El edificio se inició en el siglo XVI. De su estructura original, construida según los cánones del Renacimiento clasicista, subsiste el ángulo noreste. En los años 60 del siglo XX se lleva a cabo una ampliación y reforma tras la demolición del vecino Teatro Principal. En la escalera que conduce al Salón de Plenos se pueden contemplar dos murales de Vela Zanetti y una vidriera de Luis García Zurdo.
City Hall León-San Marcelo Its construction began in the sixteenth century. From its original structure, built according to the canons of the classicist Renaissance, the northeast corner subsists. In the 60’s of the twentieth century, an extension and reform is carried out after the demolition of the neighboring Teatro Principal. On the staircase leading to the Plenary Hall you can see two murals of Vela Zanetti and a stained glass window of Luis García Zurdo.
