With the start of the new school year on Monday, August 15, East Texas Baptist University began its 110th year in the University's storied history. With the start of a new year comes the return of student life and activities to the Hill. ETBU Baptist Student Ministry set up first-day photos for our students in the Quad, and Rogers Spiritual Life Center was filled with excitement as the Tiger community gathered for the first Chapel service of the semester. Please join us in praying for the ETBU campus community as we embark on the 2022-23 academic year.

Fall 2022 Begins with Move In and Tiger Camp

ETBU faculty, staff, and Tiger Camp leaders welcomed new students to their Home on the Hill in preparation of the start of the Fall 2022 semester. New students were greeted with a smile and a helping hand as the ETBU Family moved our newest Tigers into their college home for the year. Incoming students enjoyed Tiger Camp events including small group activities, recreation, worship, and service to the community. Tiger Camp is an important ETBU tradition that helps incoming students acclimate to college life and the Christcentered culture of ETBU. E

“I would not be where I am today, without the foundation that was built in me at East Texas Baptist University. I thought nursing school was one of the hardest tasks I had completed in my life at the time but it was just a stepping stone for all that was to come,” explained Wimberly. “Each life and professional experience that has come for me post graduation just grows me to be a stronger woman of God.”

Dr. Best benefitted from scholarship support that enabled him to attend East Texas Baptist College. “I had no way of attending college without working part time and receiving scholarship assistance.” The education and encouragement James received during his time on the Hill prepared him for an impactful career in ministry as he served over 40 years as pastor of churches in Texas, Alabama, and Oregon for more than 40 years. “In my ministry, I learned the value of ‘giving it twice’ through estate planning.”
