ΚαλοΚαΙρΙ στην πολη!

Κατά τη διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού του 1966, ένας καύσωνας έκαψε τη Νέα Υόρκη με τις πιο σκληρές θερμοκρασίες που καταγράφτηκαν από το 1869.

Ο πόλεμος στο Βιετνάμ, επίσης ανέβαζε θερμοκρασίες.

Ταυτόχρονα, το "Summer in the City," ένα δυναμικό, απολιτίκ ροκ τραγούδι από τους Lovin' Spoonful από τη Νέα Υόρκη, ανέβαινε στις πρώτες θέσεις των charts, διαβεβαιώνοντας τους ακροατές ότι "παρά τη ζέστη, θα είναι όλα καλά."

Γιατί άραγε αυτό το τραγούδι έχει κολλήσει στο μυαλό μου; Γιατί τα λέω όλα αυτά;

Ίσως, γιατί κάνουμε δώρο το καλοκαίρι μας στον τουρισμό και αυτό είναι μεν υπέροχο για την οικονομία αλλά δύσκολο για τους Έλληνες.

Η ησυχία και η πολυτέλεια της απομόνωσης γίνονται όλο και περισσότερο δυσεύρετες στα μέρη του ελληνικού καλοκαιριού. Το να είσαι παγκόσμια δημοφιλής είναι ναρκισσιστικά αποδοτικό και μας κολακεύει και κάνουμε ότι μπορούμε για να το συντηρήσουμε, να το βελτιώσουμε, να το απογειώσουμε. Και γίνεται. Και η

Ελλάδα από άκρη σε άκρη υποδέχεται τους ξένους της. Έτσι, εμείς θα απολαύσουμε την

Summer in the city!

"Despite the heat it'll be all right..."

During the summer of 1966, a heat wave boiled New York City at the most brutal temperatures recorded since 1869. The conflict in Vietnam was also heating up.

Meanwhile, "Summer in the City," a propulsive, apolitical rock song by the New York-based the Lovin' Spoonful, was climbing the charts to No. 1, reassuring listeners that "despite the heat it'll be all right." Why has this song stuck in my mind?

Why am I saying all these things? Perhaps because we give away our summer to tourism, and while that's wonderful for the economy, it's difficult for Greeks. The tranquility and luxury of isolation are becoming increasingly rare in Greek summer destinations. Being globally popular is narcissistically efficient, and it flatters us, and we do whatever we can to sustain it, improve it, elevate it.

And it happens. And Greece welcomes its visitors from one end to the other. Thus, we will enjoy the Athenian Riviera with our turquoise beaches, taking vacations in the city. Escapes with a yacht will be our own summer rejuvenation... and everything will be fine!

Στα ρούχα της πρωταγωνιστεί η θηλυκότητα, η γλυπτική, η αρχαϊκή λιτότητα, η ελληνικότητα, η άνεση και η διαχρονική κομψότητα. Αυτό το καλοκαίρι η

Δάφνη Βαλέντε προτείνει στις γυναίκες να προβάλουν την τρυφερή τους πλευρά, φορώντας πλισέ, γλυπτά ρούχα σε αρχαιοελληνικές φόρμες, που θυμίζουν φυτά και λουλούδια της πατρίδας μας.

Η έμπνευση για την συλλογή της ήρθε από το σπάνιο βιβλίο Βοτανικής ‘Flora Graeca’ όπου κατεγράφη με υπέροχες ακουαρέλες, ο πλούτος της Ελληνικής χλωρίδας κατά τη διάρκεια της Τουρκοκρατίας.

Σε μια παλέτα λουλουδένιων χρωμάτων η Δάφνη πλάθει με αγάπη επάνω στο γυναικείο σώμα τα πλισέ της υφάσματα, προσθέτοντας στοιχεία γλυπτικής και δημιουργεί μοναδικές φόρμες που κλέβουν την παράσταση με την λιτή κομψότητα τους.

Η συλλογή “Flora Graeca” κάνει αντίσταση αισθητικής στο χάος που μας περιβάλλει και τονίζει την αναγκαιότητα σεβασμού προς τη φύση, πριν να είναι πολύ αργά!

With studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and St. Martin's School of Arts - London, Daphne Valente could be our national fashion designer. The feminity, the ancient Greek minimalism, the comfort, the timeless sophistication and class, play a prominent role in her clothes. Daphne Valente suggests that women should show their tender side, wearing pleated, sculpted clothes in Ancient Greek forms, reminiscent of plants and flowers of our homeland. The inspiration for her collection was drawn from the rare Botany book 'Flora Graeca' where all Greek flora was recorded in wonderful watercolors, during the Ottoman occupation. In a palette of floral colors, Daphne lovingly shapes her pleated fabrics on the female body, adding bold drapes and creating unique forms that capture the attention in their understated elegance. The «Flora Graeca» collection, manifests an aesthetic resistance to the chaos in our lives and focuses on the need to respect nature, before it is too late!
