Welcome to our

Autumn Season This autumn we’re forging new artistic friendships, exploring new ways of making shows and aiming to offer really diverse work for a broad range of people which we hope will be exciting and surprising. We are developing two separate coproductions with leading Scottish Theatres. The first sees Dominic Hill return to direct Futureproof by Lynda Radley, a funny, disturbing and entertaining insight into a travelling freak show. This fascinating new play will preview in Dundee before heading off to be the centrepiece of the Traverse Theatre’s Festival then returning to play here in September. Equally exciting is a new partnership with Edinburgh’s Lyceum Theatre. We are co-producing Liz Lochhead’s modern classic, Mary Queen of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off which will open in Edinburgh and come to Dundee in October/November. We’re also repeating our successful Community Centres project which we ran last year. Baby Baby is a poignant and powerful play about teenage pregnancy and we look forward to taking the Ensemble’s work back into the heart of various communities around Dundee.

I’ll be directing Cinderella, perhaps the most classic of all Christmas shows. We have found a quirky new version of the story which contains all the traditional elements but has plenty of surprises up its sleeve. Included in this season's programme are some large-scale shows (Rhinestone Mondays is set to be a particular treat) but I’m also pleased to be presenting three pieces for children and young people as well as My Romantic History a hit of the 2010 Edinburgh Festival, directed by the Rep's Associate Director, Jemima Levick. Dundee Rep’s dance company, Scottish Dance Theatre, will also be presenting work as part of their autumn tour, as well as their brilliant community dance event, Great Big Dance Show when the theatre is taken over by dancers from all over the city in September. With a sprinkling of comedy and music I hope there's a whole load of things to tempt you to Tay Square this autumn.
