Strathberry x Naomi Osaka Limited Edition NOT NEW TO COLLABORATIONS IN THE WORLD OF FASHION, TODAY, THE JAPANESE TENNIS STAR DESIGNS A CAPSULE COLLECTION OF ACCESSORIES IN A LIMITED EDITION IN COLLABORATION WITH THE SCOTTISH BRAND STRATHBERRY 23-year-old Naomi Osaka, the lady of red clay tennis courts and currently number 2 in the WTA classification, announced a new adventure in the field of fashion after her collaborations with the Japanese label ADEAM and the collection of apparel with Nike. A passion for fashion, which for the multiple-time tennis champion first started in early childhood, as she used to sketch designs in the back of the car during long car rides to tournaments in her country. Protagonist of the new capsule collection is the Scottish brand Strathberry, for which Naomi Osaka has designed a limited edition of accessories made up by five bags and two card holders, characterised by a minimalist and contemporary look, with details inspired by the design of a tennis racquet grip. The palette of lime green, vanilla, and pink tones is enhanced by the brand’s signature metal bar hardware.

We have the Ace bag proposed in two colourways - the first in classic black leather adorned with lime green stitching and the second in a mix of white, cobalt, and pink leather paneling. There is then the mini cross body Allegro, also rendered in a white-cobalt-pink mix alongside a woven version in grey accented with orange and white. Finally, the utilitarian Stylist bag can convert from a cross body to a fanny pack. Lastly, completing the capsule are two zippered card holders.

Una passione, quella per la moda, che la pluricampionessa del tennis scopre in realtà già nell’infanzia, quando era solita disegnare nel retro dell'auto durante i lunghi viaggi in macchina per partecipare ai vari tornei nel suo Paese. Protagonista della nuova capsule è il brand scozzese Strathberry, per il quale Naomi Osaka firma una limited edition di accessori composta da cinque borse e due piccoli portafogli e caratterizzata da un'estetica minimalista e contemporanea, con dettagli ispirati al design dell'impugnatura di una racchetta da tennis. La tavolozza dei colori punta sui toni verde lime, vaniglia e rosa, ed è esaltata dall'hardware della barra di metallo del marchio. Abbiamo la borsa Ace, proposta in due colorazioni - in classica pelle nera con cuciture verde lime oppure in un mix di pelle bianca, cobalto e rosa.

C’è poi la mini tracolla Allegro, anch’essa proposta nell’abbinamento bianco-cobalto-rosa o in una versione intrecciata in grigio con accenti arancione e bianco. Infine, l'utilitaria borsa Stylist, che può trasformarsi da tracolla in marsupio. A completare la capsule troviamo due miniportafogli zippati.

WUMAN: spirit of Africa A BRAND THAT PROMOTES AFRICA AND ITS WONDERFUL CULTURE, ART, AND ARTISANAL EXCELLENCES, ITS STORIES AND ITS PEOPLE: IN A WORD ‘GARMENTRATURE’, AS THE FOUNDER LOVES TO CALL IT Created by Ekwerike Chukwuma in 2013, WUMAN draws inspiration from the shape of the female form, which Chukwuma fell in love with while studying medicine at university, but it is also deeply rooted in African art and its cultural heritage, in a combination of architecture, geometry, anatomy, and poetry. Each item of apparel and each accessory is an expression of art and storytelling, which speaks to and involves in a unique way the women who wear them. At the same time, it is a tool of freedom, promoting African society itself, because it directly involves local craftsmen. We find handmade fabrics, batik, embroideries, and prints, while footwear and bags are made using indigenous techniques and collage applications in leather or materials of local origins, with heels and soles that are even sculpted. There are five key concepts defining the spirit of WUMAN and guiding each creation: Heritage, Art, Storytelling, Timelessness, and Positive Impact. The brand is one of the talented companies selected for the EFI Africa Accelerator project, an extensive program that involves the entire continent with the aim of promoting the most deserving brands outside national borders, through tutoring and their development by sector experts. In this way, the program offers a new generation of African talents the possibility to come into contact with the international market, offering it an interesting panorama of incredible creativity present in this continent.

Loewe x My Neighbor Totoro: magic takes shape A NEW CAPSULE, BORN FROM THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE HISTORIC SPANISH FASHION BRAND AND THE JAPANESE PRODUCTION HOUSE STUDIO GHIBLI, CELEBRATES THE POETRY OF HAYAO MIYAZAKI’S 1988 MASTERPIECE, BUT ALSO THE LOVE FOR NATURE AND THE PASSION FOR CRAFTSMANSHIP These are the words used by Jonathan Anderson, creative director of Loewe, to describe the spirit thanks to which the new collection of clothing, leather bags and accessories is born: “In these times we need feelings that warm our hearts. When I think of a movie that offers this kind of comfort to both children and adults, that movie is “My Neighbor Totoro”. The story of Mei and Satsuki’s friendship with the magical Totoro and his friends, the soot spirits that can only be seen by children who love them, thus relives in graphic prints, allover prints, jacquard and leather inlays, but also in hand painted motifs or pompom details. The way how the characters are represented on leather accessories, using the inlay technique on leather, is particularly fascinating. Through this process, the Totoro characters appear on the iconic Loewe bags, such as the Puzzle, Balloon and Hammock models, as well as on small leather goods, while the meticulous weaving technique typical of tapestries is experimented on tote bags. The collection also expresses the bond shared by Loewe and My Neighbor Totoro with nature, as well as work and craft techniques, declined in their respective language, shared with Studio Ghibli.

Quando penso ad un film che offra questo tipo di conforto sia ai bambini che agli adulti, quel film è “My Neighbor Totoro” (“Il mio vicino Totoro”). La storia dell'amicizia di Mei e Satsuki con il magico Totoro e i suoi amici, gli spiritelli della fuliggine che possono essere visti solo dai bambini che li amano, rivive così nelle stampe grafiche, stampe allover, intarsi jacquard e in pelle, ma anche motivi dipinti a mano o dettagli pompon. Particolarmente affascinante è il modo in cui sono rappresentati i personaggi sugli accessori di pelletteria, utilizzando la tecnica dell'intarsio su pelle. Attraverso questa lavorazione, i personaggi di Totoro compaiono sulle iconiche borse Loewe, quali i modelli Puzzle, Balloon e Hammock, nonché sulla piccola pelletteria, mentre sulle tote bag viene sperimentata la minuziosa tecnica di tessitura tipica degli arazzi. La collezione esprime anche il legame condiviso da Loewe e My Neighbor Totoro con la natura, così come la condivisione con lo Studio Ghibli per il lavoro e le tecniche artigianali, declinati nei rispettivi linguaggi.

The limited edition Lightbag is the first design object of German visual artist Regine Schumann, integrating into accessories design the bright fluorescent colour plates that she uses for artworks and installations. Lightbags attract attention by day due to their special shape and material combination as well as fascinating hues, but in the evening, they turn into a very special eye-catcher: UV black flashlights inside further emphasize the brightness of the integrated fluorescent acrylic panels, emphasizing the contour and shape of the bags.

"It appealed to me to create a ‘wearable’ object for once, in addition to my artistic work comments Regine Schumann - I also wanted to show how different colours - as with my artwork - evoke a completely different effect when reinforced by the fluorescence also has a direct influence on the person carrying the bag".

La Lightbag in edizione limitata è il primo oggetto di design dell'artista visiva tedesca Regine Schumann che integra nel design degli accessori le brillanti lastre di colore fluorescente che utilizza per opere d'arte e installazioni. Le Lightbag attirano l'attenzione di giorno grazie alla speciale combinazione di forma e materiale, nonché per le sfumature affascinanti, ma di sera si trasformano con un colpo d'occhio molto speciale: le luci nere UV all'interno sottolineano ulteriormente la luminosità dei pannelli acrilici fluorescenti integrati, enfatizzando contorno e forma delle borse.

"Mi ha affascinato l'idea di creare per una volta un oggetto 'indossabile', oltre alla mia consueta produzione artistica – commenta Regine Schumann - Volevo anche mostrare come i diversi colori come nel caso delle mie opere d'arte - evochino un effetto completamente diverso se rafforzati dalla fluorescenza e abbiano anche un'influenza diretta sulla persona che porta la borsa ".

SPOTLIGHT | Kaban Japanese leather bagmaker Tsuchiya Kaban has created a hand-crafted leather bag whose sole purpose to to carry one miniature 'yukidaruma' (snowman in Japanese). With smooth, clean lines, high quality, water-resistant leather and a thermally insulated polyester inner lining, the Snowman carrier is complete with a carrot pocket and a removable tray, which keeps the frozen figure secure during transport.

Il produttore giapponese di borse in pelle Tsuchiya Kaban ha creato una borsa in pelle realizzata a mano il cui unico scopo è quello di trasportare un "yukidaruma" in miniatura (pupazzo di neve in giapponese). Dalle linee morbide e pulite, in pelle di alta qualità resistente all'acqua e con una fodera interna in poliestere termoisolata, il "porta omino di neve" è completo di una tasca per carote e un vassoio rimovibile, che mantengono il personaggio congelato e al sicuro durante il trasporto.

A workshop that focuses on a creative research on a global scale, which is completed by the excellence of local manufacturing: Serena Cecchini Design. The reality is born from the meeting between the creative souls of Serena Cecchini and Edoardo Filippo Marsili. The former, raised in the world of Tuscan craftsmanship where she was able to develop and build upon her expertise in the field of footwear and accessories at the company owned by her family, then went on to expand her horizons by doing research worldwide in places like London, Paris, Hamburg, New York, and the much beloved Mumbai, where she learned techniques of hand embroidery and developed a strong awareness in terms of fabric and colour combinations.

The latter, instead, after getting his degree course at D.A.M.S. in Bologna and a Master’s in industrial photography and digital post-production in Milan, finished his education in the Far East, to then dedicate himself to photography and graphics, and accordingly become an entrepreneur in the apparel and footwear retail industry.

Serena and Edoardo accordingly decided to combine their respective experiences, so they could specialize themselves in the construction of decorations and accessories destined for all fashion industry segments, from bags and leather goods to footwear, and from apparel to furnishings, giving life in 2007 to Serena Cecchini

This is how the happy conclusion of the digital edition of Expo Riva Schuh - Gardabags could be summarised which, in record time, responded to the contingent difficulties of the period by proposing itself with a revolutionary exhibition format based on Artificial Intelligence.

Characterised by a significant success in terms of attendance and connections, the debut of the Home Edition confirmed the reference role of the event for the segments of volume footwear and accessories. The solutions introduced to concretely support companies and buyers waiting to return to physical meetings, the true heart of every fair dimension, were in fact convincing and innovative.

222 are the companies present in the exhibitor area with a record of more than 21,000 views in the first four days of the event. Almost 9,000 are the products included in the catalogue and consulted by more than 1,800 registered buyers. These, in short, are the numbers registered by the Expo Riva Schuh - Gard-

abags marketplace, the platform on which the Home Edition will remain active until 30 April. A positive experience, with over one thousand digital interactions, which gave a sign of liveliness among exhibitors and buyers, demonstrating great attention to human relationships and laying important foundations for the near future.

A goal achieved also thanks to a wise use of technologies and the desire to continue to create a system through innovative methods, which is based on important assets. First of all, the precious contribution of the actors involved and the centrality of the contents proposed within the programme of Expo Riva Show, a virtual stage where 34 speakers from leading companies of the international footwear scene took turns. Representatives and well-known faces of two important Italian universities - Bocconi University and Catholic University of the Sacred Heart -, sector associations such as Assocalzaturifici, Assoprov and Assomac and market leaders such as Bata, OVS and Steve Madden attended in fact the sessions of the event.

ILM postpones March edition ILM rinvia l'edizione di marzo THE NEW DATE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL LEATHER GOODS FAIR IS APRIL 10-12, 2021, IN RESPONSE TO THE ONGOING PANDEMIC

ILM, originally scheduled for March 6-8, 2021, in Offenbach, Germany, is being postponed. The rescheduling has been agreed in close consultation with the 300 exhibitors at ILM. In addition to the faceto-face event in April, ILM is already offering a virtual format in advance. At the original ILM date in March, exhibitors and visitors can participate in the newly created "ILM Virtual Order Show". The same virtual format will then accompany ILM in April. "We do not consider it responsible to our exhibitors and visitors to hold a trade fair in the first quarter of 2021," says Arnd Hinrich Kappe, CEO of Messe Offenbach. He also considers the April date as more beneficial from an economic point of view. "For many industry players, it is not yet possible to estimate at the beginning of March how the season and orders will develop. In April, on the other hand, there should already be the first signals through the sale of the new collections".

Additionally, Messe Offenbach is offering a new format connected to ILM, the "Offenbach Industry Talk". On February 9, 2021, the interactive project will be launched in cooperation with TextilWirtschaft. "We want to know what moves the industry, but at the same time - as exhibitors and visitors of ILM are used to - offer an opportunity for open dialogue," says Arnd Hinrich Kappe, explaining the concept. The "Offenbach Industry Talk" will take place both as a face-to-face event with a maximum of 99 participants and in virtual form. National and international participants from industry and trade are expected.

On last 8 February, Assintecal, the Brazilian Association of components for leather, footwear and manufactured goods, announced an important change in its top management. After 25 years, Ilse Guimaraes, passes the torch of superintendency, leaving the office for personal reasons. Silvana Dolly, will take up the challenge, whom we interviewed to take stock of the situation of the association and above all of its future projects, among which the support for the digital transformation and sustainable development of member companies, as well as the promotion of ‘Inspiramais’, the show of reference in Latin America for design and innovation in the field of materials.

Where will you focus your efforts in the near future?

The two fronts on which we will work in the coming years are, in particular, sustainability and digital transformation in companies. Sustainability is the keyword in the business world today, because companies need to have a responsible and sustainable growth goal, today more than ever: consumers want to buy products from brands that work within a conscious capitalism, the expression of companies capable of generating value for all its stakeholders. Companies must see sustainability as an added value for their business and for society as a whole. By working on the mapping of raw materials, the company can use fewer resources with greater economic gains, and at the same time with a lower impact on the environment. For this reason, Assintecal works for the inclusion of its companies within the “Sustainable Origins Programme”.

Another priority is digital transformation: companies must be aware of the fact that digitisation is not a palliative related to the spread of the pandemic, but a new and fundamental way of operating that will remain and develop in the future. With this we do not think that digital will completely replace sales made in the traditional way, with face to face visits and trips, companies must however explore the new digital channel and, through it, be able to exploit the opportunities that it offers to be present on the global market. Companies must prepare themselves to participate in online fairs, round tables and virtual business meetings, have an attractive environment for the presentation of live events, invest in photos and videos that show their products in a clear and attractive way. We need to see this evolution in the digital world as a new and parallel sales channel for companies.

Are there any support actions by the Brazilian government in relation to the fashion, footwear and leather goods sector?

Recently Assintecal approved an agreement with SEBRAE - the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service - for the development and improvement of small businesses in the sector in relation to various areas: intelligence, promotion of national trade and export training. These types of agreements are of fundamental importance to SMEs, which most suffered from the pandemic’s consequences. Furthermore, the renewal of the agreement with APEX-BRASIL - the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency - is in the final negotiation phase, which focuses on the internationalisation of companies in the segment and on the construction of a Brazilian reference image, through its ‘By Brasil’ brand for Components, Machinery and Chemicals. In this respect, companies are effectively supported by government guidelines, with tools aimed at getting them as soon as possible out of the deep crisis that has involved the whole world.

From a more institutional point of view, Assintecal is instead more closely and more actively monitoring the Government’s policies and agendas concerning the sector. There is, in particular, a certain concern about the so-called “Brazil’s Risk”, a set of indicators that define the ability of companies to compete on the global market, and which see our country engaged in an ambitious programme of tax and administrative reforms, which are priority. The challenge is enormous: on one side stimulationg consumption and economic activities and on the other reducing bureaucracy, which has represented one of the biggest obstacles to the growth of the sector over the last few years. We therefore

understand that it is paramount to align ourselves with the other entities of the segment in the search for easier paths to more effectively face the health and economic crisis and to be of course in line with the international reality to give new stimuli to our sector.

How do you see the situation of the Brazilian market today?

Companies in the fashion sector as in the rest of the world, are going through a very delicate moment. Retail has, in fact, been hit hard by the pandemic and all companies have suffered huge losses, although some have been more affected than others due to the lack of a clearly organised strategy and a certain familiarity with digital channels and sustainability development. Today more than ever, brands have in fact an urgent need to make a careful evaluation of their processes, products and sales channels in the light of new consumer needs and new market trends. It is time for brands to meditate on their business strategy and, if appropriate, to reinvent themselves to respond to the new needs and expectations of the market.

How are companies in your sector reacting to the pandemic and what initiatives have you taken?

As already mentioned, some companies have been affected by the pandemic more than others precisely because at their base they did not have a strategy suitable for dealing with a crisis such as the one generated by the spread of Covid-19. Others, instead, which had long since structured their sales channels in a digital sense, are facing this difficult moment with greater serenity. As an Association we operate on several fronts with the aim of supporting companies in the sector of components to get out of this crisis soon and well, through initiatives related to sustainability, such as certification of sustainable origin, but also with actions addressed to the Government with representation objectives and the defense of the sector’s interests, internationalisation and market intelligence, as well as with the organisation of round tables related to business and training, in conjunction with the By Brasil project, which aims to promote the export of companies. Without forgetting our commitment to preparing for digital negotiation and promoting innovation, which represets our DNA and the cornerstone of our flagship, the Inspiramais Show.

The sustainability theme is now central to all sectors. Do you have any targeted initiatives in this area?

Sustainability has always been one of the strategic pillars of Assintecal, which promotes new ways of providing services and products with a positive social impact for its members. But sustainability must also be seen as an economic pillar, as consumers increasingly want to know the origin of the products they buy and sustainable development appears ever more as an added value and an economic return also for companies. And it is with this ‘vision’ that the ‘Sustainable Origins Programme’ was developed, a certification for Brazilian companies included in the footwear production chain and which incorporate sustainability into their production processes according to certain indicators in the four economic, environmental, social and cultural dimensions. An initiative created in 2013 by Assintecal and Abicalçados - the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association - and which aims at the sustainable development of member companies, thus involving the manufacturers of footwear, accessories and the suppliers of their components.

Let’s talk about Inspiramais. How will the fair evolve in future?

The next edition of Inspiramais will remain digital, a format that allows us to have no boundaries and to reach visitors from all over the world with a single appointment, who can thus learn about new and more innovative materials and inspirations for the fashion market. Regardless of the return of the physical event, we will thus continue to also develop the digital platform, with the aim of unifying the fashion language, presenting the trends and inspirations for the next season, in order to support the development of new materials and components, and the expansion of the business into the other sectors of the production chain.

Assintecal, l’Associazione brasiliana dei componenti per pelli, calzature e manufatti, ha annunciato lo scorso 8 febbraio un cambiamento importante ai propri vertici, con il passaggio di testimone della soprintendenza, dopo ben 25 anni, da parte di Ilse Guimaraes, che lascia la carica per motivi personali. A raccogliere la sfida è Silvana Dolly, che abbiamo intervistato per fare il punto sulla situazione dell’associazione e soprattutto sui suoi progetti futuri, tra i quali spicca il supporto alla trasformazione digitale e allo sviluppo sostenibile delle aziende associate, nonché la promozione del Salone di riferimento per l’America Latina dedicato all’innovazione nel design e nei materiali, ‘Inspiramais’.

Su che cosa concentrerete gli sforzi nel prossimo futuro?

I due fronti su cui lavoreremmo nei prossimi anni sono, in particolare, la sostenibilità e la trasformazione digitale nelle aziende. Sostenibilità è la parola d’ordine nel mondo degli affari oggi, perché le aziende hanno bisogno, oggi più che mai, di avere un obiettivo di crescita responsabile e sostenibile: i consumatori vogliono acquistare prodotti da marchi che lavorano all’interno di un capitalismo consapevole, espressione di aziende in grado di generare valore per tutti i suoi stakeholder. Le aziende devono vedere la sostenibilità come un valore aggiunto per il proprio business e per la società nel suo complesso. Lavorando sulle mappature delle materie prime, l’azienda può utilizzare meno risorse con guadagni economici maggiori, e allo stesso tempo con un minor impatto sull’ambiente. Per questo motivo Assintecal lavora per l’inserimento delle sue aziende all’interno del “Programma di Origine Sostenibile”. Un altro fronte prioritario è la trasformazione digitale: le aziende devono essere consapevoli del fatto che la digitalizzazione non è un palliativo legato alla diffusione della pandemia, bensì un nuovo e fondamentale modo di operare che resterà e si svilupperà anche in futuro. Con questo non peniamo che il digitale sostituirà in tutto e per tutto la vendita fatta in modo tradizionale, con visite e viaggi di persona, tuttavia le aziende devono esplorare il nuovo canale digitale e, attraverso di esso, essere in grado di sfruttare le opportunità che offre per essere presenti sul mercato globale.

Le aziende devono prepararsi a partecipare a fiere online, tavole rotonde e incontri d’affari virtuali, disporre di un ambiente attraente per la presentazione dei lives, investire in foto e video che mostrano i loro prodotti in modo chiaro e attraente.

Dobbiamo vedere questa evoluzione nel mondo digitale come un nuovo e parallelo canale di vendita per le aziende.

Sono previste delle azioni di supporto da parte del governo brasiliano in relazione al settore moda, calzature e pelletteria?

Assintecal ha recentemente approvato un accordo con SEBRAE - Servizio Brasiliano di Appoggio alle Micro e Piccole Aziende - per lo sviluppo e miglioramento delle piccole imprese del settore in rapporto a diverse aree: intelligence, promozione del commercio nazionale e formazione all’export. Questi tipi di accordi sono di fondamentale importanza per le PMI, che hanno sofferto maggiormente gli effetti della pandemia. È inoltre in fase di trattativa finale il rinnovo dell’accordo con APEX-BRASIL - l’Agenzia Brasiliana per la Promozione dell’Esportazione - che punta sull’internazionalizzazione delle aziende del segmento e sulla costruzione di un’immagine di riferimento brasiliana, attraverso il proprio marchio ‘By Brasil’ per Componenti, Macchinari e Chimici.

Da questo punto di vista, le aziende sono supportate in modo efficace dalle linee guida del governo, con strumenti volti a farle uscire quanto prima dalla profonda crisi che ha coinvolto il mondo intero. Dal punto di vista più istituzionale, Assintecal sta invece monitorando più da vicino e in modo più attivo le politiche e le agende del Governo che riguardano il settore. C’è, in particolare, una certa preoccupazione per il cosiddetto “Rischio Brasile”, un insieme d’indicatori che definiscono la capacità delle aziende di competere sul mercato globale e che vedono il nostro Paese impegnato in un ambizioso programma di riforme fiscali e amministrative che sono prioritarie. La

sfida è enorme: da una parte stimolare i consumi e le attività economiche, dall’altra ridurre al contempo la burocrazia, che ha rappresentato uno dei maggiori ostacoli alla crescita del settore nel corso degli ultimi anni. Pertanto, comprendiamo che è fondamentale allinearci con le altre entità del segmento nella ricerca di percorsi più agevoli per far fronte in modo più efficace alla crisi sanitaria ed economica e, naturalmente, essere in linea con la realtà internazionale per dare nuovi stimoli al nostro settore.

Come vede la situazione del mercato brasiliano allo stato attuale?

Nel settore della moda, le aziende, come nel resto del mondo, stanno attraversando un momento molto delicato. Il retail è, infatti, stato duramente colpito dalla pandemia e tutte le aziende hanno subito ingenti perdite, anche se alcune sono state maggiormente colpite rispetto ad altre a causa della mancanza di una strategia chiaramente organizzata e di una certa familiarità con i canali digitali e lo sviluppo sostenibilità.

Oggi più che mai, infatti, i marchi hanno un urgente bisogno di fare una valutazione attenta dei loro processi, prodotti e canali di vendita alla luce delle nuove esigenze del consumatore e dei nuovi trend del mercato. È tempo per i brand di riflettere sulla propria strategia aziendale e, se opportuno, di reinventarsi per rispondere ai nuovi bisogni e aspettative del mercato.

Come stanno reagendo le aziende del vostro comparto alla pandemia e quali iniziative avete intrapreso?

Come ho già detto, alcune aziende sono state più colpite dalla pandemia rispetto ad altre proprio perché non avevano alla base una strategia adatta ad affrontare una crisi come quella generata dalla diffusione del Covid-19. Altre, invece, che avevano già da tempo strutturato i propri canali di vendita in senso digitale, stanno affrontando questo difficile momento con maggiore serenità.

Come Associazione operiamo su più fronti con l’obiettivo di supportare le aziende del settore della componentistica per uscire presto e bene da questa crisi, attraverso iniziative legate alla sostenibilità, come ad esempio la certificazione di origine sostenibile, ma anche con azioni rivolte al Governo con obiettivi di rappresentanza e difesa degli interessi del settore, internazionalizzazione e intelligence di mercato, così come con l’organizzazione di tavole rotonde d’affari e di formazione, in concomitanza con il progetto By Brasil, che mira a promuovere l’export delle aziende. Senza dimenticare il nostro impegno sul fronte della preparazione alla negoziazione digitale e nella promozione dell’innovazione, che rappresenta il nostro DNA e il fulcro del nostro fiore all’occhiello, il Salone Inspiramais.

Il tema della sostenibilità è ormai centrale in tutti i settori. Avete delle iniziativa mirate in quest’ambito?

La sostenibilità è da sempre uno dei pilastri strategici di Assintecal, che promuove nuovi modi di erogazione dei servizi e dei prodotti a impatto sociale positivo per i propri associati. Ma la sostenibilità deve essere anche vista come un pilastro economico, poiché i consumatori vogliono sempre di più conoscere l’origine dei prodotti che acquistano e lo sviluppo sostenibile appare sempre di più come un valore aggiunto e un ritorno economico anche per le aziende. Ed è proprio con questa ‘vision’ che è stato sviluppato il ‘Programma di origine sostenibile’, una certificazione per le aziende brasiliane inserite all’interno della catena di produzione delle calzature e che incorporano la sostenibilità nei loro processi di produzione secondo determinati indicatori nelle quattro dimensioni: economica, ambientale, sociale e culturale. Un’iniziativa creata nel 2013 da Assintecal e Abicalçados – l’Associazione Brasiliana delle Industrie Calzaturiere – e che mira allo sviluppo sostenibile delle aziende associate, coinvolgendo in questo modo i produttori di calzature, accessori e i fornitori dei loro componenti.

Parliamo di Inspiramais. Come si evolverà la fiera in futuro?

La prossima edizione di Inspiramais rimarrà digitale, un format che ci permette di non avere confini e di raggiungere con un unico appuntamento i visitatori di tutto il mondo, che possono così venire a conoscenza dei materiali nuovi e più innovativi e delle ispirazioni per il mercato della moda.

Indipendentemente dal ritorno dell’evento fisico, continueremo quindi a sviluppare anche la piattaforma digitale, con l’ obiettivo di unificare il linguaggio della moda, presentando i trend e le ispirazioni per la prossima stagione, così da supportare lo sviluppo dei nuovi materiali e componenti, e l’espansione del business negli altri settori della catena di produzione.

An exponent of Generation Z but rooted in tradition, Chiara De Nigris has created “Chiarissima,” a Milan-based brand that turns the bag into an ironic, fun, sustainable and inclusive accessory. Made by hand from scraps of leather supplied by the best Italian tanneries and from crochet embroidery, the Chiarissima bags are a tribute to the traditional Apulian technique of sewing together scraps of fabric to make sheets or clothing, which the designer learned from her grandmother. TheMoirè continues its mission to develop a future-oriented fashion brand with minimal environmental impact, offering a collection of bags made with eco-leather derived from the Nopal Cactus plant.

Two new silhouettes make their debut alongside the iconic BIOS maxi clutch, GEA mini clutch, HERA shoulder bag, CLIO tote and IIRIDA maxi tote. The first is THETIS, a small soft bucket bag with a drawstring that becomes a thin strap, and the brand’s signature ruffle. The second is the DIONI baguette, with its clean, minimalist design, featuring an elongated version of the zip from the iconic BIOS bag, a more rigid shape that highlights its rounded and enveloping shape. It can be carried by hand or on the shoulder with a small tubular strap.

Design projects in the sign of sustainable leather THE “SUSTAINABLE LEATHER CONTEST” DESIGN CHALLENGE OF SMIT & ZOON WITH THE PARTNERSHIP OF ARSUTORIA SCHOOL ENTERS ITS SECOND PHASE WITH THE PRESENTATION OF THE FIVE DESIGNER FINALIST CAPSULE COLLECTIONS FEATURING SUSTAINABLE LEATHER AS THE PROTAGONIST The “Sustainable Leather Contest” moves into high gear. The competition, promoted by Smit & Zoon, leader in chemical products for the leather industry, which in 2021 will arrive at the milestone of 200 years of successful business and innovation, focuses on sustainability as its best practice and focus. A value that is part of the company’s DNA and which today is interpreted by designers Alexandros Vasdekis, Guglielmo Gorno, Hommy Diaz, Javier A. Mogollón, and Laure Wolff in the five finalist capsule collections that feature sustainable leather as the protagonist – understood as a by-product of the meat industry subsequently enhanced through tanning, but also as a material supported by a value chain that is socially and ecologically sustainable.

The five selected footwear talents, among the best alumni of the Arsutoria School, an internationally recognised institution for footwear designers, guarantees a wide

The five capsule collections are aimed at the high-end range and are made up by six footwear models each, made using sustainable leathers treated with the chemical products of Smit & Zoon, with two prototypes per finalist to eventually be chosen for development.

All that’s left to do is await the grand finale of the “Sustainable Leather Contest” design challenge to be held in May 2021 on what is the 200th anniversary of Smit & Zoon, when the prototypes developed in collaboration with Arsutoria School will be presented and the winner of the contest will be announced.

“RE_D.U.W.S” by Alexandros Vasdekis Modular, timeless, seasonless but also contemporary: each model can be worn in various ways and be renewed with different elements, making them genuinely personalised and sustainable.

Like the name says, which is pronounced REDUCE: RE means something that can be used continuously, combined with RE-D (defined, designed, done, discovered), RE-U (used, updated, united), RE-W (worn, wished), and RE-S (shared, shaped, selected, shuffled).

Modulare, timeless, seasonless ma anche contemporaneo: ogni modello può essere indossato in più di un modo e essere rinnovato con diversi elementi, rendendoli davvero personalizzati e sostenibili.

Come dice il nome, che si legge REDUCE: RE indica qualcosa che può essere usato continuamente, combinato con RE_D (designed), RE-U (used), RE-W (worn), RE-S (sahared).
