Free Frozen Dinners There is a program in Cranbrook and Kimberley called Free Meals 365, or something like that. It has stemmed from the free breakfast pay it forward program started by a single gentleman, Paul. Anyways, they prepare amazing frozen dinners and distribute them for free to hungry folks. The program would love to expand to the Columbia Valley. They will provide a bunch of frozen meals if anyone has a large freezer that we could use to start this off. Contact The Valley Peak if you can help or have any ideas.

Sorry, I made an error the other week. I stated that used motor oil could be dropped off at Canadian Tire but they have had to discontinue that program due to misuse. I am not sure where we can drop it off as a couple calls have given no results. The answer I received is we are supposed to take it to where we purchased it.

School Buses So school will be back in session as of this coming week. That means there will be lots of kids walking around the school zones and elsewhere. Please be careful as a driver. It also means we will be seeing school buses on the road. Please do not pass a school bus in either direction when it is stopped and picking up or dropping off kids. The bus will have a stop sign displayed and it is the law to stop in all lanes of traffic in either direction. Care about the kids out there.

2020 JACUZZI HOT TUBS Now in Stock! Come and See!
Just a couple random thoughts this week. Firstly, thanks to all of the support I get from my readers. I often wonder if I am doing the right thing when I write about some controversial topics. It is interesting because I will get one or two notes saying that I am a ‘science-denier’ or a ‘racist’ because I do not agree with everything happening in our world. Am I afraid of the covid virus? No, not at all and I have at least 2 very serious underlying conditions. I would hope that sick people stay a bit isolated and that no one is coughing at each other. A lot of people are very afraid, due to what they see and hear on the television. For me, my life is already restricted enough with cancer and kidney failure. I don’t really want any more unsocial distancing. I want my old crib partner back during my dialysis. Statistics are now showing that deaths due to covid restrictions are up to 14 times more than deaths from covid, yet our ‘leaders’ keep adding restrictions. A total of 204 BC covid deaths so far compared to more than 150 other deaths every single day in the province. I am a bit disappointed in the lack of critical thinking out there. Some things are so obviously corrupt and crazy but we still just follow along. The inconsistency and the hypocrisy is incredible. Sorry to bring that forward.

I must say that is a great name for this service. I have seen Heather a few times for acupuncture and other treatments and I find it very helpful. You know how you dread some medical appointments? Watson’s Waddle Another great week in the world of Watson (that’s me, a Bassett Hound). I get to go on at least 20 walks every week. Usually 3 or 4 every day, some short, some are longer. Walks with Rob are quite a bit shorter than they used to be. We usually just loop the block or walk up to the Community Garden. Plus he stops to chat with everyone he meets so that really slows us down. Although it is me who sets the pace on our walks. My nose tells me a new story almost everywhere I turn so I really enjoy taking my time as we walk. Intense exercise is for the birds, not the old hounds. My friends Tracy and Jen take me on much longer walks and I get to meet or hang out with a few other dogs. None are as handsome as me but I still get jealous if they are taking away any of my attention. I get some great nature walks, wetlands, beaches, hiking trails and more. It is always fun to discover and explore a new area. I hope all you dogs are getting out for some walks these days.

An easy one. Michael Jackson was severely burned while filming a Pepsi commercial, Pierre Trudeau retired, replaced as Prime Minister by John Turner who was then badly defeated by Brian Mulroney with 211 seats, the strongest Canadian majority government ever, and Vanessa Williams resigned her Miss USA crown due to nude Penthouse photos. Marc Garneau became the first Canadian in space aboard Challenger, Marvin Gaye passed away, Avril Lavigne was born and the AIDs virus was discovered in the United States. What year was it? (George Orwell wrote about it). See page 7.

So I have my old school bus in my driveway. It is pretty cool. My old trailer was 26 feet long and seemed pretty big. This thing is 42 feet long. I only need three things to make this thing work as a mobile dialysis unit. Firstly I need to get it insured. I am going to have to scrimp and save for a bit to pull that off. The Valley Peak is not all that lucrative. Next I need a good, reliable generator. My dialysis machine needs some electricity to operate. Actually I only need about 2,000 watts or better. Again, my budget is the limiting factor so if you have one you want to give away or lend out, that would be great. Thirdly I need special supplies to make the dialysis machine mobile. Those are ordered and on their way. I will have to do a trial run in my driveway before anything else. I am very excited.
Canadian Sports Trivia Answer The Vancouver Canucks have been to the Stanley Cup Finals 3 times, losing to the Boston Bruins 4 games to 3 in 2011, the New York Rangers 4-3 in 1994 and 4-0 to the New York Islanders in 1982.

So the Radium Roundabout is in full service now. I have not been through it yet but I have been through roundabouts before. Basically, a vehicle already in the roundabout has the right of way. Using your signal lights is very important to keep traffic flowing. Also we must yield to pedestrians. I am sure there is a lot more to it and you can find information just by googling on the web. Always be careful on the road.

Protests Not much of this is shown on the mainstream media but there are more and more worldwide protests regarding the covid restrictions put on the public. Hundreds of thousands marched in England, Germany, France and more. There were even some Canadians in Quebec and in Ottawa. The CDC has admitted that 94% of their ‘covid deaths’ came from folks with 2 or more health issues that were the primary factors in their passing. That means only 6% are actually covid deaths. Yet here we are with rights being removed and restrictions being added. We have definitely learned how easy it is to control populations with fear.

Too Much Tech? Do you know anyone’s phone number? Or do you just swipe on their name and your phone calls them for you? Times have really changed during my life. I used to have to know all my friend’s numbers and there was this phone book thingy that you could use to find numbers. Anyways, it is important that you do know a couple numbers. You may lose your phone (or be in jail haha) and need to get a hold of someone for support using a different phone. Just a thought.

Saving the Lonely I live alone. All by myself. And every second day I go through a pretty intricate health procedure. One that could have very dire consequences if I screw up. That is why I really appreciate Jen from Kootenay Kritters. She shows up every morning that I am on dialysis to check on Watson and myself. But I am not special as she has 4 or 5 other friends who live on their own and she keeps track of all of us. If you have a neighbour or friend living alone, please check in on them once in a while. Make the world a better place.
What Year Was It (From page 4) In 1984, a house cost $86,000, a car was $9,000 and the average annual income was $21,600. The Soviet Union boycotted the Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games, the Macintosh Personal Computer went on the market, Beverley Hills Cop was released and the first compact disc was sold.
Lost Colours I told you I finally found my highlighters. You can mark my words.

Rise and Shine I have been a fairly early riser lately. I am much more productive in the morning and I love the walks with Watson before there are too many people out and about. When I wake up I like to look at how much daylight there is and guess what time it might be. I rarely set my alarm except to remind of something. Never to wake up in the morning. I just wake up. Dialysis takes a couple hours of prep so I get up around 6 am to get on the machine at 8 am and done by 1:30 pm. It is hard being functional that early in the morning but the dog walks are beautiful.

Canadian Corruption ‘Rules for thee, but never me’, seems to be the motto of our federal government. These folks have been caught stealing millions (billions) of dollars and constantly awarding ‘contracts’ to their friends and families. How are they not in jail? They just say ‘sorry’ or maybe resign to get rehired later. Meanwhile, average, lawabiding citizens lose their homes or go to jail for not being able to afford some random new tax. So many great things could have been done with all of that money but instead it is all gone into the pockets of millionaires and other corrupt governments.
