Dear Parents and Carers, It was lovely to see everyone back on Monday; I hope you all had a fantastic break. I can’t believe that already we are starting the last half term of the year and planning and preparing in readiness to welcome a new cohort of Reception in September. I am sure the time will go very quickly and, since this will prove to be a busy half term, I do advise that you note any key dates highlighted at the end of each week’s newsletter. The children have enjoyed the start of their new topics. Information sheets have been put in your child’s bag, which give a few suggestions and ideas on how you can support your child at home. Safeguarding Children As part of their curriculum, the children learn how to keep themselves safe. The following website has been set up by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) to offer parents and schools advice on how to raise safeguarding awareness with children. There is a notable section called ‘The Underwear Rule’ which is of particular support and guidance to parents. The website also offers advice regarding ‘online safety’ and how to obtain support or advice regarding the safeguarding of children. www.nspcc.org.uk

Please continue to upload and share any great learning moments with your child at home. It is important that your child’s work includes learning steps from home and school to demonstrate their understanding and development. We are especially trying to capture quality independent writing pieces this half term; it would be great if you could upload any great examples on Tapestry and then send the writing piece into school so that we can celebrate the work in our class writing galleries. To gain a better understanding of the Early Learning Goals, they are available for you to view on the school website under the Community Tab and Resources for Parents

As a suggested activity to support at home, you could gather some facts about Williams in preparation for the coming weeks. Labelling of Clothes Now that the Reception children get changed in school for PE lessons, we have noticed that an increased number of clothing items are getting mixed up, lost and sometimes going home with the wrong children. We are lucky to have such lovely parents that quickly notice and return items that don’t belong to their child. To help us get the right items back to everyone, please make sure every item of clothing is labelled with your
Cake Sale Thank you once again for all your kind cake donations and for coming along at the end of last half term to help us raise some money. I am delighted to say that everything was sold and we managed to raise an amazing £331! We look forward to holding similar fund raising events in the future. Thank you so much for your contined support.
PE Lessons in Reception As part of your child’s learning and demonstrating a ‘good level of development’ for their age, they must be able to dress and undress themselves. This will also help them as they move up to Year 1 in September. This term, on Mondays, the children are expected to come to school in their normal school uniform and will need to bring their PE kit with them to change into for their afternoon lesson. They will remain in their PE kit for the rest of the day, bringing their school uniform home in their bag. Please ensure that every item of clothing is clearly labelled with your child’s name. There is now a lost property box in the main reception area for any items found around the school, or for you to drop off any items that your child may have taken home by mistake. INA Newsletter 3
Class Ambassadors Every half term we award two children from each class the honour of being the class ambassador. Each class teacher has chosen two children from their class to represent them over the course of the half term, to welcome visitors to their class and explain some of their learning to them, along with helping the staff with other special jobs. A purple pin badge will be presented to the children in assembly which will need to be worn on their uniform every day. Certificates will be given to the children who have represented their class last half term and we thank them for their work in their role. Important reminders The Primary uniform policy is on the website under the primary tab and ‘policies’. • We expect every child to be in full uniform every day with their top button done up • Please label every item of clothing with your child’ name, including PE kits, and also check from time to time as names can fade through washing items. • One pair of plain stud earrings can be worn. • Nail polish is not allowed. • Jewellery is not permitted. • Long hair for both boys and girls must be tied back. Hair decorations must be small and plain. • Please provide your child with a water bottle every day and make sure it is labelled with their name (water only, no fruit juice). • School starts at 8.45am, it is important that your child arrives on time every day so that the teachers can start the lesson promptly. The school gate will be open from 8.25am and will close at 8.45am.
Breakfast and Afterschool Club - Price Changes from September Breakfast is available each day from 7.45am and will cost £2.50 per day from September. The children enjoy a range of cereals, toast and different topping, juice or milk and fruit. Any child attending must be brought to the main reception area by 8.20am at the latest. After School Club runs from 3.45pm – 6.00pm (3.00pm – 6.00pm on Tuesdays) and will cost £5.50 per hour from September. The children enjoy a range of snacks each evening and a variety of games and activities.

Jaskaran Singh– Scholar of the Week (for trying hard and using his sounds in writing.) ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance is a crucial factor in students’ educational development and ability to achieve their full potential.
"We build too many walls and not enough bridges.” Isaac Newton BRIDGES are habits of mind or learning characteristics that develop a pupil's character and learning power and enable him/her to grow into a well-rounded individual and resilient learner. There are seven BRIDGES habits that we will be working on, which will rotate on a weekly cycle throughout the year. The BRIDGES habit of the week will always be introduced at the beginning of the week during the Monday assembly and reinforced throughout the week across the curriculum. Each class teacher will award a certificate to a pupil who they feel has demonstrated the BRIDGES focus for the week. Each week we will update you on the BRIDGES habit that will be introduced in the coming week and offer some top tips on how to reinforce the habit at home too. Please also refer to the Primary BRIDGES wheel above. Week commencing 13th June – Emotional Intelligence Emotional Intelligence comprises seven dispositions: Empathy and Listening, Sociability and Collaboration, Openness, Reflectiveness, Understanding
At School: • At school we always remind the children to treat others in the way that they would like to be treated in return. • At school we talk about having good listening skills and stress that we must look at the person who is talking to us to show respect for them and that we are listening to them properly. • During every lesson, the children are encouraged to develop their sociability by talking to their talk partner; where children find this difficult, an adult will sit and help facilitate paired talk. During the course of the year the children will be moved around and will be encouraged to have different reading partners, maths partners etc. • We discuss the importance of working together as one big team or family at school and stress that we need to take care of everybody – we use the phrase ‘kind hands, kind feet’ to remind children that we do not hurt others. • When a child hurts someone or makes a poor behaviour choice, it is important that they reflect on their behaviour and, if another person is involved, that they apologise to them. • Through wider reading and research, the children are able to extend their understanding of the world around them, reflecting on what makes things different and what are the common threads through life. • Though reading stories, the children can develop their skills of empathy through their comprehension of the characters, their motivations etc.
At Home: Having consistent boundaries between home and school is very important. Talk to your child about the importance of not hurting or hitting other children and that we need to treat everyone kindly and respectfully. We know that you have equally high expectations of your child at home and working in partnership has great strength in supporting your child to make good choices each day.

Cake Sale A big thank you to everyone who was able to support the Cake Sale on Friday in various different ways, either by donating delicious cakes for us to sell, or by coming along and buying the cakes to take away. We look forward to updating you on how much money we managed to raise shortly after half term. A huge thank you to Ms Ashton and Ms Palray for their organisation and setting up of the event – well done everyone! All funds raised will go towards enhancing the children’s outside learning environment.
