Who did the Toronto Blue Jays host for their first game in professional baseball and when was that game? (Answer on page 5)

August 19-25, 2021 Volume 19 Issue 34 Amazing Interactions This has been a fantastic week for me as several strangers have come out of nowhere to tell me they support most of my opinions. Another gentleman mentioned he does not always agree but still reads every week to see what thoughts I am trying to provoke. No one has to agree with me or believe what I write but I do hope that it makes you think about a few things. I will note here that the racks seem to be emptying very quickly of The Valley Peak so even if you do not agree with my opinions, it is still a very effective venue for advertising.

Victory Celebrations You know how in some sports they throw the ball into the crowd after a victory? Apparently that does not work when you are bowling.

Locals Live Music Pothole Park was very busy last week for the free locals live music performance. It was great to see so many people enjoying the music. This week, Thursday, August 19, brings ‘Smarty Pants’, a very talented, very enter-

Check out Pothole Park on Monday evenings (at dark) for the free ‘Movies in the Mountains’ hosted by the District of Invermere. This coming Monday, August 23, ‘Raya, the Last Dragon’ will be playing. It is a great experience watching an outdoor movie on the huge inflatable screen. There will be a concession with snacks available. Again, bring chairs, blankets and probably some bug juice.

Used Jigsaw Puzzles My addiction to jigsaw puzzles has become tough to shake off. They just help settle my brain. If anyone out there has some used jigsaw puzzles they are willing to give away please let me know. I will be happy to take them off your hands.

FireSmart Rebate Program Book a free Firesmart Assessment and you could qualify for a $500 rebate. Contact the District of Invermere today! 250-342-9281 info@invermere.net www.invermere.net The focus of the FireSmart Rebate Program in 2021 will be on the reduction of combustible vegetation in and around residences, and wood shake or wood shingle roofs- this is the simplest, yet most effective way to improve a home’s ability to survive a wildfire.

The Free Food Pantry at 1313 10 St. in Invermere has been getting a lot of use but it has become very cumbersome for me. My budget has become stretched too much to be able to afford to keep filling the cupboard. Donations seem to have quit coming in lately which is too bad as many folks have been benefitting from the free food. I was very happy to see that someone filled it right up with pasta and sauce last week. I am sure that made a nice difference for several folks.. In Cranbrook and Kimberley they have 14 of these pantries and the Food Bank has taken over their maintenance. That would be great here.

A meal without wine is called breakfast.

Fitness “Last week I climbed some rocky hillsides, waded in a lake, hiked through heavy brush and walked about 7 miles.” “Wow, you are quite the outdoorsman.” “No, I am just a really bad golfer.”

Smoky Skies This has been a crazy summer for weather. Hot and smoky. There seem to be wildfires all over BC. Towns have been burning up and much of the Okanagan is on alert or evacuated. The fire crews don’t seem to be having much success with stopping them. We could use some rain and cooler temperatures. We are all a bit tired of smelling and breathing smoke all day. It is really strong this morning so the dogs and I are not that interested in a long walk. This has to be causing quite a few respiratory issues for people. Hang in there folks. Get some ‘Well Throat’ tea from the tea store downtown. It really helps.

IT’S SUMMERTIME We are your SUMMER FUN DESTINATION!

We all have to do what we feel is best for us. If you feel that wearing a dirty, bacterial -filled piece of cloth on your face is a good idea for your health, go for it. If you want to inject an experimental biological agent into your body for your protection, then do that. It really does not matter to me (except I can’t accept a vaccinated kidney). We all get to make choices about our bodies. But on the other hand, when a person chooses not to do those things but instead take vitamins, eat healthy, drink water, exercise regularly, etc., that should be none of your concern. It is their choice to trust the body that God gave them. Not yours. If you have been jabbed then you should have no worries about what others are doing. You should be protected or why would you even get jabbed? I am trying to understand. I remember when science meant testing a hypothesis to prove it right or wrong. Lately ‘science’ means do whatever you are told without any actual data or any chance to question it. Science is what the TV tells you it is. It is scary. The climate scientists are realizing that some people know that carbon dioxide is one of the most important plant nutrients and higher levels promote plant growth which provides energy and oxygen for humans. So they will be telling us that methane is bad also. Anything to scare us, tax us and regulate us more works for them. Prepare yourself for some climate lockdowns after the novid lockdowns. With vaccine passport and mandatory vaccines, we are quickly headed into George Orwells’ ‘1984’. as well as Hitler’s Germany and prophecies from the Bible. That is the scary part for me, not the renamed flu virus.

Watson’s Waddle I will always be a puppy. Drew here this week as Rocky wrote last week’s column. When you meet us out there on our walks, I am the one with the sweet howl. I love to stretch out my neck, nose straight up in the air, and then let out a sweet howl. I think Rob likes it too. I am the one that is running around in circles, always trying to get Rocky excited enough to play. When he is in the mood we have a lot of fun wrestling and running around. Have you ever seen two Basset hounds wrestling and playing? It is very impressive. We are much quicker and more agile than you could imagine. We came across a deer the other day. Rob has warned us about deer and told us about Watson getting stomped. The thing is, with the two of us charging, a deer has no option but to get the heck out of there as quickly as possible. She stood her ground for a second and raised a hoof as if to stomp but soon decided that would not work with the two of us charging at her. No animals were hurt in the exchange but it was exciting for everyone involved. We also both get very excited when anyone comes to visit. If you want to feel some love, just come visit us. Guaranteed we will make you feel good about life for a few moment anyways. Rob’s friends are all pretty nice to us and they enjoy the warm welcoming.

Power in the Blood of Jesus.

MOVIES IN THE MOUNTAINS MONDAYS, POTHOLE PARK AUG 23 ‘RAYA’ at dusk

This is a true story! I knew a young woman who was held at gunpoint by a person who had just murdered a woman in another town. This young woman said to the man who was holding the gun to her ribs, "you can't touch me, the Blood of Jesus is protecting me. The Blood of Jesus is covering me." The moment she mentioned the Blood of Jesus, the murderer with the gun jumped back. He did not shoot the young woman because she had just pleaded the Blood of Jesus. Revelation 12:11 says: ‘And they overcame him (the devil) by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.’ Glory to God! Amen.

Saw a Few I did manage to see a few shooting stars last week during the Perseids meteor shower. The skies were fairly clear but I am getting to be an old, tired man, haha. I live on a quiet street but there are some bright street lights on it so it was tough finding a dark enough spot to watch for meteors. A person needs to head up into the hills for a good, dark area. Anyway, shooting stars are always spectacular. They help you realize how tiny we are in this universe.

SALVATION COMES THROUGH GOD’S GRACE AND IS RECEIVED PERSONALLY BY FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST

We will see more and more scariants every time our fear subsides a bit. Here comes the ‘Lambda’ scariant. There are no tests to distinguish scariants, you just have to take their word for it. Every doctor who speaks out is immediately censored and vilified by the media. Nobel Prize winners are being called quacks. It is pathetic. I guess that is why our local doctors are silent? Be prepared for all kinds of new lockdowns and mask mandates even though more than 70% of the population has been jabbed. The vaccines are proving to do nothing to stop the virus. That will be followed by some ‘climate lockdowns’ now that they see how receptive we are to lockdowns. Stand up folks.

I have tried the concoction of Epsom salts, a stale beer and blue mouthwash to help reduce mosquitos. You just spray it all around the area you are hanging out at. I have also tried just spraying Listerine around a campsite. It actually seemed to work. I sprayed a small bottle of blue Listerine around our site and we had no issues with mosquitoes. There seemed to be lots around the campground, just not around us.

Tough Tour Me, “That was a really great workout.” Trainer, “That was a tour of the gym.”

Summer Slummers This is definitely the time of year when we see a lot more break-ins to vehicles and homes. The valley gets busy and with more people around, you get more crime. That is not to say the criminals are visitors, many are from within the community. They just see more opportunity and more anonymity. Make sure you lock your vehicles and homes. So many folks live paycheck to paycheck and it definitely sucks to lose things to thieves and vandals. It can take a long time to recover for a lot of victims. There are lots of employment opportunities out there. Maybe working for a living would be better than stealing for a living. Less painful to for the good people that you are screwing over anyways.

Fresh is Fantastic I love this time of year when fruit and vegetables are ripening nicely. Our bodies love fresh produce and so do my taste buds. Vibrant colours, rich in vitamins, great taste; it’s all good. A good healthy lifestyle includes healthy eating so take advantage of this time of year to eat a lot of fresh produce. If you have an abundance, share it with friends or store it for the off seasons. Or even better, put it in the food pantry. Be healthy.

I Am This Country (Form page 4). Thailand’s King Bhumibol is the world’s longest-serving head-of-state with 69 years and counting as leader. Bangkok is the capital city and rice is the main export.

How Many Lies? So the mainstream media has been pushing that we are in a ‘pandemic of the unvaccinated’ now. They have spit out numbers such as ‘99% of cases and hospitalizations are unvaccinated’. That is such a huge lie that it is pathetic. Every single independent news source shows different numbers. People working in the hospitals are saying it is up to 75% of vaccinated people coming in for treatment. Many are finally getting sick of the lies and speaking up a bit. The media has many people convinced that a healthy, unvaccinated person can spread the virus to a vaccinated person. Another brutal lie to cause division amongst the people. Hitler-style actually. They have people believing the Government is trying to help them. That is pretty sad really. I want to note that Ivermectin and Hydroxychoroquine are both safe and effective as treatments and being used worldwide but our media says ‘no’.

Falling Apart If you are still smiling while things are going wrong, you likely have someone else to blame it on.

Sweet Corn I have actually eaten a few ears of corn from my garden and I am quite proud of my accomplishment. It has turned out to be nice, sweet corn. I still have lots of ears that are filling out nicely. I was not sure how corn would turn out but I was lucky this year.

Email rob@valleypeak.ca

Dinner tonight was almost all fresh veggies from my own garden. That is something I never thought I would say. Beets, string beans, green peppers, green onions, garlic, radishes and more make for a nice stir fry.

My Golf Game So I have not been out golfing much this season. Between health issues, business and a lack of invites, it has been pathetic. Anyways, I got out last Friday for my first round of the year. It really was not all that I had hoped it would be. I just do not have the strength or energy that I used to have. I get a bit depressed when I hit a good clean shot and it only goes half the distance it used to go. My brain does not want to accept that. It was nice to get out to Windermere Valley Golf Course though. It is in pretty good shape right now.
