Texas A&M University Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS The Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building (ILSB) encompass 219,000 SF, and provides classroom, auditorium, and office space in addition to research laboratories and specialized support areas for interdisciplinary research initiatives. The project was designed and constructed on a fast-track schedule.
COST
The building includes 95,000 SF of modular laboratories and research offices to support chemical, biological and computational work. Laboratory and lab support facilities utilize modular casework to permit reconfiguration based on evolving research directions. Our CM team worked closely with the design team and University to develop a high performance, sustainable laboratory facility within a constrained budget and extremely aggressive design and construction timeline. The building design required the reevaluation of University laboratory standards for fume hood performance and design, central plant design, process water reclamation, and the use of day-lighting in a laboratory setting, among other things. Preconstruction planning included an extensive effort to analyze sustainable lab systems from a cost/construction standpoint.
