WHAT IS BAKLAVA?
Baklava. First appearance of baklava was in the Ottoman Empire. Many countries says that baklava is theirs but we don't have enough information to know that. According to sources first record of baklava was in 1473.
sweet, but onerous. Baklava is made from pistachios(maybe from walnuts too) What makes it difficult it is making the dough a lot of thin layers.
Let me teach you how to do a baklava. First of all, you need these; 5 glass of flour 3 eggs 1 glass milk 1 glass sunflower oil 1 dessert spoon vinegar 1 packet of baking powder 1/2 tea spoon salt
Pour flour to a deep mixing bowl. Make a hole in the middle with your finger. Add eggs, milk, sunflower oil, baking powder, vinegar and salt. Mix all of them slowly until ear lobe consistency. Let the dough rest 1 hour. Then split it to 20 pieces. Make them all as big as a plate on floured counter.
Continue to make dough thinner with roller and corn starch. Melt butter in low heat. Grease doughs. Put the doughs over and over. Then put it on tray. Cut it as rectangles. Put it in 180 cooker that heated before. Cook about 50 minutes.
To prepare sherbet, mix sugar and water in a deep stewpot. Then boil it medium heat 25 minutes. When it boils, add lemon juice. Add sherbet to cooked baklava bit by bit. Then add powdered pistachio and it's ready to eat. Yummy!
