to shed those thick jumpers and cardigans. With the changes in the weather in mind, Waterside would like to share with you some fashion ideas for the coming season of spring time, what to wear and where to go. The new collections are now beginning to enter the shops just waiting for us to go and embrace the new look for 2019. Not only are the clothes that we wear reflects the season and who we are it is also important to take care of our skins. Skin care and beauty tips are always welcome and support our feelings of well-being. With this in mind I hope you will review the tips given within the magazine. It is also the time for the gardens both public and private to begin to come back to life. The expectation of colour returning to our outdoor spaces is always wonderful to behold and taunts us with the longed for summer months and the hope of long warm summer days. Waterside has included some general tips around your garden and preparing for things to come. We at Waterside

OF VENICE
The Almar Experience; innovative vacation packages for your Spring, Summer and Autumn by the sea, refreshing sensations of well-being at the award-winning Almablu Spa and firstclass services exclusively reserved for Business Guests. Three souls to be experienced in the exclusive world of Almar. Established in 2014, Almar Jesolo Resort & Spa, a 5-star property featuring 130 seafront rooms, 34 rooms with partial sea view and 33 rooms with garden view, has already become a touchstone for luxury accommodation in Lido di Jesolo, a seaside resort just 50 minutes –by bus and ferry – from one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Venice.
6
Its contemporary design is enhanced by refined finishes, which contribute to creating an elegant and classy atmosphere. The attentive and professional staff, always available to pamper our Guests and provide them with valuable advice, is our greatest strength. The Almar experience is derived from three distinctive souls which, through spaces, colors, scents, flavors and feelings, are at the heart of the resort. The Leisure component blends with Mediterra - the Soul of Taste – and with the stylish rooms. Almablu Spa is the Soul of Wellness, where time stops to help rediscover selfbeauty. The third Soul, Vitality, finds its expression in the spaces dedicated to Almar Jesolo’s Events and develops into the concept of “Edutainment”, a new way of experiencing Business through relaxation, entertainment and well-being. In our philosophy, which considers Time and Space as limitless

olestar has inaugurated its new global headquarters in
Gothenburg, Sweden. Strategically located on the Volvo Car Group campus, the new building and working environment
supports cross-functional collaboration throughout Polestar and further strengthens cooperation between the Polestar brand and its parent company. The new headquarters building, which is dominated by the ‘Polestar Cube’, was designed by Swedish architecture firm Bornstein Lyckefors, in cooperation with the Polestar Brand team. The bright white glass surfacing on the exterior of the Polestar Cube, with its illuminated Polestar logos, also symbolises the ‘guiding star’ role that the Polestar brand plays as a design and technology spearhead within the Volvo Car Group.
12
Polestar is the new electric performance brand from the Volvo Car Group. Polestar will enjoy specific technological and engineering synergies with Volvo Cars and benefit from significant economies of scale as a result of its connection to Volvo Cars. These synergies enable the design, development and production of separatelybranded, high performance electrified cars. Polestar begins this new era with the Polestar 1 – a low-volume Electric Performance Hybrid GT with 600 hp, 1,000 Nm and an electric-only range of 150 km, the longest of any hybrid car in the world. In the future, the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 will join the portfolio as full battery-electric, higher volume, driver-focused vehicles. Polestar also applies its technology and expertise to electrified Volvo cars. The new Volvo S60 T8 Polestar Engineered features key Polestar components to create a sharper and more engaging driving experience. Polestar optimisation software upgrades are also available for Volvo models, which enhance six performance areas including engine output. ften referred to as the most expensive real estate in the UK, and the fourth
most expensive in the World in terms of
land value, Sandbanks has achieved a reputation of sun, sea and glamour. On a summer’s day, you are hard-pressed to beat the Sandbanks way of life. Hand in hand with the luxury lifestyle is the magnificent property scene that Sandbanks has become renowned for. From super-homes to trendy apartments, to destination restaurants and yacht clubs, this is multi-million pound living at its best. The Peninsula is where the magic happens.
14
Beautiful, homes of distinction with stunning sea views from every window, beach access and interior design worthy of the stars. Sandbanks is also home to a plethora of famous faces including King of the Jungle, Harry Redknapp, star of Channel 4’s Four Rooms Celia Sawyer, footballers, musicians and more. We caught up with an award-winning property group, Saxe Coburg, based in the area who sell super-homes to those moving in and around the county. “The properties that reside within Sandbanks are all different. From an iconic Huf Haus with all the mod-cons, to a contemporary, four-story Townhouse with passenger lift, to bungalows that have been in families for generations. Whatever the style, the one factor attracting people here, is the sea,” tells Saxe Coburg, “there aren’t many places in the UK you can step off your own property directly onto award-winning sand. This is destination living at its best.”
iving in Sandbanks
Saxe Coburg is an award-winning Estate Agents who know the area of Sandbanks extremely well. Their experience is second to none, as is their knowledge. We asked them what sets them apart; “We deliver an exceptional quality and personalised service to all of our clients, many of who return to us time and time again. We believe this is testament to our success. As leading Estate Agents we recognise that we are not just dealing in bricks and mortar but in people’s lives and dreams,” says Suzi Eaton, Marketing Director of Saxe Coburg. No one has a crystal ball, and with Brexit on everyone’s lips there has been a rise in uncertainty in the property market to a degree. However one that is for certain, Sandbanks will continue to be a destination place for homes, second-homes and holiday-makers for centuries to come and a place the UK should be very proud of. We salute you Sandbanks!

Fans of superhero films have most likely seen their fair share of origin stories and are well-versed on the typical zero-tohero formula they follow. Though as producer Nate Moore promises that Captain Marvel will “subvert” this traditional origin story arc, there are plenty of questions to ponder. “Captain Marvel is an origin movie in that you haven’t seen her before, but we think we’ve stumbled upon a structure there that isn’t the traditional structure of what origin movies typically are,” Moore said according to Cinema Blend. “We’re very conscious of making sure that audiences don’t get things that feel like they’ve seen them before.” And the first trailer gives some hints as to the topsy-turvy origin story we’ll be seeing in the new film, where Carol is already a superpowered member of Starforce, with only hazy memories of her life on Earth that begin to re-emerge when she returns to her home planet.

AVOCADO ICECREAM
GUILT FREE REC
IPE
D HEALTH NER, MODEL AN IG ES D I IN IK B FROM RTIS VISOR ABBIE CU AD S ES N T FI D AN
This recipe makes six servings, with each one providing about the same amount of fat that you’d get from 20 almonds, 2 tablespoons of nut butter, or a tablespoon of oil. A serving (1/6) of this recipe will contain about 16g of fat. Make ice cream out of an avocado! Healthy fats have never tasted so good. You can even play around with your additions and really change up the flavours based on what you put in it. For example, cocoa powder (unsweetened) for chocolate ice cream, mint for mint ice cream… etc. Here’s a green tea variation using matcha powder: What you’ll need for about 6 servings: • 1 Ripe Avocado • 1 Can Coconut Milk (fully fat, all natural kind) • Liquid Stevia (to taste, a few drops) • 1 tsp Matcha Powder (high quality is best for most intense flavour; obviously omit if making other flavours) • 1 tsp Baking Extract of Choice (vanilla is always a safe bet) • 1/2 tsp salt Blend all ingredients together in a blender (put the avocado in first to make sure it gets super smooth)… once well combined, transfer to your ice cream maker and follow your manufacturer’s directions. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, this makes an awesome custard which still tastes very satisfying and “dessert”-like. Enjoy!

Isle of Wight Walking Festival celebrates with 40 new walks The annual Isle of Wight Walking Festival “comes of age” in May, with walkers of all ages and abilities invited to set-off across the Island on a wide choice of themed walks. The 21st annual Festival will once again take full advantage of the fact that more than half of the Island has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and boasts not only 60-miles of Heritage Coastline but also 500 miles of well-maintained and signposted footpaths. Add to that a selection of carefully planned and cleverly themed walks, and an online reservation system for booking places on them, and it’s easy to see why the Isle of Wight Walking Festival remains one of the most popular events of its kind in the whole of the UK. Set to run from May 4th to 19th in 2019, including one of the May Bank Holiday weekends, the Festival - sponsored by Warner Leisure Hotels – gives walkers the chance to get up-close-andpersonal with the best of the Island’s stunning scenery. Most of the walks are free, although some walk leaders request a donation for their chosen charity. More than half of this year’s 48

SPRING
AND YOUR GARDEN SOME TIPS TO HELP PREPARE YOUR GARDEN FOR SPRING
Winter is normally a quiet time in the garden however spring will soon arrive and you’ll be will be busy seed-sowing, growing, and nurturing your garden as it comes to life. Preparing your garden early will help make the spring a little less hectic.
Ordering summer-flowering bulbs and seeds This is the perfect task for a wet and windy day! Summerflowering bulbs such as Lilies, Gladiolus and Ranunculus can be planted in early spring for a colourful summer display. Tidying flower beds and borders Time to tidy up and remove the leaves and other debris from your flower borders, lawns and ponds. You can also cut back the old dead growth of deciduous grasses and herbaceous perennials. If the garden soil allows, you can now add organic material such as manure to the borders. Try setting up a compost area in your garden. This does not have to be complicated. It could simply be a ready-made compost bin or you could build a compost bin yourself using spare bits of wood. This will not only provide somewhere to put your garden waste but your plants will benefit from the rich compost created when it all breaks down! Good compost may consist of a good mixture of grass clippings, vegetable peelings, paper and pruned wood. To help the process along you’ll need to turn your compost with a garden fork each month to keep it aerated. Weed young spring weeds. Mulch the bare spots in beds. Any weeds which appear in your garden beds will be easiest to pull now, as the roots are shallow. Covering bare spots with mulch or ground cover will minimize the emergence of new weeds. Adding mulch to a depth of 3 to 4 inches is usually sufficient. Black plastic sheeting can also be used to cover the beds before planting as a way to suppress emerging weeds.

Plant the early spring vegetables. Soil is ready for gardening once it is free of ice crystals and crumbles easily. Soil that is too wet is easily compacted, reducing beneficial soil aeration. Common early spring crops are peas, spinach, lettuces and leeks. For a prolonged harvest, plant several varieties, each with a different maturation date. Follow these crops with broccoli, cabbage, radishes, kale, turnips, new potatoes and onions. Mulch early bulbs if you live in areas where freezing temperatures hang on.
maintenance jobs out of the way. Broken structures or tools are best fixed now so you have more time to spend in the garden during spring and summer. Wooden garden structures are best treated with a wood preservative during dry periods. Trellises and fencing are easiest to repair in early spring, with less growth to work around and fewer roots to disturb. Setting new fence posts, however, is best done after the spring rains have had a chance to drain through the ground. If the water table is too high, post holes will fill with water as you try to dig.
