What you hold in your hands right now is the result of the biggest challenge we’ve had to face in our 9 years of history... As you may know we are a 100% independent magazine, and this is our biggest advantage and at the same time a disadvantage. Advantage because we do not depend on any company that could be affected by the “crisis”, and disadvantage because we finance this whole project by our own means :-). More than ever thanks to our team, clients and sponsors for making this happen, you know who you are! This is, more than ever, a year of challenges which, in my opinion, is the better word for “crisis”, because really there is no such thing, it is only something that happens in your own head. We are all responsible for what is going on right now, be it in a passive or active way, by which I mean you either let it happen or you are part of it... It is difficult to say which is worse, so let’s say both lead to disaster. And anybody who is still blaming others for what goes wrong in their life will come quickly to an end. This is more than ever a time for awakening; we have all become so terribly comfortable with what is going on around us that it is no wonder that we find ourselves where we are right now. And if you still think that you cannot change the world let me tell you that you are totally wrong. You maybe cannot change the whole world, but you can change yours, and if all of us do that then, yes, we can change it. You will find some interesting interviews and information in this issue, including some visions of the future, and this is the point I want to get to: There is nothing to fear in what is to come, if you keep your mind open and your heart free of sorrow there is nothing to worry about, whatever happens. And let’s be honest, the world has to become a better place, and you can and must be a part of it.

Lo que ahora tienes en las manos es el resultado del mayor reto que hemos tenido que afrontar en los 9 años de nuestra existencia... Como sabéis somos una publicación 100% independiente y eso es al mismo tiempo una ventaja y una desventaja. Es una ventaja porque no dependemos de una empresa que podría verse afectada por la actual ‘crisis’, y una desventaja porque financiamos este proyecto de forma un tanto azarosa :-) Más que nunca, gracias a nuestro equipo, a los clientes y a los patrocinadores por hacer esto posible, ¡ya sabéis quiénes sois! Este año más que nunca es un año de retos, palabra en mi opinión mucho más adecuada que ‘crisis’, porque no hay tal cosa. La crisis está sobre todo en nuestras mentes. Todos somos responsables de lo que está pasando ahora, ya sea de forma pasiva o activa; es decir, o dejas que ocurra o incluso participas en ello... Es difícil decir qué actitud es peor, así que digamos que las dos llevan al desastre. Los que aún echan la culpa de los errores en su vida a los demás acabarán mal. Ahora más que nunca debemos despertar. Todos nos acomodamos tan ricamente a lo que estaba pasando a nuestro alrededor que no debería sorprendernos encontrarnos como estamos ahora. Y si todavía piensas que tú no puedes cambiar el mundo, deja que te diga que estás equivocado. Quizás no puedes cambiar el mundo entero, pero puedes cambiar tu mundo. Y si todos lo hacemos, sí que podremos cambiar todo el mundo. Encontrarás entrevistas e informaciones interesantes sobre el tema en esta edición, entre otras, algunas visiones del futuro. Y ahí es donde quería llegar: no hay que tener miedo del futuro. Si tienes una mente abierta y un corazón feliz no debes preocuparte, pase lo que pase. Y, seamos sinceros; ¡el mundo tiene que mejorar! Tú puedes y debes ser parte de ello.

DUB PRESENTS THE ANNUAL POCKET GUIDE OF ‘WHERE TO GO, WHAT TO DO AND WHEN...’. THIS IS A PERSONAL SELECTION OF OUR FAVOURITES, THERE ARE MANY MORE PLACES BUT WITH OUR SELECTION YOU WILL BE JUST FINE. FOLLOWING THE SAME PROCEDURE AS EVERY YEAR, WE DO OUR GUIDE DEPENDING ON THE TIME OF DAY, SO LET’S START IN THE MORNING: To ‘break-your-fast’ in Ibiza town you have a variety of options, we still recommend the Croissant Show, from 07:30 on you can get your caffeine dose and the finest patisseries… In Sunset Café not only can you have a relaxed coffee, snack, juice or whatever,

but you can also choose from different delicatessens to take away - We are family... On the backside, facing the old town wall, you will find Out of Time People, not just breakfast but a real spiritual encounter! If you want to have a cheap but very filling breakfast you can go to Buenissimo in Vara de Rey, always packed and just as good! You’re staying somewhere outside Ibiza town? In Jesus you have to visit the Croissant Show or the Bon Lloc. Cana Negreta on the road to Sta. Eulalia offers you Bar Toni, coffee for 1 Euro! In Sta. Eulalia you should visit the Croissant Show or the Maritim Café in the Puerto Deportivo. San Carlos offers Bar Anita, THE reference for breakfast, bocadillos, tapas etc…

San Juan is just as original, there the place is called Vista Alegre, or try Eco, they just opened their own restaurant. In San Lorenzo La Paloma is where you should go, not just good breakfast but a fantastic brunch and buffet as well! In San Miguel you have to visit the ‘Café of the false teeth’ in the market place, coffee for 85 cents! Sta. Gertrudis, still my favourite, offers savoury breakfasts from 08.00h at Can Partit or try Musset, good breakfast, breads and midday menus are back. If you stay in San Antonio you should visit the very end of the port, there you find the Café des Port, best food at best prices. Or try Kumharas in the west end, they stay open the whole day, with breakfast, lunch, exotic din3.1

ner and unique Ibiza Spirit. In San Rafael you should try the Café Centre, THE place for a strong coffee and more. Sta. Ines offers the famous Bar Cosmi, not just for Breakfast. Broke-your-fast? Then let’s go and get some sun. If you are into sunbathing be very careful, don’t stay too long or if you do use high quality sun protection! In Salinas my first choice will always be Sa Trinxa, unique crowd, balearic beats and high quality food… and try the Sangria! Jockey Club, the adjacent Malibu and Guaraná are beautiful spots as well. In Es Cavallet, on the other side of Salinas, you can find the Es Cavallet Chiringuito or the Chiringuay further down the beach, the latter is home to the more colourful crowd - a dream! In Playa d’en Bossa you find lots of new spots, like Delano, fashionable music, cocktails and more, Sands is just as cool and Ushuaia is just as hot, Nassau Beach offers high quality service at a high price – but worth it. And Bora Bora just goes on and on and on…! Cala d’Hort has the view to the legendary Es Vedra, 360 meters of magnetic rock… Sa Caleta is a dream for bathing, as is Es Codolar behind the airport with the Macao Café on the rocks. It is situated on a pebble beach, but has crystal clear water – dogs are welcome! Cala Jondal presents Yemanja, Blue Marlin and Tropicana, all very fashionable and perfect to relax, see and be seen. San Antonio is massive, but you have to know where to go. A must is the SunSeaBar or the Golden Buddha round the corner, not to forget Kumharas (again), obligatory for best sunsets, a place you cannot miss if you want to find the real Ibiza. Cala Moli is a secret tip, (one of those we will tell you, because our last resorts have to be kept secret … sorry), after San Antonio head south and follow the signs, it is worth the search! Cala Xarraca high up in the north is a must-see as well, or Cala Benirras next to San Miguel, once home to the legendary drum festival… Aguas Blancas on the way to San Vicente is a perfect spot to take a dip, best water and relatively few people. Between Sta. Eulalia and Jesus comes Cala Llonga, follow the signs to Amante (Ex Sol d’en Serra), a hidden spot surrounded by rocks, a perfect restaurant, best to relax and chill… We must not forget s’Estanyol, go half way from Jesus to Talamanca, take a left up the mountain 8

and then follow the signs, it’s the perfect spot to disconnect and recharge your batteries… Shopping? For sure, you are on holiday! The price range is enormous, but all named here are worth a visit: Las Dalias just before San Carlos is home to the one and only Hippie market, here everybody finds something really original. The new Bazaar on the way to Sta. Gertrudis is also offering a craft fair, amongst other activities. For leather you should go to Darío Bomé in San Miguel, see Manfred Postel’s shop in Sta. Ines or visit Te Cuero in Sta. Gertrudis, for souvenirs and fashion go to Histericcompliments on Vara de Rey. You can find all sport brands cheap in La Sirena, there are lots on the island. You should visit the old town of Ibiza, this is the real Ibiza, you just have to look around! A definite must is the White Horse in the c/ de la Virgen. Hippychic is another secret tip; you can find it in three places: c/ Ses Figueres in Talamanca, c/ Cesar Riquet/road to es canar, and the Dalt Villa in c/ Santa Cruz. In Fashion Pirate on the Vara de Rey you can get quality fashion for a reasonable price. The price spiral in Ibiza is very widespread, there are no limits. Possibilities for extreme shopping are e.g. Heaven in Marina Botafoch, the NIC in Vara de Rey, or EGB in c/ Bartolome Rosello, though the latter is also offering a range of very reasonably priced clothing this year. Hunger… a basic need, and here in Ibiza you should pay special attention to it, because the nights are very exhausting. Power food is available in various places. Cheap, good, fresh and fast? Comida San Juan and Los Pasajeros in Ibiza Town. Fresh fish? Hotel La Marina in the port. If you want to meet a legend look for El Bigote next to Cala Bou, THE secret tip. The Sushipoint in Marina Botafoch is a hotspot for sushi, as is Wok&Roll in Sta. Gertrudis. The new Sade in Jésus offers Sushi and Fusion food. Want some real Indian food? Try the Ancient people on the Avenida España, best food for best price, and the Dahl is a must! Thai food is available at its best in the Bambuddha Grove on the road to San Juan. Atzaró in the north is a dream ambient for high qual-

ity food and more. Last but NOT least try Casa Thai 2 on Avda. Isidoro Macabich/San Antonio. Shardana is a new restaurantin Playa d’en Bossa, dining in easy lounge atmo. Meat? Es Canto in Sta. Gertrudis for the best beefsteak. Or Foodism in Sta. Gertrudis, you HAVE to try their solomillo (sirloin) or their delicious perca (perch), it is to die for! Bacchus is another hotspot, high quality food at reasonable prices in a beautiful surrounding. Best Jamon Serrano-Bocadillo? Bar Costa in Sta. Gertrudis. The s’Altra Banda, also in Sta. Gertrudis, offers good fusion food. You like it raw? Try the Parawdiso in Sta. Gertrudis, you never charged your batteries in a healthier way! La Luna Nell’ Orto in San Miguel is one of the most authentic restaurants of all times. It is situated where the first hippie market in Ibiza used to be held! Sapori Divini is an exceptional restaurant on km2 of the Es Canar road in Sta. Eulalia, they have some of the world’s best pastas and a lot more. Casa Colonial on the road to Sta. Eulalia is a real escape into another world, best fusion food and service! In Km5 on the road to San Jose you can have fantastic meat in a unique atmosphere, a real trip. A great escape is the Boutique Hostal Salinas just after the roundabout of Salinas, high-quality tasty food in a beautiful setting – killer! The Es Tanco in San Rafael serves the best ‘entraña’ (Argentinean cut of meat) on the island. If you want to eat a REAL chicken you have to go to Can Balafia on the road to San Juan, you’ve never tried chicken like this before, all homemade, from the potatoes their very own free range chicken to their Hierbas. In San Antonio we have to mention Kumharas again and again, finest fusion food flavoured with easy beats. Sta. Eulalia is home to Es Rickshaw, which also does fusion food at a good price! Expensive and worth it? Sa Capella up in San Antonio, El Ayoun and L’Elephant in San Rafael, Las dos Lunas on the San An - Sta. Ines road or Ama Lur by the Sta. Gertrudis roundabout. You prefer fast food? The Huehner Karl in Sta. Eulalia for German style, Mister Kebap also in Sta. Eulalia or Albertos Doener in Playa d’en Bossa opposite the former Kiss. Best Burger? Discoburger on calle Bartolome Rosello/Ibiza. Best Sunset Dinner? Definitely Kumharas in San Antonio, the Golden Buddha and the SunSeaBar at the other end of San An, Benirras in San Miguel, las Puertas del Cielo above Sta. Ines, Sunset Ashram in Cala

Comte and, in some months, Cala d’Hort with the view to Es Vedra - or any other of the countless beaches on the west side of Ibiza, you just have to look for them :-) Something missing? Oh yeah, it is what most of you come for: PARTYYY! Clubs will still have to close at 6 a.m. but anyway - Partying here is amongst the best worldwide... More than 400 bars, 7 big clubs and 5-10 small ones and at least 300 DJ cabins waiting to be spinned. For a perfect warm-up visit the Mambo Bar in Ibiza’s port or the Reunion Bar by Ulises Braun next to the Rock Bar. Next must-see is our most beloved Lo Cura by Düsi and Anita, joined by We Love resident David Phillips and the legendary Juan, finest beats and the best mojitos in town. Another must are the Bars Noctambula, Dome, Bar Alegria and the Hed Kandi Bar, all close to each other. Next Step is Grial, endless years in a row hotspot in the winter, and this summer we can expect a lot more, they will maintain a fine schedule of bookings all through the season. Another strike is Blu (former Blue Rose) in Figueretas. Fine nights with Cocoon presenting Microclub and a lot more! Another beautiful hotspot in Figueretas is the Club Somni on the Paseo Marítimo at the Hotel Ibiza Playa, various parties in the most stylish surroundings. In Sta. Eulalia you should go to Guarana, Sundays live music, the other days you can enjoy some of the finest house music. Aura on the way to San Juan caters to the English crowd, they will hold some special DDD events during the summer as well as Ernesto’s Short Rec. night, watch out for posters! Bambuddha on the same road will prepare some surprises as well. In San An Bar M will be home to the Manumission crowd, offering some mind-blowing rock sessions you cannot miss, as will the Ibiza Rocks Hotel! Ibiza-Origins? Las Dalias on the way to San Carlos will hold fine events like every year. Our beloved Underground on the Ibz – San An road is another of our living rooms, best beats by Juanito, Justin Fields and guests. Km5 on the road to San Jose has definitely the most beautiful garden; here you meet them all in the perfect surroundings. Let’s go to the clubs! Nowhere else in Europe will you find such a high concentration of big clubs. Let’s start with Space, they keep 3.1

Privilege is as big as usual, Tiesto is rocking the Mondays, Wednesdays belong to Meganite, Monza celebrates a massive 5 years anniversary on Thursdays with lots of surprises, Supermartxé keeps the Fridays and Saturdays Baby Marcello + Oliver host The Face of Ibiza. Pacha made big changes, Mondays is now home to the Swedish House Mafia, Tuesdays is Retro, Wednesdays is still Erick Morillo’s Subliminal, Thursdays F... me I’m Famous, Fridays is still Pure Pacha, Saturdays host Defected and Sundays is Flower Power! Divino is very invisible this year, we know that the Pirates Party is on Thursdays, Fridays is Fierce Angels, Saturdays is Carwash and Sundays is hosted by a newcomer, Ibiza Planet. DC10 seems to be closed forever; the legend seems to be history...! Martina in Playa d’en Bossa, next to Hotel Garbi, hosts different nights like the french party Satisfy on Mondays, Scandal hosts Tuesdays, on Wednesdays comes a new night called Five, Thursdays belong to Housexy and Sundays is Sexy Sugar. 10

San An’s clubs have a new entry with Boho (previously Extasis next to the Egg), Mondays is Desert Island Disco, Tuesdays is Filth, Wednesdays Atomic, Thursdays host Mr. C’s Superfreq, Miss Moneypennys opts for Fridays, Saturdays they present Sw.Ankys and Sundays is Sintillate. Good Luck from dub! Eden’s best Parties are Pete Tong’s Wonderland Fridays, Mondo Loco Saturdays and massive Judgement Sunday. Es Paradis remains with their legendary Fiesta del Agua on Wednesdays and Sundays are taken by newcomer Prang. Last Entry is the Gala Night in San An’s Benimussa, a beautiful massive space for all sorts of activities, they host As One on Mondays, Wednesdays are Channel Zoo and Saturdays the Zoo Project, some of Ibiza’s last day-time parties with really interesting lineups... You see, there is more than you can take, so choose well where to go, holidays are short, and in Ibiza even shorter, as there is so much on offer you cannot do it all. Or can you?? Time to go to bed... Cheap and good is the Casa Huespedes in Ibiza, Vara de Rey, a secret spot is Pepitas in Salinas, talking about Salinas we present a new hotspot, the Boutique Hostal Salinas hosted by Düsi, Anita + David, 11 exclusive rooms, incredible food and a super nice lounge – our tip! If you want to party even in the hotel go to the Jet Hotels in Playa d’en Bossa or to Es Vivé in Figueretas, they host DJs, VIPs and some real stars! Pacha Hotel is, as the name indicates, another hot spot for 24h partying… Another tip is the Hotel Punic on the way to Sa Caleta, a place for friends... Atzaro or Can Curreu are a dream for Agro tourism, you will find more places in the countless Guides. You can find numbers of almost all the aforementioned places in our yellow pages! Desde las 7:30 en adelante puedes conseguir tu dosis de cafeína y la mejor bollería… en el Sunset Café no sólo puedes relajarte con un café, aperitivo, cerveza o lo que sea, también puedes elegir entre una gran variedad de productos gourmet para llevar. Somos parte de la familia… En la parte de atrás, frente a la muralla, encontrarás el Out of Time People, ¡no sólo un desayuno sino un verdadero encuentro espiritual! Si quieres un desayuno barato pero sustancioso, puedes ir al Buenissimo en Vara de Rey, ¡siempre lleno e igual de bueno! ¿Estas fuera de la ciudad de Ibiza? En Jesús tienes que visitar el Croissant Show o el Bon Lloc. Cana Negreta en la carretera de Sta. Eulalia te propone el Bar Toni, ¡café a 1 euro! En Sta. Eulalia también deberías visitar el Croissant Show, o el Café Marítimo en el Puerto Deportivo. San Carlos te ofrece el Bar Anita, EL punto de referencia para desayunos, bocadillos, tapas, etc.… San Juan es igual de original, allí el lugar se llama Vista Alegre, o prueba el Eco que acaba de abrir su propio restaurante. En San Lorenzo donde debes ir es a la Paloma, no sólo ofrece buenos desayunos, ¡también fantásticos almuerzos/brunch y buffets! En San Miguel tienes que visitar el ‘Café de las dentaduras postizas’ en el mercado, ¡café a 85 céntimos! Sta. Gertrudis, que sigue siendo mi favorito, ofrece sabrosos desayunos desde las 8:00 en Can Partit, o prueba Musset, donde vuelven los desayunos, panes y menús a mediodía. Si estás en San Antonio deberías visitar el Café des Port al final del puerto, la mejor comida al mejor precio. O te vas al Kumharas en el lado oeste, están abiertos todo el día, con desayunos, almuerzos, cenas exóticas y puro espíritu ibicenco. En San Rafael deberías probar el Café Centre, es EL lugar para un café cargadito y más. Sta. Inés ofrece el famoso Bar Cosmi, no sólo para desayunos.

¿Des-ayunaste? Pues vamos a tomar el sol. Si es lo que os gusta, tener cuidado, ¡no os expongáis mucho tiempo y protegeros con una buena crema solar! En Salinas mi primera elección siempre será Sa Trinxa, la mejor gente, la mejor música y comida de lujo… ¡y tienes que probar la sangría! El Jockey Club y el Malibú y el Guaraná que están al lado, son también lugares muy bonitos. En Es Cavallet, al otro lado de las Salinas, encuentras en la playa el Chiringuito Es Cavallet o el Chiringuay más allá, que es donde se junta la gente más pintoresca. ¡Un sueño! En Playa d’en Bossa hay muchos sitios nuevos, como el Delano, música de moda, cócteles y más, Sands es igual de ‘cool’ y Ushuaia igual de ‘caliente’, el Nassau Beach brinda un servicio de alta calidad a precios también altos – pero vale la pena. ¡Y el Bora Bora sigue y sigue y sigue…! Cala d’Hort te ofrece la vista de la legendaria Es Vedrá, 360 metros de roca magnética… Sa Caleta es un sueño para bañarse, al igual que Es Codolar, detrás del aeropuerto, con el Macao Café ‘on the rocks’. Está en una playa de guijarros, pero el agua es cristalina y ¡puedes llevar al perro! Cala Jondal brinda el Yemanja, el Blue Marlin y el Tropicana, todos muy ‘fashion’ y perfectos para relajarse, ver y ser visto. San Antonio es masivo y hay que saber dónde ir. Un sitio que no te debes perder es el SunSeaBar, o el Golden Buddha a la vuelta de la esquina, sin olvidar Kumharas (de nuevo), obligatorio para las mejores puestas de sol, un lugar que no te puedes perder para encontrar el verdadero Ibiza, Cala Moli es un secreto (uno de los secretos que te revelamos, ya que otros, sintiéndolo mucho, nos los reservamos como último recurso…). Después de San Antonio, dirígete al sur, sigue las indicaciones, ¡merece el esfuerzo que cuesta encontrarlo! Cala Xarraca, en la punta norte, es otro sitio que deberías visitar, o Cala Benirrás junto a San Miguel, donde antes se celebraba el legendario festival de tambores… Aguas Blancas, de camino a San Vicente, es perfecto para una zambullida, agua insuperable y relativamente poca gente. Entre Sta. Eulalia y Jesús está Cala Llonga, sigue las indicaciones a Amante (ex Sol d’en Serra), un restaurante perfecto escondido entre las rocas, lo mejor para relajarse y descansar… Pero no debemos olvidarnos de s’Estanyol, a mitad de camino entre Jesús y Talamanca, gira a la izquierda 3.1

subiendo la montaña y sigue los carteles. Un lugar para desconectar y recargar pilas… ¿Vamos de compras? Claro que sí, ¡estás de vacaciones! La gama de precios es enorme pero todos lo que citamos merecen una visita: Las Dalias, justo antes de San Carlos, es donde está el solo y único mercado hippy. Ahí todo el mundo encuentra algo realmente original. El nuevo Bazaar, en la carretera de Sta. Gertrudis, también ofrece un mercado artesanal, además de otras actividades. Para artículos de cuero debes ir a Darío Bomé en San Miguel, a la tienda de Manfred Postel en Sta. Inés o a Te Cuero en Sta. Gertrudis; para souvenirs y moda, Histericcompliments en Vara del Rey. Encuentras todas las marcas deportivas a buen precio en La Sirena, hay muchas en la isla. Debes visitar d’Alt Villa de Ibiza, esa es la verdadera Ibiza, ¡sólo tienes que mirar a tu alrededor! El White Horse en la calle de la Virgen es obligatorio. Hippychick, es otro consejo secreto; hay tres en la isla: en la calle Ses Figueres de Talamanca, calle César Riquer Puget (ctra. a Es Canar) y en la calle Santa Cruz de Alt Villa. En Fashion Pirate en Vara de Rey puedes comprar artículos de moda de calidad a precios razonables. La espiral de precios en Ibiza está muy extendida, no hay límites. Ejemplos de las posibilidades de compras extremas son: Heaven en Marina Botafoch, NIC en Vara del Rey, o EGB en la calle Bartolomé Rosselló. Aunque esta última ha lanzado este año una gama de ropa a precios muy asequibles ¿Hambre?… una necesidad básica, y en Ibiza hay que prestarle especial atención ya que las noches son agotadoras. Encuentras comida vigorizante en varios sitios. ¿Rápido, fresco, bueno y barato? Comidas San Juan y Los Pasajeros en Ibiza ciudad. ¿Pescado fresco? Hotel La Marina en el puerto. Si quieres conocer un lugar legendario busca El Bigote al lado de Cala Bou, EL consejo secreto. Para Sushi os recomendamos el Sushipoint en Marina Botafoch, el Wok&Roll en Sta. Gertrudis y el nuevo Sade en Jesus, sushi y fusion food. ¿Quieres verdadera comida india? 12

Prueba el Ancient People en la avenida de España, la mejor comida al mejor precio, ¡tienes que probar el dahl (lentejas indias)! En Bambuddha Grove, en la carretera a San Juan, se encuentra la mejor comida tailandesa. Pero NO hay que olvidar Casa Thai 2 en la Avda. Isidoro Macabich/San Antonio ¿Carne? Es Canto en Sta. Gertrudis tiene los mejores filetes. O Foodism en Sta. Gertrudis. TIENES QUE probar su solomillo o su deliciosa perca ¡Está buenísimo! otro sitio que hay que mencionar es Bacchus; comida de alta calidad a precios razonables en un entorno precioso. ¿El mejor bocadillo de jamón serrano? Bar Costa en Sta. Gertrudis. También en Sta. Gertrudis, S’Altra Banda ofrece buena comida de fusión. ¿Te gusta lo crudo? Prueba el Parawdiso en Sta. Gertrudis, ¡imposible cargar las pilas de forma más sana! La Luna Nell’ Orto en San Miguel es uno de los restaurantes más auténticos de todos los tiempos. ¡Está donde antes se celebraba el que fue el primer mercado Hippy de Ibiza! Sapori Divini es un restaurante excepcional en el km 2 de la carretera de Es Canar en Sta. Eulalia. Tienen unas de las mejores pastas del mundo y mucho más. Casa Colonial, en la carretera de Sta. Eulalia, es un verdadero escape a otro mundo, ¡la mejor comida de fusión y el mejor servicio! También encuentras carne fantástica en el Km5 en la carretera a San José en un ambiente único, una pasada. Un buen refugio es el Boutique Hostal Salinas justo después de la rotonda de Salinas, comida de alta calidad en un bello entorno, y si después no puedes conducir hay habitaciones - ¡increíble! El Es Tanco en San Rafael te sirve la mejor “entraña” (corte de carne argentina) de la isla. Si quieres comer pollo DE VERDAD tienes que ir a Can Bafalia en la carretera a San Juan, nunca has probado pollo así antes, todo casero, desde las patatas hasta las hierbas pasando por sus propios pollos payeses. En San Antonio tenemos que volver a mencionar Kumharas una y otra vez; la mejor comida fusión condimentada con buena música. En Sta. Eulalia se encuentra Es Rickshaw, comida fusión también a buen precio. ¿Caro pero que merece la pena? Sa Capella en San Antonio, El Ayoun y L’Elephant en San Rafael, Las Dos Lunas en la carretera Ibiza – San Antonio o el Ama Lur en la rotonda de Sta. Gertrudis. ¿Prefieres comida rápida? El Huehner Karl en Sta. Eulalia al

estilo alemán. También en Sta. Eulalia Mister Kebab o Albertos Doener en Playa d’en Bossa, enfrente del antiguo Kiss. ¿La mejor hamburguesa? Discoburger en la calle Bartolomé Rosselló/Ibiza. ¿Cena con puesta de sol incluida? Sin duda Kumharas en San Antonio, el Golden Buddha y el SunSeaBar en la otra punta de San Antonio, Benirrás en San Miguel, las Puertas del Cielo encima de Sta. Inés, Sunset Ashram en Cala Compte y, en algunos meses, Cala d’Hort con vistas a Es Vedrá, o cualquier otra de las numerosas playas en el lado oeste de Ibiza. ¡Sal a encontrarla tu mismo! :-) ¿Falta algo? Ah, si, lo que la mayoría de vosotros viene buscando: ¡FIESTA! La mayoría de las discotecas tiene que cerrar a las 6 de la mañana pero en cualquier caso este es uno de los mejores lugares del mundo para ir de fiesta… Más de 400 bares, 7 grandes discotecas y unas 5 a 10 pequeñas, como mínimo 300 cabinas de DJ esperando que alguien pinche. Para un perfecto comienzo de la noche visita el Mambo Bar en el puerto de Ibiza, o el Reunion Bar de Ulises Braun al lado del Rock Bar. Después vas a mi amado Lo Cura, de Düsi y Anita, a quienes se han unido el residente de We Love, David Phillips y el mítico Juan, con los mejores beats y los mejores mojitos. Sin falta hay que visitar la Noctambula, Dome, Space Bar y el Hed Kandi Bar, todos estan cerca. El siguiente paso es el Grial, por muchos años seguidos el ganador en invierno, y este verano podemos esperar mucho más, van a mantener una programación excelente durante toda la temporada. Otro éxito es Blu (antes el Blue Rose) en Figueretas. Habrá buenas noches con Cocoon presentando Microclub, ¡y mucho más! Otro bonito sitio de moda en Figueretas es el club Somni en el Hotel Ibiza Playa en el Paseo Marítimo, con varias fiestas en un entorno con gran estilo. En Sta. Eulalia tienes que ir al Guaraná, los domingos hay música en directo, los otros días podéis disfrutar de lo mejorcito del house. De camino a San Juan tienes Aura, con su clientela mayormente inglesa, este verano van a celebrar algunos eventos de DDD y la noche de Ernesto’s Short Rec. ¡estad atentos a los posters! Bar M acogerá a la gente de Manumission, con sesiones de rock flipantes que no te puedes perder, así como las del Ibiza Rocks Hotel ¿Los orígenes de Ibiza? Las Dalias de camino a San Carlos es otro que ofrece sus buenas fiestas de siempre. Nuestro amado Underground en la carretera Ibiza – San Antonio es otro de nuestros hogares, los mejores beats por Juanito, Justin Fields e invitados. El Km5 en la carretera de San José decididamente tiene el jardín más bonito, aquí te encuentras con todos en el entorno perfecto. ¡Vamos ya a las discotecas! No hay otro sitio de Europa con una concentración tan grande de macro-discotecas. Empecemos con Space, lo mantienen bastante básico este año presentando sus propias fiestas como Monday Calling, Be@Space con Tom Novy, Wally Lopez + Elio Riso, Café Olé con sus DJ residentes; los sábados con Hed Kandi son nuevos, pero también siguen los clásicos como Carl Cox los martes y We Love… los domingos. Amnesia sigue con marcha, los lunes son de Cocoon, que celebran sus 10 años en Ibiza con un ‘big bang’… ¡Leed más en nuestra entrevista con Sven! Los martes es Armada en la sala principal con Roger Sanchez en la terraza, La Troya ha vuelto a los miércoles, los jueves siguen siendo Cream y los viernes siguen People from Ibiza y Made in Italy. Matinée también cumple 10 años los sábados y finalmente los domingos se presenta la nueva fiesta Contact con Espuma. Privilege sigue igual de grande, Tiesto se sale los lunes, los miércoles son de Meganite, Monza cumple 5 grandes años y lo celebra los jueves con muchas sorpresas, Supermartxé es ya un habitual de los viernes y los sábados son de Baby Marcello y Oliver con The Face of Ibiza. Pacha ha hecho muchos cambios, los lunes ahora albergan a Swedish House Mafia, los martes es Retro, los miércoles siguen siendo de Subliminal de Eric Morillo, F... Me I’m Famous los jueves, los viernes continúa Pure Pachá, Defected los sábados y los domingos Flower Power.

El Divino se ha hecho invisible este año, sabemos que hay el Pirate Party los jueves, Fierce Angels los viernes, Carwash los sábados y algo nuevo los domingos: Ibiza Planet. DC10 parece haber cerrado para siempre, ¡una leyenda que ya es historia…! Martina en Playa d’en Bossa, junto al hotel Garb, tendrá varias atracciones nocturnas, como la fiesta francesa Satisfy los lunes, Scandal los martes, la nueva fiesta Five los miércoles, los jueves son de Housexy y los domingos de Sexy Sugar. Hay un sitio nuevo en San Antonio, el Boho (antes Extasis, al lado del huevo de Colón), los lunes tienen el Desert Island Disco, los martes Filth, los miércoles Atomi, los jueves Superfreq de Mr.C, Miss Moneypennys porta por los viernes, los sábados presentan Sw.Ankys y los domingos Sintillate. Dub les desea ¡buena suerte! Las mejores fiestas de Eden son los viernes con Wonderland de Pete Tong, Mondo Loco los sábados y el masivo Judgement Sunday los domingos. Es Paradis sigue con su legendaria Fiesta del Agua y los domingos presenta al nuevo Prang. La última entrada es Gala Night en Benimussa (San Antonio), un enorme y bonito espacio para todo tipo de actividades musicales, los lunes tienen As One, los miércoles Channel Zoo y los sábados el Zoo Project, van a celebrar las últimas fiestas de Ibiza que son de día, con un repertorio bastante interesante….

Como verás, hay más de lo que puedes abarcar, así que elige bien a dónde ir ya que las vacaciones son cortas, y en Ibiza aún más, porque hay tanta oferta que no puedes ir a todo, ¿o sí?? Hora de irse a la cama… Bueno y barato es la Casa Huéspedes en Ibiza, Vara de Rey, un lugar secreto es Pepitas en Salinas. Hablando de Salinas recomendamos un nuevo sitio, el Boutique Hostal Salinas, Düsi, Anita y Dave os ofrecen 11 habitaciones selectas, comida estupenda y un lounge superbonito – ¡nuestro consejo! Si quieres estar de fiesta incluso en el hotel, reserva en los Jet Hotels en Playa d’en Bossa o en Es Vivé en Figueretas, ahí te encontrarás con DJs, VIPs y alguna estrella de verdad. El Hotel Pacha es, como indica su nombre, otro sitio para estar de fiesta las 24 horas… Otro consejo es el Hotel Punic de camino a Sa Caleta, un sitio para los amigos… Para el agroturismo Atzaro o Can Curreu son un sueño. ARE YOU AN OPTIMIST OR A PESSIMIST? I am an optimist and a realist, I know what is most probably going to happen and it gives me reason for optimism, because we have quite a few chances coming. YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A FUTUROLOGIST, WHAT SHOULD OUR READERS UNDERSTAND BY THIS? He is a man who understands space-time, or it would be better to say he is a time-traveller, so he travels through dimensions of space and time and sees the past, present and future as one entity, being able to correct events in the past and the future. You can also call him a seer, a person who sees all dimensions. HAVE YOU BECOME WHAT YOU ARE THROUGH HERITAGE OR EXPERIENCE, OR BOTH? Both, I have been this for sure in another life, I knew Atlantis for example, of which, by the way, Ibiza is a part of. So, of course, part of it is heritage, a knowledge that is genetically encoded, and we all have that, and partly I became what I am in this life through experience, studying astrology and all sorts of arts and sciences that lead you to know how the movements of planets mirror and influence events of society and the structure of mankind on this planet. WOW... SO ANYBODY CAN BECOME A KIND OF FUTUROLOGIST? That is right, everybody is actually a time traveller, we all have the genetics built-in to know where we came from, what we are doing here and where we are going. We come from the stars, we visit this planet and after we go to another place. The cultures who lived here in Ibiza knew all that very well, that is precisely the point, that the island itself has probably most of the information genetically encoded and now the new children that come out of that remember this better because they start fresh, without the conditioning of old times. IN WHAT WAY DO WE HAVE ANY IMPACT ON WHAT WILL HAPPEN, IF WE TALK ABOUT THIS ACTUAL “CRISIS”, IS IT SELF-MADE OR WAS IT MEANT TO HAPPEN ANYWAY? Okay, this is a very complex question... by “crisis” do you mean what is happening right now in 2009 and what will happen in the next few years? YES. The actual situation was avoidable; it could have been easily avoided if we would have already structured a new kind of society a long time ago. It should have been avoided but now it is clearly too late, we are now in what I was explaining before, the approaching hurricane of time. Now it is a matter of adjusting to it and adapting to how we create a new beginning out of the complicated times we are in right now. I’M SURE YOU KNOW ABOUT THE SEVEN PROPHECIES OF THE MAYANS ON THE SHIFT OF CONSCIOUSNESS IN 2012? Yes I do, as I do about the Aztec prophecy that takes place in the middle of October of 2011. The Mayans say it is the 22nd of December of 2012, this all depends on how you calculate the periods. I wrote about all this partly in my book (The Light Seeds, one of his latest books), it is based on the science of the alignment of the stars and planets.

SO WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT THE END OF 2011 OR 2012? This is the big question and a difficult one to answer in a short statement because we still, at this point, have certain choices, not everything is carved in stone. We still have choices on how to adapt and there are still different possible futures coming as well as multiple options. It will not be the same for everybody on this planet, there is going to be different realities and different timelines that will co-exist simultaneously in the same space, so it is hard to say what will happen to anybody. But generally speaking what is transpiring are earth changes, climate changes, sea levels will rise, different elements of climate will change, the magnetic field will collapse and change the magnetosphere, the activity of the sun will change. All this together will create a completely new climate that over the next few years can become pretty violent, but it is very difficult to say what will happen where. At the same time, partly related to the climate but also separate and unrelated to it will be the change in societal structure, the economy will change completely and with it the whole system of how our society is built, technology will change and has to adapt to the new circumstances. As I said it is impossible to describe all this here and now, you can read it all in my book. In a short sentence I would say it will change our planet and all of us, how we will coexist and restructure life. What we have to do, knowing that all this will happen, is we have to become self-sufficient, we have to organize small communities who can exist peacefully and create micro-economies that do not depend on any kind of logistics or politics. THIS LEADS US TO OUR NEXT QUESTION: WHAT CAN EACH OF US DO TO PREPARE FOR THIS SHIFT? The most important thing that each one of us can do is to learn to trust our instincts because that is a gift that got lost over the last hundreds and thousands of years. We have to learn to go back to our own intuition and stop thinking in linear scientific ways. The next important thing is that we have to learn to be fearless, completely fearless, and with these two things each one of us will be able to adapt to anything that is coming. The rest is more technical, we should, if we can, change towards gold and move away from paper money because this is all going to collapse, gold and silver will be the mechanisms of exchange. As I said before, it will be small economies and communities; I call these ‘The Radiant Zones’ in my work. Ibiza for example could be a leading radiant zone in the world. We will create our own farming systems with the local farmers, each zone needs experts in different professions, healers, teachers, technology experts, scientists, little groups where each one is an expert in their field, and together we can then create self-sufficient communities and begin to network around the world. That leads to a kind of tribal lifestyle. YOU SAY IN YOUR BOOK THAT THE VERY FIRST THINGS TO BREAK DOWN WILL BE THE SCHOLAR SYSTEM AND GOVERNMENTS, SO THAT WOULD BE THE FIRST THINGS TO FOCUS ON? Yes, it will probably first have to be a sort of home-schooling and then, when those communities start to work, parents can bring their children together and divert to an almost shamanic lifestyle. Another question then is what will the children learn? It is more likely that the children will show the adults a new way of life and this will create an interactivity on both sides. > 3.1

AS YOU SAY WE HAVE TO GO BACK TO LEARN TO LISTEN TO OUR INTUITION, WE KNOW THAT CHILDREN ARE WAY MORE AWARE OF THEIR INTUITION AND LOSE IT LATER ON... Yes, that is exactly the point... TALKING ABOUT YOUR STAY IN IBIZA, DID YOU LIKE THE ISLAND? Oh yes, I love it! The island has a magnetic energy, it is almost timeless, in a way one can be here and step out of time and become a time-traveller. The island has everything it needs to live, all the food, its own supplies. It only needs to reinvent itself and become independent from mainland Spain and Europe, creating its own partner system with the rest of the world, its own navigation system and merchant navies and just ‘exist’ as a small community, which is totally possible. In fact it can strive and become very successful. THIS LEADS US TO OUR LAST QUESTION, THAT IT IS WRITTEN DOWN IN HISTORY THAT IBIZA WILL SURVIVE WHATEVER COMES, SO DO YOU BELIEVE IN THAT AS WELL? Yes definitely. I mean it is a volcanic island, and as I said it was part of Atlantis and the ancients were here probably before any culture, maybe even through extraterrestrial visits. This is very difficult to prove but there is definitely a very ancient culture still existing here and Ibiza can be a lot better than any part of the mainland, but things have to be organized in certain ways. SO THE ESSENCE OF IT IS WE HAVE TO LISTEN TO OUR INTUITION AND LOSE ALL OUR FEAR AND WE WILL BE SAFE HERE? Exactly, be conscious and aware and you will be safe here and anywhere. ¿ERES OPTIMISTA O PESIMISTA? Soy optimista y realista, sé lo que muy probablemente está pasando y me da razones para sentir optimismo porque hay muchas oportunidades nuevas. TE CONSIDERAS FUTURÓLOGO, ¿QUÉ SIGNIFICA ESO? Es alguien que entiende la relación tiempo-espacio o, mejor aún mejor, es un viajero del tiempo. Viaja a través de dimensiones de espacio y tiempo y ve el pasado, el presente y el futuro como una sola entidad, pudiendo corregir lo acaecido en el pasado y los hechos futuros. También puede decirse que es un visionario, una persona que ve todas las dimensiones.. ¿ES ALGO QUE HAS HEREDADO, LO HAS APRENDIDO, O AMBAS COSAS? Las dos cosas. Sin duda ya lo fui en otra vida. Por ejemplo, conocí la Atlántida (de la que Ibiza forma parte). Así que, en parte es herencia, por supuesto, un conocimiento encodado en los genes, algo que tenemos todos. Otra parte es experiencia, a través del estudio de la astrología y de todo tipo de artes y ciencias que llevan a conocer cómo el movimiento de los planetas refleja e influye lo que ocurre en la comunidad y la estructura de la humanidad en este planeta. VAYA.. ASÍ QUE ¿CUALQUIERA PUEDE SER ALGO PARECIDO A UN FUTURÓLOGO? Exacto. En realidad todos somos viajeros del tiempo, todos tenemos esas características genéticas para saber de dónde venimos, qué hacemos aquí y a dónde vamos. Venimos de las estrellas, estamos de visita en este planeta y después vamos a otro lugar. Las culturas que vivieron en Ibiza lo sabían muy bien. Esa es realmente la clave; esta isla en sí misma tiene probablemente genéticamente encodada la mayor parte de la información y los niños que nacen actualmente lo recuerdan mejor ya que empiezan sin rémoras, sin el condicionamiento de los viejos tiempos. ¿EN QUÉ SENTIDO TENEMOS UN EFECTO SOBRE LO QUE VA A PASAR? HABLANDO DE LA ‘CRISIS’ ACTUAL, ¿LA ENGENDRAMOS NOSOTROS O IBA A OCURRIR EN CUALQUIER CASO? Bueno, esa es una pregunta muy compleja... por ‘crisis’ ¿te refieres a lo que está pasando ahora en 2009 y lo que va a pasar en de los próximos años? SÍ. La situación actual era evitable. Podría haberse evitado fácilmente si hubiéramos estructurado un nuevo tipo de sociedad hace tiempo. Debería haberse evitado pero, evidentemente, ahora es demasiado tarde. Ahora nos hallamos en lo que te he explicado antes: el huracán del tiempo que se avecina. Ahora hay que amoldarse y pensar en cómo podemos crear un nuevo comienzo partiendo de esta época complicada que estamos viviendo.

¿SEGURAMENTE CONOCES LAS SIETE PROFECÍAS DE LOS MAYAS SOBRE LA TRANSFORMACIÓN INTERIOR DE LA HUMANIDAD QUE CULMINA EN 2012? Sí, las conozco y también la profecía azteca sobre mediados de octubre del 2011. Los mayas dicen que la fecha es el 22 de diciembre del 2012, depende de cómo se calculen los períodos. He escrito en parte sobre ello en mi libro (“The Light Seeds“, uno de sus últimos libros). Se basa en la ciencia de la alineación de las estrellas y los planetas. ¿QUÉ VA A PASAR ENTONCES EN 2011 O 2012? Esta es la gran pregunta y es difícil contestarla con una declaración breve ya que todavía disponemos de ciertas opciones. No todo está grabado en piedra. Todavía podemos decidir cómo nos adaptamos y aún hay diferentes futuros posibles y hay opciones múltiples. No será lo mismo para todo el mundo, habrá realidades y ciclos que coexistirán simultáneamente en el tiempo y el espacio, así que es difícil saber lo que le ocurrirá a cada uno. Pero, en general, lo que se observa son los cambios de la Tierra, el cambio climático, la subida del nivel del mar; cambiarán diversos elementos climáticos, se colapsará el campo magnético y modificará la magnetosfera, cambiará la actividad solar. El conjunto de todo ello dará lugar a un clima totalmente distinto que a lo largo de los próximos años podrá transformarse en algo bastante violento, aunque es difícil saber qué pasará y dónde. Al mismo tiempo, y en parte relacionado al clima pero también por separado e independientemente de éste, se producirá un cambio de las estructuras sociales. La economía cambiará por completo y con ella todo el sistema en que se fundamenta. Cambiará la tecnología y tendrá que adaptarse a las nuevas circunstancias. Como ya he dicho, es imposible describir todo esto aquí y ahora, puedes leerlo todo en mi libro. En resumen diría que cambiará al planeta y a todos nosotros, la forma en que coexistiremos y reestructuramos la vida. Lo que debemos hacer, sabiendo que esto ocurrirá, es ser autosuficientes. Debemos organizarnos en pequeñas comunidades que puedan coexistir en paz y crear microeconomías que no dependan de ningún tipo de logística o políticas. ESTO NOS LLEVA A LA PRÓXIMA PREGUNTA: ¿QUÉ PODEMOS HACER CADA UNO DE NOSOTROS PARA PREPARARNOS A ESE CAMBIO? Lo más importante que cada uno de nosotros puede hacer es aprender a confiar en nuestra intuición, porque es un don que se ha perdido a lo largo de los tiempos. Tenemos que aprender a volver a nuestra propia intuición en vez de pensar de forma científica linear. Debemos, además, aprender a no tener miedo, a ser intrépidos, y con estas dos cosas podremos adaptarnos a cualquier eventualidad. El resto es más bien técnico. Deberíamos, a ser posible, optar por el oro y no por el papel moneda, porque todo este sistema se vendrá abajo. El oro y la plata serán las monedas de cambio. Como ya he dicho, habrá pequeñas comunidades y pequeñas economías. En mis trabajos las llamo ‘The Radiant Zones’ (‘Las Zonas Radiantes’). Ibiza, por ejemplo, podría ser una zona de las principales zonas radiantes del mundo. Crearemos nuestros propios sistemas agrícolas, con los agricultores locales. Cada zona necesita expertos en distintas profesiones: curanderos, maestros, expertos en tecnología, científicos, pequeños grupos en los que cada uno sea experto en su ámbito, y juntos podremos crear comunidades autosuficientes y empezar a trabajar en red en todo el mundo. Esto conduce a un tipo de vida tribal. 22

EN TU LIBRO ESCRIBES QUE LO PRIMERO QUE SE DESMORONARÁ SERÁ EL SISTEMA EDUCATIVO Y LOS GOBIERNOS. ¿DEBEMOS PUES FIJAR LA ATENCIÓN EN ELLOS? MSC: Sí, al principio tendrá que existir un tipo de escuela doméstica y luego, cuando las comunidades empiecen a funcionar, los padres podrán juntar a sus hijos y orientarse hacia un estilo de vida casi chamánico. Otra cuestión es: ¿qué se les va a enseñar a los niños? Es más probable que los niños enseñen a los padres una nueva forma de vivir y eso creará una interactividad. COMO HAS DICHO, TENEMOS QUE VOLVER A APRENDER A HACER CASO DE NUESTRA INTUICIÓN; SABEMOS QUE LOS NIÑOS SON MUCHO MÁS CONSCIENTES DE ELLA Y DESPUÉS LA PIERDEN... Sí, esa es precisamente la cuestión… HABLANDO DE TU ESTANCIA EN IBIZA, ¿TE HA GUSTADO LA ISLA? Claro qué sí, ¡me encanta! La isla tiene una energía magnética, es casi atemporal, es como si aquí uno pudiera salir del tiempo y convertirse en un viajero por el tiempo. La isla tiene todo lo que necesita para sobrevivir, todos los alimentos y su propia reserva. Sólo se tiene que reinventar y hacerse independiente de la península y de Europa, creando su propia red asociativa con el resto del mundo, su propio sistema de navegación y flota mercante y así puede simplemente ‘existir’ como una pequeña comunidad, lo que es absolutamente factible. Incluso puede prosperar y tener muchísimo éxito. LO CUAL NOS LLEVA A NUESTRA ÚLTIMA PREGUNTA. EN LA HISTORIA ESTÁ ESCRITO QUE IBIZA SOBREVIVIRÁ A TODO, ¿TAMBIÉN CREES EN ESO? Sí, sin duda alguna. Es una isla volcánica y, como he dicho, formaba parte de la Atlántida y probablemente el mundo antiguo existió aquí antes que ninguna otra civilización, tal vez incluso por haber sido visitada por extraterrestres. Es muy difícil probarlo pero definitivamente hay una cultura muy antigua que todavía existe aquí, e Ibiza puede ser mucho mejor que cualquier lugar de la península, pero hay que organizar las cosas de cierta manera. ASÍ QUE, ESENCIALMENTE, LO QUE TENEMOS QUE HACER ES ESCUCHAR A NUESTRA INTUICIÓN Y PERDER TODOS LOS MIEDOS Y ESTAREMOS A SALVO AQUÍ. Exactamente, sé consciente y atento y estarás a salvo aquí y en cualquier sitio. ¡HA SIDO UN GRAN PLACER HABLAR CONTIGO! HELLO JEROM, AT LAST WE’VE GOT HOLD OF YOU, WE’VE BEEN A FAN OF YOUR GRAFFITI FOR A LONG TIME AND HAVE ALREADY PUBLISHED SEVERAL OF YOUR WORKS :-) SO, TELL US, WHO IS JEROM? Hello! Jerom is a thirty-year old Ibicenco, graffiti artist, who has been painting the walls of the island for over fifteen years. I IMAGINE THAT THE LIFE OF A GRAFFITI ARTIST IS NOT ALWAYS EASY, RIGHT? HAVE YOU EVER BEEN CHASED? Part of what graffiti is is how difficult it is sometimes to place your artwork in a certain part of the city. Sometimes you need that, it’s like a fix. Yes, I have been chased quite a few times, there are many stories to tell over the years. DO YOU KNOW ROUGHLY HOW MANY GRAFFITIS YOU HAVE DONE UP TO DATE IN IBIZA? ARE THEY ALL STILL IN PLACE? The truth is that I don’t know, I don’t keep photographs of them all and many have disappeared for different reasons. WHICH HAS BEEN THE MOST DIFFICULT UP TO DATE? I’ve done graffiti which has taken weeks to finish, I’ve climbed scaffolds, scaled walls... I’ve painted people, animals, imaginary beings, words.... on walls, canvas, wood, metal and glass....I couldn’t tell you what has been the most difficult...it all ends up being a challenge. * Recently, five other artists and I, painted the largest graffiti in Spain, in the Corte Ingles on the Paseo de La Castellana in Madrid. You can see the work in myspace.com/jeromibiza. ALTHOUGH, IN THEORY, GRAFFITI IS ILLEGAL WITHOUT PERMISSION, YOUR GRAFFITI IS EVERYWHERE, TELL US HOW COME? Nearly all my recent work has had permission to be painted. I try to find the owner of the wall and suggest the idea to them. HOW DID YOU BECOME A GRAFFITI ARTIST? WHAT LEAD YOU TO THIS GREAT ART FORM AND WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT IN FRONT OF A WALL? Even though I started to spray paint when I was a child, it wasn’t until I met my great friend Hosh, that I started to take Graffiti seriously. He made me join a group of graffiti artists, the first in Ibiza. We were Hosh, Job, Kiko, and I, also known as TBP (The Black Panthers). We painted together for many years. After a while we went our separate ways, with our studies and projects etc., some even left the island. I didn’t paint for about four or five years but I took up graffiti again last year, with new enthusiasm and fresh ideas. I’ve worked on several projects with two other artists, Shine and Necko, who are also from the island, and also with Hosh, when he’s here. (He now lives in Barcelona, where he is a well-known graffiti artist). I am currently preparing my first solo exhibition. It will all be spray painted free-hand on canvas and I’m hoping to show the work at the beginning of next year. I currently co-own with two other partners an estate agency. In my free time I study graphic design software and do exercise. > 3.1

¡CÓMO LLEGASTE A SER GRAFFITERO? ¿CUÁL HA SIDO TU CAMINO HACIA ESTE GRAN ARTE Y QUÉ HACES CUANDO NO ESTAS DELANTE DE UNA PARED? Aunque ya de pequeño empecé a darle al spray, no fue hasta que conocí a un gran amigo, Hosh, cuando empecé a tomar en serio lo del graffiti. Tendría catorce años. Él me hizo formar parte de uno de los primeros grupos de escritores que ha habido en Ibiza. Éramos Hosh, Job, Kiko y yo, los TBP (The Black Panthers). Pintamos juntos muchos años. Después cada uno tuvo que seguir sus estudios, proyectos, etc., algunos fuera de la isla.

IS GRAFFITI ALWAYS CONNECTED TO HIPHOP AND RAP? WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE STYLE OF MUSIC? That’s exactly what I most listen to. However, I like nearly all styles of music. More than the style, I mind whether it’s good music and everyone has their own standards in deciding what that is. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE IN IBIZA, DAYTIME AND NIGHTIME? SO THAT WHOEVER WANTS TO MEET YOU WILL FIND YOU :-) My favourite place during the day is any of the beaches. Ibiza is a paradise. SUPONGO QUE LA VIDA DEL GRAFFITERO NO SIEMPRE ES FÁCIL ¿NO? ¿TE HAN PERSEGUIDO ALGUNA VEZ? Esa dificultad que a veces tiene colocar una pieza tuya en según qué lugar de una ciudad forma parte del graffiti. A veces lo necesitas, te lo pide el cuerpo. Sí, me han perseguido alguna vez; hay mil historias en todos estos años. ¿SABES MÁS O MENOS CUÁNTOS GRAFFITIS HAS HECHO HASTA HOY EN IBIZA? ¿SIGUEN TODOS EN SU SITIO? La verdad es que no lo sé, no conservo fotos de todos ellos y muchos han desaparecido por diferentes motivos. ¿CUÁL HA SIDO EL MÁS COMPLICADO QUE HAS HECHO HASTA HOY? He hecho trabajos que han durado semanas, he subido por andamios, he trepado muros... he pintado imágenes de personas, de animales, personajes imaginarios, letras… en pared, tela, madera, metal, cristal… no sabría decir qué ha sido lo más complicado… Todo acaba siendo un reto. * Recientemente, con 5 escritores más, hemos hecho el graffiti más grande de España en el Corte Inglés del Paseo de La Castellana (Madrid). Yo he estado cuatro o cinco años sin pintar. El año pasado lo retomé con muchas ganas y con conceptos renovados. He hecho desde entonces varias piezas con otros dos graffiteros de la isla, Shine y Necko, y también con Hosh, cuando ha estado por Ibiza (ahora vive en Barcelona y es un escritor de renombre). En este momento estoy preparando mi primera exposición en solitario. Será toda de spray a mano alzada sobre lienzo y se podrá ver posiblemente a principios del año que viene.

SIEMPRE SE CONECTA EL GRAFFITI CON EL HIP HOP/RAP, ¿CUÁL ES TU ESTILO DE MUSICA PREFERIDO? Justamente es lo que más escucho. Pero me gustan casi todos los géneros de música. Más que el estilo musical, me importa que sea buena, cada uno tiene su propio criterio para decidir esto último. ¿TU LUGAR FAVORITO EN IBIZA DE DÍA Y DE NOCHE? PARA QUE LA GENTE QUE TE QUIERE CONOCER TE ENCUENTRE :-) Las playas son mis lugares preferidos de día, cualquiera de ellas. Ibiza es un paraíso. De noche no sé decirte, no hay preferencias, voy donde surja la ocasión. Un saludo!

PIPPI, WHERE ARE YOU FROM? I was born in Argentina in the Province of Santa Fe. I was born at home. My mother, who is a writer and art teacher, wanted me to be born listening to Mendelssohn’s, song of the Cradle. This is why since birth I have an auditory affinity with classical music. I listened to classical music during my early childhood, and I think this has fed my imagination ever since. My favourite fantasy was that I was an alien, who lived in an earthly paradise on another planet, so I am very grateful to my mother who let me live in my fantasy world. Age three I began to practise classical ballet and I felt like a princess. My mother wished I could always feel like a princess and that’s how I feel today. We had a large collection of books and I like to read. I love Leonardo da Vinci, he invented the flying man, which fascinated me, I always wanted to fly and when I danced it felt like I was flying. Later on in the seventies, there were political problems, my father was in the army and the situation was bad, so my parents sent me to Europe. My mother’s family were French and that’s why I went to France to study painting at the Sorbonne. I still paint with a spatula. I also studied physics and discovered Albert Einstein’s work. All my girlfriends were in love with actors and I was in love with this old man who stuck his tongue out. I thought the Rolling Stones had copied him because their logo with a tongue sticking out was Albert Einstein’s tongue. I believed the Stones were geniuses, scientists of sound! And I also saw Elvis Presley as Einstein because he was the pioneer of electricity and Elvis was one of the first to use an electric guitar and I thought that Einstein’s spirit had entered Elvis.... ultimately, Einstein is the energy god. After this madness, I attended some Reiki courses and became interested in spirituality. I obtained a visa to travel to Tibet but I had problems getting in via communist China, eventually I met a master who spoke English, luckily, I was accepted and entered the country. On arrival, I realized I was nothing, I have always caught colds easily and it was absolutely freezing and I had stomach upsets and other minor health problems. Soon, I understood how they thought and that they don’t believe in one God like we do but that God is in each of us, that we are all God and I became strong and purified. I realized that in our society we are slaves to materialism and that has nothing to do with God. Here we follow the law of attraction, we follow materialism and you are what you have and not who you are. The universe asks you “What do you want?” and when you answer “Money” you get further away from your spirit. They taught me that first you must know yourself, then you can enjoy your life. If you understand this nothing will touch you and even when you suffer you will feel calm and relaxed. I am not materialistic, I don’t even own a car to live the life of a princess. HOW DID YOU END UP IN IBIZA? When I left Tibet, they told me to be careful now that I was so clean, I could easily fall sick from all the mental illness in the 40

world. I understood the logic of this. Imagine being locked away in another world, thinking you are a deity, never thinking anything bad about yourself or others. Living in the “today I am good, tomorrow I’m really good and if I don’t improve, I’m only human and I love myself all the same”. Everyone should experience this. In the future, I want to open a school of “how to love yourself” and “how to be happy without money”. I feel sorry for people who chase money, they lose themselves, they become slaves to the system. When the change comes, they will realise how poor they are chasing something that doesn’t exist. Before I was a classic hippie, but now I am quite rational, I don’t need much money and my bodyguards are angels. I realised that Ibiza was a safe haven, removed from time and I came to live here. It’s another world and Ibiza will protect you even if you don’t need it. I am still in touch with my master Ed in Tibet. He told me to get ready for my coronation as a princess in Ibiza in 2000. So, I prepared from 1990 until 2000. I followed my calling and many people thought I was mad for not following a more conventional path. When 2000 arrived, I was told that my spiritual coronation would be the last time the drums were played and after that the police would stop them. In the ceremony I had to walk through an ancient dolmen or doorway, to symbolise passing from one state to another. People from all over the world attended the ceremony, there were more than five hundred people and the drums played like never before. After the party, as predicted, they stopped the drumming, even though a few still meet on Sunday, it’s not like before, it was the last official celebration at Benirras. I am a channel of the goddess Tanit, I am here to do her work and represent her. I’m like a tortoise, I move slowly because the island is also a tortoise and things develop over a long time. If you hurry you get nowhere but if you move like a tortoise you’ll get there in the end. Be relaxed and you stay young and don’t make mistakes. This is why you shouldn’t chase after money, the island isn’t Marbella, it’s not for this, it’s a spiritual place. You can really feel this, especially in the winter, when the people who live here year-round, struggle to earn a living and then the madness of the summer comes and the island turns into a circus. WHAT IS IT YOU MOST LOVE ABOUT IBIZA? What I love most of all about the island is that Ibiza drugs and captivates you, when you live here and you leave you miss it, you can’t stay away long and you want to get back as soon as possible. Ibiza is full of vibrations, with beautiful natural surroundings, fertile, volcanic earth filled with magic, it’s paradise. You forget about money, you relax and forget everything, you lose time here, it’s the perfect retreat. I’ve been to Sardinia, they also worshipped the goddess Tanit and it’s lovely but Ibiza is magical. It’s similar, but there is nowhere in the world like Ibiza. The power of the island isn’t the wealth, which many think, but its magic.

DUB : SPEAKING OF LOVE, THE CLOSEST THING TO LOVE IS HATE, WHAT DO MOST HATE ABOUT IBIZA? There is nothing bad about Ibiza, the island is generous and beautiful, embracing the good and the bad. It’s the people that make it bad, we should protect the island from the unscrupulous, who come here in the summer and treat Ibiza like a whore, use her to make money and leave her dirty. I’m not just talking about tourists, also the construction industry and motorways do a lot of harm... so I think we should protect Ibiza a lot more. IF YOU COULD SUDDENLY CHANGE ONE THING, WHAT WOULD IT BE? This island lives from music, sounds and frequencies. When the summer comes the protagonists who spread the music are the Dj’s, some are lucky and they can play anywhere but others who are just as good during the year can’t be heard in the summer. People ask me, “where are the island Dj’s?” and they’re right, so many come from abroad and charge a fortune because they’re famous around the world. In my opinion this is ignorant, a cheap insult towards the resident Dj’s. It’s not only the Dj’s, also the residents, the people who live here in winter are worthless in the summer, they have to queue at the clubs, etc. In the winter, I go to a club and I have a bottle of cava when I want but in the

summer no way, I don’t understand. Everyone becomes a moneymaking robot. This is what destroys Ibiza, we need to change, if not it’s going to be difficult to live here. This island would be more elegant if there wasn’t such a hamburger and chips trade. Smaller businesses like restaurants would benefit and more elegant people would come and they would bring money. The type that like to mix with the locals, feel as though they are with the best of the island. If things don’t change Ibiza will self-destruct. A QUESTION THAT EVERYONE WILL BE INTERESTED IN, YOU ALWAYS CARRY A BEAR...? When I was leaving Tibet to come to Ibiza I felt very asexual. My 1st, 2nd and 3rd chakras were closed and I was very cerebral, not sexual. I wanted to be a goddess, from the constellation of the Great Bear and for this I needed a great bear male god, by my side. I consider it to be a channel, a connection, and when I’m dancing I’m with God. What better animal to protect me than a bear? With time I had a hospital full of bears, they were made of straw, and the first was a Panda bear, which is why I was nick-named Miss Panda. Today I carry the original brown bear, the strongest. It keeps me young, the bear has the vibration of youth. > 3.1

In Tibet, I was shown the vibration of eternal health, did you know we could all have eternal life? I always surround myself with young people, that’s why I’m never sick, not even a cold. ¿DE DÓNDE ERES? PIPPI, ¿DE DÓNDE ERES? Nací en Argentina en una provincia que se llama Santa Fe. Nací en casa y mi madre, que es escritora y profesora de arte, quería que naciese escuchando la Canción de Cuna de Mendelssohn. Por eso mi oído desde mi nacimiento esta unido al sonido clásico. Durante toda mi infancia siempre he oído música clásica, y creo que eso me ha dado ya desde niña mucha imaginación. Mi fantasía favorita era que yo era una extraterrestre y vivía en un paraíso terrenal en otro mundo, Así, desde pequeña estoy muy agradecida a mi madre que me dejó crecer en mi mundo de ilusión y fantasía. A los tres años empecé a practicar ballet clásico y me sentí como una princesa. Mi madre me dijo entonces que deseaba que yo siempre fuera una princesa azul y así me siento hasta hoy. Teníamos una biblioteca muy amplia y me gustaba mucho leer. Me encantó Leonardo da Vinci que creó el hombre volador y eso me fascinó: yo siempre quería volar y en mi baile me sentí como volando. Luego, en los años setenta, surgieron muchos problemas. Mi padre era militar y las cosas iban mal, así que mis padres me mandaron a Europa. Mi madre es de origen francés por eso me fui a Francia, a la Sorbona para estudiar pintura. Hasta hoy pinto con espátula. También hice unos cursos de física y me encontré con el trabajo de Albert Einstein. Todas mis amigas estaban enamoradas de actores y yo me enamoré de ese viejito que sacaba la lengua. Y pensé que los Rolling Stones le habían copiado porque la lengua que sacaban en su logo era para mí la lengua de Albert Einstein. Así pensé que los Stones son genios, ¡científicos del sonido! Y después a Elvis Presley también lo admiré, porque, igual que Einstein era un pionero de la electricidad, Elvis fue uno de los primeros en usar una guitarra eléctrica. Pensé que el espíritu de Einstein pasó a Elvis... Bueno, en fin, para mi Einstein es el dios de la energía. Después de esas locuras empecé con unos cursos de Reiki y me he metido mucho en el campo de la espiritualidad. Saqué una visa para ir a Tíbet pero tuve problemas para entrar a través de la China comunista, pero al final encontré un maestro que hablaba ingles y tuve la suerte de ser aceptada y pude entrar. Al llegar a Tíbet pensé que no soy nada, siempre me he resfriado muy fácil y allí hizo un frío impresionante y me atrapé cólicos y otras cosas. Pero de repente me di cuenta de lo que son ellos y que no creen en un Dios como todos nosotros sino que Dios está en cada uno, que todos somos Dioses, y me empecé a reforzar y a purificar. Me di cuenta de que aquí somos esclavos del materialismo y eso no tiene nada que ver con Dios. Aquí 42

seguimos la ley de la atracción que es seguir el materialismo y uno es lo que tiene y no lo que es. El universo te pregunta ‘¿qué quieres?’ y si respondes ‘dinero’ pues te alejas de tu propio espíritu. Ellos me enseñaron que primero tienes que saber quien eres tú para poder disfrutar de tu vida. Y sabiendo eso no te puede pasar nada si viene un sufrimiento y tú estas tranquilo y relajado. Y hasta hoy no me meto en el materialismo, no necesito ni coche para vivir la vida de una princesa. Y ¿CÓMO ACABASTE EN IBIZA? Cuando salí de Tíbet me dijeron que tengo que tener mucho cuidado porque ahora estoy muy limpia y me puedo enfermar de la suciedad mental que hay en el resto del mundo. Y tenía su lógica porque, imagínate estando allí encerrado en un mundo aparte pensando que eres un dios y no piensas mal 24 horas ni de tí mismo, y no criticas a nada, viviendo el ‘hoy soy bueno, mañana soy rebueno y si no mejoro soy un ser humano y me quiero igual. Todo el mundo debería hacer esto. En el futuro voy a abrir una escuela de ‘cómo quererse a sí mismo’ y ‘cómo ser feliz sin dinero’. A mi la gente que sigue el dinero me da lástima porque se pierden a sí mismos, se hacen esclavos del sistema. Pero cuando venga el cambio se van a dar cuenta de lo pobres que son siguiendo algo que realmente no existe. Yo antes era la clásica “hippy” pero ahora soy bastante racional, no necesito mucho dinero y mis guardaespaldas son los ángeles. Entonces me dí cuenta de que Ibiza es como un refugio fuera del tiempo y me vine aquí. Ibiza es una isla que te protege sin que necesites otra protección; es un mundo aparte. Hasta hoy me conecto con mi maestro Ed de Tíbet, y él me dijo que en el año 2000 sería coronada en Ibiza como princesa y que me tenía que preparar, así que me he preparado para eso desde el año 1990 hasta 2000. Así seguí mi camino y la gente empezó a pensar que estoy loca, que no sigo un camino común sino mi propio camino. Y cuando llegó el año 2000 me dijeron que en mi coronación espiritual sería la última vez que los tambores tendrían derecho a tocar, después la policía no les dejaría tocar más. En esa ceremonia me habían preparado una puerta como un dólmen y yo tenia que entrar en esa puerta para pasar de un estado al otro. A ese evento vino gente de todo el mundo, hubo más de 500 personas y los tambores sonaban como nunca. Y, como habían previsto, después de esa fiesta no les dejaron tocar más. Los domingos se reúne todavía alguna gente pero no es lo mismo, esa ha sido la última celebración oficial en Benirrás. Yo me siento un canal de la diosa Tanit, estoy aquí para hacer su trabajo y por eso la represento. Soy como una tortuga, avanzo muy despacio porque la isla también es tortuga, las cosas aquí se desarrollan muy lento, si vas con prisa aquí no consigues nada, pero si vas como una tortuga llegas hasta el final. Tienes que ir relajado, así te conservas mejor y no cometes errores. Y por eso no hay que seguir el camino del dinero, esta isla no es para eso, no es Marbella, es Ibiza, y es una isla muy espiritual. Esto se ve sobre todo en invierno, que la gente que está aquí todo el año lucha mucho para poder sobrevivir porque es duro ganarse la vida aquí durante estos meses, y cuando llega la locura de verano esta isla se convierte en un circo. ¿QUÉ ES LO QUE MAS AMAS DE IBIZA? Lo que más amo de esta isla es que Ibiza te droga, te atrapa, si vives aquí y te vas de viaje la echas de menos, no puedes estar mucho tiempo fuera y quieres volver lo antes posible. Ibiza es tan rica en vibraciones, tiene tanta naturaleza tan bonita, esa

tierra volcánica y fértil, es paradisíaca, mágica. Te hace olvidar el dinero, te relajas y te olvidas de todo, es como un lugar fuera del tiempo, un refugio perfecto. He estado en Cerdeña, donde también se adora a la diosa Tanit, es muy bonita pero no tiene la magia que tiene Ibiza. Es muy parecida pero no es Ibiza, no hay otro lugar igual en el mundo. El poder de esta isla no es el dinero, como piensan muchos, es la magia. HABLANDO DE AMOR, LO MÁS CERCA DEL AMOR ES EL ODIO, ¿QUÉ ES LO QUE ODIAS DE IBIZA? Ibiza no tiene nada de malo, es la generosidad, la belleza, ella acepta todo, lo bueno o lo malo. Son las personas las que lo hacen mal, habría que protegerla mas de la gente sin escrúpulos que viene de afuera en verano, y la tratan como una ramera, hacen su dinero y se van, y encima la dejan sucia. Y no hablo sólo de turistas, también hay gente aquí que la hacen mucho daño con sus construcciones, autopistas etc. etc., así que yo digo que habrá que protegerla mucho más. SI TUVIESES EL PODER DE CAMBIAR UNA COSA DE MANERA INMEDIATA, ¿CUÁL SERÍA? Esta isla vive de la música, de sonidos y frecuencias, y cuando llega el verano algunos de los protagonistas de difundir la música que son los Djs tiene suerte y les dejan pinchar en algún sitio pero otros que son igual de buenos, en verano ya no se les escucha más. Hay gente que me pregunta ‘y los Djs de la isla, ¿dónde están?’ Y llevan razón. Vienen muchos de fuera y cobran mucho más porque ya son conocidos a nivel mundial. Esto es una ignorantada, una paletada horterada hacia los Djs residentes de aquí, en mi opinión. Y no sólo los Djs, también la gente de aquí en invierno ya en verano no valen nada, hay que hacer cola en los clubs etc. etc. En invierno hay un club donde tengo mi botella de cava cuando la quiero pero en verano nada, y eso es lo que no entiendo. La gente en verano se convierte en una especie de robots y sólo piensa en el dinero. Esto es lo que destruye a Ibiza. Hay que volver a pensar en otras cosas, si no va a ser muy difícil vivir aquí. Esta isla tiene que dejar de ser tan comerciante de patatita y de hamburguesa y entonces seria más elegante. Y los pequeños negocios como restaurantes trabajarían mejor porque así viene gente elegante con más clase y dinero. De los que les gusta mezclarse con la gente de aquí, sentirse parte de lo bueno de esta isla. Si no pasa eso, Ibiza se autodestruirá. UNA PREGUNTA QUE INTERESARA A TODOS, ¿SIEMPRE LLEVAS UN OSO...? Cuando estaba a punto de salir de Tíbet hacia Ibiza me he sentido muy asexual, mis chacras 1, 2 y 3 estaban cerradas y me concentré mucho en la mente, no en la sexualidad. Quería ser una Diosa que quiere decir la Osa mayor, y necesitaba un Dios a mi lado, el Oso mayor. Es para mí como un canal, una conexión, y cuando estoy bailando estoy con Dios. Y qué animal mejor para protegerte que un Oso, ¿no? Con el tiempo ya llevo un hospital de Osos en casa – los primeros eran de paja, y el primero era un panda, hasta que me llamaron Miss Panda. El de hoy es el verdadero Oso marrón, el más fuerte. Y me mantiene joven. Cuando estoy con él estoy en la vibración de la juventud. En Tíbet me mostraron como se puede llegar a la vibración de la salud eterna. Podríamos tener todos una vida eterna, ¿sabes?

Y siempre me rodeo de gente mas joven que yo, por eso casi no sé lo que es la palabra ‘enfermedad’. Ni la pronuncio, por eso casi nunca me enfermo, ni un resfriado ni nada. ESTO ES LO QUE TE DESEAMOS PIPPI, QUE TE QUEDEN MUCHÍSIMOS AÑOS MÁS Y QUE PODAMOS SEGUIR DISFRUTANDO DE TU ESPÍRITU Y TU PERSONALIDAD. This year’s International Music Summit, already celebrating its second year, had a number of very interesting panels and invited guests, for me one of the highlights was the discussion of whether a label or artist should go digital or not, and the name was program: ‘digital – do or die’. Another big topic in this panel was the question where the war about clients on the downloadmarket will end, with more and more free portals or those who offer unlimited access via subscription and not via payment per track. Another very hot panel was the one about this island’s politic of relationship between the government and the clubs and the price politic in the clubs. According to some clubowners the first issue today is more about whether the clubs are molesting the public in terms of noise, drug abuse and closing hours than they were in the early days when it was more than welcome that those clubs brought an important number of tourists and locals to the city. All those panels and finally the whole Music Summit have one very positive effect in common – they bring all sides together, showing our government what we - this Island’s music scene have tried to tell Ibiza for so many years, and how important this unique place is in the world of electronic music. So it was only more than logical that our actual government finally recognized in a public act that they understood the sign of the time and gave birth to a very ambitious project called ‘Ibiza Music Island’. In a period of four years Ibiza will ‘step-by-step’

introduce various tools to make a vision come true that has no antecessors in history, not even in Berlin or Barcelona or Miami. The ‘IMI’ includes nine different projects of which the Music Summit is one. The others are the creation of a ‘Ibiza Music Trademark’ called ‘100% Ibiza’ to give proof to all projects made in Ibiza such as music productions, parties etc., a ‘Ibiza Music School’ that is already executed and until now solely financed by Cultura Sonica, a ‘Ibiza Music Technological Center’ to support new technologies and tendencies in production, postproduction, showcasing and developing new technologies of how to produce and sell electronic music, the realization of a yearly ‘Ibiza Music Festival’ in collaboration with all clubs and finally the creation of a digital portal ‘Ibiza Music Download’ to prove to the rest of the world the enormous output of music entirely produced here in Ibiza. All this sounds almost too good to be true, but as it was all anounced big time in the Summit they won’t have another choice than to seriously work on all this. And some facts speak for themselves: In Ibiza we have more than 235 companies being involved in music, facturing more than 175 M€/year with more than 2.500 people being involved – that is almost 8% of all workers! We from dub feel part of all this as we mirror and promote Ibiza since already nine years in eleven different countries, and we will give full support for whatever is needed to make this dream come true. >

IBIZA MUSIC ISLAND El segundo International Music Summit de este año tuve una cantidad de foros interesantes e invitados. Para mí, una de las atracciones más importantes fue la discusión sobre si un sello o un artista deberían digitalizar sus productos o no. El nombre lo decía todo: ‘digital – do or die’ (digital – hazlo o muere). Otro gran tema en ese foro fue la guerra entre los portales que se disputan los clientes en el cada vez más grande mercado de las descargas gratis o los portales que ofrecen acceso ilimitado por suscripción en vez de remuneración por canción. Otra discusión acalorada fue aquella sobre la política de Ibiza en cuanto a la relación entre el gobierno y las discotécas y la política de precios. Según algunos dueños de discotécas la discusión hoydía solamente se gira en torno a las molestias que las discotécas supuestamente causan al público – ruido, abuso de drogas, y horarios de cierre. Antiguamente todos aceptaron de buena gana los turistas y nativos que las discotécas traían en grandes cantidades a la ciudad. Todos esos foros y el Music Summit en general tienen un factor muy importante en común – juntan a los diferentes partidos y confirman al gobierno lo que nosotros – la escena musical de la isla – hemos dicho hace anyos. Además muestran la importancia de este sitio único en el mundo de la música electrónica. Pues fue más que lógico que nuestro gobierno por fin reconociera en un acto público que entendían los signos del tiempo y que fundaran el ambicioso proyecto llamado ‘Ibiza Music Island’. En un plazo de cuatro años Ibiza introducirá paso a paso varias partes de un programa visionario que no tiene precedencia en la historia, ni siquiera en Berlín, Barcelona o Miami. El ‘IMI’ incluye nueve proyectos diferentes de los que el Music Summit es uno. Los otros son la creación del ‘Ibiza Music Trademark’ para todos los proyectos hechos en Ibiza como producciones de música, fiestas, etc.; una escuela de música de Ibiza que ya existe y hasta ahora ha sido financiado enteramente por Cultura Sónica; el ‘Ibiza Music Technological Center’ para fomentar nuevas tecnologías y tendencias en producción, postproducción y presentación y para desarrollar nuevas tecnologías en la producción y venta de música electrónica; la organización de un festival anual en colaboración con todas las discotécas y finalmente la creación de un portal digital de descargas para demostrar al resto del mundo la enorme cantidad de música producido enteramente en Ibiza. Todo esto suena demasiado bueno para ser real pero como fue anunciado en el Summit no podrán hacer otra cosa que trabajar seriamente en ello. Y algunos hechos hablan por si mismo: En Ibiza hay más de 235 empresas involucrados en música, facturando más de 175 millones de euros al año con más de 2.500 personas trabajando – esto significa un 8% del total de trabajadores! Nosotros del dub nos consideramos parte de todo esto ya que hemos observado y promovido a Ibiza en 11 paises hace ya 9 años y haremos todo lo necesario para hacer este sueño realidad. 48

10 YEARS OF COCOON IBIZA, THAT IS A HELL OF A LONG TIME. HOW DID ALL THIS START AND WHERE DOES THE NAME COCOON COME FROM? The name Cocoon was born out of an idea I had after seeing the ‘Fura dels Baus’ in 1994 in Berlin at the Tempeldrom. They performed a show containing a sort of metamorphosis with hanging ‘cocoons’ filled with water out of which naked human bodies emerged. There I realized that the only constant thing in life is the metamorphosis, or better said the change. So I left the theatre with the idea of calling my next project ‘Cocoon’. So in 1996 I started with four parties with a circus group from England performing something similar. The line-up included very special acts like Underworld, DJ Hell, The Advent, DJ Kudo from Japan, B12 and more. At this point I was very idealistic and had no sponsor, so I paid it all out of my own pocket and it was a big financial disaster... So I gave it a break, and finally after separating from my labels Harthouse and EyeQ in 1997 and the closing of Omen in Frankfurt in 1998 I founded Cocoon in 1999. Then Mar-T from Amnesia told me the Monday would be available so we did four test parties in Amnesia the very same year. We presented a Butu dancer who had a shell and a bleeding ear, a very powerful but silent message saying ‘the power lies in tranquillity’. What I want to say is people could see that something new was being born, and both our posse from Frankfurt and the locals were very excited. And that was the beginning of the Cocoon Era :-). From 2000 on we did the full season and the rest is history.

COCOON IS NOT ONLY A PARTY, IT’S A BRAND WITH MANY FACES. TELL US MORE ABOUT IT. For me first of all Cocoon is a feeling, it is club culture, event culture is how I see it, for more than 20 years now I was always into creating platforms or networks where people come together to create something. In the beginning it was Talida, my booker, and me, developing the different branches of Cocoon step-by-step. It was first the booking agency, then the parties, the label and so on. All this was designed to spread our vision and the culture of electronic music throughout the world. And with the necessary vision, consistency, authenticity, love and passion you can reach a high quality level without the help of any commercial support. In 2000 we had T-Mobile as a sponsor and I think we worked very well together; we are all a mobile generation so we could accept this kind of sponsoring, always with aiming to create a fruitful partnership for both sides, like this it is more than just commercial support. Talking more about the different facets of Cocoon, today we have the artist agency which includes Ricardo Villalobos, Tobi Neumann, Andre Galluzzi and more recently Cassy, Onur Özer and so on, an event agency managing our international events, and, very important, Johannes controlling the Ibiza appearance. He grew into all this and today he is a very important pillar for Cocoon. TALKING ABOUT THE STAFF, HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE INVOLVED IN THE MAKING OF EACH PARTY? Well this starts very early on, we have a preparation time or, let’s say, after the season is before the season. After each season my job starts, I release the mixed CD of each summer, ‘The sound of the Season’ in combination with a world tour, and during this period my wife, Johannes, some creatives and myself already work on the concept for the next season. I have an idea in my head and together we bring it to life. Then, in a kind of brain pool we work with stylists and photographers to give it a name, a motto. So from February on we are in constant creation and Johannes and I talk already about the bookings which is not easy at all because you have to leave some behind so as to invite new faces, but this is part of the job... Then finally the whole Ibiza machinery starts to work, I guess there are around 40 people working on the realization, from decoration and doors to VIP, postering and flyering, PRs, dancers, assembling, disassembling etc. etc. We don’t want to keep getting bigger and bigger, our ambition is to evolve in small steps so we can guarantee qual-

ity in all aspects. That is also why we always said to Martin (Ferrer, owner of Amnesia) to change the terrace, and I guess we can say we were a big influence on how it finally changed to what it is today, where everybody wants to play the terrace in Amnesia. YOUR CAREER AS A DJ IS WAY OLDER, WHEN DID YOU START AND WHY? WHAT ARE YOUR ROOTS? Funnily enough it was my mother’s idea that I play in my parents’ English pub. It had a small dance floor and so in 1980 I became the DJ, or it would be better to say ‘Disc jockey’ as this was how everybody spelt it at that time :-) I was 16 years old and within one year could enter various clubs and visited Ibiza for the first time, making it clear to me that being a DJ was my dream job. And with the support of my mother I had heaven on earth... After I had worked on my technical skills I went to Dorian Gray in Frankfurt to spy on the Djs spinning there and this legendary club became my second home and was where I presented my breakdance ‘Electric Boogie’ shows. Then in 1982 I finally got asked if I want to play the Dorian Gray and got in contact with lots of other Djs such as Michael Münzing and Luca Anzillotti. After the club we would go more and more into our small home-recording studio so I got involved very early on in the process of producing electronic music, learning how to build up a dance track and what it needs to make it work on the floor. Then in 1985, after returning from Ibiza, we produced our first off record called ‘Bad News’ which turned out to be good news because my big dream was to present this record to DJs Alfredo, Pippi and César and to hear it played in Ibiza... DID THEY PLAY IT? YES they did, my most faithful was DJ Pippi, he always played my tracks, and the following year I returned with ‘Electrica Salsa’ which became this massive hit everywhere, starting in Spain and spreading to the rest of the world. With this record I had two careers running, Pop star and DJ.. I sang in the Arena di Verona and the French Guayana, I performed with Kim Wilde, Vanessa Paradis, Junior and Axel Bauer and it was a big craze for me being just 22 years old! WHERE DO YOU STILL GET THE INSPIRATION AND ENERGY TO STAND ALL THIS CRAZINESS? That is a question I also ask myself... (biiig laugh). I guess it’s because I am right at the source, which is my heart. There I get the power to do what I truly love, to live my passion for music. I never lost interest; I think I can say I am a pioneer of electronic music and my parents equipped me well with good endurance and power. I think I found the right thing to do at the right time and I always want to reinvent myself because I get bored very easily, so I am constantly changing. Another very important factor is travelling, you get inspired by what you experience, be it different cultures, nature, art, high end technology and so on. It is also very important how you structure your time for yourself, you need time for yourself, you need to live a conscious, healthy life besides all the craziness, what you eat is very important. And I got married so I feed my heart and soul as well :-), so all this completes itself, I think if I did the same thing all year long I would wear myself out. 54

YOU ARE KNOWN FOR YOUR ENDLESS SETS, HOW MANY HOURS WAS THE LONGEST? There are definitely some Djs out there who’ve played longer sets than me, my aim was never to play the longest, but my personal one was at the Love Parade in the 90’s, I played the Parade on Friday and started the after party Saturday evening and did not stop until Monday night... and I had people following me all the way through on the dance floor! In those days it was nothing so special, in the early days there was one DJ in the club playing five days from the beginning till the end of the night. There was no running order of different Djs, it was a common thing to play so many hours. If you are so deep into it you need to have a big musical repertoire and experience in mixing and creating a story, like this you can create an endless trip and bewitch the crowd. If you know your music well and are able to cross genres you can ‘paint’ any kind of story. Ricardo (Villalobos) is another of those that are able to play endless sets, he was raised in the same ‘school’ that was Frankfurt in those days, others celebrating their sets are e.g. Frank Lorber, Pascal F.E.O.S. or Mark Spoon. COCOON IN 10 YEARS? The core of Cocoon is music, and the ambition is to present this music in the best way possible, be it a club, an event, a festival or so on. Cocoon will still be a global player for ambitious electronic music, open to new impulses as well as giving new impulses to the world, not only in music but in working together with artists of other art forms as well, like the cooperation with Andreas Gursky and his photos of the Cocoon club. As for myself I see no end either, I will still play and produce, I guess there is no limit. Talking about Ibiza I would wish to maybe find the terrace open again, also maybe rock the island on some infamous beach parties - I will always be faithful to this island... 3 MOST IMPORTANT THINGS ONE NEEDS TO BECOME A DJ? First of all you need the feeling for music, rhythm, then you have to assume the responsibility to rock a crowd and you have to be ready to always search for new music, not just reproduce what other Djs do. You have to be the selector, not just look at play lists. One more thing is you should have your heart in the right place, develop the talent to make other people dance, spread good temper, be a servant and not the cool DJ with lots of groupies around. For me a cool DJ is the one still playing vinyl, but that depends on your point of view... I will always play vinyl and will go on producing it, maybe it will not be available in all countries in the future but I will always support it. IS IBIZA STILL THE CAPITAL OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC DURING THE SUMMER? Definitely, there is no place like Ibiza, so the question answers itself... Thanks to Cocoon (biiig laughter) Ibiza is still very interesting when it comes to music, I do not want to be arrogant, but I think with our line-ups we’ve inspired other promoters and the island to evolve music wise in a very positive way, so I guess it is more than ever the true capital of electronic dance music. YOUR FAVOURITE PLACES IN IBIZA? Mondays at Amnesia (bigger laughter), and the rest is my secret... THANX A LOT SVEN, AND WE CAN’T WAIT FOR THE OPENING, SEE YOU SOOOOON!

SVEN VÄTH 10 AÑOS DE COCOON IBIZA ES MUCHÍSIMO TIEMPO. ¿CÓMO EMPEZÓ TODO Y POR QUÉ EL NOMBRE DE COCOON? El nombre ‘Cocoon’ nació de una idea que tuve después de ver la ‘Fura dels Baus’ en 1994 en el Tempeldrom de Berlín. Hicieron una representaron en la que había una especie de metamorfosis con capullos (cocoons) llenos de agua colgando del techo y cuerpos desnudos saliendo de ellos. Ahí me dí cuenta de que lo único constante en la vida es la metamorfosis, o mejor dicho, el cambio. Así que dejé el teatro con la idea de dar a mi próximo proyecto el nombre de ‘Cocoon’. En 1996 empecé con cuatro fiestas, presentando entre otras cosas un grupo circense de Inglaterra con una actuación similar. El repertorio incluía actuaciones muy especiales, como Underworld, DJ Hell, The Advent, DJ Kudo de Japón, B12 y más. Yo era entonces muy idealista y no tenía patrocinador, así que lo pagaba todo de mi bolsillo y fue un desastre financiero tremendo... Así que hice una pausa y luego, tras separarme de mis sellos Harthouse y EyeQ en 1997 y de que cerrara el Omen de Frankfurt en 1998, fundé Cocoon en 1999. Mar-T de Amnesia me contactó diciéndome que los lunes estaban disponibles y empezamos con cuatro fiestas de prueba ese mismo año. Presentamos el bailarín ‘Butu’ que tenía una concha y una oreja sangrante, un potente pero silencioso mensaje: ‘la fuerza está en la tranquilidad’. Lo que quiero decir es que la gente entendía que algo nuevo había nacido, y tanto el grupo de Frankfurt como los de aquí estaban entusiasmados y ese fue el comienzo de la era Cocoon. :-) A partir del 2000 hicimos fiestas durante toda la temporada y el resto es historia. COCOON NO ES SÓLO UNA FIESTA, ES UNA MARCA CON MUCHAS FACETAS. CUÉNTANOS UN POCO MÁS. Para mí, Cocoon es ante todo una emoción, es cultura club, lo veo como una cultura de eventos. Desde hace ya 20 años he estado creando plataformas o redes en las que la gente se une para empezar algo nuevo. Al principio estábamos Talida, mi booker, y yo, desarrollando paso a paso los distintos sectores de Cocoon. Primero la agencia de contratación de artistas, luego las fiestas, el sello, etc.. El objetivo de todo ello era difundir nuestra visión de la cultura y la música electrónica por todo el mundo. Y con la visión necesaria, con constancia, autenticidad, amor y pasión puedes lograr un nivel de calidad muy alto sin apoyo comercial. En el año 2000 tuvimos a T-Mobile como patrocinador y creo que trabajamos juntos muy bien. Somos una generación móvil de forma que nos resultó fácil aceptar ese tipo de patrocinio, siempre con el fin de crear una cooperación provechosa para ambas partes, así es algo más que un simple apoyo comercial. Siguiendo con las distintas facetas de Cocoon, actualmente tenemos una agencia de artistas que cuenta con Ricardo Villalobos, Tobi Neumann, André Galluzzi, y últimamente con Cassy, Onur Özer, y otros; una agencia de eventos que gestiona nuestros eventos internacionales y, muy importante, Johannes controlando los eventos de Ibiza. Se fue haciendo con todo esto y hoy es un pilar importante de Cocoon.

HABLANDO DEL EQUIPO, ¿CUÁNTA GENTE ESTÁ INVOLUCRADA EN LA PRODUCCIÓN DE CADA FIESTA? Bueno, empezamos con mucha antelación los preparativos, digamos que después de la temporada es antes de la temporada. Después de la temporada empieza mi primera tarea, publico el CD con la compilación de mezclas de cada verano ‘The Sound of the Season’, que se combina con una gira mundial. Durante ese tiempo mi esposa, Johannes, algunos creativos y yo ya trabajamos en el concepto de la próxima temporada. Tengo una idea en la cabeza y juntos la damos vida. Luego, junto a los estilistas y fotógrafos reunimos nuestras ideas para inventar un nombre, un lema. Así que desde febrero estamos constantemente creando y Johannes y yo discutimos a quién contratar, lo que no es fácil ya que tenemos que prescindir de algunos para poder invitar nuevas caras, pero eso forma parte del trabajo … Por último toda la maquinaría de Cocoon Ibiza empieza a funcionar, calculo que son unas 40 personas las que se ocupan de la producción, desde los decorados y la organización de entrada, hasta los VIP, la distribución de posters y flyers, relaciones públicas, bailarines, montaje y desmontaje, etc. etc. No se trata de seguir creciendo todo el tiempo, lo que queremos es evolucionar paso a paso para poder garantizar calidad en todos los aspectos. Por eso siempre le decíamos a Martin (Martin Ferrer, el dueño de Amnesia) que cambiase la terraza. Y creo que hemos tenido mucha influencia en cómo se ha renovado al final – hoy todo el mundo quiere tocar en la terraza de Amnesia. TU CARRERA COMO DJ DATA DE MUCHO ANTES, ¿CUÁNDO COMENZASTE Y POR QUÉ?, ¿CUÁLES SON TUS RAÍCES? Lo gracioso es que fue mi madre quien tuvo la idea de que tocase en el pub inglés de mis padres. Tenía una pequeña pista de baile y así fue como en 1980 me convertí en un DJ, o mejor dicho, ‘discjockey’ como se decía entonces. :-) Tenía 16 años y un año después podía ya entrar en varias discotecas y también vine a Ibiza por primera vez, lo que me hizo ver claro que ser DJ era mi sueño. Y con el apoyo de mi madre era como vivir en un paraíso terrenal... Después de perfeccionar mis conocimientos técnicos fui al Dorian Gray en Frankfurt para espiar a los DJs que pinchaban allí. Ese club legendario se convirtió en mi segundo hogar. Ahí presentaba mi show de break-dance ‘Electric Boogie’. Finalmente en 1982 me propusieron tocar en el Dorian Gray y así conocí a muchos otros DJs, como Michael Münzing y Luca Anzelotti. Después del club íbamos muchas veces a nuestro pequeño estudio casero por lo que desde muy temprano me impliqué en el proceso de producción de música electrónica, aprendiendo cómo crear una pieza de música dance y qué se necesita para que funcione en la pista de baile. Luego, en 1985, después de volver de Ibiza, producimos nuestro primer disco off con el nombre de ‘Bad News’ (‘Malas noticias’) que se transformó en buenas noticias porque mi gran sueño era presentar ese disco a los DJs Alfredo, Pippi y César y escucharlo en Ibiza... ¿LO TOCARON? SI, lo tocaron, el más fiel era DJ Pippi, siempre ponía mis discos, y después al volver al año siguiente con ‘Eléctrica Salsa’ comenzó ese increíble éxito por todas partes, empezando en España y extendiéndose por el resto del mundo. Con ese disco tenía dos carreras paralelas: estrella de pop y DJ... 3.1

Canté en la Arena di Verona y en la Guayana Francesa, actué con Kim Wilde, Vanessa Paradis, Junior y Axel Bauer, ¡qué locura para un joven de 22 años! ¿DE DÓNDE SACAS TODAVÍA INSPIRACIÓN Y ENERGÍA PARA SOPORTAR TODA ESA LOCURA? Eso es lo que yo me pregunto...(risa). Supongo que es porque tengo una buena fuente, que es mi corazón. De ahí saco la fuerza para hacer lo que verdaderamente amo: vivir mi pasión por la música. Nunca he perdido el interés, creo que puedo decir que soy un pionero de la música electrónica y mis padres me dotaron de gran perseverancia y fuerza. Creo que me encontré en el sitio adecuado en el momento oportuno y siempre he querido reinventarme porque me aburro fácilmente, por eso estoy en cambio constante. Otro factor muy importante es viajar – diferentes culturas, la naturaleza, el arte, tecnología muy avanzada, etc., toda experiencia te proporciona inspiración. También es muy importante cómo utilizas tu tiempo, necesitas tiempo para ti, tienes que vivir una vida consciente y sana en medio de toda esta locura. La alimentación es muy importante. Y me casé, así que también tengo alimento para el corazón y el alma ;-). Todo esto completa mi vida, creo que si hiciera lo mismo todo el año me agotaría. DUB: SE TE CONOCE POR TUS SESIONES INTERMINABLES, ¿CUÁNTAS HORAS SON TU RÉCORD PERSONAL? No me cabe duda de que hay DJs que tocan más horas que yo, nunca ha sido mi objetivo alcanzar un récord, pero mi sesión más larga fue en un Love Parade en los años 90 - toqué en la Parade el viernes, luego empecé en el afterparty el sábado y no paré hasta el lunes por la noche. ¡y hubo gente que me siguió bailando todo el tiempo! En aquella época no era nada extraordinario, al principio sólo había un DJ en la discoteca y pinchaba 5 días toda la noche. No había una serie de diferentes DJs, era normal pinchar tantas horas. En una sesión tan intensiva necesitas una gran gama de discos y experiencia en mezclar y crear una narración, así puedes llevarte a la gente en un viaje sin fin y embrujarla con tu música. Si conoces bien tu música y eres capaz de mezclar diferentes estilos puedes ‘pintar’ cualquier tipo de historia. Ricardo (Villalobos) también es alguien capaz de tocar hasta el infinito, fue criado en la misma ‘escuela’ del Frankfurt de entonces, otros que celebran sus sesiones son por ejemplo Frank Lorber, Pascal F.E.O.S. o Mark Spoon. DUB: ¿COCOON DENTRO DE 10 AÑOS? El núcleo de Cocoon es la música, y nuestra ambición es presentar esa música de la mejor forma posible, sea en un club, un evento, un festival, etc. Cocoon seguirá siendo un referente global de la música electrónica ambiciosa, abierto a nuevos impulsos y dando nuevos impulsos al mundo, no sólo en la música sino en el trabajo con artistas de otras formas de arte, como la cooperación con Andreas Gursky y sus fotos del Cocoon Club. Y yo por mi parte no me veo parando, seguiré pinchando y produciendo, creo que no hay límite. Hablando de Ibiza me gustaría ver abierta de nuevo la terraza de Amnesia, hacer temblar a la isla en algunas mal afamadas fiestas en la playa – siempre seré fiel a esta isla... ¿LAS 3 COSAS MÁS IMPORTANTES PARA HACERSE DJ? 56

Primero necesitas un buen feeling para la música y el ritmo, luego tienes que asumir la responsabilidad de entretener al público y tienes que estar dispuesto a buscar siempre nueva música en vez de copiar lo que los otros DJs hacen. Tienes que seleccionar tú mismo y no sólo consultar los playlists. Además tienes que tener el corazón en su sitio, desarrollar la habilidad de hacer bailar a la gente, transmitir buenas ondas, ser un servidor y no un DJ chulo con un montón de grupis alrededor. Para mí un buen DJ es el que aún pincha vinilos,… pero eso es una cuestión de opinión... Yo siempre pincharé con vinilos y seguiré produciéndolos, igual no se podrán conseguir en todos los países en el futuro pero siempre lo apoyaré. DUB: ¿SIGUE SIENDO IBIZA LA CAPITAL DE LA MÚSICA ELECTRÓNICA DURANTE EL VERANO? Definitivamente, no hay ningún sitio como Ibiza, así que la respuesta se sobreentiende... Gracias a Cocoon (gran risa) Ibiza sigue siendo muy interesante con respecto a la música. No quiero parecer arrogante pero creo que con nuestra selección hemos inspirado a otros promotores y a la isla a evolucionar de manera muy positiva en lo que respecta a la música. Así que creo que ahora más que nunca es la verdadera capital de la música electrónica dance. ¿TUS LUGARES FAVORITOS EN IBIZA? WELCOME TO DUB AND CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR LABEL WITH SUCH A GOOD NAME :-) - DOES IT HAVE A DEEPER MEANING OR IS IT JUST BECAUSE YOU KEEP PODENCOS AT HOME? We liked the name because it is part of the island, podencos are the local hunting dogs and they hunt together as a pack without a top dog. We chose the name because it ties in with our philosophy of working as a team and we hunt for talent. WHO ARE PODENCO RECORDINGS? We’re a record label, which was founded in the summer of 2008, by Willie Buetas, Domi Pastor and Nano Vergel. Our purpose is to select artists and new talent from in and outside of the electronic music scene. Podenco Recordings made its first release in December 2008 and now has 17 releases to date, all with great reviews in the business. WHERE IS YOUR STUDIO? Actually each artist has their own studio, however, we have a main studio in Ibiza where we filter and choose from the countless demos we receive each month. We also master tracks there. It’s called Silence Fields Studio.

CAN YOU DEFINE THE LABEL’S STYLE? Podenco Recordings does not have a fixed style which is why we have subdivisions such as Podenco Rock, Podenco Chill and Podenco Recordings, the latter being the electronic music label. Nos gustó el nombre porque se identifica con la isla; los podencos son perros de caza autóctonos que cazan en grupo sin que uno sea el líder. Elegimos ese nombre porque conviene a nuestra filosofía de trabajar en grupo y a la caza de talentos. ¿QUIÉN ES PODENCO RECORDINGS? Es un sello discográfico que nació en Ibiza en el verano de 2008, fundado por Willie Buetas, Domi Pastor y Nano Vergel. Nos dedicamos a la selección de artistas y nuevos talentos dentro y fuera de la música electrónica. kiki aka joakim ijäs from finnland presents this new longplayer on bpitch control – best berlin minimal techno with a very sexy flavour, more melodies and enough deepness to conquer even the ones not so much into minimal. seems like this genre is opening up to other horizons to multiply their number of afiliates.

a very early review as this one is going to be released in august, but i can’t resist... jamie seems to have reinvented the sexy grooves once more – from the megatrack ‘summertime’ over ‘sand dunes’ or ‘mexico’ he wrote another masterpiece of how to create a unique electric atmosphere – killer!

this is definitely the peak of his productions up to date. helmut geier aka dj hell is at the very peak of his carreer, and it seems that he is still climbing up for more. going back to his roots, he researched his ‘70’s music repertoire and connected it with not-so-old 303 sounds, out comes an absolute killer. wousa!

sideshow, sian and will saul are just some of the artists showcasing their latest understanding of finest underground house music, irresistible enough to make you move without even thinking about it. just five trax, but each one of them is already a classic. big respect from dub :-)

now this is one of my favourite lps right now. gui is one of the most talented techno producers of all times, and the deepness he shows on this lp is like no other he ever produced. the title track is really taking it away, and the others are just as good. let’s hope he won’t ever change his mind and ‘just’ keeps evolving.

he is not only the head of poker flat but as well skilled enough to join forces with some of the heavyweights in contemporary dance music. amongst them are clé, cassy, donnacha costello and more. out comes an album full of diversity and deepness, irresistible grooves, all together an addictive masterpiece!

The first is also one of the standout songs on ‘Feed The Horse’.
