A EDP Maratona do Porto tem um percurso belíssimo que se estende por Porto, Matosinhos e Vila Nova de Gaia. Esta frente atlântica é o cenário para a prova rainha do atletismo e permite aos corredores um panorama de alta qualidade ao longo dos clássicos 42,195 km. Para os atletas que não ficam na cidade por tempo suficiente para conhecerem os seus mais belos recantos, sugerimos que aproveitem a prova para apreciarem o que a região tem de melhor, enquanto cumprem o desafio de correr uma maratona que une três municípios vizinhos e se desenrola maioritariamente nas margens do rio Douro. O Runito, mascote da EDP Maratona do Porto, já esteve a fazer o reconhecimento do percurso e vai apresentar-lhe os pontos turísticos mais importantes que poderá encontrar. Partida no Sea Life Porto Com uma das melhores vistas da cidade, o Sea Life é o ponto de referência da partida do evento. Forte São Francisco Xavier Construído no séc. XVII para defesa costeira contra as incursões de piratas do Norte de África. É também conhecido como Castelo do Queijo por, segundo a tradição, ter sido edificado sobre uma rocha de granito arredondada, e com um formato similar ao de um queijo. Parque da Cidade do Porto O maior espaço verde do Porto e o maior parque urbano do país tem uma superfície de 83 hectares que se estendem até ao oceano atlântico por entre árvores e uma série de percursos que fazem as delícias dos amantes de desporto ao ar livre. Vale a pena uma visita! Anémona – She Changes Da autoria de Janet Echelman, a estrutura em rede, com cerca de 50 m de altura, denominada “She Changes”, é uma homenagem à comunidade piscatória de Matosinhos. O seu esplendor permite-lhe ser encarada como um dos mais emblemáticos cartões-de-visita do concelho de Matosinhos, bem como obra referência não só ao nível nacional, mas também internacional. Porto de Leixões e Ponte Móvel Construída no início dos anos 60, a ponte móvel foi, recentemente, substituída por uma nova infra-estrutura. Esta ponte móvel faz a ligação da cidade de Matosinhos e Leça e integra-se no Porto de Leixões, a maior infra-estrutura portuária do Norte de Portugal que desempenha um papel primordial ao servir diversas atividades industriais e comerciais na sua área geográfica.

Starting Point at Sea Life Porto With one of the best views of the city, Sea Life marks the starting point for the event. Fort São Francisco Xavier Built in the 17th century to defend the coastline from the incursions of pirates from North Africa. It is also known as the Castelo do Queijo (“Cheese Castle”) since, according to legend, it was built on a rounded granite rock, similar in shape to a wheel of cheese. Parque da Cidade of Porto The largest green area in Porto and the largest urban park in the country covers 83 hectares, extending to the Atlantic Ocean with plenty of trees and a series of paths that will delight those who love to run outdoors. It’s worth a visit! Port of Leixões and Movable Bridge Built at the start of the 1960s, the movable bridge was recently replaced with a new infrastructure. This movable bridge connects the city of Matosinhos and Leça, and is part of the Port of Leixões, the largest port structure in the North of Portugal, which plays an important role in serving the various surrounding industrial and commercial activities. The Foz to Ribeira trajectory is one of the most beautiful running paths you will find in the city of Porto.
