Bad Comedy
I never tell a joke about lazy people. They just never work.
Easter Treats
Pharmasave in Invermere has a good selection of Easter treats for the upcoming holiday.
Check out the in-store ‘Corner Boutique’ for some beautiful gift ideas or as a treat for yourself.
The Home Care department downstairs offers mobility aides and more for rental or purchase. You will heal better with the proper equipment.
Hopkins Easter Activities
Next weekend brings Good Friday, April 7. That is the perfect day for the Adult Easter Egg Hunt out at Hopkins Harvest It has become a great annual tradition. Check it out at 5 pm I believe.
On the Sunday, April 9 they have a Seafood Festival happening. Sounds pretty tasty.
They will also be running a Vendor’s Market on the Sunday. It is always nice to support these local folks.
Good Deeds Day
This Sunday, April 2 is ‘Good Deeds Day’. It is a global day that unites people from 93 countries to do good deeds for the benefit of others and the planet.
Beginning in 2007 with 7,000 people, it has grown to more than 1.5 million participants last year. ‘Do good, think good, see good, talk good and you will feel a goodness that will spread amongst your companions’. Every single person can do something good, be it large or small, to improve the lives of others and positively change the world. And hopefully it will feel so good for folks that every day will become a good deeds day.

Huge Thanks
Thank you very much to the members of the community who have supported me through the coin collection boxes and the Givesendgo fundraiser account. I am starting to recover now and those funds got me through some tough times.
A special thanks to the businesses that displayed the collection boxes including AG Valley Foods, Sobeys, Hopkins Harvest and Kootenay Coffee Works. This is a giving, healing and caring community.
Riddliculous
What is always found in the middle of nowhere?
What word starts with an ‘E’ and ends with an ‘E’ but only has one letter in it? What goes on and on with an ‘I’ in the middle?

Floating Bridge
Similar to crossing Lake Okanagan near Kelowna, the M.O.T. is considering a floating bridge across Lake Windermere. It will be a direct link from Invermere to Windermere saving 10 minutes of travel time.
“Residents have been complaining about the loss of the ‘ice highway’ this winter and we believe we have come up with a perfect solution”. The bridge will be open year round. “We are still working out details as there will be an issue with boat traffic on the lake during the summers”.
“This is just another April Fool’s story,” said the minister in charge.
Hospice
I have to thank the Hospice Society as they send volunteers to sit with me during dialysis. Five of them have filled a visiting schedule that makes a huge difference in my sessions. My crib skills are improving and they let me rant a little bit while rarely agreeing with my thoughts.
I believe they have a Gala and a Golf fundraiser coming up shortly. It is a good group to support.
Tick Season
Yes they are out there already. A friend reported two in his family already. Ticks tend to cling to the long grass and hop onto our clothes as we brush by. Be careful on your walks and check over your dogs often.

Life does not seem to slow down much for myself and many other folks. Busy, busy, busy, trying to get everything done and keep a tiny bit of cash in the bank. Keeping up with household chores such as laundry and cleaning, trying to do a little bit for the community and just trying to find time to lay back a bit can really fill up a week. I guess for me, making sure that I find some joy in everything that I do is a huge t mind being busy if I am enjoying what I am doing (maybe not cleaning). It is just that panic feeling when I have an overwhelming amount of things to get done that stress can hit. I really dislike stress as it is an unnecessary thought process that seriously affects our health. When I am feeling overwhelmed I like to just go lay down and hope for sleep to take it away. The sleep never comes easy and when I do wake up, the issues are still around. Often a couple more things have

So it has actually been 9 weeks since my femur surgery. I spent a lot of that time with my leg up in a recliner chair as I was not allowed to put any weight on it. But for the last couple of weeks I have been allowed to put more and more weight on it. Now I can cruise along pretty good with the walker and have been doing some with just a cane. I do tire quickly. They say it will be a few more weeks before I am fully recovered which is about when they say I should be recovered from the heart surgery last summer. Healed sounds

It is always interesting watching Rob scrambling to get the paper done on Mondays. It goes to print Tuesday morning and has to see the proof on Monday evening. It seemed like he had a good jump on it this week but he is also feeling like he can walk a bit more so he is trying to get us out a bit for some short walks. Sadly that tuckers him out and he has to get his feet up a bit. Suddenly he will be napping. So here we are, 5 am Monday, watching the scramble. Our front deck faces south so it is incredibly warm out there. We spend a good part of the day lying on the old suede couch. It has been a nice spring already. The snow in our yard disappeared yesterday and most of the walking spots in this area are drying up. There are lots of scents left from the winter poops though.
I hope all you dog owners are picking up the poop piles these days. We have come across some pretty disgusting spots out there. In the bush is one thing but on paths or around playgrounds is a different story. Kind of pathetic and disrespectful, I would say.
With the snow melting our front yard is a bit messy. It has been a long winter without Rob taking us for many walks. Friends have helped but not always enough so the yard is pretty handy sometimes. It is like a mine field of poop, soon to be cleaned up as things dry out a bit more. Please clean up after your pooches when out walking in public areas.

Trust in the Lord
Are you willing to trust in the Lord today? If you are, Jesus tells us in John 14:27. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Free Food Pantry
If you happen to be cleaning out your cupboards and don’t know what to do with all of that food that you don’t need, drop it off at the Free Food Pantry at 1313 10 St. in Invermere. Or if you see a great deal while out grocery shopping and you buy a bit extra. More and more people are needing a leg up on occasion and the Pantry allows them 24 hr, 7 day access.
It is dependent on you, the huge-hearted reader and community-minded citizen to continue to fill it with food. Thanks.
Canadian Sports Trivia Answer
In 1998, Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield to combine the world heavyweight titles and become the last undisputed world champion in the heavyweight boxing category.
Bee Food
Dandelions, considered a weed by many lawn junkies are actually the first food available for the bees in the spring. Many bees are killed by the poison on the ‘weeds’. Bee enthusiasts ask that we do not spray or drag our dandelions until other blossoms are out.
Bees are very important pollinators that help our gardens and fruit trees produce food.

Is there such a thing? I have never been in retail but I often wonder what the competitive goal is between stores. Do you hope that every store does well or are you willing to excel at the expense of other businesses?
Saunders Family Farm
I love the jam they make at Saunders, now located in the industrial park. Plus their daily lunches are amazing.
Did I mention the charcuterie? I hardly need to as it is loved by so many folks.
Like Minds
Are you feeling a bit lost with all that has been happening in our world lately? We are being forced to believe things that make no sense at all.
Come join the Columbia Valley Freedom Lovers for a casual, friendly open discussion and potluck. There will be a keynote speaker discussing the ‘Ethnic and Geopolitical History of Ukraine’, leading to the current conflict.
That will be followed by food and fellowship. You do not have to agree with everything but you might find it interesting. The event is this Sunday, April 2, 2-4 pm at the Lion’s Hall.
It Was That Year
(From page 4) In 1967, Montreal hosted Expo to help celebrate Canada’s centennial. A house cost $14,250, average annual income was $7,300, minimum wage was $1.40/hr and a new car was worth $2,750. The Toronto Maple Leafs won their last Stanley Cup, Pamela Anderson was born, Vivian Leigh died and the World’s first heart transplant took place.
Dam Wrong!
Several lobby groups have convinced the government to look at building a dam just south of Golden on the Columbia River wetlands. The shape of the valley would allow for a huge water reservoir that can be accessed to sell water to the United States. Of course several hundred homes will have to be relocated.
At the same time, the hydroelectric dam would provide power that could also be sold to the south and the lake would become an incredible fishery. Parts of the ‘Columbia Reservoir’ would still have speed and horsepower restrictions to protect the waterway.
Construction could start on April 1st. Happy April Fool’s Day.
No Mistakes Were Made
There is a poem on the Internet titled ‘No Mistakes were Made’ and it talks about how the truth is coming out on many of the pandemic issues and the ‘experts’ are ad-
mitting making mistakes or the ‘science is changing’. It seems like many of the outcomes are in line with ideas put forward by certain small town coffee papers and other crazy tinfoil hatters.
Regardless of that, consider this; what if no mistake were made and it has all been part of a larger, evil plan, to dismantle everything that was great about Canada? That is a crazy one, hey?
Where We Were
The page six photo shows Rocky and Drew exploring a field out near Fairmont. Notice the beautiful mountains in the background. This is a beautiful valley.
Dog Walks
Getting out for some fresh air with the dogs is one of my favourite pastimes. It has been a tough few weeks with the cracked femur and depending on others for the walks. I actually get a bit jealous watching them head out the door. Pretty soon I will be able to go for it. The walker is mostly just for balance now so maybe today we will go up the street a little ways. I am still a bit weak and tired but I have to get building my strength up.
