Timberland, raises the bar of sustainability

CIRCULAR DESIGN AND REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE TOGETHER WITH THE RETHINKING OF THE LEATHER SUPPLY CHAIN, WILL ENSURE THE BRAND’S COLLECTIONS HAVE A NET POSITIVE IMPACT ON NATURE Zero impact on nature: this is the ambitious goal that Timberland strives to achieve by 2030, by focusing on circular design and a use of regenerative agricultural materials.

“We imagine a boot that puts more carbon back into the land than what was emitted during production. – explains Collen Vien, director of sustainability for Timberland – To achieve circularity, products will be made using materials that would have otherwise gone to waste like plastic bottles, scrap leather, scrap wool…

They will also be designed to be recyclable at ‘end of life’, so they can be disassembled and made into something new. We are incredibly excited about this journey, and hope to inspire the industry as a whole to work together and change the trajectory of our collective future”.

In pursuit of its 2030 goal, Timberland is working to build a regenerative leather supply chain in the U.S., Australia, and Brazil, and is working with regenerative farmers for the creation of new rubber, cotton, wool, and sugarcane supply chains. It also announced a partnership with the Savory Institute to fund research into the tangible benefits of regenerative agricultural practices. The first result of this new pathway is the launching this fall of its first collection of boots made using regenerative leather, with plans to scale significantly in the coming seasons.

“Immaginiamo uno stivale che reimmetta nel terreno più carbonio di quello emesso durante la produzione. – spiega Collen Vien, direttore della sostenibilità del brand – Per raggiungere la circolarità, i prodotti saranno realizzati utilizzando materiali che altrimenti sarebbero andati sprecati come bottiglie di plastica, scarti di pelle, di lana... Inoltre, saranno progettati per essere riciclati a fine vita, in modo che possano essere smontati e trasformati in qualcosa di nuovo. Siamo incredibilmente entusiasti di questo viaggio e speriamo di ispirare l'industria nel suo insieme a lavorare insieme e cambiare la traiettoria del nostro futuro collettivo”.

Puntando all'obiettivo 2030, Timberland sta costruendo una catena di approvvigionamento della pelle rigenerata di pelle in Usa, Australia e Brasile, e lavorando con gli agricoltori rigenerativi per la creazione di nuove filiere della gomma, cotone, lana e canna da zucchero. Ha inoltre stretto una partnership con Savory Institute per finanziare la ricerca sui benefici tangibili delle pratiche agricole rigenerative. Il primo risultato del nuovo corso è il lancio questo autunno della prima collezione di stivali realizzati con pelle rigenerata, con la previsione di accrescerne la produzione nei prossimi anni.

Alessandra Balbi: the value of balancing

THE MULTIDISCIPLINARY BACKGROUND OF THE ITALIAN DESIGNER THAT TAKES ITS CUE FROM ART, ARCHITECTURE, AND DESIGN GIVES LIFE TO CREATIONS WITH AN INTRINSIC AND TIMELESS VALUE, WITH A MOOD SUSPENDED BETWEEN CLASSIC AND CONTEMPORARY Inspiration from the world of art, architecture, and design, together with handmade workmanship entrusted to the expertise of Riviera del Brenta artisans is the solid combination on which the creations of designer Alessandra Balbi are based. With a degree in architecture from Milan’s Politecnico and in Economics from the Università di Siena, and a degree in design from The London College of Fashion, Alessandra Balbi, after many years of experience as an architect and interior designer, made the most of his passion for shoes by launching his very own self-named brand of luxury shoes in 2017.

From the multidisciplinary background of Alessandra Balbi arise creations that are immediately characterized by the perfect balance of proportions, materials, and processes: valuable and timeless, they have a style capable of blending tradition with modernity. Values that can once again be found in the new SS 2021 collection inspired by the Optical works of Argentinian artist Julio Le Parc, from which Alessandra Balbi resumes the multicolour curved bands on flat sandals, slingbacks and sandals on vertiginous stiletto heels. Proposals made more sensual by straps that wrap around the ankle or by small ruffles which know how to enhance femininity by giving a timeless allure.

So, why not do the same thing with your feet? This was the task that was given to Nike’s designers and their answer is the brand new, extraordinary Offline “anti-sneaker” mule. This footwear combines an experimental design with a slightly naïve look, with however technology that is anything but ingenious. In fact, Nike Offline allows you to recharge yourself thanks to two unique sensory midsoles, which are interchangeable based on mood and overall feeling. Sensation 001 is fitted with strategically placed nubs, which offer a massage-like experience for the wearer. Sensation 002 has a greater volume nub pattern for a comfortable prolonged wear time throughout the day. The design of the mule is characterised by a tongue with maxi-foam padding and an adjustable, cushioned strap to optimize comfort.

Servono cambiamenti radicali

A PROFILE OF THE IDEAS AND PERSPECTIVES OF CARLO BONOMI, THE NEW PRESIDENT OF CONFINDUSTRIA, TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE DIRECTIONS OF HIS MANDATE COULD BE.

UN PROFILO DELLE IDEE E DELLE PROSPETTIVE DI CARLO BONOMI, NEO PRESIDENTE DI CONFINDUSTRIA, PER CAPIRE QUALI POTRANNO ESSERE GLI INDIRIZZI DEL SUO MANDATO.

“We must place a vision of deep and positive discontinuity at the centre of the national agenda”, this is the thought expressed by Carlo Bonomi immediately after being appointed president of Confindustria on 20 May. The assembly of delegates that elected him for the four-year period 2020-2024 met online, due to COVID-19, which says it all about the challenges that await him in the next 4 years. We are very keen to outline the ideas and perspectives of the former president of Assolombarda to better understand what the directions of his mandate could be and how the Italian entrepreneurial effort could evolve in the coming years.

Bonomi, born in 1966 in Crema, an entrepreneur in the biomedical sector, has always been interested in companies with a high innovation content, in fact his professional career began in a multinational for in vitro diagnostics and continued holding positions in public and private research companies.

Today he chairs the Board of Directors of Synopo, a company that operates in the field of neurology instrumentation and consumables, and leads the manufacturing subsidiaries, Sidam and Btc Medical Europe.

Dobbiamo porre al centro dell’agenda nazionale una visione di profonda e positiva discontinuità”, questo il pensiero espresso da Carlo Bonomi subito dopo la sua nomina a presidente di Confindustria lo scorso 20 maggio. L’assemblea dei delegati che lo ha eletto per il quadriennio 2020-2024, si è riunita in via telematica, causa COVID-19, il che la dice lunga sulle sfide che lo aspettano nei prossimi 4 anni.

Ci teniamo a tracciare un profilo delle idee e delle prospettive dell’ex presidente di Assolombarda per capire meglio quali potranno essere gli indirizzi del suo mandato e come potrebbe evolversi lo sforzo imprenditoriale italiano dei prossimi anni.

Bonomi, classe ’66, è nato a Crema, imprenditore nel settore biomedicale, è da sempre interessato ad imprese a elevato contenuto d’innovazione, infatti il suo percorso professionale è iniziato proprio in una multinazionale della diagnostica in vitro e proseguito ricoprendo incarichi in società di ricerca pubbliche e private.

Oggi presiede il Consiglio di Amministrazione della Synopo, società che opera nel settore della strumentazione e dei consumabili per neurologia, e guida le aziende manifatturiere controllate, Sidam e Btc Medical Europe.

POLITICS Right after being appointed, Bonomi spoke to the General Council and clarified right away his position with respect to politics: “We must immediately put ourselves in such operational conditions to face the tremendous challenge that lies ahead of us with maximum clarity and energy, continue to bring Confindustria’s position to all the necessary tables with respect to a political class that seems very confused at this moment, with no idea of the path our country must follow”.

He identifies in “a great public-private cooperation, similar to the one that allowed Italy to withstand the harsh blows of the Second World War, terrorism, inflation, the risk of insolvency that led us to the crisis of 2008” the way to overcome the disastrous effects of the pandemic on the economy.

THE RECIPE TO RESTART A “negotiation democracy” where discussion with social partners is continuous represents his recipe for exiting from the crisis. The idea is contained in the preface of the essay «Italy 2030: proposals for the development», signed by Bonomi himself and by 11 other economists, academics and researchers.

The president of Confindustria explains that “negotiation democracy – in contrast with personal and charismatic political leaderships - must be built on a great public-private alliance on which the political decision-maker does not have an unquestionable delegation by electoral mandate, but with which it constantly communicates through business, work, professions, third sector, research and culture representatives”.

The hope is to be able to establish models similar to the German ones with regard to relations between institutions and social partners, models that “have recently allowed in 21 hours of discussion to draw up 15 pages of proposals and activate a 120 billion bazooka to relaunch the economy”.

WHAT CAN CONCRETELY BE DONE Undoubtedly, the new president of Confindustria is contrary to a heavy distribution of money.

Immediately after being appointed, and in the midst of the health crisis, Bonomi indicated three fundamental moves: cutting IRAP, paying off the debts that the Public Administration has with businesses, and unblocking construction sites for already financed public works.

To which he added the need to implement “radical changes”. He asked the government not to bury Industry 4.0, while he made labour unions face the need for new contractual forms.

THE ROLE OF ITALY At a time when many politicians, of every nation and colour, wink at closures and protectionisms of various kinds, Bonomi reveals his thinking considering “Italy’s international position essential: because we live in an economy of interdependence, especially for the features of our country, which is highly transforming and with few raw materials, which make it important to be anchored to global value added chains. This is why it is necessary to implement national strategies, comparable to those of other large European countries, in support of Italian production chains in global value and supply, where the excellence of Made in Italy has been able to conquer positions of growing strength”.

PLANNING FEASABILITY According to Bonomi’s Confindustria, Italy’s goal for the next few years must be to recover 13 points of GDP by 2030: 10 points that Italy will lose this year, plus three that, before Covid emergency, we have not yet recovered since 2008.

How? According to Bonomi, there are several points of action: “A balanced government state in competences,and not antagonistic between central and idependent authorities; a tax administration that is a lever of growth, not an obstacle to its progress; a welfare truly focused on those who have less and on young people, women and families, lower-income workers and those to be redirected to work”.

LA POLITICA Subito dopo essere stato designato, Bonomi ha parlato al Consiglio generale e ha subito chiarito la sua posizione rispetto alla politica: “Dobbiamo metterci immediatamente in condizioni operative tali per affrontare con massima chiarezza ed energia la sfida tremenda che è davanti a noi, continuare a portare la posizione di Confindustria su tutti i tavolo necessari rispetto ad una classe politica che mi sembra molto smarrita in questo momento, che non ha idea della strada che deve percorrere il nostro Paese”.

Individua in “una grande cooperazione pubblico-privato, analoga a quella che ha permesso all’Italia di reggere sotto i colpi durissimi del secondo conflitto mondiale, del terrorismo, dell’inflazione, del rischio di insolvibilità che ci portò alla crisi del 2008” la strada per superare gli effetti disastrosi della pandemia sull’economia.

LA RICETTA PER RIPARTIRE Una “democrazia negoziale” in cui il confronto con le parti sociali sia continuo rappresenta la sua ricetta per uscire dalla crisi. L’idea è contenuta nella prefazione del saggio «Italia 2030: proposte per lo sviluppo», firmata dallo stesso Bonomi e da altri 11 economisti, accademici e ricercatori. Il presidente di Confindustria spiega che la “democrazia negoziale - in contrapposizione con le leadership politiche personali e carismatiche - va costruita su una grande alleanza pubblico-privato su cui il decisore politico non ha delega insindacabile per mandato elettorale, ma con cui esso dialoga incessantemente attraverso le rappresentanze di impresa, lavoro, professioni, terzo settore, ricerca e cultura”.

L’auspicio è poter instaurare modelli simili a quelli tedeschi per quanto concerne i rapporti tra istituzioni e parti sociali, modelli che “hanno di recente consentito in 21 ore di discussione di stilare 15 pagine di proposte e attivare un bazooka da 120 miliardi per rilanciare l’economia”.

COSA FARE CONCRETAMENTE Senza dubbio il neo presidente di Confindustria è contrario a una distribuzione di denaro a pioggia. Immediatamente dopo essere stato eletto, e nel pieno della crisi sanitaria, Bonomi ha indicato tre mosse fondamentali: taglio dell’Irap, pagare i debiti che la Pubblica Amministrazione ha con le imprese, sbloccare i cantieri per le opere pubbliche già finanziate. A cui ha aggiunto la necessità di attuare “cambiamenti radicali”. Al Governo ha chiesto di non affossare Industria 4.0, mentre ha preparato i sindacati ad affrontare la necessità di nuove forme contrattuali.

IL RUOLO DELL’ITALIA In un momento in cui molti politici, di ogni nazione e colore, ammiccano a chiusure e protezionismi di vario genere, Bonomi rivela il suo pensiero che considera “essenziale la collocazione internazionale dell’Italia: perché viviamo in una economia di interdipendenza, specie per le caratteristiche del nostro Paese, fortemente trasformatore e con poche materie prime, che rendono importante essere ancorati alle catene del valore aggiunto mondiali. Per questo occorre realizzare strategie nazionali, paragonabili a quelle degli altri grandi Paesi europei, a sostegno delle filiere produttive italiane nelle catene globali del valore e della fornitura, dove l’eccellenza del made in Italy ha saputo conquistare posizioni di forza crescenti”.

PROGETTUALITÀ Secondo la Confindustria di Bonomi l’obiettivo dei prossimi anni per l’Italia deve essere recuperare, entro il 2030, 13 punti di Pil: i 10 punti che nelle stime l’Italia perderà quest’anno, più i tre che, prima dell’emergenza Covid, non avevamo ancora recuperato rispetto al 2008.

Come? And Bonomi asks entrepreneurs “an effort of absolute dedication. The harsh Italian recessions have taught us that the victims of the crisis unfortunately represent a real catch for politics: a vast audience to be electorally deceived by asserting that only the State can give people answers related to income and work, and that therefore the State must extend further and become manager of the economy again, collecting increasingly more taxes.

Up to maybe closing itself within national borders, denying the European and Western choices that have been the premises and pillars of the Italian rebirth. We entrepreneurs will continue to say no: only businesses and markets, investments and the balance of public finance are able to give income and work to millions of Italians”.

E agli imprenditori Bonomi chiede “uno sforzo di dedizione assoluta.

Le dure recessioni italiane ci hanno insegnato che le vittime della crisi rappresentano per la politica, purtroppo, una preda ambìta: una vasta platea da illudere elettoralmente argomentando che solo lo Stato potrà dar loro risposte di reddito e lavoro, e che perciò proprio lo Stato deve estendersi sempre di più e tornare gestore dell’economia, raccogliendo sempre più tasse. Fino a richiudersi, magari, nei confini nazionali, rinnegando le scelte europee e occidentali che della rinascita italiana sono state premesse e colonne. A noi imprenditori toccherà continuare a dire no: reddito e lavoro a milioni di italiani possono darlo solo le imprese e i mercati, gli investimenti e l’equilibrio della finanza pubblica”.

Siro Badon, President of MICAM is right when he says, “After the lockdown, MICAM will be the first large-scale event to be held at Fiera Milano Rho, representing a concrete opportunity for companies in the footwear industry to relaunch the business”.

The event, which will be held from 20 to 23 September, is preparing to host more than 500 exhibitors and over 5000 buyers, coming primarily from within Italy and Europe, who have confirmed their participation, thus enlivening a meeting that takes on a very special meaning in this moment.

So, how will the event be? Among returns and new proposals, MICAM will have a more flexible, complete format in perfect safety with the goal of relaunching the market. There will be five pavilions, 1,2,3,4 and 6, with the first two renamed Premium and hosting the most exclusive products featured at MICAM. Next to this area, will be the debut of an area occupied by MIPEL – the international leather and bags show – and TheOneMilano Special featured by MICAM – the prêt-à-porter women’s fashion fair – which will offer buyers a new and unique opportunity for completing their total looks.

In terms of returns, will be the MICAM X area dedicated to innovation, with a schedule of meetings and initiatives centred around four themes: Future of Retail, Sustainability, Trends and Materials, and Heritage & Future. Then will then be the Emerging Designers, an area of emerging talents in the footwear industry.

“Here’s an idea: what do you think if before we even produce a shoe, we first ask you if you like it? If you do, we will make it in its full unique glory. If you don’t like it?

We scrap it”.

This is the innovative concept on which the new platform for the personalised development of the First Pitch shoes by Reebok is based: a new way of approaching the market, while reducing waste, which is kicked off with one of the great classics of the brand, the Beekeeper Classic Leather.

How does First Pitch work? The designers of Reebok present a new model or a revamped model on the platform and allow the public anywhere between 3 to 30 days to commit to it. In this phase, if it is to your liking, it can be pre-ordered: the first to order it will pay 1 dollar, the second 2 dollars, the third 3 dollars, all the way up to arriving at the final price. If we arrive at 500 pairs sold, then the model will be produced, otherwise it will be scrapped. You will then receive it nine weeks later.

Yet another sportswear brand teams up with luxury for a collaboration that has a dual mission: to create a capsule collection of great appeal and gather funds for anti-Covid-19 initiatives. The protagonist of this joint venture between Onitsuka Tiger and Valentino Garavani is in fact the iconic silhouette of Mexico 66 SD. The shoe has been revamped with the “V” logo of Valentino placed in a prominent position: embossed on top of the classic Onitsuka Tiger stripes on the outside of the upper, it is hand-printed. The shoe’s tongue has a special co-branded logo. In terms of performance, the heel and sole are made using materials that ensure a high degree of cushioning along with durability and excellent slip resistance.

The colour variants range from white to bright colours like shocking orange, safety yellow, and hot pink, the three-colourway white/blue/red, and white/red: available in select stores of Valentino and online, all profits from the sale of this model will be donated to the non-profit organisation Kidsdoor that provides assistance and support for the Covid-19 emergency.

No season, no collections: founded in 2011, the brand of innovative and artisanal sneakers RBRSL decided to focus on a single product, embracing a new responsible approach to its collections, so they are functional with a timeless look. The aim is to overcome the out-of-date speed characterising the fashion cycle, while avoiding waste during a time when consumer purchases are down. At the same time, the philosophy of the brand is reconfirmed “ Every step that allows man to move beyond a frontier is a step towards the future!” alongside the recognisability of the product that is characterised by an iconic rubber soul that is manually spread and fused with the upper creating a bona fide shell. In terms of innovation, RBRSL invests in digitalisation launching the RBRSL virtual showroom, which is made available to distributive partners and its sales force, for the promotion and presentation of the collections. In questa fase, se è di gradimento, potrà essere prenotata: il primo a prenotare pagherà 1 dollaro, il secondo 2 dollari, il terzo 3 e così via fino a raggiungere il prezzo di vendita fissato. Se si raggiungeranno le 500 prenotazioni, allora il modello andrà in produzione, altrimenti niente.

Per averle a casa, infine, ci vorranno poi nove settimane.

• Un altro brand dello sportswear si allea con il lusso per una collaborazione che ha un duplice obiettivo: realizzare una capsule collection di grande charme e raccogliere fondi per iniziative anti-Covid-19. MICAM kicks off the sector’s events THE PANDEMIC REVOLUTIONISED THE SECTOR’S INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR CALENDAR: AMONG CONFIRMATIONS, CANCELLATIONS AND POSTPONEMENTS, HERE ARE THE APPOINTMENTS THAT THE INDUSTRY CANNOT MISS OUT ON IN INTERCEPTING ITS PATHWAY TO RECOVERY In Italy, the kick-off begins with MICAM: the leading international footwear trade fair, scheduled at FieraMilano Rho from 20 to 23 September, will be held in conjunction with MIPEL, TheOne, Homi Fashion & Jewels Exhibition and Lineapelle - A New Point of View, sending a strong and clear message of the fashion industry’s desire to recover in the spirit of #strongtogether.

The format of the events will be streamlined to only five pavilions (1, 2, 3, 4 and 6), with the first two renamed “Premium” to host the most exclusive MICAM proposal.

At the same time, there will be the debut of the area occupied by MIPEL – the international leather and bags show – and by TheOneMilano Special Featured by MICAM – the prêt-à-porter women’s fashion fair – to offer buyers a total look proposal.

Among the contents, safety will be of primary importance thanks to the safety guidelines implemented with Fiera Milano; while innovation and sustainability will be proposed in the MICAM X area; and creativity will characterise the new talents in the Emerging Designer area. Finally, there will be digital content: next to the physical show will be the MICAM Digital Show, the platform created in partnership with NuORDER that will connect brands with 500 thousand retailers worldwide.

The outlook is optimistic and the organisers are getting ready to welcome over 5000 buyers who have already confirmed their participation.

The compass in Europe The first event after the lockdown in Germany, Gallery Fashion & Shoes, held from 28 August to 1 September in Düsseldorf, according to the Igedo Company organisers “went beyond expectations”. With the participation of 300 exhibitors, of which 54% were foreign, and a selection of 550 brands, it presented a new format that focuses on fashion, shoes, and accessories, which will once again be reconfirmed for the next edition, from 31 January to 2 February.

Moda Made in Italy, which should have been held in Munich from 27 to 29 September, was instead cancelled: Assocalzaturifici explains the reason behind this decision as “necessary in light of the general conditions characterising this difficult moment”. However, thanks to a special agreement between ANCI Servizi and the trade fair district, the brands will have their own showroom open on the same days of the event to meet up with buyers.

In France, from 2 to 4 October, the rendezvous with Premiere Classe is confirmed

with its selection of 450 high-end brands and a high level of creativity offered by the ready-to-wear fashion proposals, accessories, and jewellery. The healthcare and safety protocols of the Government has set the number of visitors at a maximum of 5000. In Spain, the September edition of MOMAD was cancelled and moved to 4-6 February 2021 “with the aim of offering a stronger event – explains IFEMA – in an economic context that will be more favourable to the sectors (apparel, footwear, and accessories) at the fair”.

Finally, in Russia, the authorities have given their official “ok” for trade fairs to start as of 5 September, and so it seems that the fashion footwear rendezvous with Obuv mir Kozhi (20-23 October), which is an irreplaceable appointment for Made in Italy with this market, will in fact take place on these dates.

Uncertainty in the Americas The on-going healthcare emergency in the Americas pushes the organisers of MICAM Americas + Magic in Las Vegas, in the USA, to cancel its first edition scheduled from 30 September to 2 October, and refocus its efforts on the new digital platform.

In Brazil, the same thing is occurring with Francal, which, with the cancellation of the 2020 summer edition, reschedules with the market from 23 to 25 August 2021 in São Paulo. Instead, for now, the appointment with the Couromoda selection of footwear and fashion accessories is still confirmed from 11 to 13 January 2021.

In Asia, postponed to 2021 Although the situation has returned to normal in many Asian markets, organisers have in any case postponed the main events to 2021. APLF, the fair for leathers and materials in Hong Kong will be held from 30 March to 1 April 2021. Instead, the events organised by Top Repute, Shoes&Leather Guangzhou and Shoes&Leather Vietnam, will respectively be held from 31 May to 3 June in Guangzhou, and from 14 to 16 July in Ho Chi Minh City.

La bussola in Europa Prima manifestazione dopo il lockdown in Germania, Gallery Fashion & Shoes, dal 28 agosto al 1 settembre a Düsseldorf, secondo gli organizzatori di Igedo Company “è stata al di sopra delle aspettative”. Con la partecipazione di 300 espositori, di cui il 54% esteri, ed una selezione di 550 brand, ha presentato un nuovo format che punta su moda, scarpe e accessori che verrà riconfermato anche per la

prossima edizione, dal 31 gennaio al 2 febbraio. E' stata invece cancellata Moda Made in Italy, prevista a Monaco dal 27 al 29 settembre: Assocalzaturifici motiva la decisione come “necessaria viste le condizioni generali di questo momento complesso”. Tuttavia, grazie ad un speciale accordo tra ANCI Servizi e il quartiere fieristico, le aziende potranno mantenere uno showroom aperto negli stessi giorni della manifestazione per incontrare i buyer.

In Francia dal 2 al 4 ottobre si conferma invece l'appuntamento con Premiere Classe, con la sua selezione di 450 brand di alta gamma e alto tasso di creatività di moda ready to-wear, accessori e gioielli. Il protocollo sanitario del Governo fissa a 5000 la soglia massima di visitatori.

In Spagna, cancellata l'edizione di settembre, MOMAD si sposta invece al 4-6 febbraio 2021 “con l'obiettivo di offrire un evento più forte - spiegano da IFEMA – in un contesto economico che sia più favorevole ai settori in fiera (abbigliamento, calzatura e accessori)”.

Infine, in Russia le autorità hanno dato il via alle manifestazioni fieristiche dal 5 settembre, sembra quindi confermato l'appuntamento con Obuv mir Kozhi (2023 ottobre) per la calzatura fashion, appuntamento irrinunciabile del made in Italy nel mercato.

WE TALK TO STEFANO PATUANELLI, FORMER LEADER OF THE 5-STAR MOVEMENT IN THE SENATE, AND SINCE SEPTEMBER 2019, MINISTER OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN CONTE’S 2ND GOVERNMENT, AND WE ANALYSE THE INITIATIVES PUT INTO PLACE BY THE ITALIAN GOVERNMENT.

What measures have been taken to counter today’s terrible economic situation?

Applications for non-refundable funds started on 15 June. This is one of the measures contained in the ‘Relaunch Decree’ designed to directly restore some of the damage caused by Covid to SMEs in our country. It consists of immediate liquidity given to companies and sole proprietorships with revenues of up to 5 million euros, which will be disbursed by the Italian Revenue Office.

Also for SMEs, the reduction of excise duty on electricity bills from May to July 2020 will come into operation, and no request will be required: the reduction of costs, from 4% to 97% depending on the power used, will be automatic. This, together with state-guaranteed public reinsurance of € 12 billion, the abolition of the 2019 balance and 2020 advance payment to IRAP, TOSAP and COSAP, will bring a little bit of respite to the difficulties brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Quali le misure adottate per contrastare l’attuale e terribile situazione economica?

Dal 15 giugno sono partiti gli indennizzi a fondo perduto, una delle misure del Decreto Rilancio pensate per ristorare direttamente parte dei danni che il Covid ha prodotto sulle PMI del nostro Paese. Si tratta di liquidità immediata a favore di società e imprese individuali con ricavi fino a 5 milioni di euro, che sarà erogata dall’Agenzia delle Entrate.

Sempre per le PMI entra a regime anche la riduzione degli oneri di sistema sulle bollette elettriche da maggio a luglio 2020, e non sarà necessaria alcuna domanda: la riduzione dei costi, dal 4% al 97% a seconda della potenza impiegata, sarà automatica. Questo, assieme ai pagamenti di 12 miliardi di debiti della pubblica amministrazione, all’abolizione del saldo 2019 e dell’acconto 2020 dell’Irap, di Tosap e Cosap, porterà un po’ di ossigeno alla stretta imposta dal Covid.

Da non dimenticare il Decreto Liquidità, per la parte riguardante il Fondo di Garanzia

There is also the Liquidity Decree, with the part concerning the Guarantee Fund for SMEs. To date, about 738 thousand applications have been submitted for a total of about 42 billion guarantees granted. In practice, since the entry into force of the decree, we are talking about more than half a billion euros of guarantees granted per day, despite the slowness of some credit institutions that have, nevertheless, equipped themselves to fill the gap of the first two weeks.

Finally, until 13 August 2020, companies, VAT holders, small business owners, and farmers who have suffered damage and loss of turnover due to the Covid emergency, will be able to apply for non-refundable compensation. With the Relaunch Decree, we have allocated 6.2 billion euros for this relief measure.

The process is managed by the Italian Revenue Office and has been built to be simple and immediate. The sums will be disbursed directly to the beneficiary’s current account and checks will be carried out later, in order to further speed up the procedure.

We are talking about compensation of up to 40 thousand euros.

The amount paid will be equal to: - 20% for companies with a turnover of up to € 400 thousand - 15% for companies with a turnover between € 400 thousand and € 1 million euros - 10% for companies with a turnover from € 1 to € 5 million euros. However, starting from minimum repayment thresholds.

How will you manage the flow of money from Europe?

We will use it to secure some historical weaknesses and fragilities in our production system: under-capitalisation, the difficulty in accessing innovation, promoting the return of those companies that have moved their production abroad (perhaps by studying a hyper-amortisation plan for assets brought back to Italy, or a super-evaluation of capital used to replant new factories in Italy, not taxing the work carried out in the first years).

What do you think is the best way to face the challenges that lie ahead?

What we need to do today as a government is to firmly embrace an economic policy that stimulates investment, growth, sustainability and innovation. This is certainly a more difficult path and one that doesn’t make headlines. But we have a duty to look to the next ten years. Today more than ever, a long-term economic and industrial perspective is needed.

What are the first steps towards this type of policy?

The 2020-2022 business plan “From Italy to Innovate Italy” of the National Innovation Fund - Gruppo Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Venture Capital, seems to be a good start.

My Ministry has strongly supported the establishment of the National Innovation Fund and the Technology Transfer Fund. Both represent a strategic opportunity for Italy. We live in a country where ingenuity is combined with excellence: we want to make it easier to transform ideas into products and processes, and start-ups have the ability to read the needs of the market and to offer consumers new solutions, and companies, even the most traditional, new ways of meeting demand.

It is a matter of statistics: the more we sow, the more likely we are to succeed. And we will sow through these two business policies that were created precisely to overcome the current difficulties.

The NATIONAL INNOVATION FUND will operate using the instrument of Venture Capital, an area in which the data of recent years bodes well for the future. The Fund will operate through direct and indirect investments with a focus mainly on all sectors of innovation in which our country is already able to express traditional excellence or is able to play a leading role in global competition, thanks to the talent and ingenuity of our “founders” and entrepreneurs. The NIF’s budget is approximately 1 billion euros.

Whereas, the TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER FUND (ENEA TECH) has 500 million euros at its disposal, and wants to bridge the gap between those who make innovation and those who do business. The NIF dedicates itself to supporting the growth path of start-ups over time, up to industrialisation and commercial launch on the market, while Enea Tech intervenes at the base of the innovation system by investing exclusively in the pre-commercial and pre-competitive area, i.e. the area that sector oper-

per le PMI. Ad oggi siamo a circa 738mila domande pervenute per un totale di circa 42 miliardi di garanzie concesse. In pratica, dall’entrata in vigore del decreto, parliamo di più di mezzo miliardo al giorno di garanzie concesse, nonostante le lentezze di alcuni istituti di credito che si sono comunque attrezzati per colmare il gap delle prime due settimane.

Infine, fino al prossimo 13 agosto, imprese, partite iva, artigiani, agricoltori che hanno subito danni e perdite di fatturato a causa dell’emergenza Covid, potranno fare domanda per ottenere indennizzi a fondo perduto. Con il Decreto Rilancio abbiamo stanziato 6,2 miliardi per questa misura di ristoro.

L’iter è gestito da Agenzia delle Entrate ed è stato costruito per essere semplice e immediato. Le somme saranno erogate direttamente sul conto corrente e le verifiche verranno effettuate successivamente, per permettere una velocizzazione ulteriore delle procedure. Parliamo di indennizzi che arrivano fino a 40 mila euro.

L’ammontare dell’importo erogato sarà pari al - 20% per le imprese con fatturato fino a 400 mila euro - 15% per le imprese con fatturato tra 400 mila euro e fino a 1 milione di euro - 10% per le imprese con fatturato da 1 a 5 milioni di euro. Partendo comunque da soglie minime di rimborso.

Come gestirete, invece, il flusso di denaro proveniente dall’Europa?

Lo useremo per mettere in sicurezza alcune debolezze e fragilità storiche del nostro sistema produttivo: la sottocapitalizzazione, la difficoltà di accesso all’innovazione, favorire il rientro di quelle imprese che hanno spostato la produzione all’estero (magari studiando un iper-ammortamento nei confronti dei beni riportati in Italia, o una super valutazione dei capitali utilizzati per reimpiantare nuovi stabilimenti in Italia, defiscalizzare il lavoro per i primi anni).

Come pensa sia meglio affrontare le sfide che ci attendono?

Quello che da oggi dobbiamo fare come Governo è abbracciare stabilmente una politica economica che stimoli gli investimenti, la crescita, la sostenibilità e l’innovazione. È un percorso certamente più difficile e fa meno titolo sui giornali. Ma abbiamo il dovere di guardare ai prossimi dieci anni, oggi più che mai serve una prospettiva economica e industriale di lungo respiro.

Quali i primi passi verso questo tipo di politica?

Il piano industriale per il triennio 2020-2022 ‘Dall’Italia per innovare l’Italia’ del Fondo Nazionale Innovazione - Gruppo Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Venture Capital, mi pare un buon inizio.

Il mio Ministero ha fortemente voluto la costituzione del Fondo Nazionale Innovazione e del Fondo per il Trasferimento Tecnologico. Entrambi rappresentano un’opportunità strategica per l’Italia. Viviamo in un Paese in cui la genialità si sposa con l’eccellenza: vogliamo facilitare la trasformazione delle idee in prodotti e processi, e le start up hanno proprio la capacità di leggere le esigenze del mercato e offrire ai consumatori nuove soluzioni e alle imprese, anche le più tradizionali, nuovi modi di soddisfare la domanda. È una questione statistica: più seminiamo, più probabilità di successo avremo. E semineremo attraverso questi due strumenti di politica industriale nati proprio per sopperire alle difficoltà attuali.

Il FONDO NAZIONALE INNOVAZIONE opererà utilizzando lo strumento del Venture Capital, un settore nel quale i dati degli ultimi anni lasciano ben sperare per il futuro.

Il Fondo opererà attraverso investimenti diretti e indiretti con una attenzione dedicata principalmente a tutti i settori dell’innovazione in cui il nostro Paese è in grado di esprimere già tradizionali eccellenze o è in grado di giocare un ruolo da protagonista nella competizione globale, grazie al talento ed all’ingegno dei nostri ‘founder’ o imprenditori.

La dotazione del FNI è di circa 1 miliardo di euro.

Invece, il FONDO PER IL TRASFERIMENTO TECNOLOGICO (ENEA TECH) ha a disposizione 500 milioni di euro e vuole colmare la distanza tra chi fa innovazione e chi fa impresa. Se il FNI si dedicherà al sostegno del percorso di crescita delle start up nel tempo, fino all’industrializzazione e al lancio commerciale sul mercato, Enea Tech, interverrà alla base del sistema innovazione investendo esclusivamente in ambito

With regards to innovation, in past years the focus has been on Industry 4.0.

How do you plan on carrying out that project?

With the recently launched Transition 4.0 Plan, which has 7 billion euros for investments in innovation, ‘green’ solutions, research and development and design and aesthetic innovation activities, and in Training 4.0.

The plan has the ambition of being the first brick on which to build Italy’s new industrial policy. Transition 4.0 increases the number of potential beneficiaries in the world by 40%. With the adoption of the tax credit as the sole instrument for accessing incentives, we guarantee a leverage effect between innovation and eco-sustainability, while preserving the full automation of the measures. In addition, the times of use will be greatly sped up by eliminating the constraints between investments in tangible and intangible assets.

Come pensa di portare avanti quel progetto?

Con il Piano Transizione 4.0, da poco entrato in vigore, che conta 7 miliardi a favore degli investimenti delle imprese che maggiormente punteranno sull’innovazione, gli investimenti green, in ricerca e sviluppo, in attività di design e innovazione estetica, sulla formazione 4.0.

Il piano ha l’ambizione di essere il primo mattone su cui costruire la nuova politica industriale dell’Italia. Con Transizione 4.0 aumenta del 40% la platea dei potenziali beneficiari del mondo 4.0. Con l’adozione del credito d’imposta come strumento unico di accesso agli incentivi, garantiamo un effetto leva tra innovazione ed ecosostenibilità preservando il pieno automatismo delle misure. Inoltre, si garantisce un importante anticipo dei tempi di fruizione eliminando i vincoli tra investimenti in beni materiali e immateriali.

Environmental sustainability is in fact an issue at the heart of numerous international political projects. How will you address it?

We have allocated € 210 million euros of incentives to companies’ research and development projects aimed at the reconversion of production activities. With this measure, MiSE wants to support research, development and experimentation of innovative and sustainable solutions, in order to promote the reconversion of production activities towards a circular economy model in which the value of products, materials and resources has a longer life and waste production is reduced to a minimum.

La sostenibilità ambientale è di fatto un tema al centro di molti progetti politici internazionali. Come lo affrontate?

Abbiamo stanziato 210 milioni di incentivi per progetti di ricerca e sviluppo delle imprese per la riconversione delle attività produttive. Con questa misura, il MiSE vuole sostenere la ricerca, lo sviluppo e la sperimentazione di soluzioni innovative e sostenibili, al fine di promuovere la riconversione delle attività produttive verso un modello di economia circolare in cui il valore dei prodotti, dei materiali e delle risorse abbia una maggiore durata e la produzione di rifiuti sia ridotta al minimo.

Are there any other important initiatives in favour of SMEs? The project already underway to promote the patentability and enhancement of industrial property by SMEs. To date, € 56 million have been made available with the aim of facilitating the use of patents to protect the technological innovations of SMEs, to enhance the value of trademarks and designs, and also to promote technology transfer projects developed by Universities and Research Institutions.

In order to meet the requests of those who were unable to submit applications for contributions, the MiSE has decided to anticipate the issuing of the 2020 planning decree to apply for access to the Patents+, Designs+ and Trademarks+ measure, making an additional € 43 million available. The deadlines for the submission of new applications will be fixed by mid-July.

Lastly, the deadline to apply for the “Voucher 3I –Investing In Innovation”, i.e. an incentive programme dedicated to innovative start-ups. With a budget of € 19.5 million for the three-year period 2019-2021, managed by Invitalia, the incentive is intended to support the competitiveness of start-ups by financing the protection, in Italy and abroad, of innovation processes through the industrial property patent.

Altre iniziative importanti a favore delle Pmi? Il progetto, già in atto, per favorire la brevettabilità e la valorizzazione della proprietà industriale da parte delle Pmi. Fino ad ora sono stati messi a disposizione 56 milioni di euro con l’obiettivo di facilitare l’utilizzo dei brevetti per tutelare le innovazioni tecnologiche delle Pmi, valorizzare i marchi e i disegni, e promuovere anche i progetti di trasferimento tecnologico di Università ed Enti di ricerca.

Per soddisfare le richieste di coloro che non hanno potuto presentare le domande di contributo, il MiSE ha deciso di anticipare l’emanazione del decreto di programmazione per il 2020 dei bandi per Brevetti+, Disegni+ e Marchi+, mettendo a disposizione ulteriori 43 milioni di euro. Entro metà luglio saranno, quindi, fissati i termini per la presentazione delle nuove domande di contributo. È stato, infine, aperto il termine per richiedere il “Voucher 3I –Investire In Innovazione”, la misura agevolativa dedicata alle start up innovative. Con 19,5 milioni di euro per il triennio 2019-2021, gestiti da Invitalia, si intende sostenere la competitività delle start up finanziando la tutela, in Italia e all’estero, dei processi di innovazione tramite il brevetto per invenzione industriale.

As far as finished leather exports are concerned, there were drops of -35% in value and -26% in volume: an economic trend also shared by the other product groups represented at the fair: producers of accessories and components for footwear and leather goods, and textile and synthetic material manufacturers.

To serve as a turning point for the sector and underline its clear desire for recovery, Lineapelle – A New Point of View confirms its dates on 22 and 23 September, getting ready to host 320 exhibitors coming from 14 countries in halls 5 and 7 of FieraMilano Rho. The event will be held in conjunction with other fashion industry events - MICAM, Mipel, The One and Homi-Fashion & Jewels – to signal the solidity and relaunching of strategic sectors in the Made in Italy supply chain and manufacturing industry which, in recent months, have suffered heavy setbacks due to the pandemic.

As to the contents of Lineapelle - A New Point of View, safety will take centre stage, thanks to the safety protocols adopted together with FieraMilano, so that all industry professionals can do business in complete safety. At the same time, the Fall/Winter 2021/22 collections of leathers, accessories, and components for footwear and leather goods, will be the protagonists of the exhibition and of the Trend Selection areas developed by the Lineapelle Fashion Committee, which are dedicated to the theme The Era Of Simplifying 2 – Slow Is The New Hot, as a way of repossessing time and values.

Reactivity and requalification THE ITALIAN TANNING INDUSTRY GETS READY TO RECOVER BY FOCUSING ON A QUALIFIED SERVICE, TIMING, RESEARCH, AND SUSTAINABILITY, PREPARING ITSELF FOR THE RELAUNCHING FORECASTED FOR THE SECOND HALF OF 2021 The climate of uncertainty triggered off by the pandemic will continue to influence the global economy for all of 2020. The Italian tanning industry, which because of the global healthcare emergency lost -32% of its seasonal revenue and -24% in production volume, is not exempt from this situation. The question we accordingly ask is how is it possible to return to pre-crisis volumes? Even if it is not possible to imagine a definite answer in this confused context, the recommendation of Gianni Russo, President of UNIC- National Union of the Tanning Industry, to his fellow members is to focus on reactivity and GIANNI RUSSO, the requalification of services and the product.

PRESIDENT OF In other words, he asks Italian tanneries to unUNIC dertake an “increasingly qualified upgrading, which respects the timing of production and deliveries that are increasingly tight, requiring the development of impeccable services, with quicker response times and greater attentiveness to the demands of clientele”. This upgrading will also have to include sustainability, promoting “constant improvements of everything that is green: alternative tanning processes, environmental protection and all this is needed to ensure the tannery is a fully qualified example of green economy”. Finally, investments in stylistic research will be needed to reply to the market’s desire for new products in reaction to the crisis. In other words, a virtuous reversal of the current situation must be triggered off, where “Italian research and creativity represent a driving force and a great signal of encouragement”.

Where does this horizon of recovery lie? UNIC predicts there will be a need to wait until the second half of 2021 for a structural recovery, when consumer trends go back to normal and tourists once again start traveling. In the meantime, however, China is starting to see positive signals of the phenomenon of revenge-shopping that is focused on designer label products. There are then interesting opportunities that have been opened up by online sales that are becoming the driving force of the sector.

L'upgrading dovrà anche riguardare la sostenibilità, promuovendo “costanti miglioramenti di tutto ciò che è green: conce alternative, tutela ambientale e tutto quanto è necessario per far sì che la conceria sia a pieno titolo un esempio di green economy”. E, infine, di investire nella ricerca stilistica per rispondere all'attesa voglia di novità del mercato in reazione alla crisi. Insomma, innescare una virtuosa rivalsa rispetto alla situazione contingente dove “Ricerca e creatività italiane rappresentano una forza trainante e un grande segnale di incoraggiamento”.

Ma qual è l'orizzonte della ripresa? L'attesa di UNIC è che si dovrà aspettare la seconda metà del 2021 per una ripresa strutturale, quando i consumi si normalizzeranno e i flussi turistici riprenderanno. Nel frattempo però iniziano a vedersi segnali positivi, in Cina, dove stiamo assistendo al revenge-shopping che ha per oggetto le griffe della moda. E poi nelle interessanti prospettive aperte dall'aumento delle vendite online che stanno diventando l'elemento trainante del settore.

“Haute couture” style CONCERIA SUPERIOR, THE TUSCAN COMPANY FOUNDED IN 1962, WHICH FOR OVER 50 YEARS HAS BEEN OPERATING IN THE HAUTE COUTURE LUXURY LEATHER INDUSTRY, PRESENTS ITS FW21-22 “SARTORIAL” PRE-COLLECTION Present-day times require companies to offer innovative solutions for the market’s needs. A prime example is that of Conceria Superior in Santa Croce sull'Arno which, having missed its appointment with Premier Vision, promptly undertook an innovative strategy to not miss out on its rendezvous with the FW21-22 season. It accordingly created a “haute couture” range of samples created ad hoc to suit the needs and special requirements of each individual maison.

The collection, which has a bona fide sartorial vocation, sees a predominance of classic leathers created according to the “back to handmade” philosophy. The essential colours are: miel (a goose beak yellow), ebony (an extremely dark chocolate), deep carmin (a dark carmine) and dauphin (a cyan blue with grey tones), contrasted by an extremely dark and warm bronze, which sparkles thanks to special light effects. There are then extremely classic calfskins, the signature of the tannery, half calf leather, buffed calfskins, and classic superior calfskins. Proposals that reinterpret today’s extremely popular classic mood revamped in a contemporary key, while also making a nod to fashion highlights and new radiant leathers, which are never over-the-top, with colour references and textures taken from the Seventies and Eighties.

For handmade classic quality, leathers are ennobled through four different steps in production entrusted to the hands of expert personnel: conditioning, with sprays of water on the skins that allow for an ideal moisture level in the next phase of ironing, where the grain of the leathers is refined. Dabbing with the application of diluted aniline creates shading effects that convey depth and transparency. Finally, there is boarding: through a cork board, movement is created in the leather grain.

With this new way of presenting its FW21-22 pre-collection, Conceria Superior underlines the excellence that makes it stand out not only with its products, but also in terms of customer service.

Non mancano i vitelli molto classici, signature della conceria, i mezzi vitelli, il vitellino abrasivato e vitelli classici superior. Proposte che reinterpretano il mood classico rivisitato in chiave contemporanea oggi di grande tendenza, anche se non mancano spunti fashion e nuove pelli luminose, ma senza eccessi, con riferimenti nei colori e nelle texture agli anni Settanta e Ottanta.

Per la resa handmade del classico, le pelli vengono nobilitate attraverso quattro i passaggi di lavorazione affidati alle mani di personale esperto: il condizionamento, con la spruzzatura dell'acqua sulle pelli che permette di raggiungere un tasso di umidità idoneo alla successiva fase di stiratura, dove si affina il fiore delle pelli.

La tamponatura, con l'applicazione di anilina diluita crea effetti di sfumatura che conferiscono profondità e trasparenza. Infine, la palmellatura: attraverso una palmella di sughero si crea un movimento sul fiore della pelle.

Con questa nuova modalità di presentazione della pre-collezione FW21-22, Conceria Superior ribadisce l'eccellenza che la contraddistingue non solo nel prodotto, ma in termini di servizio al cliente.

FEATURES INCLUDE INTERACTIVE FOOTWEAR EXHIBITS, BIOMECHANICS LAB AND MANUFACTURING FACILITIES BASF opened the doors of its first-ever global Footwear Innovation Center in Taiwan, a key footwear manufacturing hub in Asia. Located within the footwear manufacturing site of its strategic partner Longterm Concept (LTC) in Changhua, Taiwan, the BASF Footwear Innovation Center will bring footwear professionals, manufacturers, and designers together to co-create new-generation footwear.

The 7,000 square-foot Center is designed to highlight BASF’s revolutionary footwear materials, innovative culture, and the latest footwear manufacturing technologies from LTC to fulfill innovative footwear design needs.

Combining LTC’s latest footwear manufacturing technologies with BASF’s material expertise in footwear, the center will enable brands to address common operational challenges, optimize manufacturing processes, and improve efficiencies. The new facility will also test and refine material innovations within a shorter timeframe, as well as evaluate concepts on a global scale.

The Footwear Innovation Center will also house a biomechanics lab, where scientific tests will be conducted to develop new footwear solutions that enhance performance.

Infinergy®, the expanded Thermoplastic Polyurethane (E-TPU) that revolutionizes the performance footwear industry, is now available for safety and dress shoes.

Forward AM, a BASF brand specialized in 3D printing, amongst others produces the materials Ultrasint® TPU powder and Ultracur 3D® EL UV resin, which are ideal for 3D shoe printing due to their strong shock absorption and rubber-like elasticity.

The Creation Zone An inspirational zone that showcases existing design works to encourage ideation and co-creation of breakthrough footwear solutions. It also features a sports flooring series made of Infinergy SP, a special grade of E-TPU from BASF, and a full PU impermeable structure certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). Il Footwear Innovation Center si compone di tre aree principali: The Design Zone Un'area interattiva in cui apprezzare e testare i materiali performanti di BASF. Quest'area presenta due dei materiali prestazionali di BASF. Haptex™ è un materiale sintetica che imita la pelle, a basse emissioni e che non contiene solventi. Offre libertà di progettazione ed efficienza di produzione per le tomaie.

Freeflex™, invece, è una fibra di poliuretano termoplastico (TPU) realizzata con Elastollan®, dal grande potenziale di design per le tomaie knitted.

The Functional Zone Una zona immersiva per stimolare i visitatori a creare soluzioni di calzature all'avanguardia. È dotato di un'ampia gamma di materiali, come Elastopan® e soluzioni in poliuretano (PU) che consentono ampie possibilità di personalizzazione, eccellente supporto tecnico e prestazioni di livello superiore.

Forward AM, un marchio BASF specializzato nella stampa 3D, produce tra gli altri i materiali Ultrasint® TPU in polvere e Ultracur 3D® EL UV, che sono ideali per la stampa di scarpe 3D grazie al loro forte assorbimento degli urti e all'elasticità simile alla gomma.

The Creation Zone Una zona che punta sull’ispirazione che mette in mostra i lavori di alcuni designer per incoraggiare l'ideazione e la co-creazione di soluzioni di calzature innovative. Il centro comprende software di progettazione di calzature all'avanguardia, macchine a controllo numerico computerizzato per la fabbricazione di stampi, macchine automatiche per l'iniezione di PU e macchine per tomaie knitted che consentono nuove possibilità di progettazione di scarpe.

BASF ha altri tre centri di sviluppo dedicati alle calzature, situati in Italia, Stati Uniti e Tailandia. Il Footwear Innovation Center integrerà anche le conoscenze e le competenze del centro di sviluppo prodotto di Shanghai e Nansha, nella Cina continentale.

Futurmoda cancels its October edition THE SPANISH TRADE FAIR OF ACCESSORIES, COMPONENTS AND MACHINERY FOR FOOTWEAR AND LEATHER GOODS ANNOUNCED THE SUSPENSION OF ITS 44TH EDITION SCHEDULED FROM 21 TO 22 OCTOBER, WITH ITS NEXT RENDEZVOUS TO BE HELD ON 10 AND 11 MARCH 2021 The uncertainty and impact of the Coronavirus on the entire world has forced A.E.C., FuturModa’s organisational body, to suspend the October edition: “An extremely difficult decision that we made after evaluating the progress of the medical emergency worldwide and consulting most of the businessmen and exhibitors. – comments Alvaro Sanchez Concellon, general manager of FuturModa – We are aware of what it means for our industry, both economically and commercially, in a moment as difficult as the one our industry is going through: we will already start making preparations in September for the March 2021 edition, in the hopes we are able to count on maximum participation by both national and international exhibitors”.

The appointment with the international fair for accessories, components and machinery for the footwear and leather goods industries is accordingly from 10 to 11 March 2021 in Elche, Spain, for the presentation of the Spring-Summer 2022 collections. Dates, which the organisers of the event hope will guarantee an international turnout in line with the results of the last edition in 2019, when 7000 visitors and 435 exhibitors from all over the world were registered.

In March 2021, the fair will reconfirm its format that will present the Spring Summer 2022 Trends seminars alongside the exhibition.

L'appuntamento con la fiera internazionale per gli accessori, componenti e macchinari per i settori calzatura e pelletteria è fissato quindi dall'10 al 11 marzo 2021 ad Elche, Spagna, per la presentazione delle collezioni Primavera Estate 2022. Date che, nell'intento degli organizzatori, dovrebbero garantire una presenza internazionale e in linea con l'ultima edizione del 2019 che aveva registrato la presenza di 7000 visitatori e 435 espositori da tutto il mondo.

A marzo 2021 la fiera spagnola riconfermerà il suo format che prevede accanto all'esposizione i seminari per la presentazione delle tendenze moda per la PE2022.

Up until today, it was believed impossible to apply plastic eyelets using automatic machines that pre-drill: Hawai Italia took on this challenge and, by making the most of its vocation for innovation and expertise in materials and technologies, succeeded in developing a brand new ground-breaking product for the market.

The first step taken by Hawai Italia was that of developing a plastic material capable of resisting the high temperatures of production, while also guaranteeing complete reliability at the same time. The second step was that of implementing a technology capable of making the most of it. Also, in this case, the experience of Hawai Italia in developing innovative productive processes, especially for the processing of plastic materials, made the difference.

Fino ad oggi si riteneva impossibile realizzare una applicazione con occhielli in materiale plastico con macchine automatiche foratrici: Hawai Italia ha raccolto questa sfida e, facendo leva sulla sua vocazione all’innovazione, la padronanza dei materiali e delle tecnologie, è riuscita a sviluppare un prodotto che rappresenta una novità assoluta per il mercato.

Il primo step compiuto da Hawai Italia è stato lo sviluppo di un materiale plastico in grado di resistere alle temperature di lavorazione, in grado al tempo stesso di garantire una totale affidabilità. Il secondo passo è stato l’implementazione di una tecnologia in grado di sfruttarlo al meglio.
