Tiger Alumnus Drew Worsham ('05) Encourages Students to Be Still During Spiritual Renewal Week As the busyness of the spring semester picks up, East Texas Baptist University held its annual Spiritual Renewal activities on campus with worship services and through prayer and reflection with the extended ETBU family the week of February 21. This year’s theme, “Still,” was inspired by Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"

ETBU Honors Two Community Servants at the Good Samaritan Luncheon East Texas Baptist University held its annual Good Samaritan Luncheon on Wednesday, March 2. Bonnie Strauss and Vernia Calhoun were selected and recognized with the Good Samaritan Award for their display of servant leadership in Marshall. Inspired by the parable in Luke 10:25-37, the award acknowledges those that embody the greatest commandment of loving your neighbor as yourself. READ MORE


ETBU Baptist Student Ministry Serves Others at Beach Reach The ETBU Baptist Student Ministry Beach Reach Team spent their Spring Break on South Padre Island serving fellow college students from all over the country. They provided safe rides, meals, prayers, and gospel conversations to their peers while on the island. Teaming up with other BSM students from across Texas, in total, the groups provided 5,917 safe rides, served 2,310 pancakes, prayed with 2,251 people, engaged in 2,024 gospel conversations, and saw 58 people give their lives to Jesus! Alumni Spotlight: Ben ('07) and Angela (Myers) Lippens ('05) Ben and Angela Lippens are up to some amazing things! Ben has served in law enforcement for seventeen years, and Angela, a former educator, now serves as the Children's Minister at Fellowship of the Parks. In addition to each of their full-time jobs, Angela is the Founder/President at Unfaulted, an organization that serves young women who have aged out of foster care. As the Director of Social Media for Unfaulted, Ben communicates their goal of building a foundation for young women who have aged out of the foster care system by connecting them with resources to help attain employment, transportation, housing, education, and relational support. Ben and Angela want to provide hope and tools to equip these young women to be successful, independent adults. We are so proud of our alumni serving the Lord by offering creative and practical solutions to some of today's toughest challenges. LEARN MORE

ETBU's Season Comes to an End in Second Round Another storied season for the East Texas Baptist University Women's Basketball Team came to an end in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Tigers finished their season at 21-6. It is the fifth straight season for 20+ wins and the second appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history. Read more.

F ootl oose Opens ETBU Spring 2022 Theatre Season The ETBU Department of Music and Theatre Arts kicked off the spring theatre season at Memorial City Hall with a production of Footloose, the lively story of a high school troublemaker’s quest to teach a small town how to dance. Read more.

ETBU Soccer Team Volunteers at Starr Family Home in Marshall Nineteen members of the East Texas Baptist University soccer team recently gathered at the Starr Family Home State Historical Site to volunteer their time working outdoors. Read more.


ETBU Hosts Second I nducti on of Al pha Lambda Del ta Honor Soci ety Recently, 68 East Texas Baptist University students were inducted into the prestigious Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society (ALD). ALD is a national honor society that distinguishes firstyear academic success, with invitations to join only extended to students who obtain a 3.5 GPA or higher during the first semester of their freshman year. ETBU Cel ebrates 2022 Women' s Summi t Women of the East Texas Baptist University campus community, including students, faculty, and staff, gathered on March 14 for the 2022 Women’s Summit. The event’s chapel service, luncheon, tea, and worship featured guest speaker Katie McCoy, who serves as the Director of Women’s Ministry at Texas Baptists. Read more.
