October 1-6, 2015 Volume 13 Issue 40 Turkey Buffet Dinner This Wednesday, September 30, between 5 and 8 pm, get out to the Windermere Valley Golf Course for a Buffet Turkey Dinner from Annie’s Grill. The cost is only $16.95 for all you can eat. Anne Riches and her team always put on a great spread and her turkey dinners are incredible. This will be a good preview for your Thanksgiving dinner. There is still lots of golf left at Windermere Valley. They are usually open until the snow flies. Book your turkey dinner or your tee time at 250-342-3004.
Alcohol Many dieticians will tell you that alcohol will make you fat. Personally I find that it makes me lean… against tables, chairs walls and other things.
Columbia Valley Oktoberfest This Saturday, October 3, is the Columbia Valley Oktoberfest, a downtown family event hosted by the Invermere Legion on 13th street from 11 am to 5 pm. Enjoy live music by the Dandelions and also Sheberdean, an indoor farmer’s mar-
ket, beer gardens and a kids zone complete with bouncy castles. There will be a costume contest (lederhosen galore), a beard competition, a downtown scavenger hunt and a Masskrugstemmen (beer stein holding contest). The Legion will also be serving up bratties and more tasty food fare. Join the community for Oktoberfest, Saturday.
Rockies Hockey The Columbia Valley Rockies are coming off a nice win against the visiting 100 Mile House Wranglers on Sunday afternoon (51). It was a great way to finish off the month of September. This Friday, October 2, they host the Fernie Ghostriders at 7:30 pm. This is the last home game until October 23 (nearly 3 weeks) as they are on the road for most of this month. So get down to the Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena and cheer them on this Friday. You and your voice can make a huge difference to the players on the ice. Plus it is exciting, hard-working, fast, tough hockey so it is fun to be there watching and participating.
