Year 8 French and Spanish Module 1 - My portrait This is the first unit in the Year 8 French and Spanish courses. It aims to challenge students by adding more details and complexity to what they have already covered. At the end of this unit, students will be able to greet people in a variety of registers and situations, describe themselves and others in both spoken and written form, understand and correctly spell, identify masculine and feminine adjectival agreements, and use a variety of opinions. French and Spanish Module 2 – My family and other animals This is the second unit in Year 8, taught during the second half of the Autumn term. This unit moves students from introducing themselves and individuals onto introducing their family members. They will use a lot of the same grammar and vocabulary used in the previous unit to describe people, but they will be using more complex grammar in the form of the third person singular. It also encourages students to transfer vocabulary learnt previously into new yet familiar contexts. New language content • • • •

At the end of this unit, students will be able to describe their close family members (age, name, appearance) and their pets and other animals. They should also be able to describe the families and pets of others. French and Spanish Module 3 - House and Home This is the third unit in Year 8, taught during the first half of the Spring term. This unit moves on from introducing family members onto introducing the student’s house and local area. They will use a lot of the same grammar used in the previous unit to describe people, but they will be using more complex grammar in the form of the third person singular and plural. It also encourages them to transfer vocabulary learnt previously into new yet familiar contexts. New language content • types of houses • rooms • furniture
At the end of this unit, students will be able to describe their house and talk about their bedroom.
