“Around the world” is a section devoted to those who practice Drift Trike and stand out one way or another. We are constantly looking for pilots, teams, clubs… worldwide. For this first edition, we have been to the fertile lowland in the river Guadalquivir, in particular, to Palma del Río. This town is located 60 km west of Cordoba (Spain). With a bright sun and temperatures that touch 30 degrees, we get to the Palma del Río Castle. It is a place full of history, also known among the residents as “Mesa de San Pedro walled enclosure”. This unique architectural ensemble will be the perfect background for our photo shoot with Fran, father of two very young riders that today we have come to meet. Raúl and Iván are 10 years old and twins. Of course, they have had that special bond since they were in their mother’s womb. Since it was to be expected, they share their passion for drift trike. It is impressive to see how this sport is getting followers among the very young. They have been telling us between photos how they had built their trike with the help of their father step by step: “We had an old bike and after watching some videos on Youtube, we asked our father to help us build the trike”.

A handmade trike made with care in every single detail where painting and seat construction stand out for the quality of their finish. During the photo shoot, several curious people stopped because they were interested in that trike and they wanted to know what to do with it. RaĂşl e IvĂĄn, as they were two real professionals in this world, explained in detail what drift trike consists in and their own sensations. Suddenly, while checking the photographic material gathered for these pages, Aitana appeared over there. She was a friendly little girl who had got on a trike when nobody was watching and she showed us her beautiful smile which is part of our photographic archive now.

From Ecuador, our friends of Camaleón Drift Trike try to strengthen the image of drift trike in their country day by day. For that reason, (…) they orgaReportaje nized an 16 event in the famous city of Guayaquil. Argentina Although it wasn’t sunny as we would expect at that time, it didn’t discouraged them in the least. With the number bibs hanging from the participating trikes’ handlebars, the event started at 11:00 a.m. where amateur and semi-professional riders could enjoy the extraordinary environment of the Guayaquil Botanical Garden.
Naturally, the nation’s top teams participated in the event: Drift Trike La Troncal, Drift Trike Guayaquil, Drift Trike Monkey and, of course, the organizers, Camaleón Drift Trike. With an excellent atmosphere, during the morning all the teams were fighting and trying to take the longawaited pole position. This competition brought out the best in every participant because it was a combined event with 3 categories: Speed, Obstacle course and Freestyle. A jury gave the score to each pilot. In the category of semi-professional riders, Drift Trike La Troncal team was the clear dominant standing on
the top three: the winner of the category was Oscar Pazmiño, the silver medal went to Pato Padilla and Carlos Padrón ranked third. The winner was given a high-strength detachable chassis made by Camaleón Drift Trike, the second and the third ranked received a batch of accessories and their recognition plaque. However, the amateur category was much more open and tight, where, Camaleón Drift Trike rider, José Manuel Montalvo, won the first place. The second place went to Mike Cedeño, a member of Drift Trike Monkey. And
the third step was for José Daniel Mantilla of Drift Trike Guayaquil. During the awards ceremony, the winner of the category obtained a karting set of tires. Finally, second and the third ranked received a batch of accessories and their recognition plaque. At the end of the event, our friends of Camaleón Drift Trike revealed to us for the first time something that has caught our attention. They intend to organize an extreme event where the highlight will be ramps to perform leaps. We can’t wait for the day of this event because, one more time, Reportaje DTWM will 17 be there to cover innovative and different initiatives. Argentina

We have contacted Team Kamikaze. Despite of their Japanese name and their habit to wave the flag of the rising sun in all their victories, this team was born in the Italian Peninsula and since 2012 they have shown their good shape in the Italian and European events of the SliderKing circuit. Today, we are interviewing Manuele de Faveri, one of the members with the best track record of the circuit.
Introduce your team. Tell us who are the members and when it was formed. Team Kamikaze is composed of 4 riders: Manuele De Faveri (Nº 9), Alessandro Zambon (Nº 74), Davis Campion (Nº 76) and Simone Borsato (Nº 5). Our team was formed in the first race of the SliderKing championship in 2012 and we have been together since then. How long have you know the world of drift trike? How was it? I knew drift trike thanks to Eddy Fedeto and Alessandra Meazzo, creators of the Slider King championship and its regulations at the end of 2011.
How big is your track record as a team? In Slider King, Team Kamikaze is one of teams with more titles. When did you realize the strength of this sport in your country? I realized immediately. It is different from the rest of sports and gives you many sensations. And if we talk about costs, they are relatively low compared with other sports. Why did you choose the name Kamikaze and the peculiar flag with the rising sun? Our team’s name was chosen by my teammate Simone. He said that we must be like Japanese kamikazes: fast, brave and fearless. That’s the reason why we use the Japanese flag of the rising sun, like suicide pilots.

What did you feel when you participated in your first event? Tell us about your experience. I felt very well in my first participation. It was in Passo Giau (Belluno, Italy). I loved the experience and I have participated in all the events of SliderKing since then. What is the most difficult part when participating in championships? Why? The most difficult is when you start at half-way through the season because you have missed several races, you lack many points and you are behind your rivals. That is very difficult to overcome.
What titles have you achieved? Italian Champion of SliderKing 2012 in the category of Slide. Italian Champion of SliderKing 2013 (Slide). Italian Champion of SliderKing 2014 (Slide). Second place in the Sliderking World Championship 2014. How do you see the furute of Drift Trike in your country 10 years from now? And, what about around the world? I think that drift trike will be increasing and in 10 years’ time, it will be at the level of other worldfamous great sports. What projects for the future does Kamikaze Team have? We have planned on appearing more on the media around the world. To do that, we have to keep on

improving our results as a team and make people see that this is a serious sport. And when you don’t think of trikes, how do you occupy your mind? Do you practice any other sport? When I was a child I practiced trial and motocross at a good level. But now, when I don’t ride my trike, I practice descent, karting and motocross, anything that causes me an adrenaline rush.

And the last question to finish this interview. What does Drift Trike provide you whereas other sports just don’t do it?
28 Reportaje Argentina
Drift Trike provides me new sensations and emotions. When I descend at full speed and go sideways in the curves… that’s simply awesome! We want to thank Kamikaze Team and Manuele for giving us this interview.
From Driftrike World Magazine, we will follow closely their new projects. We are looking for people like them, who look forward to helping this sport grow and count on more followers day by day. If you want to tell us about your team, send us an email to zonatrike@hotmail. com in order to know you.

Dani Sainz, spirit of champi ons from his name… to his last name. We are in Cantabria to meet a pilot with a competition las t name and of Spanish origin. Have you heard about the las t name “Sainz”? Yes, it has alw ays been linked to the world of motor and has given a lot of joy and tittles to Spain. Currently, it is present in F1 and the Dakart, but we have another champion in the world of dr ift trike: Dani Sainz, Spanish champion in inertia sports in 2014. Introduction: Tell us a little ab out yourself. Hi everyone! Firstly, I would like to thank Driftrike World Magazine for giving me the opportunity of making mysel f known in the magazine. To tho se who don’t know me, I am a person how dedicates a gre at deal of time in being fit wi th my trike. The truth is that I haven’t named mine, but I think that it’s quite an occasion. As this year I am running with Cuervo Drift Trike team, let’s name it “The white Crow”.
Reportaje When and did you start in the 32how Argentina world of Drift Trike? I took my first steps in this world with my brother Fidel and our good friend and mechanic Rubén. We met this sport in a very common way: through YouTube, as many of the people who start. This was motivation for us to build our first vehicles. Do pilots tend to name their vehicles? What about yours?
Are you thinking about ratifying the tittle this year? I know that it will be hard work because each year there are new rivals and many improvements in the vehicles that enter the competition. But this is what makes it more fun and exciting at the same time, though we will face the challenge eagerly. What is the most difficult thing when participating in championships? Why? I think that the most complicated are qualifying races because many factors influence and some of them
don’t depend on ourselves as, while descending several participants, any bad course or lack of space can play a dirty trick. What do you feel in the middle of a great race? I always try to be very concentrated on the track and calm down when I am at the start line and everything is ready for the countdown. Once we begin the descent, it’s necessary to change my mindset and be prepared for all. Sometimes, I haven’t even realized that some people are cheering me up haha… How widespread do you think Drif Trike will be in your country in a few years? And in the rest of the world? In my opinion, in a year or two in
Spain important events could be organized just as the ones which are organized by SliderKing in Italy, by the way we can’t help feeling healthy envy for what they do for this sport. It is developing at global level very quickly and the level that South American pilots are gaining is amazing. Do you have new projects for the future? Well, I’m starting some of them such as participating in Gravity Bike, but for now my great passion is Drift Trike. I will be competing for a long time even though I do it casually in the category of Gravity Bike. And when you don’t think of trikes, how do you occupy your mind? Do you practice any other sport? In winter, I love practicing snowboard
and I have just begun to ride enduro motorcycle. I really enjoy watching rally car races because I know what pilots feel in those moments. And as we aren’t young and we have to enjoy music in some festivals, I would like to take the opportunity to say hello to my good friends A.R.D.E.N and THE BIRRAS with whom we have shared great moments. Last questions to finish this interview, what does Drift Trike provide you whereas other sports just don’t do it? Adrenaline in its purest form!! When you begin to descend and speed increases up to 70 or 80 km/h and even more depending on the track and if the trike allows it. It’s something amazing!
What do you think about our initiative to create a worldwide magazine? It must be a folly to organize something like this, but it is an impressive initiative for people to know better this sport and the big family who form it. I hope to be able to keep on practicing it for many years and get to knowing so many good people as the people we have known so far. Congratulations guys! Thank you so much to our friend Dani Sainz for his words. From Drifttrike World Magazine we want to give him strength to face a new Spanish championship. 33 Reportaje

The time came for one of the most important events of the year for the second time in a row. On 1st and 2nd August, the “Red Bull Trike Strike” got all the attention in Morro do Ralado, in São Sebastião das Águas Claras, often called Macacos. There, it boasted the best 64 pilots in this edition, showing the best of this sport and the high level it is reaching in the world of drift trike. In this edition, the times have been literally smashed, where some of the pilots both in the individual and team categories showed speeds of up 115km/h in the circuit if we consider that it had only 850 meters length.
39 Reportaje Argentina
In the individual category, the pilots managed to lower their times simultaneously one after another, where Alberto Luiz Davi, often called in the world of sport as Rabicó and native of Pará de Minas, made the best race against the clock of the event with an incredible time of 0.52s.01mm, getting an average of 60km/h. In this way, also Geraldo Pauli and Fábio Pereira ranked second and third respectively just 0.48 tenths later. But the greatest and exciting was yet to come, team battles. In four-person teams, descent after descent these gladiators defended their positions and spaces as authentic racing drivers. The doubles final was one of the most interesting duels, where Edmar Ferreira and Fredy Macedo (Fredão) ranked first in the Red Bull Drift Trike. Sidnei Mattos, from São Paulo and Willian Marcondes from Paraná placed second after a very good race, and finally, to complete the podium, Felipe Faria (Indião) and Cristiano Burguez (Eccel) got a well-deserved third place. The race finished with the pilots posing with their trophies to be photographed.

At the end of the event, it is time to take stock of this championship and we have to say that Red Bull Trike Strike is one of the most followed and long-awaited drift trike events of the year. This girl from Barcelona has Andalusian roots which always made her look at the south. For that reason, when Zayra Trujillo turned 21, she left this city to settle down in Palma del RĂo, Cordoba (Spain) with two very clear ideas: to be hew own boss and to offer a healthy lifestyle. She is the 50% of the gymnasium OXYGEN (Life Sport) and tells us proudly that it is one of the most specialized and complete gyms all over the province of Cordoba. Her curriculum backed by 14 years of experience and lots of titles as an instructor of a great range of
fitness exercises (Step, Pilates, Body Pump, sports nutritionist…). Zayra claims to be addicted to music and lover of animals and nature. As a fitness instructor, she enjoys exercising her body and following a healthy lifestyle. With her lively mind and body, she discloses that she can’t stop for a moment, she needs to occupy all her time with some of her multiple hobbies until she is exhausted. If not, she gets bored. When she has a goal, she never gives up until she achieves it, fruit of her constancy and her will power. She claims to be a pig-headed person. When she is not making her pupils sweat profusely, she likes to relax travelling and discovering new places. We have been told that apart from the different fitness disciplines that you practice, you are passionate about extreme sports. What extreme sports have you practiced? Phew! I have practiced many of them! When I was a little girl I had my own minibike, skied and practiced paragliding because my father was an instructor. He was responsible for my passion for risky sports. During some summers, I practiced rappel, canyoning, rafting, zip line, and descent with my mountain bike in the area of the Pyrenees. When I was a teenager, I started in the world of fitness, but in summer I always used the opportunity to practice new sports like surf and kite surf. Currently, when I can, I visit Sierra Nevada because snowboard is my favorite winter sport. Wow! You are a true thrill seeker! So… What did you think about drift trike when they told you about it for the first time? My first impression was: I need to try it out! It must be amazing!

Tell us about the sensations you felt in your first experience with a trike. It appeared as though I was riding on a chopper (lol). But when I slid and I could see that it turned 180 degrees, I couldn’t help shouting. But after understanding a little better the use of the handlebars and being able to skid for the first time… Wow! They were a few meters, but I felt that I was conquering the world. So I slid again and I felt like holding on the trike completely crossed for far longer and listening to the noise of the wheels while skidding. We have seen that during the photo shoot the people asked you a lot about drift trike. Yes, the people asked me what that trike was and they said that they would like to try out the experience. Moreover, they asked me where they could find out information about it and if it is necessary to have a license to drive it. Also, they asked me if it was difficult to use this type of vehicles. Finally, some of them asked me if it is necessary to wear some protective equipment and where to buy it.

The truth is that drift trike drift trike leaves none unmoved. Tell us about your experience posing for our magazine. I had never posed as a model before. At the beginning, I was a little shy because I only knew one member of the team, but then by joking and laughing I loosened up a little more. The part I enjoyed the most was the swinging of the chains. Then I realized that I could have gone a little crazier and have shown more extreme poses. I’m sure that there will be more opportunities. I hope so, because I had a really good time and I loved the dedication environment that the team had, you can tell that you love what you do. So, can we say that there is a new rider in the city? Of course! I will attend all the events I can and I’ll be there learning, improving and, of course, lending a hand to the team of the magazine, drift trike to the full!
