Dr. Ben Condray, one of the institution’s longest serving faculty members, passed away last month at the age of 97. Dr. Ben Condray served as Professor and Chairman of the Chemistry and Physics Department from 1950 until his retirement in 1987. Dr. Condray influenced countless lives in the classroom, on campus, and in the community. Dr. Condray’s legacy extended outside of the classroom as he established endowed scholarships to help students in memory of his wife Mickey, President Harvey Daniel Bruce, and Dr. Ward Walker. In 2018, his former students honored Dr. Condray with the establishment of the Dr. Ben Condray Endowed Scholarship to support chemistry students. Dr. Condray’s legacy will continue in the lives of the students that he taught and the students that he supported through the scholarships he established.

Please take a moment to thank God for Dr. Condray’s life and remember his daughters Dr. Suzanne Condray (’75), Cathy Condray (Attended 75-76), and son Ben Condray Jr. (’84) in prayer. The Condray family also asks all members of the ETBU Family to read a book to a child to honor their dad.
