The architecture of 75 terraces derives from the urban contextual footprint. It is the figure ground that initiates the base of the development. This idea enables the development to integrate with the surrounding without abrupt change to the exiting milieu and social infrastructure. The base is designed to submerge seamlessly from the groundas though that it is part of the existing urban architecture of Jelatek. As the base rises higher, the floor plate metamorphose spirally like the formation of the white sails on a ship that disolves in the sky. This configuration creates different building orientations that reflect traces of the existing context while simultaneously reconstructing new meaning and character to Jalan Jelatek and Kuala Lumpur as whole.

Ecologically conscious living takes many forms. Incorporation of natural light and views into a home design is a way to enhance the bond with the surrounding environment. In addition, use of sustainable materials and renewable energy source is becoming more prevalent in new homes. In order to ensure extensive views of Genting Highland hills from all areas for the proposed semi-detached house we have suggested double frontage view for the new homes.

SAUJANA K L I A | A JS R | P R OPOSAL Involve in design proposal for 6 typical housing unit - Saujana KLIA will give you a unique life and a strategic location, complete and efficient. The first phase of the township’s residential properties — 284 units of 6m by 21m double-storey terraced houses. The homes come in two designs, the Marylis (Phase 1A) and Celosia (Phase 1B), and will occupy 12.14ha of the township, with a total GDV of RM130mil. A number of highways will connect the Saujana KLIA township to the rest of the Klang Valley, namely the Elite, Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP), Kesas, Mex and SKVE Expressway. Surrounding commercial and educational centres include the Multimedia University (MMU) and Xiamen University, as well as IOI City Mall Putrajaya

Incharged in from early stage of design ( 3D

+ Floor Plan )

Inspired by the breezy and light-dappled plantation homesteads of pre-Independence Malaya, this house is characterised by double-storey wrap around verandahs , rhythmised by columns and louvres reminiscent of a more leisurely past. Meanwhile the interior design of this bungalow offers balance for mind and body. The master bedroom come with family lounge, walk in wardrobes and private balconies.Open plan dining and living rooms fully utilise the use of space while a dry and wet kitchen offers more room to create meals for their loved ones.

O CULUS S U P E R M E D I A | AJSR | PROPOSAL

A gathering space was design at the central wing area to shows the magnificent 4 red ‘Oculus’ pods for workers and also visitors to enjoy and having their wifi spot. The design was to dispense with the traditional lobby approach. Instead, we merged our entrances into one grand lobby shared equally by the occupants that can fundamentally changes the way people interact with each other in what essentially becomes a public space in a private building. It will also function as a supporting space for people to gather and to have meetings.

PR IV ATE B UNGAL OW IN IPOH FL OOR PL AN + 3D The site is situated in the suburb area 20 minutes away from the historical city of Ipoh, facing an open field overlooking the skyline of the city on the West direction. Working in this site context and together on responding to the strong straits eclectic and British colonial characterised architecture of the city, the concept of courtyard house is adapted. With such traditional concept, a contemporary approach is then taken to develop the design not only to tackle the current environmental issues, but also to face the ongoing social issue and to reflect the raising cultural issue

10

Re-look into the past and re-interprete traditional courtyard house in a contemporary manner. “The main difference between contemporary design to modern design is, contemporary does not aim for aesthetically successful but rather understanding the environmental, social and cultural issues happening at this current time and to reflect them through the development of the design, the result should be something provocative in the mind of the habitants.”

And like before Core Design Workshop, the design arm of Core Design Gallery undertook the challenging task of designing and implementing of the project

12

REFURBI S H M E N T | C OR E D ESIGN GALLERY |

The entire 2 storey floor space was stripped down to its core structure including the partition walls that separated the two units, creating a refreshingly new open plan space. Selective upper floor slabs were then punched through creating voids around, allowing the natural light to reach the lower floor and interestingly turning the upper floor into a suspended platform, a space of striki ng contrast to its lower floor. “Taking the design of art gallery space to another level, to create 2 different spaces for the ultimate art experience; an atmospheric art museum for the lower floor posing a more conventional approach where the viewers can be comfortably indulging in the art on the walls; whilst the upper floor space acts as a floating stage where the art viewers are enveloped by the art that surrounds them.

The proposal intends to accentuate a seamless connectivity between the pedestrian network of Jalan Parameswara and Jalan Merdeka which at present already houses a high volume of public movement. The reprogramming of the Dataran becomes a gesture that shall promote and activate the spaces to become an active space for events, meetings and also as a landmark as a historical site.
