Cross - A Unique Spectacle!

J R Jabayalan

They sat and guarded Jesus Matthew 27:36

The soldiers divided the garments of Jesus among themselves and continued to perform their memorable tasks. We know God guards and keeps man, not man guards, God, and His Son. The Keeper of Israel hangs on the cross and is guarded. Human children, so infinitely endangered in body and soul, act as guardians! Indeed, this is an upside-down world.

But that is how it is on Golgotha.

The innocent trembles under the wrath of God. The sinners, however, go out free. The Son of God is rejected and cries out: My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? but the rejected pardoned. All shame heaped on the Son of God, to whom all honor is due. But the reprobate, covered with shame and the despised is accepted as a child of the living God. The pious Pharisees and scribes mock the dying Savior. But the pagan centurion confesses: Truly this man was the Son of God! The list can go on and on.

The fact is that everything was perverted by the fall. The cross indeed is an event that again turns everything upside down. One can prove it beyond doubt. And it pleased God, through this cross, to again turn around everything that went wrong, to set it right, and to put it in order. Indeed, a unique spectacle!

Behold, the former things have come to pass. Now I declare new things. Before they spring forth, I proclaim them to you- Isaiah 42:9 (NASB 1995)
