Christmas Bureau
The Christmas Bureau of the Columbia Valley pick-up is this Thursday, December 15, between 1 and 7 pm, at the Columbia Valley Centre in Invermere. Make sure to bring your I.D. and the I.D. for everyone else listed on your application!
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated and to all the volunteers who put this together. Please have your donations, gift boxes, etc. at the hall by noon that day.
Mathematical
There is a fine line between a numerator and a denominator. Only a fraction of people will get this.
Rockies Hockey
The Columbia Valley Rockies had a strong weekend defeating league leaders Revelstoke 3-2 in an overtime shootout. The following night they took down the Nelson Leafs 6-0.
The Rockies host the Golden Rockets this Friday, December 16 at 7:30 pm. They will be hosting Golden again on December 31 for an afternoon game on New Year’s Eve. The Rockies remain in first place in the Eddie Mountain Division. They love to hear
the fans cheering them on. That is you folks.
Meteor Showers
Look into the sky at night. The Geminids Meteor Shower is peaking right now. You may see up to 100 meteors per hour on peak night, around 2 am December 14. The moon is late rising providing some great viewing if the skies are clear. There is another meteor shower (Ursids) happening right away (December 24).
This shower is caused by debris from the asteroid 3200 Paethon. Most are caused by comets rather than asteroids.
A Single Issue
So I am taking a couple of weeks off at Christmas and New Year’s. It will be nice to just sit back and not stress about the paper for a bit.
That means that there is actually only one more issue between now and the first week of January. Only one issue to get your information out there.
Many of us are focused on Christmas right now, but don’t forget about New Year’s Eve and so on. Any big events planned? Let me know asap.
Coys Bistro
Welcome to my new client, Coy’s Par 3. Check out their lovely page 1 ad. Coy’s is keeping the restaurant open Fridays and Saturday evenings from 4-9 pm with amazing dinner specials each night. They will have a set menu to order from or you can choose the wonderful special. Enjoy amazing food, great drinks and a cozy atmosphere. Stop in or call 250-3456504.
Coy’s is also offering gift cards that can be used for golf or food. Sounds like a great gift idea for those loved ones.
Riddliculous
We all know that both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day are one week apart so they always fall on the same day of the week. However, in 1939, the year of the outbreak of World War II, Christmas fell on a Monday and New Year’s Day fell on a Sunday. Why? See page 6.
Free Food Pantry
This is a really busy time of year for the Free Food Pantry. It gets cleaned right out several times a week. It is tough keeping up with it. Please feel free to put food in the Pantry at 1313 10 St, Invermere. It is a little white cabinet similar to the book loan ones.
Christmas baking would be a great item for the Pantry (and my house). Almost anything would be great. Frozen meat is likely appreciated. Lots of dry good, soups, pastas, snacks, powdered potatoes, rice, and any of a thousand other things that you can think of.
Cash donations are always great so I can stock it up as well. All of your generosity is greatly appreciated by more people than you could know.
Dead Battery?
If you find your vehicle unable to start due to a weak battery in the cold, try giving me a call. If I am available I will come give you a boost and see if that will help. I helped a couple people in the past and it feels good to give back a bit to the community. Many people have helped me with many things in my life.
Happy New Year!
If you are planning a New Year’
It is so sad that the main intention of the legacy media these days is to instill fear in all of us. It was so pathetic watching covid numbers get posted on every news broadcast. Sickness and death they said. “Get vaxxed or grandma will die”. “Pandemic of the unvaccinated”. “The virus stops with the vaccine”. “Natural immunity does not work”. All complete lies meant to scare us into taking an experimental, untested injection. And people couldn’t wait. They are still gaslighting us (saying the opposite of what we see in front of us). “Safe and effective”. It is neither, pretty much the opposite really, but people still buy it. “Get your kids jabbed as they are susceptible”.
Whenever I see ‘experts say’, I know I am about to hear paid propaganda designed to convince me of something. Most of the ‘experts’ find what their funders are asking for. And yet, here we are.
I hope that everyone has an amazing Christmas as the New Year will bring a lot more crap, including a huge carbon tax (another useless thing and a big lie), new gun laws and more. I won’t be surprised if they try to get vitamin D off the market as it helps with our immune systems.
I hope a few resolutions are to stand up against this tyranny and facism.

Merry Christmas
As Christmas grows nearer, I find my annual depression growing again. Commercial Christmas really sucks for me, trying to come up with gifts for family members that I never see. I have given up a bit since kidney failure in 2017. I do remember the wonder and joy of Christmas as a kid and I really hope that all the kids in the valley get

Lots of Darkness
I am joyfully awaiting the winter solstice on December 21. That is when the days begin to get longer. I think that is the solstice that
We love that Drew and I love to play in the snow as long as it is not too deep. We run around and wrestle every morning on our walk. It is fun. We also find all kinds of new scents as we plunge our snouts into the snow.
I am in love with Kaitlyn at Konig Meat & Sausage Company downtown. When we are delivering papers on Tuesday she always has the best treats saved up for us. ‘Rocky and Kaitlyn’ has a nice ring to it. Thanks to everyone in this town who treat us so well. Delivery days are amazing.
It sounds like Rob’s mom and sister are coming for a visit this week. We have never met them so it will be interesting. I doubt if they understand yet that the couch is ours and the floor will be theirs, hahaha. I doubt if they will like the untidiness of our house but that is just the way we live.
I am sure they will be bring some delicious baking and maybe even some meatloaf for Rob. That will be nice.
What Country Am I?
I am an island republic 150 km to the south of the United States. I am the largest island in the Caribbean and have 11 million inhabitants. I was claimed for Spain by Christopher Columbus in 1492.
I was sold to the U.S. in 1898 but gained independence in 1902. What country am I?

Listen Carefully
a wonderful story. I believe Bing Crosby sang it pretty well.
Christmas Charcuterie
Have you tried a charcuterie tray from Saunders Family Farm? They are amazing. There is a variety of sizes from a small snack box to a huge party tray. You can see them at their website. I highly recommend trying it out. You will be impressed.
If you want something for the holiday season, get your order in soon.

Wayne Gretzky began his hockey career with the Indianapolis Racers before joining the Edmonton Oilers in 1979.
Clearance Sale
There are not many days left until Columbia Valley Trading shuts their doors for good. Sandy and Christine are retiring after many years of serving the valley. There is not a lot of stock left but it is all very good quality and the sales are getting better by the minute. Stop in and check them out.
Shop Locally
I know that it is a drum that I beat regularly but Please Shop Local. I do realize that we can save some money by going elsewhere sometimes but that can be a bit shortsighted. That money is long gone from the valley.
Most money spent in a small business here will end up being spent at another business, and another business, and so on. It drives our local economy and supports the businesses that support all the fundraisers and initiatives in our area.

Christmas Lights
Thanks to all the folks who put the time into setting up Christmas displays in their yard. I have to admit they all look great. As always, the community of Wilmer looks great. There are also many other beautiful places. I have always loved the Dry Gulch display.
Riddliculous Answer
(From page 2) Actually, in any given single year, Christmas and New Year ways fall on different days of the week. Remember that Christmas is actually 51 weeks later in the year than New Year Day, not just one week earlier. 1939 was no different than any other year.
Great Gifts on a Budget
Treasures in the Wind is an amazing store. They have so many beautiful vintage items that will bring back memories for anyone. Things are very affordable so you can fill your gift list and still afford dinner. Treasures is at 1313 7th Ave downtown.
Pet Photos With Santa
This Saturday, December 17 you can get your pet’s photo taken with Santa at Bosley’s Pet Supplies downtown.
Frozen Canned Goods
Can you still eat canned goods that have been frozen? That is a good question. Definitely some foods don’t taste as well or lose some of their texture when frozen but that is not the question. My understanding is that things are all good until the cans have swollen and maybe started to separate at the seams. Often it has to get really cold for that to happen. So don’t be too paranoid about cans in the Pantry through the winter. Food is food.

Whiteway Open
Woohoo! Winter is officially in the valley as the Lake Windermere Whiteway is now open. The tracks are laid for skating, traditional cross-country skiing and skate skiing. It is beautiful down there when the fire pit is going and families are skating all around the Kinsmen Beach area. They have also put in a Whiteway up at Lillian Lake. That is an incredibly beautiful spot.
If you are walking out there, please be respectful of the ski tracks.
I Am This Country
(From page 4) The aboriginal population of Cuba was nearly 100% eradicated due to infectious diseases from European settlers. Just recently, the U.S. embargo on Cuba has been relaxed to allow for the exchange of imports.
Gun Grab
So Trudeau has quietly added 100s of hunting rifles to the planned gun grab. Likely your rifle is on the list. But that’s okay. As Canadians we do not fight back. It does not matter to us that nearly every single country government in history that has ever done this ended up slaughtering millions of their people. “We are different. That was in the past”. Fools.
At the same time they are quietly reducing gun penalties and releasing hard core criminals form prison (making room for maskers). The criminals will not be effected by the gun ban. Arm the criminals, disarm the law-abiding public. Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.
Great Gift
I bought my wife a wooden leg for Christmas. It wasn’t her main gift. Instead it was just a stocking stuffer.
Pretty Obvious Isn’t It?
So if anyone was keeping score, it would be ‘Conspiracy Theorists about 20, Normies 0’. It seems that nearly everything that has been predicted just keeps coming true.
What’s next? Gun grabs, climate lockdowns, digital ID and currency. More mask and vaccine mandates. You know, communism.
Where We Were
The page 6 photo shows Rocky and Drew hanging out at the Free Food Pantry at 1313 10 ST Invermere. It has been a good
support to many folks in the community.
Ice Fishing Dreams
It is almost killing me that I have not been out ice fishing yet. For years I had access to different shacks and could sit in a warm building and catch a few fish. Last year was just open air fishing with a fire pit nearby. We still got into a few fish and had lots of fun.
This year I have just got my auger tuned up and am raring to go but I am still finding myself tiring out quickly while walking in snow. I need an assistant to help haul the gear out there. Hopefully I will get out a bit during time off over the holidays.
Winter Wonderland
I must say that snow is pretty. I love looking out the window and seeing it fall. I am fortunate to have a small sidewalk for a quick shovel and some nice people who help with the driveway when I need it.
It is fun watching the kids hop on their sleds across the street. I used to love that until I busted my tailbone one year. My auger is all tuned up ice fishing is calling. Warm clothing required.
Thanks
Thanks for reading this week’s issue. I appreciate all the positive feedback I receive on the streets. Have a great week.
