BLA, BLA, BLA EDITOR‘S LETTER TEXT: ANDREAS SIMON
Here we go again, it is the 20st of july and we are sitting in our offices exhausted from the heat and all the hazzle that comes with it. Lorenzo, our poet, wrote a nice piece about the inner and outer heat, you find it in the mag... As the seasons get shorter and shorter we from dub magazine decided to ‘just’ do two issues this year, so the one you hold in your hand is almost sure the last one for this season, but we have done more copies and we will distribute it until the end of summer. It is not based on the ‘crisis’ (that does not exist), it is just a matter of quality, as we like to deliver the best product possible. And in case you feel like sponsoring the last issue you are more than welcome to contact us at +34 971 198 374 or mail to info@dubibiza.com, we can always do a special edition. And why is the season getting shorter and shorter? Because the island is lacking a clear definition of where we will go, we are somewhere between the often-discussed family-island which i do not see at all because there is not enough infrastructure that could attract those families, they will always keep going to Mallorca or other places where they find what they look for, and the worldwide known party-island Ibiza. A local newspaper wrote the other day that the touroperators ask for more ‘all-inclusive’ offers to face the crisis, in my opinion it can only make it worse because those touroperators are the only ones making money out of this, all local facilities such as hotels, restaurants, beaches and shops do not make any money because these people pay the trip at home and will not leave the hotel for whatever. And why should they, as they have it ‘all included’ wherever they stay. We should improve our services, think seriously about a different price politic when it comes to flights and accomodation, and renting a car those days is no fun because if you are lucky enough to find one they charge you 100 Euros daily for a small-sized car – that is not nice... The ones still coming to the island big time are the party people, and thank god they still find what they look for, the best parties in the best venues, you can even celebrate some nice beachparties in Playa d’en Bossa that becomes more and more like Miami’s Collins Street. And with the ‘Ibiza Music Islan’d project there is hope to finally recover the old spirit of Ibiza, i said it before and i say it again and again, life in Ibiza in summer is about having fun, enjoying the beaches to easy beats, chill on a hidden cala, tune into a long night at a nice lounge-restaurant, visit the towns for some drinks before going into the small and big clubs that are of the best in the world. By the way, we wrote an article about ‘El Puerto Muerto’ in this edition, let’s hope that this unique spot will partly recover its flair as it is a key point in the whole Ibiza package and all people involved should sit together to find the best solution possible for all parties. So it is time to say goodbyyyye for me, one good thing about doing ‘just’ two issues this season is that i will be able to enjoy this summer to the max as the best is still to come.

MISSIONAIRE INTERVIEW WITH STEPHEN RUSSELL TEXT: ANDREAS SIMON // PHOTO: PR
WWW.BAREFOOTDOCTORGLOBAL.COM
6
IT WAS ONE OF THOSE MOMENTS WHEN I KNOW THAT THE MORE RELAXED YOU LISTEN TO YOUR INTUITION THE EASIER THINGS COME TO YOU, AS IF THERE WOULD EXIST A KIND OF SUPERIOR SCRIPT, BUT IN REALITY IT IS JUST YOU DOING THE RIGHT THING IN THE RIGHT MOMENT. WHEN I HEARD ABOUT STEPHEN RUSSELL, THE BAREFOOT DOCTOR, IT WAS CLEAR TO ME THAT HE IS SOMEBODY WE DEFINITELY HAVE TO PRESENT IN DUB MAGAZINE. AND EVEN MORE AS HE BECAME A MEMBER OF THE IBIZA FAMILY LAST YEAR, BEING TOLD BY A NEW MEXICAN SHAMAN THAT HE SHOULD LOOK FOR A PLACE WHERE THE PYRENEES MEET THE MEDITERRANEAN AND, AFTER TRYING OUT THE CATALAN MAINLAND FOR FIVE YEARS BUT NOT BEING CONVINCED HE BUMPED INTO MIKE AND CLAIRE FROM MANUMISSION AND THEY INVITED HIM TO IBIZA ‘TO BRING THE TAO TO MANUMISSON’ ARRIVING TO IBIZA HE IMMEDIATELY CONNECTED WITH THE ISLAND, HAVING A DEEP FEELING THAT HE FINALLY FOUND THE PLACE WHERE HE SHOULD LIVE. AFTER ARRIVING AT ATZARÓ WHERE HE’D JUST HELD ONE OF HIS ‘ENERGY INJECTION’ DAYS, I CAME RIGHT IN TIME TO SIT DOWN WITH HIM HAVING A WONDERFUL CONVERSATION, KNOWING INSTANTLY THAT I WOULD BE ENRICHED BY THIS FIRST ENCOUNTER, HOPING THAT MORE WILL FOLLOW... SO HOW DOES ONE BECOME A BAREFOOT DOCTOR? He enjoyed a mystically oriented childhood, studied Aikido, energy healing and meditation at age 11, studied yoga, Tai Chi in his late teens, the human psyche and how to approach it with RD Laing in his early 20s, shamanism living with the Native Americans for four years in New Mexico and acupuncture and Taoism in his mid- to late -twenties, returned to London in ’83, ran a busy acupuncture healing practice until 2000, while also doing experimental performance events, workshops, seminars and talks, making healing music and teaching Tai Chi and meditation. In 2000 he went full time into book-writing, media and running this site, which has been in existence since 1998 as an informal online Taoism training school and virtual clinic (through email coaching). He spends his time writing, running the site, making music, doing workshops, seminars, talks and musical events around the world and helping people.
I think it’s a combination of both - the destiny is already mapped out yet we also have to rise up to meet it. It’s a paradox, but then what isn’t. It seems as if there’s a given destiny, which only reaches its potential fullness when we participate actively by being bold enough to step out of the safety zone and risk ourselves in being willing to grow. HOW DOES YOUR PERFECT DAY LOOK LIKE? my mind is settled, my emotions are settled, I’m not worrying myself, I’m not triggering my adrenalin, I’m peaceful, I’m healthy, I’ve got positive cashflow and all the everyday details are in place, I get everything done easily, I do my taichi and other practice in the sun and go for a swim in the sea, I hang out with kind, warm, authentic people with whom I have scintillating conversation at the deepest and lightest level, I feel satisfied the whole day long, I feel I am where I’m meant to be, I receive at least three wonderful surprises that change my circumstances for the better by a quantum leap and I experience bliss in one way or another - something like that. DO YOU WALK BAREFOOT? yes often but ‘barefoot doctor’ is actually an old Chinese expression, a metaphor implying a humble healer who wanders about helping everyone enjoy their lives more. NAME SEVEN THINGS YOU WOULD DEFINITELY CHANGE IN THIS WORLD. 1- would make it obligatory for everyone to have at least one year of therapy. 2- I would legalize all drugs on a global level - this would boost the global economy exponentially and stop the useless waste of spending vast sums fighting something unfightable, it would lessen the forbidden fruit aspect (Portugal decriminalized all drugs as an experiment and usage dropped significantly), it would reduce criminality and would be sign we’d finally stopped living in a pretend world adhering to an ideal rather than working with what actually is - it would be a sign we’d matured a bit instead of running the world lke a bunch of babies as is currently the case.
IN THE FOLLOWING WE TRY TO GIVE YOU A BIT MORE INFORMATION ON WHAT HIS MISSION IS ABOUT BY ASKING HIM A FEW SIMPLE QUESTIONS:
3 - I would make it obligatory for everyone t o learn and practice a martial art, as this would reduce violence levels and increase a natural respect for the sanctity of all life.
CAN ANYBODY BECOME WHAT YOU ARE? yes, if they’re willing to train for about 8 years and then dedicate their lives to it, to letting go and following the path the Tao leads them on regardless of reward levels but in a less intensive way anyone can benefit immensely from following the techniques I teach even if they don’t become a barefoot doctor.
4 - I would make it obligatory for everyone to practice meditation every day as this would increase peace on an individual and collective level.
IS THERE ANY EASY EXERCISE(S) TO IMPROVE A DAY? start by relaxing your muscles, breathing more slowly and vsualizing a clear diamond turning slowly in the centre of your brain (this clears your mind), then ask yourself what sort of outcome you wish for today - presumably you feeling beautiful, healthy, strong, loved, safe, pleased with your life and so on - then say, ‘I choose this outcome today’ - and that’s precisely the outcome you’ll manifest. DO YOU THINK WE ALWAYS HAVE A CHOICE OR IS IT ALREADY CARVED IN STONE?
5 - I would make it obligatory for all world leaders to attend a workshop with me at least once a year, where they’d be able to break down all the blocks in communication and be able to reach a state of mutual wisdom 6 - I would have them teach the fundamentals of meditation, healing, martial arts, communications skills, philosophy and the tenets of wisdom from infant school upwards 7 - I would divert massive funds (possibly derived from the tax revenues gained by legalizing all drugs) into viable projects for creating sustainable energy, food production, water desalination and so on 3.2
7
IS IBIZA THE PLACE YOU WERE LOOKING FOR? yes totally - I lived in New Mexico but it didn’t have the sea - I lived in Catalunya but it didn’t have the fun, I spent years traveling about in Asia but it didn’t have the European charm or sophistication - I always held off coming to Ibiza in case it let me down, then one day the Tao led me here via a nice quirk of fate and driving around one day I found myself thinking how much like New Mexico it looked and felt like yet there was the sparkling blue sea, and how much like Catalunya with all the beauty but there’s all these wonderful people and all this fun, and how much like being in Thailand or India it felt, yet here was as much charm and sophistication you’d ever want (except for the internet which really is double-triple-crap) - and then I thought, ‘well blow me, this is the place I’ve been looking for all my life.’ THE BAREFOOT DOCTOR PUBLISHED SEVERAL BOOKS, E.G. PURE, HANDBOOK FOR THE URBAN WARRIOR, RETURN OF THE URBAN WARRIOR, MANIFESTO, HANDBOOK FOR MODERN LOVERS, LIBERATION, TWISTED FABLES FOR TWISTED MINDS, INSTANT ENLIGHTMENT, HANDBOOK FOR HEROES, DEAR BAREFOOT, THE INVINCIBILITA TRAINING, AND IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON HIS LATEST BOOK THE MAN WHO DROVE WITH HIS EYES CLOSED AND MY OTHER ASTONISHING TEACHERS AND GURUS, TO BE PUBLISHED OCTOBER 5TH BY HAY HOUSE AND HIS NEXT ENERGY INJECTION DAY AT ATZARO IS ON AUGUST 25TH – CALL ATZARO TO BOOK A PLACE.

This is a space dedicated to some helpful advices improving your quality of life using products that are given to us by mother nature, or are derived from her.
The most useful and natural is definitely the Aloe Vera, you can find it almost everywhere here in Ibiza, if you can go and buy a plant or get a branch from a friend and plant it at home. You can use it for skin treatment in case of irritations, sunburn, scratches or middle sized wounds, it will definitely heal them. And on a long term use your skin will look a lot younger. After a long night out you should try a drink made out of the flesh of the Aloe Vera leaf, just cut out the transparent inner part, put it in the mixer with water, lemon and some honey, out comes a perfect summer drink that will calm your stomach whatever you made him go through :-)
Y usado a largo plazo rejuvenecerá tu piel. :-)
Another fantastic trick after a long night out is to cut a lemon in slices and eat it with some seasalt on top, it alcalizes your blood and adds some extra vitamine c to your body. It won’t have the same effect if you try several white tequilas with lemon and salt best taken pure before going to sleep :-)
If you like it salty you should go and get some Umeboshi, it is a japanese plum that comes as a redish cream, very salty and tasty, alcalizes your blood and is perfect to prevent a serious hangover, amongst other very helpful effects. Best taken as well before going to sleep, one tea spoon is enough :-)
Spirulina is a japanese alga that is well-known for its very high content of vitamins, minerals and proetins, amongst other very helpful ingredients. You can buy it in tablet form and take 3-6 tablets each morning, it will help you to stand the summer’s heat a lot better and rise your energy level. There are a lot of other effects provided by this alga, inform yourself at wikipedia :-)
Pomegranate is another natural bomb, it is full of antioxidants to fight the free radicals that are mainly responsible for our aging process. Right now it is not the season for it as they grow in autumn, so right now you can only get a juice derived from it. The ancient egypt kings took it as well as an aphrodisiac, so if you need some support try this out, even if it does not have this effect it will do you good :-)
Wild Rose Oil (Rosa Mosqueta in spanish) is magic when it comes to treat any kind of wounds, scars or other skin irritations. You can get it in local pharmacies and it will become your true friend, believe me. After you apply it the oil begins to work immediately, calming any kind of itching, and the day after you won’t believe your eyes :-)
Last but NEVER least i want to mention an exercise that will put an end on all fitness gym visits, expensive machines at home or whatever effort you made to get inm better shape. What i am talking about is ‘The Five Tibetans’, a very easy 5-step exercise that will take 10 minutes each day but you will look and feel better than ever. You won’t become a second Arnold but your body will shape like aging does not exist. It takes too long to explain all five exercises here, so go to www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_ Tibetan_Rites to get the full info or see www.lifeevents.org/5tibetans-energy-rejuvenation-exercises.htm for more detailed information adding an animastion to it.

SECRET INGREDIENTS INTERVIEW WITH TIRRY TEXT: NATALIA SALAZAR // PHOTO: PHRANK
WWW.MYSPACE.COM/TIRRY
26
THERE ARE FEW SO VERSATILE AS TIRRY. FROM SHOWMAN TO DRAGQUEEN TO BARMAN TO PR, HIS CREATIVITY IS JUST ABOUT AS VERSATILE AS IT GETS- ART, PHOTOGRAPHY, MUSIC, PERFORMANCE AND OF COURSE, HIS LONG STARRING ROLE AS THE PERSONALITY BEHIND LA TROYA’S INFAMOUS COCOLOCO BAR. A TRUE CHAMELEON, A RESTLESS SPIRIT, TIRRY HAS CLIMBED DOWN FROM HIS TRAPEZE, DISCARDED HIS HIGH HEELS AND HIS ALTER EGO AND UNCOVERED THE MAN BEHIND THE MASK- THE MOST AUTHENTIC ROLE HE’S PLAYED YET. YOU FIRST ARRIVED IN IBIZA IN 1993. WHAT WAS IT ABOUT THE ISLAND THAT MADE THE BIGGEST IMPRESSION ON YOU BACK THEN? It was all very emotional, I was a young kid of 20 living in Spain for the first time, and it was amazing. Those first four months flew by without me even realizing, and before I knew it, I found myself back at home in Italy, weighing 45kg, with a pounding headache and a desire to get back here asap. The spirit of Ibiza welcomed me and my ways and that was a huge bonus. Here was the peace and freedom I had been looking for; it was that sense of freedom amongst the Ibiza people that affected me most of all, more even than the making the move from Italy. HOW ABOUT NOWADAYS, WHAT IS IT THAT STILL KEEPS YOU HERE? I always like to imagine that Ibiza was built on the site of Atlantis; maybe it’s got something to do with its size and the number of civilizations that have settled here over the years. Of course, I’m no archeologist but that’s how I dream of Ibiza. Then of course, there are the most amazing places to visit. My favourite has to be the orange grove that I discovered in Buscatell. It’s right in the very heart of the island and one of the few locations in Ibiza with a natural stream, the water is channelled to the soil with ancient Arabic irrigation and there’s always spontaneous bursts of oranges and lemons. And the place is so incredibly peaceful. >

WHAT BITS OF THE ‘REAL TIRRY’ CAN BE FOUND IN TIRRY THE PERFORMER? Little by little, I’ve been trying to kill off the stage character. Throughout my 30s I saw that my alter-ego became more popular, had more of a life and took up more of my time than the real me. I had to put in so much groundwork so that the character could really shine. One night, during the show finale, I announced, ‘One moment please, here I am!’ From there, I began to make more and more changes to get back to the real me. I’m still working on it.. HAS YOUR IMAGE CHANGED MUCH OVER THE YEARS? Constantly. I sometimes meet friends who haven’t seen me for a couple of years and they don’t recognize me. In my early years, I always wore these massive high heels and this platinum blonde wig down to my waist, with some torn red fishnets and a collection of totally mismatching accessories. I was always running around the place, always arriving late with this giant hairpiece blowing in the wind and a face like thunder. Obviously, on the inside, I was calm and sweet but I just loved that punk spirit. In those days, I was easy to spot; nowadays, I get noticed more for my music or my art. THERE’S NO DOUBT THAT YOU OWE SOME OF YOUR FAME TO YOUR STRONG PRESENCE AT LA TROYA- HOW DID YOU FIRST GET INVOLVED? I’ve been knee deep in La Troya since 1994 but I hardly remember those first seven or eight years, it was a total emotional whirlwind. I just remember it as intense confusion-I’d get up on the trapeze, then I’d get down from it again, then I’d get busy at the CocoLoco bar, then I’d finish up there, then it was time to leave the club. It all happened so fast and frantically that I hardly had time to think about what was going on. Later on, I started to perfect things more; work more professionally. I realised that the most important thing is that the client is happy. It’s not just about inviting them to the club, it’s about making sure they have a great time when they get there. The CocoLoco is a bit like a therapy - a cocktail bar where a lot more happens than just the serving of drinks. It’s much more than that. Everyone always wonders about the secret ingredient in your CocoLoco cocktail. Tell us what it definitely doesn’t contain.. It does have two or three secret ingredients, for sure, but don’t overthink it; it’s more in the preparation more than the ingredients. It’s an elaborate process that only Brasilio, Carla, I and a few others know and we’ll take the secret to the grave. If I had to name one secret ingredient, I’d say it’s the way I serve it. That’s something you don’t find in any other bar. We definitely don’t add bad vibes or out of date products, that’s why it tastes great. The faithful come back every year for more. WHY DO YOU KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO? I often ask myself what would I do if I won the lottery, be it 3, 20 or 800 million euros-would I keep working? I think I probably would but minus the stress, schedules and the pay, on the condition that I could work at my leisure. We’re a big team and we’ve experienced so much together over the years, a lot of it totally surreal. That’s something that money can’t buy. A suitcase with 20 million euros would give me infinite security but I’m sure it wouldn’t stop me doing what I do.
28
IS THERE ANYTHING IN YOUR LIFE YOU’VE THOUGHT OF GIVING UP OR HAVE ALREADY GIVEN UP? I’m not really one for giving up, although I guess I did relinquish my alter-ego when it became obvious that he was taking over. I’ve missed a lot of opportunities over the years because when you choose one lifestyle, it means that you have to give up other stuff, stuff that doesn’t correspond with the life you want to lead. But that’s more like making a choice rather than giving something up. I try not to get too attached to things otherwise I’d end up with an enormous case of Diogenes Syndrome. We have to let go of our baggage; everything is so transient that it’s when we don’t let go that we start to suffer. YOU’VE ALWAYS WORKED AS A PERFORMER AND SHOWMAN. WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 20YEARS? I’ve been a drag queen, a waiter, a PR, performer, singer, artist..and I see myself doing pretty much the same for the next 20 years, I’m not going to change that much! Even though it takes me longer to recover than before, I plan to continue with the same enthusiasm to do an infinite number of things, open to anything. I see myself in a gorgeous house, with beautiful sea views, surrounded by paintbrushes and recounting anecdotes to my brother’s children. I don’t have the paternal instinct in me to have my own kids; I’m a Sagittarius who wants to stay free. TELL US ABOUT TIRRY AS ARTIST. I was practically born with a paintbrush in my hand, and always knew I wanted to nurture that side of me- I studied Art and came to Ibiza just after I got my Diploma. The pencil is an extension of my life and the hand holding it is very in tune with my brain. I recently decided to focus on photography and with the help of Photoshop, I can use a palette of virtual colours and achieve the same effect with photos as I can with paintings. YOU PRODUCED A SERIES OF PAINTINGS FEATURING HIGH HEELS ATTACHED TO MUTILATED LEGS. WHAT WAS THE THINKING BEHIND THAT? It’s the end of an era. I have worn heels for years and I’ve loved it but now I’m at a stage where I just don’t see myself in them or maybe it’s just that I’m over it. That feeling was reflected in those paintings; hacked up legs but still keeping the sentiment of fetish that’s portrayed by a high heel. When I paint I use a lot of colour, I love surrealism and pop art. I love having an empty canvas to play with. AND WHEN DID YOU START WITH THE MUSIC? It’s my latest discovery! About five years ago a DJ in Barcelona got me to do some vocals, before that I was too embarrassed to even sing in the shower. After that, we went to Palma to record my first track and I enjoyed it so much I wanted to learn more about it. I started by talking over the music but knew that what I really wanted to do was sing, but I hadn’t got the knowledge or the proper breathing techniques so I spent about two or three years learning how to sing and song -write. Then, I met Lucien, a music producer from Murcia through Myspace who I’ve been courting for two years after he seduced me with a track that I wanted to add lyrics to. After that, he told me that he had produced a track especially for me and at the start of the summer, we formed a group called Lucien Seduce a Tirry, otherwise known as the slightly trippy LST.
PERFORMER, SHOWMAN, DRAG QUEEN, CAMARERO, RELACIONES PÚBLICAS...

¿HAS CAMBIADO MUCHO TU IMAGEN? ¿seguiría yendo a trabajar?
HAS TRABAJADO COMO PERFORMER, SHOWMAN... ¿TIRRY DENTRO DE 20 AÑOS? Transformista, camarero, relaciones públicas, performer, cantante, pintor... No tengo espíritu paterno.

It is logic and we have to turn around this evolution, if not it will be very difficult in the future. Another good idea would be to build a tram to transport the people to all places.
BAR MARAVILLAS / LEO WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION? I am a tailor, i can fix everything. QUE HACES? soy sastra, arreglo todo. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION? once upon a time there was a port... QUE PIENSAS? habia una vez un puerto... 3.2

WE MAKE YOU SMILE WWW.BURLINGTONPROJECT.ES
The Casio G- Shock backed burlingtonproject.co.uk is launching Burlington Project Ibiza this summer burlingtonproject.es Burlington project nurtures new DJs and producers by giving them a platform to upload and promote their produced tracks and mixes. It’s social networking for electronic music fans. It also provides an objective guide to underground music events in your city and gives you the latest music and clubbing news. Burlington Ibiza will expand the network of musicians and provide authoritative news and event info on the most interesting parties in Ibiza. We from dub magazine will be partnering with B.P. Ibiza for editorial content and whatpeopleplay.com will be on board both, co.uk and .es sites for charts and other musical content. As part of G-Shocks support of electronic music in Ibiza they will be supporting Burlington Project in a series of events with We Love Sundays at Space that will take place in Space’s Red Box every other Sunday. The line-up has been carefully programmed to represent artists who are making the most interesting music on the European scene but sometimes get over looked in Ibiza because they are not big room DJs. The intimate nature of the Red Box is the perfect space to house a warm personal party. The room will be an audio-visual experience with 360 degree video projections from some of Europe’s leading visual artists. www.burlingtonproject.com is broadcasting a fortnightly radio show on Sonica FM every monday night 10 p.m. with unsigned music from their producers chart and music and interviews from their Red Box guests. We have set up a competition on the burlingtonibiza.es site with a very simple question to be answered online: Who invented the Smiley? The first right answer wins a uniquely designed watch by Casio G-Shock for Paul Woolford (it’s because he loves acid house :-)) with a retro-smiley-design. There are only 10 examples of this watch so make sure you hurry up, log in and give the right answer... Oh, and one more condition: In case you are the winner you have to come personally to our offices in San Rafael to pick it up :-)

Bazaar” opened its doors on 27th June despite administrative difficulties that weighed on the former ‘La Diosa’. The entire Bazaar team led by Mr. Lagache and Mr. Zauft, have shown that not only are they not like, or even similar to La Diosa, but that their wish ( already put to the test by the public’s accolades), is to bring Ibiza an innovative, fresh and elegant venue, for every style and all manner of public. Its open plan design, dedicated above all to gastronomic excellence, with a thematic restaurant which offers an original way of tasting dishes of the highest quality at reasonable prices. The dishes can be accompanied by the best imported wines from the extensive winelist. Not forgetting the delicacy desserts, all of this with excellent service. An additional surprise are the extra large tables where diners share the soiree in privacy, surrounded by an ivy-edged fruit and vegetable garden, with echoes of the glamorous nocturnal terraces of Paris. In a separate space, Bazaar has a sitting room for chatting, or enjoying a pleasant sunset, accompanied by lounge music from their Sound Pilots, providing a daily dose of musical professionalism, vouched for through years of experience and the fusion of different styles from all over the world, in the perfect setting: a mongolian yurta more than 200m2, with comfortable furniture and a unique cocktail service. As an additional service, Bazaar has a private club, where daily different styles of music are played live to suit every taste, flamenco, bossa-nova... also including electronic music sessions which make the dancefloor vibrate, with perfect sound proofing to avoid problems with the neighbours. Soon Bazaar will also host a small, quality crafts fair, where purchases can be made away from a crowded city, and another gastronomic hotspot situated in the interior courtyard of the market, in the style of the “Pain Quotidiane” of Paris. Early on Sunday mornings there is an exclusive ecological market. Amongst other services, so that all can enjoy themselves, is a little one’s play area, supervised by qualified staff to take care of and entertain the children in safety. If we add to all of this the art exhibitions and different performances held, it is clearly the perfect place to enjoy long summer nights in the heart of the island. A special place for special people which will certainly become a must for tourists and locals with good taste.

ON 3RD OF AUGUST 2009, SAM SHAW, IN ASSOCIATION WITH ATZARO BRINGS YOU A GOOD TO MEET YOU PRODUCTION, “THE EARTH HARP CONCERT”, a unique, audience participated, architectural, spiritual and musical experience of Mantra’s and instrumental sounds from around the world.During the Earth Harp Concert, the audience will encounter a unique audio and visual environment of large scale instruments accompanied by a fusion of new-world electronica and Sanskrit mantras sung by Macedonian born, musician, singer and Kundalini Yoga Guru Maya Fiennes. Mantras are a meditation technique that uses a charged word or phrase to focus attention, to activate energy, and to unfold the potentials of consciousness, and for the first time in Ibiza this 46

ancient practice and foremost natural high is accompanied by the Earth Harp, a large-scale, architectural stringed instrument designed and played by architect and sound connoisseur from Venice Beach, William Close. The Earth Harp holds the record for the Longest Stringed Instrument in the world with strings that have run over 1,000 ft in length, and has been commission as both a performance and installation piece in recognized organizations such as The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Illinois Institute of Technology, Carnegie Melon Science Center, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Talieson and Cirque du Soleil. The fusion of the hypnotic mantras, resonating sounds of the Earth Harp, music from various compelling instruments from around the world together with the audience, draws us into complete interconnectedness, consciousness and harmony in the surroundings of a musical architectural environment as never seen before in Ibiza. The Earth Harp Concert will be a stunning evening to remember emotionally, physiologically, psychologically and spiritually.“It is through the resonance of design that I find a true understanding of music and its powerful relationship to life” – William Close. Good to Meet you Productions.

DESPITE OTHER DESTINATIONS ON THIS PLANET THAT DEDICATE THEMSELVES TO PARTYING IBIZA SEEMS TO HAVE FOUND A FORMULA TO SURVIVE THIS SO-CALLED ‘CRISIS’ THAT, WE SAID IT BEFORE, DOES NOT EXIST. WE MIGHT BE A BIT DOWN ON NUMBERS OF TOURISTS VISITING THE ISLAND BUT THOSE WHO COME ARE READY TO FORGET THEIR DAILY ROUTINE FOR A WHILE AND DANCE THE NIGHTS AWAY AS IF THERE IS NO TOMORROW. AND LET’S FACE IT, LESS NUMBER BUT MORE QUALITY IS SOMETHING THAT WILL DO VERY GOOD TO THE ISLAND AS IT IS ALL ABOUT IMPROVING QUALITY, NOT NUMBERS. THIS WILL ENSURE THE SURVIVAL OF IBIZA AS THE NUMBER ONE DESTINATION IN CLUBBING IN THE FUTURE. We saw the end of DC10 coming already last year, and now it seems to be definite – one of the leading places of wild partying is gone :-( But where one thing ends another one rises, or in the case of Ibiza, several new venues arose from the dark. First to mention is the freshly rebuilt ‘BOHO’ being the former

MARTINA
LE MASQUE
PRIVILEGE
Extasis on the entrance of San Antonio, just opposite ‘the egg’. A beautiful venue designed in the most classic way – a round dancefloor surrounded by different levels of stages to see and be seen. Another fact that we like a lot are the door- and drinkpolitics that opt for quality to a reasonable price, what makes clubbing even more enjoyable and does not give you the feeling of being ripped-off for nothing. A warm and powerful soundsystem convert the night in a real clubbing experience, and the selected promoters do the rest – out comes a new star on Ibiza’s nightlife. You can find more details about the different promoters and their line-ups in our discoplan. AVDA. DE PORTMANY, SAN ANTONIO, RES. 654.052420 / WWW.BOHOIBIZA.COM
Second and most youngest add-on to our clublife is the new rebuild ‘LE MASQUE’ formerly known as Kiss, Somny or Diva, in the heart of Playa d’en Bossa. They opened their doors in the first days of July and are too fresh to have a detailed plan of promoters up to now, so we can only talk about the venue itself – two
floors and a lovely roof terrace, the main floor is equipped with a wooden dancefloor that converts excessive dancing into pure workout for your booty without ruining your back. Another perfect detail is the roof on the main floor full of leds to colour the floor in harmony with the monstruous beats. CALLE ALZINES 17, IBIZA / TEL. 971.303603 / WWW.LEMASQUE.ES
Almost neighbours to ‘LE MASQUE’ ,is another venue in Playa d’en Bossa, the ‘MARTINA’, a discotheque in the most classic way with a central main floor and a backspace that can be opened or closed to fit in each promoter’s vision. They also provide a wooden dancefloor, as we said before this is by far the best way to dance hours and hours, swinging to the powerful beats. A massive lightshow on the walls to the left and right round up the night. C/ DE LA MURTRA 5, PLAYA D’EN BOSSA/IBIZA – RES. 689.002003 – MARTINAIBIZA.COM

PACHA
Amongst the existing big clubs AMNESIA, on the road San Antonio - Ibiza made a massive change in rebuilding the terrace again, now it is a real clubbing experience with a massive soundsystem and a new lightshow, i guess there is not one DJ that would not love to spin the wheels in that booth. The main floor is as massive as ever, sound and light are state-of-the-art. Amnesia today is a special experience anyway as there are so many terraces, levels and spaces there should be a perfect spot for everybody, whether you are more into dancing, spectating or see-and-be-seen. To know more about the different promoters and nights we once again recommend our extended discoplan :-) CTRA. IBIZA – SAN ANTONIO KM5, IBIZA – TEL. 971.198041 – WWW.AMNESIA-IBIZA.COM
EDEN in San Antonio is a beautiful venue in the classic way, painted all in white and with several small stages, floors and a massive soundsystem they round up their clubbing experience á la San Antonio in their very own, personal way. The crowd is willing to party 100%, so you better be prepared before entering this club. C/ SALVADOR ESPIRIU, S/N, SAN ANTONIO - 971 340 212 - WWW.EDENIBIZA.COM
El Divino in the harbour of Ibiza has had some changes in their promoter line-ups as well, some left and some came, seems they are opting as well for more parties made by themselves, as this is how it worked years ago before the big promoter thing became fashion. Still the view to the old town is breath taking, the soundsystem seems to be reforced totally as it is a lot warmer than before, and with the restaurant included you can have an early start to twist into a long night out.
EL DIVINO
what they are up to. It is living craze, and the english crowd are well-known for their excessive partying. CALLE SALVADOR ESPIRITU 2, SAN ANTONIO – TEL. 971.346600 – WWW.ESPARADIS.COM
PACHA in the outskirts of Ibiza is still a unique clubbing experience, growing from a former finca to the monster that it is today with several clubs inside, different terraces, lounges, restaurant and even with an own hotel just opposite the road. The refurbished soundsystem on the main floor is better than ever, making this floor a dream when it comes to dancing, and with the several levels you can perfectly place yourself wherever you like to be, on the forefront or ‘just’ watching, visit the small floors or hang out in the lounges. AV. 8 DE AGOSTO, S/N, IBIZA – TEL. 971.313612 – WWW.PACHA.COM
PRIVILEGE on the road Ibiza-San Antonio is, according to the guinness book, the ‘biggest’ club in the world, last year Supermartxé brkoe the record and filled it up with more than 10.000 clubbers at once, so you can imagine what it is like – well not! You have to go there and see it yourself, the different nights offer a different view on the club, some promoters decide to divide the massive space into different areas, others prefer the sheer size to be used as one. And with the Coco Loco as the small but oh so powerful club inside you can choose very well what you prefer. You can even go up to differtent levels of terraces to enjoy the view from above, all together a unique experience. CTRA. ES PARADIS in San Antonio is like diving into another world, massive columns and round terraces give it alomst a roman touch, and with parties like the Fiesta del Agua with about 80.000 litres of water drowning the floor into a massive pool you can imagine 50
SPACE is celebrating their 20 years aniversary this year, they marked history being best club worldwide for many years, and are still amongast the best ever.

WHAT THE HELL? INTERVIEW WITH DJ HELL TEXT: HOFER66 // PHOTO: PHRANK
WHY THE NAME HELL? Well, this was asked already before as ‘what question do you not want to hear again... It is the same since 30 years, in almost every second interview... It is simply Helmut (Geier). Now i made maybe a wrong move in calling my new album ‘Teufelswerk’ (devil’s work). THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN MY NEXT QUESTION: WHY THIS NAME FOR THE ALBUM? Basically i am into german names and it fits perfectly in my whole Dj-Carreer, it fits perfect with my artist name, and it reflects the two sides of my life, the night and the day life. And it does not necessarily mean it comes out of hell... WELL, IT DOES COME OUT OF HELL :-) And i like the way non-Germans speak it as well :-) HOW MANY RECORDS DO YOU OWN? YOU ARE WELL-KNOWN FOR HAVING ONE OF THE BIGGEST COLLECTIONS SO FAR... To be honest i have no idea, i was a collector, and i was not collecting recods but labels, the whole output of labels, and it was > 3.2

all kind of styles, so at the end of the ‘90s i reached a point where I had nearly every single record that came out, there was nothing left... It was a real problem for me, everywhere i went, from Chicago to Japan, i went directly into the record shops and bought them off. The better question would be ‘how much money i spent on records’... THAT IS A GOOD ONE? Well, i think i could buy a house from all this money... A nice one, even in Ibiza. The thing is it became part of my knowledge, i mixed all kinds of styles because i had the records, that was before everything was available to everybody via internet. HERE WE GO, HOW DO YOU SEE ALL THIS NEW DEVELOPMENT, GOING ALL DIGITAL AND PEOPLE BUYING TRAX FROM THE NET? If all this would have happened 30 years ago i would have saved a lot of money.. I am not a guy who fights against it, you know. For me the CD is still a very good medium for Albums, i still keep buying Cds, buy the whole stuff and then listzen at home to it and choose the trax i like to play. and i for sure will like that the people buy my new album as well, not just a few trax of it. We are in the middle of the biggest revolution the music scene is going through, and nobody can know what will be in five year’s time because all is going so fast now. The major companies are in trouble now because they loose their influence. I even heard of some stories from Italy where you have to have the original at home when you play an mp3 in the clubs and a kind of nightlife police is going round checking the clubs – i mean how can you do that? WE SAW A PICTURE OF YOU NEXT TO A LADY DRESSED IN FETISH CLOTHING ON A PRESS RELEASE, ARE YOU INTO FETISH? Who is not? Aren’t you? I guess almost everybody is into fetish, who does not like to dress in leather or latex? I guess it is more like most of the people do not want to talk about it and do it secretly or just dream of it... why not doing it?`I like a lot playing around with it, use it in images. With the girl on the picture i work very closely now, i am doing her bookings for her shows, becoming almost her manager. This whole scene is very close to ours, it’s the same music, so why not join? They are not just into gothic and that kind of stuff, in Berlin we have a club called Kit Kat Club, i played their 15-years anniversary and i will never forget the night... IS MUSIC THE ONLY DRUG? There is a lot of drugs going around, but music is the language of a higher communication, that is how i understand music. a lot of people might use them in the studio to produce their music, i never did so, i need to be clear while doing it – if i smoke something i get tired, and with any other stuff i can not concentrate on what i want to do because i get so excited. And the same happens when i play somewhere, my drug is Fanta Lemon :-) YOU ARE ACTUALLY KNOWN OF NOT DOING ANY OF THIS... People think i am a freak because i don’t do it! But honestly, for me it is perfect, when i come home i go sleep, swimming, go on my bycicle, i love doing that... IS THERE ANY GENRE YOU DID NOT TOUICH IN YOUR PRODUCTIONS? It is true, i was looking for a new style and i found something, you will not believe it – it is german schlager music from the 60’s and 70’s. 58
(BIG LAUGHTER EVERYWHERE, AS WE SIT IN SPACE IN A BACK OFFICE...) I GUESS WE HAVE TO EXPLAIN THIS TO OUR READERS... It is a kind of Chanson but very commercial, a whole orchestra playing and singing german lyrics, outstandng music. This guy Frank Farian who was also the producer of Boney M. did as well Milly Vanilly, or there was an act called Eruption, it was kind of Disco music, so i will try to update it a little bit. There is thousands of songs and until now nobody touched it... HELL IN 20 YEARS? Still playing music, train my kids in doing it and becoming their manager, but as well going on producing if am not deaf by then. But honestly, Djing is the thing i most enjoy in my life so why not going on doing it? For sure everybody says that but it means that we really love what we do, so for the next 20 years i see nothing else coming... It is mainly about keeping you in shape, and as i do not do any kind of doping i guess i got a good chance! If Space is still there i will still be coming back :-) WHEN WAS YOUR FIRST APPEARANCE IN IBIZA? It was in the early 90s, i had trouble to get in the clubs as some friends and me could not find a ticket and had no money, so we went to the port and found a bar where we got some tickets... When we got in the clubs i found that it was not really my music but in the last few years it changed a lot. My first gig in Ibiza was in the early 90s together with Green Velvet and Jeff Mills in Space, and they had a dancer dressed up in indian style, he danced so crazy i was fascinated by his way of moving and i never saw it again... DUB: COMPARED TO THIS, HOW DO YOU SEE IBIZA TODAY? Honestly i can not say a lot, i just came from the airport and went directly into Space, from what i saw it is a bit more quiet but it’s still early in the season - and coming here to Space is always fantastic, i love to work with the people from We love..., they take really good care of us all :-) HELMUT, THANKS FOR YOUR WORDS AND LET’S GO AND CHECK OUT THE MUSIC. Thanx to you guys, hope you enjoy the show :-)

A quién no? A tí no?

HELMUT, GRACIAS POR TUS PALABRAS, VAMOS DENTRO A VER QUÉ TAL LA MÚSICA. Gracias a vosotros, espero que os guste el show! :-)

Extrema organizes electronic dance parties since 1992 being one of the first promoters of this movement. Extrema started very small in Holland as a memberclub for extravagant people, but in the meantime more and more people wanted to be part of this special Extrema vibe. In 1998 and 1999 they did parties at Pacha and El Divino during the whole summer and created one of the first daytime dance festivals in Holland. At present Extrema Outdoor Dance unites 50.000 people with the best djs in the world like Erick Morrillo, Roger Sanchez, Swedish House Mafia, Dave Clarke, Deep Dish, Ron Caroll, Wally Lopez, Rene Amesz and many many more. Apart from that Extrema organizes a lot of other dance festivals with a different concept. One of the most populair is Solar Weekend festival, also held in Holland. Dance, pop and art are combinded during the whole weekend where people stay in camps. Extrema does not have the intention to do a whole summer in Ibiza anymore, but every year they are searching for a special location to do an exclusive Extrema Party. This year Extrema collaborates with the Ushuaia Beach Club for an amazing dance party on the beach. The party will take place at the second week of september with great artists and beautiful decoration. Besides the local people also the good dutch crowd will be invited. Apart from that Extrema helps other promoters with their 17 years expierence in production, decoration, ticketing, food and bookingsThe Extrema network nowaday contains 35 people, all with the heart on the right place to give the poeople a good time. If you once visited an Extrema party you will feel the love and vibe that everybody puts inside. Marcel Mingers is the creator of Extrema and is full in charge since 17 years. Why? Because he love it. Today Extrema counts on a community of 150.000 people every year.

LONG PLAYERS SELECTED BY HOFER66
72
DJT / THE INNER JUKEBOX
HOLGER ZILSKE / HOLZ
MANUEL TUR / 0201
Thomas Koch aka DJT presents his letest longplayer alongside with fellow Thomas Schumacher. The LP is being billed as a ‘90s influenced exploration into the sphere of classic house music. Their intention is clearly to conquer the dancefloors, melting influences from all genres into addictive beats.
Holger is known as the man behind smash tv, providing finest deep productions dedicated to all lovers of dancing. sweet percussions meet hypnotic melodies, rich rhymes melt in your brain, not in your hand. a perfect longplayer to tune into a long summer’s night.
Manuel Tur has produced an album full of downtempo and abstract cuts sitting alongside broken beat-infused deep house and filtered French disco. He was collecting samples for a period of almost ten years, always in mind that he could use them one day for his productions, out comes a surprisingly fresh longplayer.
TERRY LEE BROWN JUNIOR / SELECTED RMXS P.3
PRINS THOMAS / LIVE AT ROBERT JOHNSON
BAHRAMJI + MASTI / SUFIYAN
terry is well-known for his ability to turn whatever track into his very special version, he simply takes them to another level. my fave is guy borattos ‘its majik’, terry creates a deep soulful atmo with the machinery vocal coming from the original. a perfect tool for all soulful djs.
now this is an authentic part of mix art, loaded with almost 30 trax covering the full spectrum of electronic music. you can hear scratches, tempochanges, mixmistakes, all ingredients that make it a real collector’s item and a proof how alive real mixing can be. a must-have.
Working with Danish producer and DJ Mashti, this album is a special combination between the ancient and traditional, connecting it with the modern and technical. If asked, Bahram says about the origin of his music: “It is simply spontaneous and comes from the heart, it develops out of the moment.

GREGOR TRESHER / THE LIFE WIRE
VARIOUS / BLACKSHEEP TRIBE
THE ISLANDERS / MY OTHER VOICE
gregor tresher has managed to evolve - “the life wire” is an artist album on which he doesn’t renounce his origins of being a dj at heart but at the same time once more showcases his sensational songwriting and production. fast forward melts with deep tech, uptempo meets downtempo influences.
m.o.c. paoli provides this most elegant longplayer from the bambuddha in ibiza. trax from mo horizons, pluto project, riccicomoto, immaculate or he himself make this cd a perfect collector’s item to take back a piece of ibiza at home, dreaming from our paradise wherever you are.
short records at its best, this cd is currently only available in ibiza but soon in other countries. downtempo-based trax full of ibizan spirit, bringing you our special vibe directly to your heart and soul, ready to make you feel like you are somewhere on our beautiful island...
ROBERT OWENS / NIGHTTIME STORIES
VARIOUS / COMPOST DREIHUNDERT
VARIOUS / SUCK MY DECK
robert’s latest musical offering is an incredibly cohesive collection of collaborations with some of contemporary music’s biggest names. producers like wahoo, jimpster, atjazz, charles webster, simbad, marc romboy and ian pooley all provide their talents, combined with his incredible voice.
house, downtempo and jazzy elements melt in your ear to a fusion that is very hard to resist, trax from alif tree, beanfield, muallem or the above mentioned robert owens provide a real trip into music, leaving you drowned in a melange of sound ready to conquer your heart.
bugged out presents suck my deck mixed by brodinski. sounds weird? well, it is. a masterpiece combining dark, bouncy, percussive and transcendent elements of eletronic music, creating the urge to listen to him live on the decks wherever he is. and i advise you that you definitely should...
SUBSONIC PARK / ECHOES FROM INSIDE
HIDEYO BLACKMOON / BLACKMOON
KAY D’ORSAY / LOVE SOUND OF DISCORDER
alex azary and gabriel le mar are the two minds behind subsonic park, and the combination of two masters can only lead to a magnificent result. dub tech, tech house, deep tech, all very high class trax with only one aim: to make you move. but don’t end it there, they take it to another level.
hideyo is THE undergroundstar from tokyo, finding her way into the cases of many different djs melting together deep beats with trance influences, ambiental melodies and a right feleling for the sounds thatz conquer your heart. this is a real collectors item brought to us by ibizarre records – big respect.
it is not an official cd but i have to review it. we just met in ibiza and christian is a real gourmet when it comes to fusioning what seems to be difficult to fuse - count basie vs. booka shade, steve hillage vs. elektrochemie, the beatles vs. trentemøller. curious? try to find it :-) > > 3.2

ELEA / STELLAR CONNECTION
VARIOUS / LE CAFÉ ABSTRAIT VOL6
HESS IS MORE / HITS
a true trip to space enriched with organic atmospheric sounds. elea and swann put up the speed a little bit, this latest album is quite more punchy, bringing their live-shows to another level and feeding the psy-family with ever more beats while not forgetting the wsweetness that makes the difference.
raphael marionneau is the man behind this series, prividing finest ambiental chillout trax powered by rare beats from the like of steen tothrup, ralf hildenbeutel, aisen, winona and a lot more. a double cd full of emotions, a musthave for followers of this series and ideal gift for newcomers.
The greatest “Hits” is a collection of the strongest songs so far from multi-talent Mikkel Hess aka Hess Is More - a special collection for fans already and a selected introduction to new audiences. Since the debut in 2005 Hess Is More have released 5 albums on Music for Dreams.
KIKUMOTO ALLSTARS / HOUSE MUSIC
RAZOOF / HIGH TIDE/LOW TIDE
SABO & ZEB / GLOBAL WARMBEATS
kikumoto allstars holds a candle to the original house music with screaming acid basslines and melodic moments that made this pioneering dance music so great. although intentionally retro, his music is informed by today’s dance with innovative arrangements and twisted, peaking crescendos.
german cologne-based drummer razoof got inspired to this album whilst staying on our beautiful neghbour island formentera. chillout – soul – jazz – dub – reggae, all those styles are blended into a balearic soundscape that is hard to resist. a perfect collectors item for all formentera freaks.
afro-influenced global warmbeats melt into an irresistible mixture of sounds being collected from all over the globe. The album provides a pleasing mish-mash fashion alternating from gypsy funk to chilled-out dub to energetic Brazilian numbers to funky breakbeats.
DUNKELBUNT / SUN DUB
VARIOUS / TUNDRA AND SUNFLAKES
VARIOUS / BALEARIC BISCUITS VOL.3
hamburg’s ulf lindemann aka dunkelbunt provides a melange of Swing, Charleston, Dub, Reggae and Dancehall. sounds weird? you bet it is. this is a cd that is nothing for the faint-hearted, you have to really dive deep into it and let the rhymes take you on a trip to the world.
nobody less than alex paterson aka the orb mixed this absolutely outstanding longplayer consisting of rare trax by himself, vin100, nina walsh and lots more. if you are a fan of orb this longplayer is definitely a must for you, and those who just heard about it should definitely go and get it. a must!
once more kenneth bager, delivering the already third edition of his understanding of balearic pastries, the balearic biscuits. highly addictive trax from the like of bliss feat. boy george’s american heart in a rmx from the revenge, fagget fairies’ oci or jack peñate’s tonight’s today will make you smiiiile :-)

SHORT PLAYERS SELECTED BY HOFER66
ARIAN / DADAP DADAP
RYAN CROSSON / DON’T LOOK FURTHER
local heroe arian finally has his own release on cocoon recordings, after being already resident for them since a few years. a tricky floorkiller that drills into your mind, enriched with schizophrenic sounds á la arian. comes with a mix by rickzor which is more straight to the floor, both together are perfect tools for a skilled dj.
very hypnotic, twisted repetitive melodies meet broken beats, underlined by a very deep bassline and a 4/4 kick, out comes a track that could last a lot more than its 06:35 min. best played on a beach just before sunset or a nice club in a family atmo. an absolute must-have for all skilled djs around the globe, believe me.
PAUL LOMAX / AVIATOR
TWO ARMADILLOS / HAMLIN/SASHA DIVE RMX
deep flight rec is a berlin-based label founded by mr. lomax himself, and aviator is the first release. a classic flyer somewhere between deep house, deep tech and oldskool trance. deep flight is a label that should be watched if u are into the music i just mentioned. more please :-)
a warm-up killer par excellence, african roots meet minimal meet deep house, flirting with a bit of oldskool trance melodies, a fusion that can only come from a hand like sasha. and the vocal seems to come from a completely stoned soul, fitting perfectly into the track’s alma.
ELVIS / FEVER/NOZE REMIX
FEYGIN / BUDVA
noze is the man when it comes to high class remixes of all-time-classics, he has the rare talent to keep the originals vibe whilst multiplying it. wherever i play this track people come running asking for the artist. best played to start or end a session, as last track you will have the biggest smiles on your side.
diynamic and no end... this label has made its way into the olymp of contemporary house music and the track from feygin is another masterpiece. my fave is the slumdop rmx, most cool vocals meet a hypnotic melody, underlined by phat beats, out comes a vocal house tune tailored for sexy groovy set-ups. if u don’t dance to this you should see a doctor...
BOMB THE BASS / BLACK RIVER/GUY BORATTO RMX
JAXSON + KENO / TOUT LE TEMPS
who does not know the original, the voice of mark lanegan is legend, and so is the remix from guy boratto, legend himself. the track is from last year but i got hold of it just a month ago, and i strongly advise you to get it :-) a new remix is the maps rmx, a bit cooler and more straight, but with the license to kill.
it is one of those trax that are so unique that you hear them over and over again on repeat, and all of a sudden you realize that you are hooked. a kind of french touch with claps and bips, a spanish killer vocal, deep beats and some sax samples, out comes a legend that will conquer the dancefloor in lightspeed, whatever beat you are into.
ALLENDES + VENEGAS / ESPIRITU
DIFFERENT GEAR / ONE THING LESS/MORE
the original is a nice track for all trance-influeneced techno-lovers, but the real killer is the delano remix, adding an atmo that is hard to resist. perfect for balearic dancefloors, the crowd will be on your side if you play it in the right moment, just before peak-time and the pitch on +2.
imagine you drive the new lamborghini reventon on full speed somewhere through the outskirts of las vegas, ‘one thing less’ would be the perfect track for the fast lane. the other one, ‘one thing more’, is quite different, a killer vocal telling u that we are serial seducers, and this is what this track is about.
CHARLIE + PETER / BRAKE/LUCA ALBANO RMX
DJ DAW / TRISTE SOLEDAD
african beats meet strong bassline, twisted vocals swing around hypnotic strings and a repetitive melody – ready is a perfect cocktail for a groovy crowd. very fashion but as well different, as it is not just combining an african drum with some beats but an intelligent mix. go get it.
daw is a producer from brazil that provides high quality by nature. he presents his latest work, triste soledad, but the name is not really what it is about, it is a deep house tune at its finest, moving you without pushing, drilling into your neurones beat by beat. >

H.O.S.H. / BETTER + SWEET
BEARWEASEL / SUPERHERO
once more diynamic... h.o.s.h. is one of their strongest acts and with this release he proves once more why he is :-) a very strange vocal sounding like a mechanic vocoder, twisted beats meet strange melody, out comes a formula hard to resist. the audiofly rmx is my fave, more punchy, more groovy, straight to the floor.
superheroes still exist, at least in electronic music. louisa page and dean mushel proves once more their outstanding position in sophisticated house music. highly addictive, most hypnotic, you are strongly advised to dive into this track with a clear mind, danger to get hooked is always present, at any time.
UNER + COYU / BABY ALL FUNK
GAVIN HERLIHY / COLLECT
name is program, it is all about coolest funky beats dancing around a strong bassline, made to make you move that booty. great stuff is a label that has an extreme high output without ever loosing quality. not all are my taste, but all are definitely outstanding.
gavin is definitely on his peak up to now, this tune has all ingredients to stay in djs cases forever. most simple but even more effective melody opens your soul to be conquered by a perfect beat, out comes a seductive invasion of body, mind and soul. one of my top ten those days, no doubt. at all. no way, josé!
MODERAT / RUSTY NAILS/BOOKA SHADE RMX
JORGE SAVORETTI / YOU TASTE BETTER THAN DANGER
each one of the producers themselves is killer, the combination needs a license to kill. arno + walter have the talent to always create a new track maintaining the original’s look and feel, adding their special ingredient to make an eternal track. difficult to play but if you are into moving the crowd you have to try. respect!
name is program, jorge seems to keep a secret recipe to eternal dance. building up fast, riding a hypnotic wave without changing the trax’ mood in any way, making you cry for more. best played somewhere before peaktime, allowing you to (ab)use the crowd’s urge to dance for how long you want, they are hooked to the needle...
ANDRADE / DAY OF DEFEAT
BOY 8-BIT / BALTIC PINE
if i would have to choose one track to start a solid warm-up i would definitely consider this one. starts slowly, builds up so subliminal that you find yourself shaking to it wanting or not. vocal bits meet hypnotic melody, deepest bassline marries classic claps + piano, out comes the ticket to paradise.
an essential track, not just voted by pete tong but as well by me, drilling into your neurones in the most funny but also serious way. one of those that makes you ask how comes that i did not have the idea to this melody? perfect for small and big floors, all times, only depending on the bpm. big time, fasten seatbelts and enjoy...
COYU + IMBERNON / EL BAILE ALEMAN
TIEFSCHWARZ F. SETH TROXLER / TRUST
i am not sure if they know about how the german’s dance, but their version is definitely outstanding. the vocal is so fucked up that you will remember it wherever you cross this track, and the crowd will dance from the very first to the very last moment. definitely a must-have.
ali + basti join with seth, out comes a killer. you are strongly advised to not listen to this track if u r somehow schizo or hooked on papers, if so you could seriously damage your last braincells. most groovy, tribalik, fucked vocals marry repetitive melodies, sirenes drill your imagination. wousa...
DOP / BLANCHE NEIGE
GUSGUS / ADD THIS SONG RMXS
one of those drilling machines that find the way into your neurones, you can run but you can’t hide :-) warm-up, after hour, spohisticated beach set, warm atmos and sexy people will always fall for this tune. satisfaction guaranteed, the only problem is it ends too fast – maybe just press repeat... and repeat... and repeat .-)
the patrik chardronnet mix, keeping the vocal but taking it to another level, driving you mad while listening to the voice, and the gluteus maximus mix, being more groovy and somehow more friendly, make you move without being anyhow dominant. lopazz+zarook end the session with a groove-killer par excellence.
MIGUEL TORO / SISTERRAY
MISTRESS BARBARA / DANCEMETOTHEENDOFLOVE/H.O.S.H.
phat kick meets strong bassline, lots of claps and hooks, melodies from anywhere, and a twisted vocal, this is miguel’s recipe to dance – and it works perfectly, one of those tools to keep the crowd on the edge to extasy without being too offensive.
leonard cohen is one of those artists you should not touch, mistress barbara tried it and failed, but what h.o.s.h. makes out of it is legend. one of my top five!! deepest house, heartbreaking melody, lyrics to die for and a vibe so beautiful it makes you shiver. deepest respect. yes, leonard :-)
PLASMIK / NIGHT BELL
SONICURE / UNGELOGEN
repetitititive is the best description for this tune, hypnotic melody underlined by a solid bassment, ready to conquer your hips in a very polite way. if this is the bell to announce a night than i would definitely like to be the ringer to start a most groovy session that lasts forever.
next strike from the ‘cure of sound’, once more three trax that will find their way into your set, like it or not. best played to heat it up, cool it down or on any afterhour you like to put a smile on people’s face and an extra to their endless urge to dance.
