It’s amazing to think that, after many years of epidemic, the world is finally starting over in many aspects and businesses. I’d like to share with you another collection of stories for this month. Stories that will inspire and drive us to pursue our aspirations while also reminding us that life should be nurtured. Chun Ying Zheng, the 57-year-old Chinese native and owner of China Gate 1001- Dubai, discusses how to develop a business empire on the cover of this month’s issue. Let us experience her inspiring and unbreakable narrative. We emphasized the talk of the town section in the first portion of the magazine, which largely concentrated on the Artiana’s art collections, the wonders of new Madame Tussaud wax figures, and the glories of Palm Pointe. This issue will showcase persons from various industries that have had an influence on all expats in the UAE and are making waves in their respective areas. It will demonstrate how these individuals construct their own empires with fulfillment. You can also smell things cooking from the dining room, as well as Basko’s Mediterranean Restaurant and Roberto’s Wagyu flank steak. I hope you like each section of the magazine since it is a homage to all expats in Dubai who have struggled and overcome adversity.

UBAI: ARTIANA, UAE’s first homegrown auction house for art and luxury collectibles, is pleased to present 40 artworks from leading modern and contemporary artists from South Asia in an online auction to be held from June 27 to 30. The auction features many new-tomarket works by Modernist masters in various media such as oils, acrylics, paper works, and sculptures in a broad and inclusive selection. Leading the auction is Francis Newton Souza (1924 - 2002), referred to as the “Enfant Terrible of Modern Indian Art” for his visionary yet unconventional take on art. He was one of the first Indian painters to achieve international recognition from a newlyindependent India and a leading figure in its then-budding avant-garde movement. As the founding member of the Progressive Artists Group, he was one of the cornerstones from which the Indian Modern Art movement expanded and propelled to the west and eventually the world stage. Throughout his illustrious career, Souza maintained a strong vision for his art, veering away from the traditional school of art of Santiniketan and the realism of the British school of painting. Aiming to make his mark, he capitalised on his strength as a

draughtsman, honing his highly distinctive style and spanning the entire gamut of subjects from nudes, still-life, strongly drawn heads and landscapes. Made in 1961, the cover lot - “Untitled (Landscape)” is part of the culmination of both technique and subject in F.N. Souza’s prime decade. His distinctive style of thick outlines and frenzied composition with thick impasto created from the use of a palette knife is the hallmark of this artist at the height of his creativity. One of the best-selling Indian artists at auction, his works made between 1955 and 1963 rarely come to the market and are in high demand among collectors of Indian Modernism. The auction collection also includes a rare work by M.F. Husain (1915 - 2011) titled “Trinity of Mother Teresa,” painted in 1989. As an Indian icon, Mother Teresa appealed to Husain’s sensibilities as an artist, not only for her work with the poor but also for what the religious figure signifies, a notion of a mother. The artist, whose mother passed away during his childhood, associated the saint as a living personification of his own mother and the very idea of motherhood in general. Therefore, he transformed the dress of The

Missionaries of Charity founded by Mother Teresa - a white, thick cotton sari with a broad blue border - into a metaphor for her. To accentuate the abstract dimension of the robe, he removed the face from the portraits and incorporated images of emaciated children and dying men and women to emphasise Mother Teresa’s boundless love for humankind. Also part of the catalogue is a sculpture by famed contemporary artist G. Ravinder Reddy titled “Head - 06,” a monumental sculpture of a woman’s head showcasing a unique fusion between Western pop art sensibilities and Indian folkloric tradition. In this iconic head, Reddy re- appropriates both the sensual and the sacred, reflecting on the contention between traditionalism and modernity using the female form. The sale also features lots from prominent artists Ram Kumar, Sayed Haider Raza and Jamil Naqsh among many others, with masterworks comprising their signature subjects of abstracted landscapes, the Bindu, and pigeons, respectively.

TALK OF THE TOWN Gandhi has joined the Leaders & Royals zone, alongside the figure of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. He was the very first Indian to be immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds in London. Although Gandhi was known for purposefully avoiding material possessions, one of the very few things he kept and treasured was his alarm pocket watch, that can be seen with his wax figure. Marie Tussaud, the founder and artist behind Madame Tussauds, first established an exhibition over 200 years ago in London - a kind of travelling ‘newspaper’, providing insight into global events and bringing those in the headlines to the people – just as we do today. She started to make wax busts at age 16. She took a cast of Voltaire and soon afterward, Benjamin Franklin, the American Ambassador to France at the time. Her figure can be seen holding the cast of Benjamin Franklin.

ian Barazandeh, a supermodel and business expert, epitomizes perfection in intelligence, purpose, professionalism, and appearance. This 24-year-old guy shaped his fate by establishing goals and practising discipline. Kian is an Iranian-Emirati who has worked in various businesses since 16. He was born in Tehran, Iran, but grew up in the United Arab Emirates. He followed his aim of becoming an athlete while spending most of his journey in Dubai. To reach the pinnacle of his athletic career, he needed to develop his skill. For him, Dubai is where anything can happen, where the impossible can be possible. And indeed, Kian, ironically, had no intention of being a model when he was younger until one day, a fashion aficionado scouted him. This man of perfection is an accomplished young guy who never ceases molding his journey with many goals. He thinks that a happy life is guided by knowledge and inspired by love. His talents extend beyond modeling and athletics to business. His intellect will always generate fresh ideas, original and one-of-akind ideologies. That is why, even at such an early age, he understands how to balance and play with things. The Path to Perfection Kian has spent time polishing and sculpting his skills to establish himself in the fashion world. This chance leads him to build an extensive network and become one of the world’s most renowned personalities.

The Story of Kian Barazandeh: Legendary Supermodel journey to Perfection

“Boasting a distinct modeling appearance that has set me apart from the competition, I have dominated the fashion capitals of the globe, Paris, Milan, and New York City,” Kian said. His multi-cultural look and daring gaze have earned him opportunities to work in the Middle Eastern, Asian, and European markets, expanding his modeling talents for six years. This clever man has a kind demeanor. His priorities include connecting with people and developing relationships. His deep understanding of life made him a disciplined and well-versed guy. Kian utilized his platform to encourage others to be proud of who they are. With almost 200,000 Instagram followers and hundreds of stories about his life, fitness, modeling, and business features from various websites and magazines, this man of grace, in the middle of the social media boom, accepts mistakes and refines abilities based on happiness. “Doing something you love is a method to ensure that you enjoy your time off work; therefore, you must set aside some time after work to rediscover your passion,” Kian explained. When Dubai Vibes Magazine asked Kian what he enjoys most about his present job, he said it gives him a feeling of independence. The fact that he is free to be himself in front of the

camera keeps him enjoying and returning for more. What element is a crown made of? “I’d like to be a mentor and encourage others on how to achieve success. It’s a good feeling to share wisdom with others who wish to advance in life,” Kian said confidently. Steadfast, not all personalities wear a gleaming crown; some must face pain, sacrifices, dangers, and uncertainty to be in the spotlight. As Kian stated while describing his daily hardships, becoming a fashion model is a job for the diligent. Many individuals believe that appearing lovely is as simple as posing. “If only people truly knew the realities of working hard, long hours, the competitiveness for a position with a fashion business, and the uncertainty of your next paid assignment,” he added. Even so, Kian has already accomplished much in his life as a young dreamer in fashion, entrepreneurship, and social media. He still aspires to greatness. Currently, Kian is under contract with Independent Management, one of the world’s largest agencies; from there, he will continue pursuing his passion in Milan.

eing a physician is one of the busiest occupations in the world. It implies a lot of societal duties. Doctors’ calendars are jam-packed with appointments and a 24/7 schedule, and their workload is unlike any other professional. Regardless of the stresses of work, taking care of family and making time for them daily helps foster strong relationships among all members. This is how Dr. Maurizio Viel, an Italian Cosmetic Surgeon, reflects his relationship with his children and wife. Dr. Maurizio grew up in Milan, Italy, and was born in Rome. His family, though, was originally from the lovely city of Venice. He attended a private school in Milan before attending medical school at the University of Milan. He continued his path by attending a cosmetic surgery fellowship in London before opening his private practice on London’s Harley Street. They launched their second brand at Dubai Healthcare City in 2008. He subsequently extended it to Cornerstone Facility at Grosvenor House Hotel, creating a regenerative and medical clinic under one roof. Life as a doctor Dr. Maurizio began his profession in London and afterward worked in several places worldwide. He’d traveled to Dublin, Oslo, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Sao Paolo, Paris, and Milan due to invitations to cooperate with other clinics worldwide. “I still train other medical practitioners about injectables - I went to Russia last year to teach 900 practitioners, as well as South Africa, Australia, Paris, and Milan,” he stated. His Dubai adventure began 14 years ago, and his family now takes advantage of all the city offers. It was in Dubai that his family experienced the

beauties of life. Dr. Maurizio explained that when they opened in Dubai, together with his wife, they had to work hard to build the clinic. At the same time, they were well-established in the United Kingdom, Europe, and among their GCC patients who visited them in London. According to Dr. Maurizio, producing the most pleasing results requires hard effort and attention. He also stressed the need to maintain the quality of the work, the employees, and the patient experience. “People think that it’s an overnight success in the UAE, but like anywhere in the world, it takes a lot of hard work, discipline, and dedication to the job,” he shared. Life as a father He claims that they have been exposed to many different cultures, including the local Emirati culture, and that this is what he and his family desire for their children: to grow up in an international environment. “Family values are a high emphasis in the UAE, what’s best for children and families more than in the Western world, so it’s been lovely to raise the children here,” he continued. As a busy doctor with four wonderful children and various enterprises, the standard 8-hour office hours are insufficient for him with a sizeable public obligation and several businesses. When Dubai Vibes Magazine asked Dr. Maurizio how he manages his time despite the long

hours he spends away from home, he said, “ I want to spend as much time as possible with my family, which is one of the advantages of living in Dubai. The commute isn’t fair, and I can put my children to bed whenever I choose.” Despite their hectic schedules, his family volunteers to help less fortunate people, such as the Harmony House charity in India, which Dubai Cares also supports. The art of cosmetic surgery Many people associate doctors with science alone, but for Dr. Maurizio, it also connotes the arts. His thinking reflects his background as an Italian who adores art. His mother, he claims, has constantly introduced them to the world of art since they were children, from opera singing to museums and fashion. He also enjoys sophisticated artworks such as architecture, interior design, art, and jewelry design. With such a diverse variety of art exposures, it seemed reasonable for him to regard cosmetic surgery as an art form as a doctor. “Good artwork in cosmetic surgery should not be evident but should improve the patient’s face or physique,” he stated. Finally, he stated that his experience as a cosmetic surgeon in an international setting has undoubtedly taught him concepts of true beauty. Every culture and country recognize beauty. The shifting aesthetic landscape has been fascinating.

A

n individual with multipotentialities comes from a wide range of backgrounds and is gifted in various ways. This is the right way to tell the story of Maison Tini’s founder, Mona Jaber. This 33-year-old Jordanian has worked in various fields and businesses, allowing her to become a lady of intelligence and bravery. She attended Boston College and majored in Finance and Economics. She recognized and felt called to a different purpose after graduating. As a result, she studied Sustainable Development at Columbia University. After a while, she applied for jobs in Dubai, notably in Non-Governmental Organizations. The recruiting managers couldn’t figure out how the worlds of finance and sustainable

development could coexist, which was a challenge for him.

Setting up a business is difficult for her, but it is also exhilarating, lucrative, and thrilling.

She accepted a job in accounting out of desperation after trying for several months to find the perfect employment, and she was not satisfied with the 450 days she worked there.

“I truly think that I am assisting other small company owners in reaching new markets and gaining greater visibility by doing what I do every day. This is the smallest influence I can be proud of at this point,” she explained.

Roots and desire Finding her strength Before starting her own business, she went through a succession of hardships, jobs, and tribulations that taught her how to make a difference in the world. Mona served as a short-term consultant for the Millennium Villages Projects in Rwanda. She then worked as an Accountant for a multinational FMCG and as a holistic health coach certified in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She spent years managing a restaurant in Morocco with her spouse based on that foundation. “My interests are varied and crazy. They all have a desire to connect with others and make a difference in the world, no matter how little or large,” she added. She enjoys meeting new people and learning about their lives. She was constantly interested in other people’s plans, ambitions, and dreams. Mona understood from the outset that she wanted to help people, that she enjoyed conducting business and working with women, and that she wanted to do things differently. “Through Maison Tini, I get to accomplish all of that. Every day is different; I get to meet wonderful individuals; I am humbled because other women seek my counsel; I challenge, create, and inspire. I accomplish it all with the help of an army of individuals that believe in me and share my vision,” Mona continued.

One day, while listening to a TED talk about multipotentialities, she realized her actual purpose. She told Dubai Vibes Magazine, “I realized what I enjoyed was building and the process of putting things up, regardless of the business, whether it’s cuisine, fashion, or vehicles. Coming to this conclusion was a watershed moment in my career.” As she started to tell her story, she noted that there would always be individuals who attempted to pull her down, create falsehoods, or even speak negatively about her. But it’s all part of the experience, and she’s learned to let go and do her best. She discovered her luck and destiny when she arrived in Dubai in 2014. She regarded the emirate as her home since it provided her with several options. According to her, you may be anyone you want to be in Dubai. It is critical to discover one’s equilibrium and the appropriate formula to refresh oneself; once you do, it is magical. Finally, she is her ultimate compassionate give back and

looking forward to realizing goal of raising wonderful, people who will continue to inspire others to do the same.

Despite her hectic schedule, the only people she has time for are her two wonderful children.

Mona’s different skills will never be developed if a healthy mix of difficulties and happiness is not there. She said modestly that she was struggling to figure out what to do with all of her enthusiasm and how to make sense of it.

PEOPLE without hesitation. Exactly one month after taking a short vacation, she relocated permanently to Dubai. In addition to teaching English, she became a social media influencer, creating content and motivating women to become the people they want to be. Alexandra has created her fashion firm and is now working on it. Alexandra loves fashion and considers it an extension of her personality.

A

woman will always have equal power as a man. This is a true statement, as Alexandra Ratcova Gavrilovna, a 24-year-old businesswoman, fashion icon, and English language teacher, demonstrates. This lovely young lady was born in the beautiful Republic of Moldova in 1998. She recalls her childhood as a time of pleasure and affection, but she also recalls feeling incomplete due to her father’s absence. Alexandra was reared in a female-dominated environment, where she shaped her goals and decided to rebuild and develop her femininity. Alexandra and her mother eventually relocated to Istanbul, Turkey, for her schooling. When they went to Turkey, the community she had become accustomed to in Moldova was quite different. Life has never been simple for her, even though others at the time believed that those studying in Istanbul were privileged because it is a prominent centre for education. Alexandra was a working student when she experienced becoming a waitress and continued to work while studying. After a while, she finished her five-year university program and graduated as an English language teacher. She chose to visit Dubai a year ago, but after a few days, she realized she wanted to live in the city. Although she had no idea what to do, she was sure she would relocate to the emirate

“I’m quite glad to be doing this business now. And I’m thankful that I can do what makes me happy. Fashion has always been a part of my life as a woman, and I love having it as a career today. But, to be honest, I miss being a teacher again,” she remarked. According to her, one of the difficulties she had was when she decided to relocate to Dubai. It was difficult for her to persuade her mother because she was trying her hardest not to make her upset. “But now I’m so thrilled to see her proud of me since her girl is the only one in the family and community who traveled overseas and started a company in a different nation. I’m delighted I can look after all of them,” she excitingly shared.

“I always dreamed big as a woman and I knew that a woman could be as successful as a man.”

The experience she gained while working as a student taught her how to be successful in life. She has learned valuable lessons in her past jobs that she is now incorporating into her new business.

Despite life’s challenges, she believes these financial and emotional challenges are opportunities for growth and development. Inspiring girls to be superwoman Her life experiences, even at such a young age, are more than enough to motivate young people and women to create and love themselves more. To fulfill her role as an advocate, Alexandra continues to communicate with some females through the internet once she finishes her job. “After work, I train and walk my puppy. After it, I begin my zoom sessions with those females that need assistance in ruining their lives and making better judgments. I am doing this willingly to encourage people since I am trained in this topic via the ICF life coaching program,” she told Dubai Vibes Magazine. Throughout her career as a motivator, she looks ahead and strives to provide for her family, which she is currently doing. In the future, she would like to start her own family here in Dubai. Lastly, she states that our thoughts and aspirations affect our lives. The vibration of our thoughts emits energy throughout the universe. As a result of the emitted energy, a return will occur. To achieve our dreams and ideas, we must regulate them appropriately.

mpty Roads - a newly established, Dubai based creator of performance cycling wear – has announced the launch of its first range of sustainable cycling apparel. The range utilises certified Italian fabrics made from recycled polyester (RPET) with each jersey recycling the equivalent of 11 plastic water bottles for its production. The manufacturing process employs 100% renewable energy & water efficient processes while all packaging utilises recycled and recyclable materials.

Available exclusively via the Empty Roads website all items are limited editions, with no more than 100 pieces of each garment being available to buy and featuring a low-impact care guide. This small batch ethos minimises the risk of over production while the care guide further enhances the sustainable credentials of the range Damian Lyons, Owner and Founder of Empty Roads said: “We are extremely proud and excited to be introducing our performance clothing to the UAE. The region’s commitment to further developing the cycling infrastructure, and the continuing growth of the cycling community across the UAE, is fantastic for riders of all ability and styles and mirrors the passion we have for the sport. The overwhelming majority of cyclists are aware of the environmental challenges we currently face and are understandably proud of the eco-friendly credentials of cycling. However, most of the cycling apparel on the market, and in use right now, is made from virgin polyesters which are essentially new plastic-based fibres. Without change, the popularity of our sport will fuel an increase in plastic production to fuel the demand for these polyesters. As Empty Roads grows, we are committed to developing more sustainable solutions from design and materials, through production to end of use. We believe that recycling and repurposing already existing plastics to create our clothing is a significant step in the right direction. The fabrics we use perform, look and feel exactly the same as virgin polyester-based kit, so there is little reason not to make this change right now.”
