III IULTCS EuroCongress 2022, full speed ahead

There are now only two months left until the III IULTCS EuroCongress, an unmissable event for all those who are interested in discovering the latest advances in leather chemistry and tanning technology. Organised by the Italian Association of Leather Chemists (AICC), the European Congress headed by the international organisation IULTCS, has been scheduled in Vicenza from 18 to 20 September with the title “Rinascimento: The Next Leather Generation” to highlight the will of the organisers to contribute to the relaunch of the sector, starting with the dissemination of the results of the latest research by the leading leather chemical experts. The EuroCongress 2022, hosted at the Palladio Theater of the Congress Centre of the Vicenza fair, aims to turn the spotlight on 4 major themes: development of increasingly sustainable and performing chemical products, technological process innovation, new leather analysis methods and sustainability of the sector, seen with a view to reducing waste and enhancing by-products. To ensure the realisation of a high-level event, AICC has set up a powerful internal organisational machine that also makes use of the close collaboration of all the associations of the Italian leather supply chain that have chosen to actively support the initiative; that is UNIC - Italian Tanneries, UNPAC (Union of Italian Manufacturers of Tanning Auxiliaries), ASSOMAC (National Association of Manufacturers of Machinery) and the Veneto Leather District (Consortium that brings together companies in the leather supply chain in the Veneto region). The Italian Leather Research Institute (SSIP) and the European Confederation of Tanners (COTANCE) also recently intervened to support the event. After two years of pandemic, expectations are high both technically and socially. Franca Nuti, president of the Scientific Commission that examined the numerous abstracts received, is optimistic: “The Congress was organised with the aim of offering, after two years of pandemic that severely limited technical-scientific comparison, an important opportunity meeting for the entire tanning industry in grasping new proposals and useful ideas to rethink how to make the leather of tomorrow in a truly sustainable way”. The feedback received from the sector was very positive: “The level of the papers we evaluated - continues Nuti - is certainly good with numerous proposals and innovative solutions on various issues useful for planning the future of the supply chain. Everyone will find interesting ideas and suggestions that allow them to think about the creation of the leather item with a path that optimises and preserves environmental resources and product quality. Now, as scheduled, the Full Papers of the Oral Presentations and Posters have arrived and from the contents new themes and solutions emerge that propose the way for the necessary changes and optimisations of tomorrow’s leather. There are many proposals on the concept of both process and product sustainability”. The organisers are now working on the definition of the scientific programme of the conference that will be announced soon. In terms of participation, the goal that AICC has set itself is to bring together at least 400 delegates from all over Europe in Vicenza. The EuroCongress inauguration ceremony will take place in the splendid location of the Olympic Theater. It is one of the artistic wonders of Vicenza, located inside the so-called Palazzo del Territorio, in the historic centre. Inaugurated in 1585 and designed by Andrea Palladio, who was inspired by the Roman theaters described by Vitruvius, this unique theater in the world is decorated with statues and bas-reliefs and will be the setting for the opening ceremony of the congress. Another exclusive location was chosen for the Monday evening Gala Dinner which will be hosted at the historic Bevilacqua Castle, a medieval building from the 1300s located in the town of the same name (Bevilacqua, Verona). A monument rich in history and charm, with elegant frescoed rooms, wonderful parks and gardens. At the end of the Congress, a shuttle service will ensure that everyone can also visit Lineapelle, scheduled in Milan in the days immediately following the event.

Il Congresso dei chimici conciari europei, organizzato da AICC a Vicenza dal 18 al 20 settembre, rappresenta un importante momento di confronto tecnico-scienti co fra ricercatori ed esperti della lavorazione della pelle

Mancano ormai solo due mesi al III IULTCS EuroCongress, un appuntamento imperdibile per tutti coloro che sono interessati a scoprire gli ultimi progressi della chimica e della tecnologia conciaria. Organizzato dall’Associazione Italiana dei Chimici del Cuoio (AICC), il congresso europeo che fa capo all’organizzazione internazionale IULTCS, è in programma a Vicenza dal 18 al 20 settembre con il titolo “Rinascimento: The Next Leather Generation” a sottolineare la volontà degli organizzatori di contribuire al rilancio del settore, a partire dalla divulgazione dei risultati delle ultime ricerche dei maggiori esperti chimico conciari. Ospitato presso il Teatro Palladio del Centro Congressi della fiera di Vicenza, l’EuroCongress 2022 punta ad accendere i riflettori su quattro tematiche di massima rilevanza: sviluppo di prodotti chimici più sostenibili e performanti, innovazione tecnologica di processo, nuove metodologie di analisi delle pelli, sostenibilità del settore in un’ottica di riduzione degli scarti e valorizzazione dei sottoprodotti. Per garantire la realizzazione di un evento di alto livello, AICC ha messo in piedi un’efficiente macchina organizzativa interna che si avvale anche della stretta collaborazione di tutte le associazioni della filiera pelle italiana che hanno scelto di sostenere fattivamente l’iniziativa; ovvero UNIC - Concerie Italiane, UNPAC (Unione dei produttori di ausiliari chimici), ASSOMAC (Associazione dei costruttori di macchine per l’area pelle) e Distretto Veneto della Pelle (Consorzio che raggruppa aziende della filiera pelle nella regione Veneto). A supportare l’evento sono intervenute recentemente anche la Stazione Sperimentale delle Pelli (SSIP) e la Confederazione europea dei conciatori (COTANCE) che ha dato il proprio patrocinio all’evento. Dopo due anni di pandemia le aspettative sono elevate sia sotto il profilo tecnico che sociale. La presidente della Commissione Scientifica che ha vagliato i numerosi abstract pervenuti, Franca Nuti, è ottimista: “Il Congresso è stato organizzato con l’obiettivo di offrire, dopo due anni di pandemia che hanno fortemente limitato il confronto tecnico scientifico, un’importante occasione di incontro per tutta la filiera conciaria nel cogliere nuove proposte e spunti utili a ripensare a come realizzare la pelle di domani in modo realmente sostenibile”. Molto positivo il riscontro ricevuto dal settore: “ Il livello dei lavori che abbiamo valutato – continua Nuti - è senz’altro buono con numerose proposte e soluzioni innovative su varie tematiche utili per progettare il futuro della filiera. Tutti potranno trovare interessanti spunti e suggerimenti che permettono di pensare alla realizzazione dell’articolo pelle con un percorso che ottimizzi e preservi le risorse ambientali e la qualità merceologica. Adesso, come da programma, sono arrivati i Full Paper delle Presentazioni Orali e i Poster e dai contenuti emergono temi nuovi e soluzioni che propongono la strada per i necessari cambiamenti ed ottimizzazioni della pelle di domani. Molte le proposte sul concetto della sostenibilità sia di processo che di prodotto”. Gli organizzatori stanno ora lavorando alla definizione del Programma Scientifico del convegno che sarà presto annunciato. ropa. La cerimonia di inaugurazione dell’EuroCongress si svolgerà nella splendida location del Teatro Olimpico. Si tratta di una delle meraviglie artistiche di Vicenza, situata all'interno del cosiddetto Palazzo del Territorio, nel centro storico. Inaugurato nel 1585 e progettato da Andrea Palladio, che si era ispirato ai teatri romani descritti da Vitruvio, questo teatro unico al mondo è ornato da statue e bassorilievi e sarà la cornice in cui si svolgerà la cerimonia di apertura del congresso. Un’altra location esclusiva è stata scelta per la Cena di Gala del lunedì sera che verrà ospitata presso lo storico Castello di Bevilacqua, costruzione medievale del 1300 situato nell’omonima cittadina (Bevilacqua, Verona). Un monumento ricco di storia e di fascino, con eleganti sale affrescate, meravigliosi parchi e giardini ed un museo interno, visitabile durante l’evento. Al termine del Congresso, un servizio navetta assicurerà a tutti la possibilità di visitare anche Lineapelle, prevista a Milano nei giorni immediatamente successivi.
