BREWERY OMMEGANG Designing distinctive brand architecture. In Cooperstown, New York, a land historic for rich hop farming and known for its artistic American spirit, the brew masters at Ommegang have been developing a heady portfolio of Belgianinspired beers since 1997. With success and growth came a challenge: How to celebrate their many unique recipes while making sure each individual brew would be readily recognized as distinctively Ommegang? The opportunity was to signify a common quality and appeal to a variety of tastes. Brewery Ommegang branding was created to celebrate the craft of Belgian brewing and serve as a seal of superior quality across the line. Each label artfully headlines the story behind every beer with a unique sense of wit. The system was designed as an expandable platform to provide the client with creative tools to apply to new, limited, and seasonal offerings, as well as throughout the brewery and in marketing communications.

R E S U LT S Overall sales up 16% since new packaging hit shelves. “Our old labels were interesting but showcased the beer names rather than the brand name. Today, we make over 15 beers every year, changing up half of them annually. We decided we needed a new design to give us a family face and a system to work within for better shelf recognition. We think Duffy did a fantastic job, and the rest of the packaging— from 4-packs to cartons and tap handles—is building a coherent and recognizable brand image.” Larry Bennett Communications Director, Brewery Ommegang
