Volunteering Club

Nowadays, when technologies are widely used and developed all over the world, the value of volunteering should not be underestimated. It is very important to teach students to take care of the people around them. Volunteering helps kids develop communication and social skills. It also greatly improves sense of responsibility and confidence. Moreover, students can make new friends and explore their interests. Finally, students feel their importance in the community and are more likely to get involved with it in future.
Our primary school students participated in different activities during the volunteering club. They took part in Rīga Zoo campaign “Zoozīļuks”. Students picked and collected 609 kilograms of acorns for the Rīga Zoo. Acorns are often used to feed wild animals during the winter period.
Second graders prepared a video-greeting and self-made greeting cards for retired people of the care and rehabilitation center “Auce”. Children were singing songs and reciting the poems to delight the retired residents.
Our students also participated in a charity campaign. Students and their families donated clothes, shoes and toys to help families in difficult situations.
Third graders helped tidy the staircases and entrances of their blocks of flats.
Third graders had the possibility to help out in the local pet shop near the school. They helped clean the cages and feed some of the pets.
