If you are planning an event through the holiday season, please get me the information by this Friday, December 11. My next issue will be the first week of January. I am looking forward to enjoying a couple weeks away from writing. My brain will love the break I am sure.

Great Seafood Orion will be here with his seafood bus this Saturday and Sunday, December 12 and 13. Make sure you stock up your freezer as he won’t be back until March or April. You will find the bus in the usual spot in front of Canadian Tire. Stop in and check it out. You will not be disappointed.

Charge It I found a place that was giving away old batteries. They were free of charge.

Geminid Meteor Shower This is one of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year. The Geminids peak this Sunday and Monday, December 13 and 14. Hope for a clear skyand we should see several bright shooting stars. It is chilly out there so make sure you are dressed extra warm for extended viewing. It will be worth it.

Spicy I switched all the labels in my wife’s spice rack. She hasn’t noticed yet but soon the thyme is cumin.

Put on Your Armour Blessings to the Free Grace Baptist Church whose congregation has ‘put on their armour’ to fight off covid and open their Church in the Fraser Valley. Canada, as it stands today, was built on strong Christian and Spiritual values. I know there have been some issues but it has still been a great country. The Churches and Christianity have been targeted unfairly in these latest times and I am sad they are letting it happen. Do they need to gather in a Costco or on an airplane to make it safe? Maybe give our power to God rather than treat Bonnie Henry like she is God. Freedom of Religion and Freedom to Gather are a couple things that are worth putting on our armour for. It is mentioned in Psalms. Or do we sit back and watch the destruction of Christianity without any opposition?

Saturdays at noon

Invermere Cenotaph Park MERRY CHRISTMAS

Tough times require tough people. I am having a tough time putting all my thoughts into words these days as so many people take everything personally. And very few are thinking the same way that I do but some are (thankfully). I cannot understand why there are so many irregularities in the rules and regulations for covid. More than 90% of Canadian deaths have been in long term care facilities so locking down a bunch of small businesses makes no sense and will solve nothing. Maybe taking a look at the policies in these centres might have a more useful effect on lowering the deaths. I cannot understand why most of the ‘advice’ given by our health officials is the exact opposite of what we all have known our whole lives regarding immune systems and viruses. Isolating, sanitizing and masking are all things that will weaken your immune system. I wonder why there is not much sound advice, such as get healthier through exercise, vitamins, eating properly, resting, fresh air and that sort of thing. Our bodies have internal ‘masks’ called the immune system and it is very effective. I wonder why the media is convincing us to take a vaccine that is said to be 95% effective (totally not possible) versus counting on our immune systems at more than 99% effective. Seems like it will lower our chances of surviving this by 4%. Strange world isn’t it? I am just giving you a few things to think about. Take them or leave them.

Watson’s Waddle I love the sound of my voice. It is very loud. During the years I was chained up, my voice was all I had. I would bark and bark at anything moving, just hoping to get their attention and maybe they would come over and give me some love. Barking was my only tool. So a bit of that has stuck with me. I am certainly getting more love now than I ever imagined but there are still times when I feel the need to use my voice. I get quickly jealous and possessive if other dogs are getting to close to Rob (or Jen or Tracey). I will get in that dog’s face and bark at full volume. It may seem annoying to others but to me, it is awesome. I love it up on the Lake. My voice echoes tremendously. It is like a loudspeaker for me. Anyone on the lake must know I have arrived. Some people pull their dogs closer while those that know me let them come to say ‘Hi”. These days I am just saying ‘Merry Christmas’ to everyone that I see anyways. I want to thank all the people who take the time to stop and love me up (or any pet really). Being a dog is all about love. We have so much love to give and will absorb any love you can offer up to us, giving us more to share forward.

What Year Was It? Hitler became Chancellor of Germany and declared a mission to generate a ‘people’s car’ (later became the Volkswagen Beetle), U.S. prohibition was repealed and cannabis was outlawed. Alcatraz opened, drive-in movies began, Monopoly was released, chocolate chip cookies were invented and Einstein moved to America. What year was it? See page 7.

Pretty scary stuff in Revelstoke eh? A ‘cluster’ of 49 cases as mentioned by the headlines. But what does it say when you read into it? 26 are fully recovered and the other 23 are asymptomatic (another word for healthy) and are ‘recovering’ in self-isolation. But hey, the PCR test told them they are sick. To me that is sick. Please read deeper than the headlines

Hey Doc (Strong Thoughts) Did you know that Dr. Fauci wrote a paper in 2003 stating that the second wave of the Spanish Flu was actually bacterial pneumonia, not the virus? Did you know that prolonged wearing of masks is known to cause bacterial lung infections such as pneumonia? Our lungs remove our waste. Carbon dioxide and bacteria are removed from our bodies through our lungs. That is a scientific fact, period. Every doctor and most health care workers should know that. So I wonder what it takes for a doctor to recommend or even demand that their patients and staff wear masks, knowing the health risks involved. I wonder how many patients a doctor can watch getting sicker without standing up for what is right. In my humble opinion, it seems like the ‘Do No Harm’ part of their oath is long forgotten. I invite any of our local doctors to contact me and have an open, honest conversation about what is happening these days.

WHERE Was Watson? Can you guess where this photo was taken? Answer on page 7

Ghost Bells I have been out ice fishing this afternoon. I am not the most attentive ice fisherman so I usually put a little bell on my fishing rod. It helps let me know if I have a bite and I am not looking at my rod. With Watson and his buddies around, I am rarely looking at the rod. Today the bells rang a couple time and I get a bit tuned to that sound as it is a bit different than the dingling of dog collars. And now I sit at home imagining I am hearing those little bells. It is a funny feeling and has gone on all evening.

It Was That Year (From page 4) In 1933, a house cost $5,750 to buy and $18/month to rent. The average annual income was $1,550. It was the beginning of the Great Depression with nearly 33% unemployment in the U.S. plus the beginning of the ‘Dust Bowl’ years when the Midwest dried up.

Gorgeous Lake I haven’t been down to the lake since it has frozen over but it sure looks like beautiful skating conditions from afar. It seems like a very picturesque Canadian scene with all the different groups of skaters on the lake. We are very blessed to live in such a naturally diverse area. Skating on a frozen lake is certainly a wonderful experience.

Not Too Fancy

Email rob@valleypeak.ca

about 15 minutes ago as I had made some good progress. But my laptop froze in Word and cleared out everything I had written. I usually save quite often but this had never happened before so nothing saved this time. I guess it gave me a paragraph of writing topic though.

Happy Hill I am pretty lucky to have my dialysis machine sitting where it is. I have a nice window looking across a field and up a nice hill to the soccer fields. That hill is very busy. All day people walk their dogs in our neighbourhood and there is a nice trail up the hill. Many dogs enjoy sniffing along there. In the snowy times, it is a great little toboggan hill. Some kids spend hours climbing up and sliding down. I love watching them during dialysis. And bike riders. Many parents bring their kids over to learn how to navigate a bit of a tricky hill. I have seen a lot of crashes and a lot of great successes.

Fresh Air It is great how Watson loves this weather. As long as he keeps moving around, he is happy. He spends a lot of time outside and it sure seems to show in the evenings. Fresh air and exercise means some great sleep. It even works for me.

I was unable to get an advent calendar this year so I am just randomly opening cupboards and reaching in for food.

Where Watson Was The page 6 photo shows Watson on another adventure. He is visiting the park in Radium between paper deliveries. It is a great spot.

Wiped Out I am trying to get a good jump on writing this week as I would like to get outdoors for a bit tomorrow. I was feeling pretty good
