Western Kentucky head football coach Jack Harbaugh returns 41 letterwinners , including 16 starters , from a youthful 1995 team thatfeatured a number of outstanding athletes , but suffered from a lack of overall e x perience

Among the 41 returning lettermen are 10 of 12 athletes who carried the football last fall , leading the Hilltoppers to second place on the NCAA's rushing offense leaders' list. This group is led by veteran tailback Antwan Floyd who enters his final collegiate season with 2,734 career rushing yards , thi rd on WKU's all - time list.

Floyd , who ran for 880 yards last season , is just 836 yards away from Western's career rushing record (3 ,570) , set by Joe Arnold ( 1985-88).

Fullback La Travis Powell (496 yards , 4 TD's) and quarterback Willie Taggart (430 yds ., 8 TD's) also return, along with runningback Ron Townsley (352 yds ., five scores) , tailback Mitchell Randle (290 yds. , 2 TD ' s) and wingback Sidney Williams (159 yds )

Heading up the list of receivers is junior Joey Stockton who ranked fifth in the nation in all-purpose running (119.0 yds pg ), 11th in receiving yards per game (86 3) and 22nd in kickoff return average (23 95)

Leading the way for the defense is last year's top tackler , linebacker Bryson Warner (86 stops in '95) Others returning on this side of the ball are defensive backs Carlis Phillips , Delvechio Walls and Bryan Daniel and tackle Kenny Martray

Western leads the series, 38-31-3.
