Easter at Hopkins
Hopkins Harvest is hosting their annual Adult Easter Egg Hunt this Good Friday, April 7. I believe it begins at 5 pm. Enjoy music, pizza, refreshments, fire pits and more. It is a really fun event.
On the Sunday, stop in for the ‘Seafood Fest’ with an amazing selection of seafood to take home for dinner.
Also on the Sunday is an Easter Vendor’s Market. Check out some of the amazing items produced by local artisans.
Hospice Golf Tournament
Another fundraiser for the Hospice Society of the Columbia Valley is their upcoming 1st Annual Golf Tournament being held at Eagle Ranch on April 22 at 10:30 am for $140. Eagle Ranch is a beautiful golf course.
The tournament is a shotgun start, 18 hole scramble. Entry includes a cart and a lunchbox. All funds raised go towards Hospice programs in the valley. They do good work.
Tickets are at hospicesocietyCV.com
Hospice Gala
Celebrate the 10th year of the Hospice Society of the Columbia Valley by attending the Hospice Gala on Sunday, April 22 at Eagle Ranch Resort.
Tickets are only $60 for a 3 course meal, live entertainment (Bryant Olender), silent, live and dessert auctions and more. The theme is ‘for the love of chocolate’ and Wild Mountain Chocolate will be there with a cholcoate tasting centre. That sounds good.
The Hospice Society is a great organization that helps people in times of grief. They have been a wonderful support for me on dialysis.

Happy Easter
Enjoy the long weekend folks. I am anticipating some nice weather. Enjoy your family and friends and hopefully a nice meal Get out for some fresh air.
Northern Lights
We had a couple of nights of beautiful Northern Lights displays last week. I missed them but have seen many beautiful photos on the internet. I hope a lot of people got out to see them. I have always loved the night sky artwork. The sky holds some wondrous things.
More Daylight
The days are definitely getting a bit longer lately. I think we see sunlight for about 12 ½ hours daily now. A little bit earlier in the morning and a touch later in the evenings. I love the long days of June.
Robservations
What’s going on this week in Rob’s world? I continue to heal up pretty quickly I guess. I can do short distances on the cane or longer walks with the walker. The snow this morning has set me back as far as walks go. It is tricky in the snow with a walker.
I have been in a very negative head space since I cracked my femur. It has been very isolating, especially on top of my dialysis. My life was dependent on friends (and Home Care) for meals and dog walks. Now I am able to get up and get into the kitchen or out for a drive. It feels nice to be able to see people again.
I did have a few amazing people going out of their way to help me. Some stayed overnight at the beginning to make sure I was okay. Lots of folks took the dogs for a walk or two. Kootenay Kritters has been amazing. The hounds have met a lot of new friends.
I am very thankful for all of the people that have been here to help me out. It may not seem like it sometimes but that is just my bad personality taking over. It is hard to explain the feelings of total isolation and being incapable of doing anything. My friends who have been delivering this rag are amazing, week after week. Anyways, I am hoping for no more major health setbacks. Between the heart surgery, femur, multiple myeloma and kidney failure, it has been a tough past 5 years. I do not wish that on anyone.
Aging Gracefully
As you get older three things happen. The first is your memory starts to fade. I can’t remember the other two. Red Cross H.E.L.P.
The Red Cross offers a Health Equipment Loan Program for people who need mobility aids while healing from a surgery or injury. It is a great thing. They have lent me a wheelchair, a 4 wheeled walker, a 2 wheeled walker and crutches for my femur/ hip injury and surgery.
It makes an incredible difference having the proper equipment for healing. The 4 wheeled walker has changed my world. The program is by donation and you can specify that your money goes directly back into the Invermere depot, for new equipment located in the hospital basement.

Watson’s Waddle
Rocky here with a story of a dog’s life. The other night
Rob let Drew and I out for a pee at 2 am. I quickly discovered that our last guest had left the gate open. I love that as I had figured out how to get through the gate but they made some adjustments and it was now impossible. But, here we were with a great opportunity. So off I went with Drew trailing behind me. After half an hour (2:30 am) we could hear Rob in the distance calling for us. Drew is a good dog so he turned around and headed home, arriving in about 5 minutes. I decided to carry on with no concern for getting lost or stomped by a deer. Apparently, Watson had been stomped pretty badly.

Rob drove by with his windows down calling my name. I ducked into some shrubs so he could not see me. He sounded worried. I wandered home about an hour later, showing up at 4 am. Both Rob and Drew seemed very happy to see me. That made me feel good. I am thinking I will have to do it whenever possible. Bow wow wow.

Easter Meaning
Easter is a big weekend for Christianity. It represents the time of Christ’s death and resurrection. Jesus was a big proponent of love, kindness, forgiveness, acceptance, hope and faith. Christ healed many people and changed their lives through love. Many consider us the brothers and sisters of Christ, and well if that is so, then we also have powers to heal. And we do have those powers. Be loving and kind to anyone and watch how it changes their life. Really. It will change yours as well. Anyways, remember Christ on Easter weekend. Share your love and for many share it in his name. Happy Easter.
Canadian Sports Trivia Answer
The Leafs last won the Stanley Cup in 1967, the year Bill Barilko was discovered, according to the song by the Tragically Hip. It was their 13th Cup.
Canadian Flags
There was a time when it was a glorious symbol of our awesome country. Then somehow, through the plandemic it became a symbol of ‘racists, white supremacists, terrorists’ and more, according to Justin Trudeau and his followers. Normal, hardworking Canadians vilified for their beliefs and questions. Sad, isn’t it? But I am seeing a bit of a return of the Canadian flag lately. More people are remembering what Canada could be. It is a beautiful thing.
Canada Geese
It is a great time of year as the birds begin to appear. I can hear beautiful song birds every morning while on the dialysis machine. I love it. I have also heard and seen some Canada geese pass overhead.

Holy Thanks
So as I was writing this issue and having a little pity-party on how tough my life is with my health issues and trying to keep this ‘stupid’ little paper going, I received an email. It was a game-changer or at least a day-changer.
It told a story of a couple moving to the valley a year ago and how The Valley Peak helped them connect with the valley and get out to places where they have met some friends. Plus they mentioned a few specific things they like about the paper. It was a very powerful note for me as I have been in a negative emotional zone for a while. It changed my whole attitude towards writing the paper (for this week anyway) and added a lot of joy to my day. Never underestimate the power of a positive statement. Always look for things to praise people for and give them as many compliments as possible. You will change many lives with that simple thing.

Standing Up
A 23 year-old Manitoba man had a stroke six days after his vaccine while working at Whistler, BC. He has many stroke-related deficiencies, including blindness. His family is starting a lawsuit against AstraZeneca Canada, also naming the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, the attorney general of Canada and Verity Pharmaceuticals. A big thing.
They will also be suing Whistler’s Vail Resorts who ‘recommended’ that all staff in housing get the vaccine. Meanwhile Trudeau is still spitting out the vaccine is “Safe and effective”.
It is nice to see a family standing up and fighting back in Canada while so many others just sit back and suffer quietly. Soon we must all stand up Canada.
It Was That Year
(From page 4) In 1969, the first ATM was in service, Seiko sold the first quartz watch, Richard Nixon became president and Neil Armstrong became the first person to set foot on the moon.
Truth and Trust
Surveys are showing that the public’s trust in the media is at an all-time low. Why is that? Obviously because of the lack of truth. They pick and choose which stories to bring forward, burying such stories as Jeffrey Epstein’s client list or Hunter Biden’s laptop. They told us that the virus did not come from a Chinese lab. They called the vaccine safe and effective while saying Ivermectin is a ‘horse dewormer’. Lots of ‘untruths’ while censoring opposite opinions.
All the media parroted each other with the lies and so many people lapped it up. The media has us convinced we are all racists, homophobes and more when we are just ‘normal’ people.
Turn off your TV.
Heavy Shirt
‘What was that loud sound?’
“My shirt fell to the floor.”
‘It must be a heavy shirt.’
“I was in it.”
Tree Talk
I saw an interesting comparison on how we treat each other. The gentleman referred to walking through the forest and looking at all these different types of trees. Some are tall, some are bent over, some are green,
some are brown or grey. They are all different and we walk through the forest and just let them be, often admiring them all.
But when we are around humans, our attitude changes. We can’t look at anyone and just let them be or accept them. We instantly come up with things they should change to make them more ‘acceptable’ in our views. It is bad.
Treat the people like the trees folks. Just accept every one of them.
Where We Were
The page 6 photo shows me at dog beach. I am able to get the hounds out for short walks and dog beach is the perfect spot with a place to sit and rest.
