don’t often think of their clutches as consumable components, but every time that lever gets let out, a little bit of material wears off the clutch plates. Form and Function Products that Work as

The bracket on PM’s Integrated Rear Caliper is machined from the same piece of metal used to form the outer half of the caliper, so there are no seams or ugly hardware distracting you from the sleek, artistic form of the assembly. This new M-8 assembly has the famous PM logo machined into the caliper face and is available in Contrast Cut or Chrome finishes.
It’s not just about the looks, though. Performance Machine’s forte is brake hardware, so your customers know this caliper is an upgrade in stopping power. The 4-piston design is exceptionally rigid for better brake modulation and is engineered to work with the stock Softail master cylinder.
Next on the ‘works as good as it looks’ list is PM’s Mid Controls for 2009 through 2016 Touring models. Even moderately aggressive riders will deck their controls while cornering, so for those hungry for lean angles, PM’s Mid Controls are the way to go.
PM Mid Controls put the rider in a more aggressive riding position and provide increased ground clearance for attacking corners. Made from 6061-T6 billet aluminum, these mids are strong and lightweight. The bolt-on design requires no modifications to the primary cover, so installation is easy.
Designed to work with a PM master cylinder or the stock unit, the Mid Controls use steel brake linkage and chrome heim joints for smooth, durable operation, while the short-throw shift lever makes it easier to rip through the gears. The philosophy at Kodlin USA is that parts should look just as great as they perform. Sure, foot controls serve a functional purpose, but that doesn’t mean they have to look like it. The new Kodlin Trackboard collection proves that.
The full collection includes Trackboards for HarleyDavidson Touring models, Mini Trackboards, a brake pedal pad, a shifter peg and splined adaptors for the mini boards.
The Kodlin Trackboards for Harley-Davidson Touring models lead this new collection. The matching Trackboards, brake pedal pad and shifter peg mean riders can have perfectly coordinated foot controls.

Dyna Roar New Exhaust Options for Dynas
Both the popular Ripper 2-into-1 header and the Road Rage 3 2-into-1 header are now available for Dyna fitments. Both systems feature stepped 1¾-inch into 17/8-inch head pipes, a setup that is designed to derive maximum performance for an exhaust that does everything right – looks, sound and power. This past Christmas Eve was even more of a special occasion than usual for the team at Custom Dynamics. On that day back in 2002, someone doing some online shopping became the company’s first customer.

Riding Right Street-Legal Performance Products
When it comes to giving your V-Twin customers the style and performance they want, all while staying on the right side of emissions laws, S&S Cycle has a big catalog of streetlegal performance exhaust systems and intakes that are a great option.
Why are many performance parts considered off limits? Although sound can be an issue, it’s mostly state and federal emissions laws that affect those go-fast parts and accessories. With S&S Cycle’s product line, the days of “Off-road Use Only” workarounds are in the past. Does this mean the end of the fun? Are riders now stuck with boring stock motorcycles? Absolutely not.
Take a glance over at the automotive space and you’ll regularly see high horsepower machines coming right from the factory and a thriving aftermarket that has a clear understanding of how to make power without deleting critical emissions components. With all the effort that goes into getting CARB-approval for its parts, S&S puts even more effort into making sure the exhausts and intakes still flow more, and make more power.
So rather than using off-the-shelf emissions parts, S&S designed its own high-flow catalytic convertor and dB reducer to ensure the components were optimized for performance. Introducing the Tornado Turbo Kit
Nick Trask has been turbocharging HarleyDavidsons for 23 years. In 2003 he started producing kits for the V-Rod, and soon after, for Dyna, Touring and Softail models, and began selling them and installing them at the biggest motorcycle rallies in the world. Now, Trask Performance is excited to be offering the Tornado Turbo Kit exclusively to all Drag Specialties dealers.
For horsepower junkies looking to add 30 percent to 50 percent bolt-on power to their performance builds, the Tornado Turbo Kit is a perfect solution. As tested on a new Harley-Davidson Softail ST with a bone stock 117˝, the Turbo Kit achieved a 57 percent increase in horsepower and 35 percent increase in torque, while running a modest 8 pounds of boost on 91 octane pump gas. This equates to a healthy 142 horsepower and a solid 147 foot-pounds of torque, all from a completely bolt-on kit.
Other than the obvious power increase, by installing the turbo kit, a proper tuner and dyno tuning the bike, your customers get a great bang for their buck when upgrading a stock motorcycle. For roughly the same price as a 131-inch crate engine, they can achieve more power while saving money by not having to upgrade the exhaust and air cleaner. Plus, because the kit is a bolt-on unit, they can always transfer it to another Milwaukee-Eight equipped bike if and when they upgrade. Installation should take 8 to 10 hours the first time for an experienced technician.
The Tornado Turbo Kit is designed specifically for the M-8 platform. It can be installed on any M8 equipped Softail or
Touring bike with the 107-inch, 114-inch or 117-inch motor, as long as it is not also equipped with the Twin-Cooled System. (The kit will not fit with lower fairings installed)
The Tornado Turbo Kit is built using stainless-steel tubing and comes in two finishes, Brushed Stainless and Black. The stainless tubing excels at dissipating the heat over other materials, and the black version’s ceramic coating is a popular finish for racing and other high-performance components.
The kits include all the components needed for installation. The list includes: spark plugs, injectors, a handlebar mounted boost gauge, turbo cam cover, plenum, two bar map sensor, turbo, stainless steel pipe kit, and all the necessary hardware and bracketry.

Windshields that Pop
Several years ago, custom bike painter Shannon Pranschke, working out of Gjerde Production Paint, approached Brian Klock to see if Klock Werks could tint one of its popular Flare™ windshields to match the color on a custom Bagger he built for himself. The bike had a green color theme, so that was Pranschke’s color of choice so Brian gave it a thumbs up and said, “We can try it out of acrylic.” The first time Pranschke posted photos on Instagram, phones at Gjerde’s paint shop and at Klock Werks started ringing. However, Klock Werks wasn’t in a suitable position to market color-tinted Flare windshields – yet.
A couple years later there was another conversation about a tinted Flare, this time from Brian’s friend Ray Drea, a retired Harley-Davidson design expert who happened to be prepping his new Road Glide for Sturgis. Drea added Klock’s orange tint to his black FLT’s Flare windshield, and the color gave a discernible pop to the build.
For the 2022 Daytona Bike Week, Klock Werks sent a few influencers new tinted samples of the new Ice Kolor Flare windshields to try out. Jeremy Seanor of Lucky Strike Designs and Kyle Bertsch of Forever Rad built a lime green
Road Glide owned by Ben Mace using Ice Kolor. And after Ben posted photos on Instagram, people again took notice.
“That started the fire, and production began,” recalled Klock. Soon a new Ice Kolor Flare series to fit most Harley-Davidson Touring models appeared, and those new color-tinted windshields are available now through Drag Specialties.
The Ice name comes from the various hues the colors create based on light and shadows. Think of adding food coloring to ice and then shining a flashlight on it. Each color tint creates its hue based on the bike’s paint and chrome. Klock Werks’ Ice series is available in Red, Blue, Green, Yellow and Orange for the heavyweight Harley Touring models.
Perhaps the Ice Kolor tint’s most striking feature is found in the windshield’s edges where the tint color becomes more intense due to the colorful light wave’s refraction through the acrylic material. The edge practically glows, as if to emphasize the custom color even more.
As noted, the Ice Kolor Flare windshields share the same basic shape, form and performance as the original Klock Werks Flare windshield. But, because the tinting formula is not conducive to the original Flare’s polycarbonate composition, the new Ice Kolor Flare is molded using acrylic, which is more resilient for this kind of custom treatment.

Let your Vintage Harley-Davidson customers know that BDL has a big lineup of belt-drive primary kits for Knuckleheads, Panheads and Shovelheads. They’re for bikes from 1936 up to the last years of the Shovel.
Vintage Harley-Davidsons never go out of fashion or favor. Whether that bike’s going to be a faithfully done cosmetic restoration of an original with some modern hardware sprinkled in or a full-on hot-rod, more often than not there’s a belt-drive primary on the build list.
Hidden behind covers where appropriate or proudly spinning in the breeze when that’s the desired vibe, belt drives are the connoisseur’s touch. Naturally, BDL has beltdrive primary kits for all those Knuckleheads, Panheads and Shovelheads, bikes from the 1936 model years clear through to the last years of the Shovel.
Direct bolt-ons, all these drives adapt the stock Harley clutch right into the new BDL basket and there are plenty of gearing choices for all of this. The kits for the Knuckles, Pans and Shovels all come with a tooth-count in the part number, a 61-39 for instance. The larger number will denote the tooth-count on the basket, the smaller number refers to the front pulley.
Additionally – and ensuring a really easy conversion –there are packages specifically for kickstart bikes, kits for electric-start models, and for the early-bike kits there are belt-drive systems for the tapered engine-sprocket shaft models. There are also bolt-on kits for the splined enginesprocket bikes. Getting it right couldn’t be easier.
Primary upgrades for those venerable oldies from Milwaukee don’t stop with just these smooth running, quiet and low-maintenance early-application belt-drive kits. BDL’s CC-100-S Competitor Clutch package can also be included. A serious step-up all by itself, Competitor Clutch kits feature nine coil springs and shoulder bolts so riders can choose to use either six or nine spring/bolt combinations depending upon the need for pressure plate adjustment, clutch pack pressure and clutch lever pull.
There’s also a large, double-row hub bearing for maximum strength and a non-floating basket assembly that results in smoother clutch operation and positive adjustments. The Competitor’s polished-aluminum pressure plate adds a custom look for the open-belt installations, and the clutch plates are BDL’s race-proven aramid fiber. Installation of all this involves nothing more than a simple press-fit into one of those new BDL early-clutch baskets, or the OEM original, for that matter.
Drag Specialties has all of this, all the belt-drive primary upgrades in all the early-Harley applications, and all the CC-100-S Competitor Clutch packages to go with them. ■

Harley-Davidson’s FLT was born a Touring bike, but recently many FLT owners have chosen to convert their half-ton motorcycles to sportbikes. What gives?
Part of the answer rests in the growing interest in Bagger racing thanks to the popularity of the Bagger Racing League and King of the Baggers series. The competition on the race track, often at fever-pitch levels, feeds a performance trend that’s spreading like wildfire among Big Twin owners.
Fact is, Bagger racing has given rise to Performance Baggers, a whole new custom-bike genre. This, in turn, has led to some of the most innovative and exciting products to hit the motorcycle touring and cruising aftermarket. When it comes to stabilizing the ride of a Touring motorcycle, the trick is to stabilize the front end, and that means installing Ness’s new Method® Triple Tree Kits. There are multiple triple tree options – Top Tree Only, Complete Triple Tree, and plus-2-inch Drop Triple Tree for increasing height and stability to the front end.
Each Method tree allows the use Method risers or T-Bar handlebars for 2015-later Road Glide models. An innovative ignition switch design retains the factory ignition switch or relocates it for a custom look. This ignition switch cover option is recommended when keeping the OEM ignition switch location, fully covering the factory ignition assembly for a finished custom look that also retains the all-important fork lock function.
The Method Riser design relocates factory gauges to the riser top clamp to ensure a clear view of 2014-later FLTR navigation screens and gauges. In addition, the new Method Fork legs feature a performance design with an integrated fork brace. Custom bike builder and fabricator Todd Silicato has been an integral part of the V-Twin scene for a long time now, and the company carrying his name continues to produce highquality parts to quickly customize the look of a V-Twin.
The latest in the long list of Todd’s Cycle products available through Drag Specialties is a new collection of handlebar risers. Designed to work with any Harley-Davidson model with 3½-inch on-center risers, these handlebar risers are a simple way to improve both the riding position and the look of the front end.
The risers are manufactured from billet aluminum, which makes them extremely strong yet light. Even the tallest of the risers will stand steady, meaning the rider won’t experience any flex. The riding experience will be smooth and predictable, as it should be.
Customers have a number of choices when it comes to these handlebar risers. The first step is to determine which clamping option is right: 1 inch or 11/8 inch. From there, customers can go for a rise of 6 inches, 8 inches or 10 inches. Finish options include both chrome and black. Handlebar Swaps Made Easy
Kits That Cover a Range of Bar Upgrades
When it’s time for your customers to swap out their stock bars for a custom handlebar setup, Magnum Shielding has them covered with a lineup of easy-to-use installation kits. The kits cover Harley-Davidson models from 1996 to current, and Indian models going back to 2015. What really sets Magnum apart is its vast selection of sizes, colors and kit configurations.

This avoids the time-consuming hassle of draining the transmission, removing its cover, and possibly the exhaust system, just to replace the clutch cable. Replacement costs are further reduced by utilizing the existing plastic adjuster cover and connector body components of the OE cable.
These cables are designed to make life easy for the installer as well by featuring improvements to the adjuster assembly, which incorporates a sturdy and easy-to-adjust threaded metal cable adjuster to replace the OE plastic clip that’s prone to breaking. A Classic Seat That’s Still Cool
LePera Motorcycle Seats recently celebrated its 50th year in business. Some of the seat designs produced by LePera today have been around for almost as long, and they were designed by the late founder Bob LePera, Sr., making them a special part of the LePera lineup.
One of those seats is the Cherokee. Along with seats like the Baron and Signature Series, the Cherokee is an original seat design by Bob Senior that hasn’t changed all that much since its debut in the ’70s.
The Cherokee is a classic seat all around, and that includes its bobbed and chopped styling. The looks are definitely a hallmark of the decade when the seat was designed, and yet it is still just as cool today as it was then.
LePera produces Cherokee fitments for plenty of HarleyDavidson models, including Baggers, Dynas, FXRs, FXSTs, Milwaukee-Eights, and XLs.
The King/Queen design of the Cherokee seat means the driver has a deep seating area with ample lower back support. Both the driver and passenger benefit from
a wide seating area made from Marathon foam for a ride that is as comfortable as it is stylish.
