Which three athletes from the 2022 Winter Olympic Games are from the Columbia Valley? (Answer on page 5)

February 10-16, 2022 Volume 20 Issue 6 Happy Valentine’s Day Well good luck to everyone in relationships for the upcoming Valentine’s Day. Love and such has never been my strongest trait but I do like to see people that are happy. My best advice is to just be sincere with your love no matter how you choose to show it.

Rockies Hockey Another strong weekend for the Columbia Valley Rockies as they took two wins from the Golden Rockets. The Rockies are in a tough battle trying to maintain first place in the division over Kimberley. The Kimberley Dynamiters visit Invermere this Friday, February 11 at 7:30 pm. After that they have only two more regular season games, including hosting Golden on February 19 to wrap up the season. It is nice to hear that the Rockies are doing so well. Get out and support them at home this weekend.

Immunity ‘Why are you only sick on weekdays?’ ‘I have a weekend immune system’.

Polar Plunge

folks. Are you registered for your Polar Plunge yet? Will you be ‘freezin’ for a reason’? It is a fundraiser for the RAD Society to help purchase adaptive recreational gear for persons with mobility issues. They already have a golfing ‘wheelchair’ that stands up the rider for their golf swing, a trailrider that allows for backcountry wheelchair hiking and other units that I am not quite on top of. I think there is a beach chair and maybe a 4x4 hiking chair. Anyways it is a very important project and everyone should be happy and proud to support it. This year’s plunge will have a couple warming huts for change rooms as well as the makeshift hot tub for warming up. Register as an individual or with a squad.

Rotary Online Bingo I believe this week’s progressive pot is over $50,000 which is the threshold that it must be given a way. Get you cards online through the Rotary Facebook page and you can enjoy a fun Friday night every week. Congratulations to the many winners in the past year.

I have had this program going for about a year and a half now. There is a cabinet at 1313 10 St. that I try to keep stocked with food for people who need a hand in the community. It is open 24 hours a day and it gets an amazing amount of use. I must thank all the folks who have been contributing to the Pantry. You are changing the world for some hungry people in your community. Good work. Sadly it gets a bit cumbersome for me so any help is incredible. So please keep up the good work or try to step it up if you have not been a contributor. Your help is needed by many people and much appreciated. Drop food off at the Pantry or get a hold of me with a donation. Let’s change the World together.

I had a stranger (nice lady) contact me about a visit while I was on dialysis last week. She turned out to be a very faithful lady who gifted me a large-print bible (which I totally need) and a nice CD that glorifies God. She also put her hand on mine and offered an amazing healing prayer. God is the ultimate healer by the way. It was an incredible experience and has opened my heart a bit more to receiving what God can offer me.

My thoughts change a lot on writing days. I tell myself to take it easy and try not to be offensive. You know, maybe a couple mild articles against the main narrative and then search hard for good, positive things to write about. I am sorry if my thoughts and feelings don’t match up with yours. I guess I am a bit of a poop disturber lately. But I am easily distracted so I flip around the internet watching videos as a break from writing. But then I come across a video of two RCMP arresting a little old man for honking his horn in support of Canadian freedom. They handcuff him and drag him away with a bunch of folks filming and questioning the scene. For honking his horn. The cops clearly state that. This is our new Canada. Some now call it Chinada as we seem to be on the edge of a full blown communist dictatorship. I can’t remember the last time I felt our government did something that was beneficial to the citizens. When I bought my bus it came with a pole and Canadian flag to set up while in the campsite. I am always proud to put it up. But now if you have a Canadian flag on your vehicle you will get yelled at and fingered by a few people. I can’t quite understand why people hate the concept of others having freedom of choice or speech. Personally I am very excited to see so many Canadian people and flags out. Whether you like the convoy or not, it has certainly unified a lot of Canadians. That is exciting. God keep our land, glorious and FREE and Oh Canada, I will stand on guard for thee.

I love to sleep. Drew here for Rocky (and Watson, rest his soul). When you see us out and about, I am the peppy one with the tail straight up and I almost prance when I walk. I love to run around and play and I am happy to chase anything. It is amazing what a difference a year makes. Rocky is 10 (I am 9 years old) and he just seems more serious and laid back most of the time. Sometimes he picks it up and loves to play. We have a lot of fun together. But mostly he likes to explore and sniff things. He finds lots of places that need to be marked so I make sure to go pee on top of his pee. Back to the sleep thing. Both of us can nap at a moment’s notice. We need to be ready and rested for any upcoming activities at all times. Did you know that Bassetts have the highest endurance of any other dog breed? We are not fast but we are hearty. I like to have my blanky over me when I am sleeping. Even my head is underneath. I stay in bed longer than Rob and Rocky so usually after an hour or two (I can’t keep track) Rob comes back in and lays down beside me for hugs and loving. I am very warm so he cuddles right up. Some people say dogs don’t like hugs but I sure do. I love them. Rocky is healing up well form his surgeries. Six lumps removed and the stitches come out this week. It seems to have helped his mobility a bit. It is nice to have him back at 100%.

Strong Immunity Have I ever mentioned that we should all be taking vitamins, exercising, resting, drinking lots of water and eating healthy? It seems like I write that nearly every issue. I must be way off track as the health officials say cover your face, lock yourself down and let us inject you with an experiment. Seems like they have our best interest in mind. Sorry if I was misleading. Have you noticed how many ‘sudden’ deaths are occurring post vaccine? Me neither.

9 Hours, 38 Minutes I have a friend (really I do) who is tracking the hours of daylight as they have been increasing since December 21. Today there is 9 hours and 38 minutes of daylight. We are headed towards March 21 (first day of spring) when the equinox takes place. That is equal daylight and darkness at 12 hours each. The solstice on June 21 gives us the maximum hours of daylight.

Special Guests It has been a wonderful past week of dialysis as I have had a few visitors stop by, including a couple brand new ones. It makes me feel great that some readers are receiving my calls for help and starting to respond. I cannot explain what a lifechanger it is for me to have someone sit with me during a dialysis run. It is a long and lonely time when done alone. A huge thanks to Don, Dave, Tanya, Heather, Constance, Jen, Duane and more. Some of them have connected with each other as well. Don’t forget about me folks.

3. Spanish

I am not sure what is happening down at the Thrift Store lately. I am not vaccinated so that makes me ineligible for services from the Thrift Store, the arena, community centre and more. The hospital here really treats me like crap, as if I am a virus. It is pathetic and makes me not want to pay taxes for services I cannot use. Fear of a famous flu has changed a lot of things. Back to the Thrift Store. You are an essential service and many people are suffering due to your support of these illegal mandates. Other thrift stores in the province are not discriminating like this. It is a decision made locally and it is pathetic (in my opinion anyway). Who is making these decisions?

Beautiful Smiles It seems that I am starting to see a few more smiling faces out and about these days. It is a beautiful thing.

Still Masking?

Where We Were

I am trying to figure it all out. The World Health Organization has clearly stated that masks and lockdowns are not effective. Every study with masks has shown they do nothing to stop a virus. The vaccines are supposed to get us back to normal but strangely they have not. Many countries have dropped all mandates as they are ineffective. Yet here we are in Invermere and it seems nearly every vaccinated person wearing masks all day. It makes no sense. If the vaccines are effective, why the masks? If masks are effective, why the vaccines? If you are vaxxed and masked, why does it matter what any other person is doing? Are you not safe and protected? This is a clown world with masks instead of makeup. The Science.

The page 6 photo shows the hounds and myself off to check out the local rally in support o the convoy. Rocky is good but Drew has a bit of a concerned look on his face.

What Year Was It? (From page 4) During 1977, the Apple Computer company incorporated, Miami had its only snowfall in history, the first fibre optic cable was used for telephones and rings were discovered around Uranus (ha ha).

We Are So Lucky When the sun is rising in the East, Mount Nelson to the West is one of the first spots to light up. It actually glows with the energy, especially now that it is completely snow-covered. The other morning I met a gentleman from Germany who was searching for the perfect vantage point for a Mt. Nelson photo. He said it was very majestic. We get the same effect on the Fairmont Range in the evenings. As the sun sets in the West, the mountains can take on a gorgeous golden glow. It really teaches me the incredible action of science and nature. I have learnt quite a bit about visibility lately. Some days Mount Nelson seems like it is right on my deck while other days it is invisible even though the sky seems fairly clear.
