Prospectus

Justin Martini and Travis Blevins will vie for the quarterback slot , while Tony McDonald, Corey Sellars , Corey Williams and Gabe Jenkins are candidates at tailback
Mumford feels the offensive line should be a strength of the 1996 team with three starters returning and guards Justin Landers and Roy Miller recovered from injuries that sidelined them last season Returning starters include AII - OVC cand idate Durand Frierson at center and tackles Scott Davis and Mike Nielsen.
The 1996 SEMO defense will be built around a strong linebacking corps that includes both talent and depth Bobby Haggerty, who tied for the OVC lead last season in tackles with 136 hits, leads this group , along with Sondra Rhodes and Brian Burton , a pre-season All-American last season who was granted a medical redshirt after going down with a knee injury in the second game last fall.
The defensive line will be strengthened by the return of All-Amer ican candidate Angel Rubio , who received a medical redshirt after being injured in the 1995 season opener
The secondary includes All-America candidate Greg Klund and veteran defenders Andrew Joyce and Ronnie Sm ith Sophomore Fred Hambrick should move to a starting position at one corner with Smith on the other , while Joyce and Klund will man the safety slots Eastern leads the
