n this summer issue we have a few custom rides that have each taken different paths to achieve the same goal of building a purpose-built vehicle to the owner’s tastes. The first pair we have are high horse-powered pony cars that will for sure get the adrenaline pumping when you set your eyes on them! Tony Arme of American Legends Hotrods and Muscle Cars had an idea to create a different kind of 1968 Mustang 14 years ago. His creation took longer than anticipated, but the result was a unique build with an Italian heart and an all-american soul! When Lexani was in search of a vehicle to build, they went with something different than their usual luxury or exotic. They ended up with the limited edition 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon that became their blank canvas in creating their vision of the ultimate muscle car.

The second pair we are featuring are dieselpowered full-size trucks - also from Ford and Dodge. Seeing a full-size bagged dually on the road is something that we love to see, and so does veteran truck builder Dave Shulman. His Ford F-350 dually drives and sits low to the ground, perfect for cruising in the Florida rays. Fab Fours creates some of the most aggressive mods for trucks and Jeeps, and they’ve once again created another beast with their Crawler Hauler RAM 3500. Since Fab Fours’ owner and CEO Greg Higgs is an avid rock crawler, the RAM 3500 was purposely built to tow his buggy to offroading destinations all over the country. We’re in full force with the 2019 Monster Energy DUB Show Tour fueled by Nitto and have a busy season ahead of us! CLASS GULLWING Man, John Sarkisyan’s 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing is beyond amazing! That car is a true work of art. I saw the craftsmanship first hand at the SEMA Show and he definitely deserved to win that “Best of Show” presented by Amsoil award. The Gullwing is one of those collector cars that you can only admire from afar. It must have been a cool experience to bring a classic like that to life with all the modern amenities. ustomizing is one of those things that requires a person to have immense patience. If done in haste, the end result could end up being a disaster. When going into any build, both the owner and the customizer must not rush the process – even if the dreaded SEMA crunch is making everyone involved nervous and overwhelmed. Tony Arme of American Legends Hotrods and Muscle Cars had an idea to create a different kind of 1968 Mustang 14 years ago. With good intentions in mind and half of the work done, it just wasn’t coming out as he intended. Unsure as to what to do next, his ’Stang sat for about 10 years before he was able to unleash new life into the American muscle beast. “A lot of work was done about 12 years ago, including most of the sheet work and suspension,” he admits. “While the car sat for 10 years or so, lots of ideas came and went. It was finally decided that it was time to complete the car about a year ago.” Tony wanted something more than just a regular and typical engine swap and needed something wild to really stand out. He needed something that would draw people’s attention and give them something to talk about.

To jumpstart the new project he dubbed “Corruptt,” Tony sought to give it more power and transplanted a Ferrari F430 4.3L F136 engine to give the Ford some insane horsepower (an indiscretion by Ford purists, but many can’t deny the allure of a Ferrari powetrain). What was once a vision to simply build an elegant Mustang unlike any other had now evolved into a supercar-themed setup. But Tony and his crew were no strangers to such challenges given they’ve done a wide variety of powerful cars, including a 572-hp 1957 Chevy to a Pro Touring LS7-powered 1969 Camaro. To complement the boost in power, a Ferrari California modified intake manifold, Nelson Racing twin turbos and Fast Fuel injectors all work together to push out an estimated horsepower of 700. The RideTech Shockwave air ride suspension gives the classic the ability to comfortably handle the increased power while also sitting low as a Ferrari would. A slew of other mechanical modifications all come together to make this an old school with the heart of an exotic (quite literally). “The engine and associated components were actually sourced through eBay and the remaining ones were either built, 3D printed or CAD designed and CNC machined,” he details. Given there was no blueprint for a build of this caliber, Tony ran into a few snags, but made sure to persevere to get everything exactly how he wanted.

As for the aesthetics, the classic clean lines of the ‘Stang are still there, but just enhanced to resemble a modern supercar. Tony chopped off 2.5” from the roof, added a custom side-exit exhaust, bespoke acrylic bumpers, a carbon fiber floor pan and lot of 3D-printed parts to fill in the blanks for all the one-off bodywork. The chopped body rides on Avante Garde wheels wrapped in sticky Toyo Proxes R888R rubber, with 14” Wilwood brake kit tucked behind them to provide substantial stopping power.

Although it’s highly influenced by today’s supercars, Tony made sure that the entire build still embodied the original concept of the car. “We used today’s technology and then took details, fit and finish to the next level to achieve such a bold design,” he admits. A lot of the car’s mods are controlled using an iPad, achieving modern technology with nostalgic looks that combine the best of both worlds. The high-powered Mustang was the talk of the 2018 SEMA Show, where it was unveiled inside the Odyssey Battery booth

and it took home the DUB AMSOIL Award for “Best Performance Car.” “You never know how a vehicle like this will be received, and I think most people accepted it even though it was so far out in left field,” Tony reveals. “One of the coolest things for me was having people that followed the entire build on social media see the car in person and know about the work and detail that went into it.” Tony plans on continuing to show off his American muscle/exotic hybrid at shows and is looking forward to hitting up ½-mile events to show off that Ferrari power!

ou have to be careful when creating a marketing vehicle. It needs to be tasteful, but not too boring. It needs just the right amount of “wow” to really get people talking and heads turning at events, car shows and any other marketing event you attend. Lexani Motorcars is known not only for their flashy wheels, but also their skills at working

with high-end luxury and exotic vehicles. When it came down to choose something to showcase at SEMA, they decided to change it up a bit and wanted something “exclusive, but still relatable to a broader audience,” as mentioned by Carlos Parrott, VP of marketing and project director for Lexani. “The limited edition Demon was already on order and came along at the perfect time!”

Working with famed West Coast Customs, both crews collaborated on a rendering and stuck to it, which made the project as seamless as builds of this caliber go. Because they didn’t want to destroy the Dodge by cutting it up and doing a bunch of “corny” add ons to the exterior that would only decrease the value, Lexani was methodical with their approach to the modifications, only choosing what they deemed tasteful, yet bold. To make their vision come to life, they also enlisted TS Designs for a subtle, one-off widebody kit. It added an extra 2” to the rear with rocker panels. West Coast Customs added the bespoke red mirror Vivid vinyl jagged edge wrap that makes it stand out in a room filled with other show-worthy rides. The one-off rear carbon fiber APR wing and front splitter adds to the overall appeal of the Demon’s striking good looks.

Due to the fact the Demon wields over 800 horsepower, they didn’t need to tinker with anything under the hood. The stance had to be upgraded and they went with an AccuAir E Level system, in conjunction with Universal Air Suspension components, to help it sit low to the ground. To set it off, they went with one of their own new Venom LC three-piece wheels, going with 20x10s in the front and pushed it in the rear by going with 22x12s. The Lexani wheels are color-matched yellow with black accents and paired with Lexani 295/30R22 and 335/25R22 LX-Thirty series performance tires and accented with yellow tire branding by Tire Stickers. Inside, West Coast Customs added a custom yellow color matched six point roll cage and five point red harness seat belts from RPM Rollbars. They also fabricated a custombranded rear seat delete. The result was something the company could be proud showing off at any event! While it’s something purists might gawk at, Lexani still considers it still “somewhat conservative.” “We just like to keep it creative, fresh and fun,” Carlos admits. “Hopefully, we’ve been able to do that with this build from the response we’ve had so far. This car has had the most positive response that I’ve seen first hand. We get so many compliments from both the hardcore Mopar scene to the old shool hot rod guy. We even get great comments from the Euro scene!” So far, the Demon has been making appearances all over the car show circuit and will continue being shown off at events throughout the year.

ab Fours owner Gregg Higgs is an avid rock crawler, which is the perfect way to test out new products. Thanks to his passion for rock crawling and the recent release of their Open Fender System, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to combine those two aspects to create the company’s first-ever Crawler Hauler sitting on 40” tires with only a leveling kit. Desiring something that looks like a show queen, but performs like a tow beast, Greg went with a RAM HD, given he’s always been partial of them and a huge reason why Fab Fours always uses them for tow rigs. “They do a great job of combining pulling power, good looks and, in my opinion, an unmatched interior for style and comfort,” explains Kermit Baker, Fab Fours’ marketing manager.

The initial design process started out like many of their projects (and, boy, do they have lots!) – Greg sketches something on a napkin or piece of paper and then they turned to their friends at Southern Off-Road Specialist in Alpharetta, Georgia, to see if they could help turn the concept into reality. “Although the design did change slightly from the original drawing, they did not disappoint by creating this one-of-akind hauler!” Kermit admits. To accessorize the Crawler Hauler, Fab Fours created at list of preferred partners and all generously supported the build. Since it was going to be used to haul around toys, the main highlight is the custom hauler bed by Southern Off-Road Specialist that holds the weight of a fully built 3,000-lb. buggy, four full spare tires, two 5-gallon racing fuel containers, a Pro Eagle 2-ton Big Wheel Off-road Jack and an allweather outdoor sound system with Bluetooth. A custom Fab Fours rear bumper supports loading ramps, and their Open Fender system on the front provide it with a distinct look. Other Fab Fours goodies include their Vicowl and their own 24x12 FF521 wheels wrapped with 52

their 40x15.50R24 Kymera tires. A Hellwig Big Sway system with airbags give the Ram more control in towing and hauling. Baja Designs LP9 LED lights and rock lights light its way, while a FLO~PRO exhaust helps amp up power. Other mods include a Titan fuel tank and Warn Zeon 12,000 pound winch. The overall response to the Crawler Hauler has been positive, especially for those that see it in person. “In typical Fab Fours fashion, we have a few naysayers that wonder why we don’t just pull a trailer…but where is the fun in that,” Kermit laughs. “I absolutely love how this build turned out. Not only is it a show-stopper we wanted it to be, but it’s a fully functional rig that’s used almost daily.” It’s already been shown at multiple events across the nation and will be used by Greg for his rock crawling outings. “This build definitely holds its own as one of our best in terms of using a mixture of the best industry partners, Fab Fours products and custom fabrication.”

ave Shulman started in custom trucks at the tender age of 15 years old. In 1998, while living in Orlando, Florida, he founded the ever popular “AcrophobiA” truck/car club. His first build was a body-dropped F-150 named, “Catch 22.” The rig was eventually featured in several publications, and was showcased at the SEMA Show in 2002 and 2003. After another build in 2004, it was time for Dave to settle down and start a family. Finally, in 2017, Dave returned to the customized truck market with the purchase of a 2017 Ford F-350 dually.

“I bought the truck off the Internet from California in February of 2017, had it transported to Phat Phabz with 32 miles on it, and I never told my wife about it,” he confesses. “I wound up on a business trip to Oklahoma in September and convinced my wife that we should stop by and see the shop Phat Phabz, as I heard they were building a new Super Duty. My wife actually knew I wanted to build one and said I should have bought one. This was the perfect plan so that she wouldn’t get mad!” Little did Dave’s better half know that she was staring at their next SEMA feature! Precious Metal has received hundreds of hours in design, fabrication, and customization. For the long hauls, Dave will trailer it, but you will find Precious Metal being driven regularly throughout Florida and its neighboring states. he New York Auto Show is always a favorite in the automotive industry and each year weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve been lucky to bring the DUB Show Tour to all the action! For the 2019 Monster Energy DUB Show Tour fueled by Nitto, we touched down in the Big Apple on April 26th through the 28th at the Jacob Javits Center. The Monster Booth was lit with lines forming to take pics and get autographs with the Monster Energy Girls, including Alexa Charleton, Johana Gomez and Mayte Lopez. his year’s Charlotte Monster Energy DUB Show Fueled by Nitto tour stop was held on Saturday, May 4th and was one for the books! Some of the nation’s hottest cars, trucks, Jeeps, Lowriders, motorcycles and exotics filled every inch of the Park Expo Center. Exhibitors showcased the latest and greatest, while the city’s most prominent car clubs represented with their various customs. Thomas Davis Sr. partnered with Ultimate Audio to reveal his custom built Candy Red Chevy Chevelle in collaboration with his charity DefendingDreams.org! The allstar concert featured live performances from some of the newest acts around! Performances included Young Dolph, Taliban, Pistyle, Vain Davinchi, Jayway Sosa. @scorpienken Wow man yesterday was my first official car show. And I must say it was dope af. I wasn’t going in expecting to win anything but the experience itself was great. I might not have custom paint and giant wheels but the amount of love it received and people telling me “Man U actually did you truck right not to big not to small.” And to tell me mines was actually the nicest FX in the show was good enough. That’s what taking my time and my detail oriented ass gets me. I got my truck in October and happy about the transformation. It took 3 1/2months to find the perfect wheel. 2020 Harley-Davidson LiveWire HARLEY-DAVIDSON.COM Harley-Davidson has finally released their electric motorcycle, the LiveWire, and it’s their first break into the electric market. After this release, they plan on releasing an exciting portfolio of two-wheeled electric vehicles. According to Harley-Davidson, it will do 0-60mph in just under 3.5 seconds, delivering 100% of its rated torque the moment the throttle is twisted (and 100% of that torque is always available). The 2020 LiveWire is said to have an estimated range of 110 miles of urban road. It’s the first American electric motorcycle to feature H-D Connect, which is an app-controlled cellular connection that connects the bike to the rider. Riders can see the location of the vehicle, the nearest charging stations, range, tamper alerts and more. $29,799

Mopar Hellephant 426 Supercharged Crate Hemi Engine MOPAR.COM First introduced in 1964, the 426 HEMI was called the “Elephant” for its size and power. The new Mopar Hellephant is the latest generation HEMI and the first OEM crate engine to push out 1,000hp. It does this with large displacement and an upgraded supercharger that now features a high-efficiency rotor. Weight is kept low thanks to an all-aluminum block, while it also includes a water pump, front sump oil pan, flywheel, coil packs and fuel injectors. There’s also a Hellephant-specific Engine Kit that offers an easy plug-and-play ability for veteran mechanics to use in pre-1976 street and off-road vehicles. To show off the new engine, Mophar featured it in a 1968 Dodge Super Charger Concept that was showcased at the 2018 SEMA Show. $29,995
