The Kinsmen Snow Golf tournament is this Saturday, January 16. This is an incredible event, unmatched by anything that I have seen. They mark out 18 holes on Windermere Lake down near Kinsmen Beach to set up for a shotgun start, scramble-style golf tournament. Your day of golf is totally dependent on the weather conditions. The balls can be bouncing on ice, burying in snow or anything in between. It can be warm and sunny, dark and cold or anywhere in between. Teams bring out atvs, etc. as ‘golf carts’. Some are pulling trailers with bbqs, fire pits, couches, chairs, music and more. Get your entry tickets at The Station Neighbourhood Pub. The cost is $35/ person and everyone gets a prize. Golf starts at noon but you must be preregistered.
There is a live play this weekend being performed by the David Thompson Secondary School senior drama class. It is actually three one-act plays including one written and directed by DTSS student Matty Helmer. All three plays are comedy so it will be a nice, entertaining evening. The drama group always does a great job with their productions. The shows are this Friday and Saturday, January 15 and 16, beginning at 7 pm. Advance tickets are $8 for adults ($3 for students) at the Blue Dog Café.

Monday Nights Live This coming Monday, January 18, the Horsethief Creek Pub & Eatery in Radium is hosting ‘Open Mic’. ‘Open Mic’ happens on the third Monday of every month with live bands playing on the other Mondays. It is a happening place on Mondays for sure. “Open Mic’ is lots of fun as there is so much hidden talent out there. The place fills up with lots of people and some sweet melodies. Check it out.
