atching up with old favorites is always fun to do. For this Issue, we caught up with the guys over at Florida-based Ultimate Auto to see how the famed shop was doing since we last featured their widebody Shelby ‘Stang a few years ago. As expected, they’re better than ever and were actually able to expand their business to a new and larger facility, allowing them more room and man power to continue exceeding the expectations of their customers. Plus, they’re showing off some stunning custom exotic beauties in the form of a Ferrari 488 Spyder and Lamborghini Huracan! It’s been a minute since we touched base with UFC star Cain Velasquez, and he’s had quite the life change, overcoming injury and preparing for a return to the Octagon. As he gets closer to his return, he’s also currently helping his teammate Daniel Cormier for his upcoming UFC title fight and enjoying thrills outside the Octagon in his custom Slingshot and two Porsches!

Although we enjoy checking in on past favorites, it’s always nice to showcase a few new faces in the magazine like the impressive Tanner Fox, who is an Amazon guru and avid car enthusiast. Then there’s Louie Villa of Bagger Kings, Inc. and his serious 2014 Harley-Davidson Road King that commands attention wherever it goes. Ryan Evans from Count’s Kustoms is currently filming for History Channel’s Counting Cars, but took some time to talk about the killer Coupe de Ville he laced up and topped off with Rockford Fosgate goodness! We’ve packed this issue with a variety of custom rides to whet your appetite and inspire you to create your own build. Thanks again for picking up the magazine and flipping through the pages.

uinton Rampage Jackson is more than an MMA fighter; he’s a larger-than-life character with the personality to entertain the masses. He’s also a custom car fan and has been featured in the magazine and on “The DUB Magazine Project” in the past. His first appearance was in Issue 44 in June of 2007. MMA and the UFC were barely becoming popular and Rampage was one of the main faces of the organization. At the time, Rampage was flexing a 2007 Lexus GS 350 on Vellano Forged VSE wheels and a 2007 Lexus GX470 riding on Asanti AF127 wheels. And his “baby” is the Ford Expedition on Tezzen spinner wheels when he stated “ain’t never gonna get rid of that one.”

BMW WIRELESS CHARGING STATION BMW is changing the game for electric cars and charging with their new innovative Wireless Charging Station, which is like a huge Qi-like pad for their 530e iPerformance sedan. It features an inductive charging station that BMW is calling a GroundPad, with another CarPad that attaches to the bottom of the sedan. It features a charging power of 3.2kW and it takes about 3.5 hours to completely charge. Users will also receive special software that will appear on a display to make sure that everything runs smoothly when charging.

THE MERCEDES-BENZ CONCEPT EQA TO RIVAL TESLA Mercedes-Benz has its eye on the EV market and hopes to rival Tesla’s Model 3 with its EQA Concept. As the EV version of their A-Class subcompact sedan, Mercedes-Benz hasn’t dropped much information yet, but did release a video that showcases the hatchback wearing blue LED stripes along its sides and back, along with an LED nose panel. No other news has been given on the new concept, except that they’re scheduled to launch the EQC, an electric compact crossover, sometime next year. There’s also the EQS, which is an S-Class variant, scheduled to hit the production lines soon. There’s supposed to be 10 EQ entries by 2022, and all will have body styling distinct from existing vehicles in their segments. But those 10 EQs are actually part of 50 electric vehicles planned by 2022, including fuel cell vehicles, plug-in hybrids and some with 48volt electrical systems. 28

he name Count’s Kustoms might ring a bell if you’re a fan of History Channel’s “Counting Cars.” Now in its seventh season, the show follows Danny “The Count” Koker and his crew as they search for and restore classic rides. Specializing in hot rods, classics and street kustoms. One of the show’s vibrant personalities - Ryan Evans, head painter and airbrush specialist (as well as right-hand man to Danny) - has a particular fascination with “kustom Cadillacs” he describes, taking on a personal project for his Caddy Coupe de Ville. “To me, they show a more seasoned side of kustom design and styling. The down side for me has always been the time and money that goes into building a kustom Cadillac. After building and customizing several Cadillacs of all years, I felt that a 1969 de Ville was the most economic year and model for me to build and still fit the picture I have in my mind of a true kustom Cadillac.”

AFTER BUILDING AND CUSTOMIZING SEVERAL CADILLACS OF ALL YEARS, I FELT THAT A 1969 DEVILLE WAS THE MOST ECONOMIC YEAR AND MODEL FOR ME TO BUILD AND STILL FIT THE PICTURE I HAVE IN MY MIND OF A TRUE KUSTOM CADILLAC.

Once Ryan found the right base to begin, the hard part was figuring out if it would be a wild “custom” or tamed ride that he could roll in everyday. He eventually chose the latter and soon realized the extent of work his mild custom would ultimately need. “The 472 big block had to be rebuilt along with the transmission. All the suspension needed to be replaced and have Airide air bags installed.” Before he was able to really work his magic, he need to ensure it was roadworthy, which ended up taking quite a chunk of time. But once that was covered, it was time to strip the car - and that had its own set of problems and challenges! “It was hiding a ton of rust in the rockers, doors and fenders and, fortunately, I was able to find a junk Caddy for doors and fenders and cut out all the remaining rust left on the car. Then, I wanted to clean up the canvas for the paint job by having Jesus, Carlos and Benji Marquez [some of his co-stars and co-workers] shave all the handles, marker lights, moldings and badges and get it ready for paint.” He welded and shaved the threepiece rear bumper to clean it up and save on chrome. “Originally what I had in mind for the paint was a combination of satin and gloss clear because I’ve never been known to keep a car clean, but at this point so much work had been done to get the car ready that I couldn’t skip out on the paint.” MAGAZINE 2018

Since Ryan’s specialty is paint, he tackled the task using Matrix products starting in a silver base with silver mini flakes then spraying Kandy Gold over the entire Caddy. From there, he laid out gold pearl white scallops outlined in gold leaf before pinstriping the graphics and buried it in a Matrix clear finish. “I was really happy with the drivability, look and stance of the car. But the interior just didn’t fit the look. I had Angel in the shop re-cover the seats and door panels in a durable black Zodiac that could take the abuse from a guy who works in a paint shop.” To complete the transformation on the de Ville, Ryan wanted a Rockford Fosgate system, given their reputation in the industry for solid high-end audio solutions for custom cars. “I was really impressed by the quality and look of their equipment so it was an easy choice to use them for the stereo system. I had the famous Ghetto Bob build a clean, loud but still usable trunk setup for the Cadillac that really is the hidden jewel of the car.” After eight long months, the Coupe de Ville was finally complete and all the long hours and hard work paid off in Ryan’s eyes. “This thing makes me feel like the kool kid on the block!”

here is an old adage that comes from boxing that goes, “A great big man will always beat a great little man.” In MMA, too many fighters take this saying to absurd lengths, cutting enormous amounts of weight for weighins and then gaining it all back to fight the following evening. This practice has become more and more extreme in the sport these days, with fighters risking their future health and, sometimes, not even making the weight they were obligated to. But in doing this, many fighters have proven that old adage true time and time again, with the bigger man on fight night almost always ending up beating the smaller man. But there is an exception to every rule, and, in this case, that exception is named Cain Velasquez. By no means “little,” the 6’1”, 240-lb. former UFC Heavyweight Champion has nevertheless been outweighed by opponents by 20, 30, sometimes even 40 lbs., as he was the night he defeated WWE icon and then-UFC Champion, Brock Lesnar.

After over a decade in the fight game, the former champ is now considered among the greatest heavyweights in the history of MMA. But it has not always been smooth sailing en route to his exceptional 14-2 record with 12 KOs/TKOs. Cain has had to deal with his share of obstacles throughout his career - the most daunting being the various injuries that have kept him out of his beloved sport since his knockout victory over Travis Browne at UFC 200 in the Summer of 2016. But while he takes the time to retrain his body for the rigors of battle, he also keeps his mind centered, enjoying the opportunity to spend time with his wife, Michelle; daughter, Coral; and his baby boy, Cain, Jr., who was born last November. He also he uses his recovery time to pursue his automotive passions, whether it is making necks snap while cruising in his 2018 Polaris Slingshot or tracking one of his Porsches. In the fight game, Cain is far from the type of fighter who tries to garner Conor McGregorstyle attention by talking loudly and behaving outrageously. On the road, though, Cain doesn’t mind a few jaws dropping as he drives by in his Polaris. Cain’s Slingshot is anything but subtle, sporting a giant carbon fiber rear wing and bronze Savini wheels. “It looks futuristic, like the Batmobile. People are always taking pictures of it on the freeway. And it’s great if you want to feel the outdoors and enjoy the scenery, but still be comfortable.”

“But it’s not all about flash,” Cain adds. “I look for cars that perform and are reliable.” Cain appreciates how incredibly the Slingshot performs not because of pure horsepower, but because of its exceptional power-toweight ratio, weighing just over 1,700 lbs. and having 200 hp to propel its single rear wheel. It is a vehicle that mirrors Cain’s own style of fighting, hitting the apex of a turn with the same precision Cain maneuvers an opponent into one of his low kicks or doubleleg takedowns. He often jumps in the Polaris (literally, since it has no doors) when he heads to San Jose’s American Kickboxing Academy to sharpen his skills with elite fighters, such as UFC Champions Daniel Cormier and Khabib Nurmagomedov. “I live in Gilroy. It’s about 20 minutes away from San Jose. There’s a lot of canyon-style back roads that you can just get lost on and make a day of it.” One thing Cain has yet to do is throw the Slingshot around a track, something he plans to do in the near future. However, he has tracked two of his other cars: a Sepia Brown 1973 Porsche 911 and the white 2017 Porsche Macan GTS that his wife usually drives. A regular at the track, he likes to push his cars and his skills to their limits. “I’ve been doing the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Challenge for the past couple years. I brought my Macan out on the track there. It’s my wife’s car,” Cain laughs, “But I didn’t wreck it, so I’m all good.”

Although his wife daily drives it, Cain loves taking out his Macan on drives and wants to put a more aggressive exhaust on it in the future. “There’s a lot of racing heritage behind it and they’re very meticulous about how they make [their cars],” Cain says about his Porsche. This made it a no-brainer when he decided on a classic 1973 Porsche 911 as his dedicated track car. Cain has been slowly building it up over the past few years. “It’s real fun to drive. Its original color is Sepia Brown. It has a 2.7-liter air-cooled engine. It’s still a little rough, so I just go out and have fun with it. Maybe next time, it’ll be ready for the magazine.” Other than spending as much time as possible with his family and enjoying his cars, Cain is preparing his good friend and training partner, Daniel Cormier, for a much-anticipated fight against current UFC Heavyweight Champ Stipe Miocic and also getting ready for his own return to action. “Right now, my main thing is to get [Cormier] ready for his fight in July. When we train together, I get better, and he does too. He’s one of the best in the game. It’s been amazing having him there.” Now, some fighters who have achieved a fraction of what Cain has obtained would call it a career and move on at this point, but even after all these years at the highest levels of the sport, Cain still feels he has something left to accomplish in MMA. Just as every basketball player chases the legacy of Michael Jordan, he chases the legacy of the one man whose legendary wars in PRIDE FC first inspired him to become a mixed-martial artist: Fedor.

Not yet satisfied with his own formidable legacy, Cain is inching ever closer to his return to MMA for another run at greatness. “I’m close. I’m pretty much there physically.” But what if, by the time Cain is ready to make his return, the man holding the heavyweight title is his own friend, wrestling coach, and teammate? Earlier this year, Cain cryptically tweeted, “Once he wins, things could get interesting.” UFC fans around the world will just have to wait and see how this next chapter of his career plays out.

hen you’re at the top of your game, the only thing you can do is evolve into a better version of yourself. Such was the case for Orlando-based luxury auto sales and customization shop Ultimate Auto. As a well known player in the customization scene, a glance at their Instagram page immediately showcases their talent and expertise. Their Widebody Shelby GT500 Super Snake was a reader favorite back in Issue 87 and now we’ve got a pair of stunning exotics for you to feast your eyes on. We touched base with CEO Joe Labon to discuss the shop’s latest projects and more.

How has Ultimate Auto evolved since last featuring your Widebody Shelby GT500 Super Snake? Since the feature of our custom widebody Shelby Super Snake, we’ve continued to evolve our customer experience and our build processes. We’ve evolved our team and our facility, now taking our biggest leap yet as we move into a new state-of-the-art 60,000 sq.-ft. facility, which doubles most of our current amount of workspace and production capabilities, climate controlled work stations, CNC machines, and also a brand new car storage facility where we will have the opportunity to maintain and show off some truly incredible vehicles on a regular basis.

Who commissioned the Ferrari and Lamborghini builds? Are they the same owner, and did they ask for anything in particular for the builds? These builds were commissioned by one of our closest friends and longest standing VIP’s of over 15 years. The client asked for nothing except the absolute best of myself and our build team. We worked for countless hours designing and building these cars that would not only be staples of his collection, he wanted two cars that rival both the appeal and the performance of factory cars, worth more than double their price. It’s something that was achieved not just by throwing a lot of money and parts at the two cars, but

by designing a combination of parts and implementing them in a combination unlike anything most have seen before. What was done to the Ferrari? The Ferrari is a 488 Spyder, which was ordered brand new, specifically for this build; specâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d and built by Ferrari with every option you could ever want for a build of this caliber. It features a bespoke red interior, which adds another dimension to the already incredible experience that this custom 488 brings. The exterior has been completely reimagined with the help of Novitec Group with their full carbon fiber N-Largo widebody kit. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s a kit that takes the MAGAZINE 2018

already gorgeous Italian styling - featured in this mid-engine twin turbo spyder - and turns it up to 1,000%. The car was then finished in a factory pure white pearl paint, which helps to bring out the incredible amount of detail that the Novitec kit brings. After, it was fitted and custom molded with quality and detail that surpasses both Novitec and Ferrari’s original expectations with this car. What also differentiates this particular N-Largo spyder - 1 of just 11 built worldwide - is the custom designed Alpha One Wheels that were designed and built specifically for this build. Where everyone else chooses to use the N-Largo wheels that come with the kit, we went above and beyond building custom 3-piece carbon fiber lipped wheels to really set our build apart from the rest. Along with the rest of the kit, Novitec Group also supplies a full exhaust and software tuning for the car, which brings a level of performance that matches the car’s incredible looks, and surpasses what anyone else thought was possible to extract from Ferrari’s mid range supercar.

To finish off the build, we added a Capristo clear glass engine cover to display the heart of the beast, which lights up red to highlight the gorgeous twin-turbo V8, which powers this prancing horse. So what was done with the Lamborghini? The Lamborghini was a great opportunity for us because it gave us the ability to keep building on the already well done N-Largo Huracan that we acquired from GMG Racing. We were able to not only put our own visual touches on it, but also completely transform the vehicleâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s performance with the addition of the VF Engineering Supercharger, an upgrade package which takes the already powerful 610 horsepower the stock Lamborghini V10 engine puts out and boosts it to 810 horsepower via a supercharger sitting on top of the motor. The car also features its own set of 3-piece carbon fiber lip Alpha One Wheels. Were they meant to match? The two builds were never meant to match, but after building the 488 and acquiring the Huracan from GMG Racing in California, we wanted to put our own touch on the Huracan so that when the two builds were seen together, they would complement each other in such a way that shows two very different approaches to the same formula. Two very different Italian machines both reimagined by Ultimate Auto and Novitec Group, which at the surface are similar, but when you take a closer look they accomplish very different things.

Do you have a favorite between the two? While the Huracan is an incredible build and one that could be a cover car all on it’s own, our heart belongs to the N-Largo 488 as we feel it’s an expression of not only the latest and greatest in the custom industry as far as the fit and finish the Novitec kit provides, but it’s also a true representation of what we at Ultimate Auto are capable of. It shows off not only our unrivaled attention to detail, but also our endless search for perfection in each of our builds. What’s so special about these exotics in your opinion? any car guys start out the same way. As teenagers, they fantasize about owning a 200-mph exotic, pouring over YouTube videos, pictures, and articles of their favorite supercar. They happen to catch a glimpse on the streets of the 500+ horsepower beast they’ve been obsessing over and think to themselves, “one day, that will be mine.” However, it is only a very select group that actually gets to live that dream. And it is an even more exclusive group that gets to live that dream by the age of 21. Tanner J. Fox is one of those chosen few, purchasing his 2016 Rosso Mars Metallic Red Lamborghini Huracan last March. Now, Tanner is the quintessential 21st century entrepreneur: an Amazon “guru” and YouTuber, who now offers online courses on how to accomplish what he was able to.

So your claim to fame is your success in the world of Amazon’s FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) service. Can you give a quick overview of how all that works? I started with selling on Amazon. A lot of people call me “The Amazon Guy.” I did that for like a year and half and then created a YouTube channel. I started teaching people what I did. That’s when it kind of blew up. How does that Amazon FBA service work? I found out what sells well on Amazon, found a supplier in China, ordered it in bulk, and I put my own LLC (brand) on it. Sent it to Amazon and got it ranked, and then Amazon fulfills it for me. They ship it out and do everything for a fee and I get paid. It’s called Private Labeling. Can you say what kinds of products do you sell on Amazon FBA or is that kind of a trade secret? Well, that’s the thing. People on Amazon usually don’t share what they sell because everyone else comes and jumps on it. You just have to find the right ones.

Your YouTube channel and online courses teach people how to sell things on Amazon FBA. Do you ever feel you’re creating your own competition? A little bit, but not really. Amazon is the biggest marketplace in the world. They’ve been around for years and they’re still growing. There’s always new products out there. If you know what you’re doing, you can jump on them before everyone else. Let’s talk about the Lambo. Out of all the cars you can afford now, how did you pick the Huracan? A Lamborghini has always been my dream car. I was always saying I was going to get one before I was 25. Originally I wanted a Gallardo because I never thought that I’d be able to afford a Huracan. 82

What are some of the things you like most about it? It’s everything I expected it to be. How fast it is, how it sounds, the attention it gets - I love it. It’s like a fighter jet in there. It has a seethrough engine cover. It has a lift system so I don’t scrape on everything. What mods did you have before you brought it in to Wrapworks? It was pretty much stock except for the Armytrix exhaust. It’s the best sounding exhaust I’ve ever heard; never heard a car sound so good. My favorite thing is the pops when it downshifts. And what did you get done up at Wrapworks to kick things up to the next level? The guys installed a full Vorsteiner body kit and wing, and gloss black Aristo wheels. They also wrapped it in blue chrome. Originally, I wanted it to be chrome green, but I got talked out of that. Chrome blue isn’t overly aggressive, but it still pops a lot! So what’s next for the Huracan after that? Just going to enjoy driving it…for now. Businesswise, where do you see yourself in the next year? I want to get into real estate pretty soon. And my YouTube channel is starting to grow pretty fast. I want to keep going with that. And then, I’ve just been teaching people a lot. I have courses online for it. I’ll go out and interview them on my channel and see how they’re doing. It’s really good to see.

ouie Villa of Bagger Kings, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ, has been into bagged customs since forever, stating it all started when he was a teenager growing up in an era where fixed-up rides cruised the boulevards and broke the necks of bystanders. Hailing from a family that idolized Lowrider cars only helped expand his fascination with such elaborate rides. “Back in 1987, I had my first official Lowrider build when I was 18,” he recalls. I was lucky enough to be featured in Lowrider Magazine with my 1984 Pontiac Trans-Am, which was named ‘One Tough T.A.’”

Since then, Louie has always fixed up his rides, whether it was his daily driver or trailer queen. He’s had a variety from custom street bikes to custom choppers and is now getting into the bagger-style Harley-Davidson motorcycles. “I was looking to get back into the Lowrider scene, and with my love for riding two wheels, I decided to customize my Harley-Davidson Road King. I call it AZ King and it’s my second bagger-style bike built by my company Bagger Kings Inc.” His vision and main goal was to see the first Road King mocked up with a 30” front wheel and everything had to be customized since no parts were available at that time. “In order to begin I had to entirely take the bike apart, raked the frame, make an entire new stretched body, mocked-up the wheel for an even ride, add air ride suspension, custom surround sound system, video projection, and everything else chromed. I literally started from the ground up,” he details.

With delicate intricacies involved and the custom parts that had to be made, it took Louie an entire year to complete the build. “AZ King is more than what I had in mind for this style of Harley. It has gotten around and has been seen everywhere and received tons of attention.” So far, the bike has been shown in Myrtle Beach, Daytona Beach, Sturgis, Rocky Point Mexico, all over California, Las Vegas, Laughlin, at DUB Shows and, of course, in his home state of Arizona. “The bike gets ridden whenever I can take it out, which is as much as possible. Many of my friends gather to do many charitable events, and I always try to go with them. You will see another Bagger King Inc. creation, but you’ll have to wait for the surprise!”

he Jeep Wrangler is the most storied 4x4 ride, built to tackle the trails, dirt, sand and just about any other terrain imaginable. But because it looks so good doing so, many road warriors find the Wrangler appealing despite zero intentions of taking it off-road. For these pavement pounders, the Wrangler is nothing more but a sporty machine that looks good on the way to work or for weekend trips. These “mall crawlers” are more than capable off-road, but prefer to transform the 4x4 into a stylish, yet rugged, vehicle for urban wheeling. The allure of the Jeep is universal and German tuner HOFELE has created their Urban Lifestyle package for the JK model that features a wide range of styling enhancements. While most tuners offer off-road specific modifications, HOFELE designed their kit for the urban jungle, adding more style and luxury to the 4x4. For them, they wanted a Jeep that didn’t just look good in the desert, but turned heads cruising the boulevards.

UP FRONT, the Wrangler is fitted with a sleek high-clearance front bumper that incorporates LED lighting and is coupled with their 10th Anniversary vented hood and wider wheel arches that give the Jeep a dynamic look. The front profile is further enhanced by the addition of a roof shield above the windshield thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s also fitted with high-mounted LED lighting. The LEDs combined with the bi-LED headlights and the LED running lights give the Jeep an impressive nighttime silhouette.

TO MAKE THE INSIDE look just as good as the outside, HOFELE made it a point to make sure to up the ante in terms of style, comfort and luxury, choosing only the best when it came to interior enhancements. Standard seating has been replaced with Nappa leather, with colors chosen by customers. The Monster Energy Lounge was the place to be to sample the latest Monster Flavors, meet the Monster Energy Calendar models and more! The LFTD&LVLD Truck & Jeep Showcase saw the hottest off-road customs around! The concert stage was banging with performances by YBN Nahmir, King Lil G, Lil Xan, Tayf3rd and MC Magic. This was one of the biggest Phoenix shows ever and we can’t wait to be back next year!

his year’s Charlotte Monster Energy DUB Show Fueled by Nitto tour stop was held on Saturday, May 5th and was one for the books! Some of the nation’s hottest cars, trucks, Jeeps, Lowriders, motorcycles and exotics filled every inch of the Park Expo Center. Charlotte’s most prominent car clubs represented with their various customs and exhibitors showcased the latest and greatest, so the show had something for everyone. The Monster Energy Lounge was packed all day with guests looking to sample the latest Monster flavors, BMX stunt team demos, fresh cuts from @junedabarber as well meeting the Monster Energy girls. Nitto Tire came out in full force with their display showcasing their latest tires on a variety of rides. Rim Shop of Charlotte, Tire & Wheel Exchange, TIS and Dropstars Wheels all showcased their latest and greatest wheels. The Ultimate Audio Booth brought along rides from some NFL superstars like Thomas Davis, Cliff Avril, Captain Munnerlyn, Mario Addison, Charles Johnson, Vernon Butler, and Shaq Thomson. The all-star concert featured live performances from some of the newest acts around! Performances included Yo Gotti, YBN Nahmir, Deniro Farrar, Dre P., Raheeme, and Ella & Kizzy.
