Southern Entrance
We would like to remind parents and carers that the gate at the southern entrance will be locked at 08:23 each morning. Students arriving after this time should enter via the main entrance in Cricklefield Place.
Safeguarding The welfare and safety of our students is our priority. We do everything possible to ensure our students’ safety, both within the school community and outside of school, including working with relevant agencies to address any issues related to child protection. Students are informed of who they should go to should they have a concern about their own safety or the safety of others. At INA, all staff have regular safeguarding training to ensure that they are able to meet their statutory responsibilities. Dear Parents and Carers, As you know, we have been shortlisted for the prestigious TES Secondary School of the Year Award. Last week, Ms Alibhai and Ms May were lucky enough to be invited to afternoon tea at the Houses of Parliament where they enjoyed meeting the other nominees. See the photos below. We will find out the results next Friday evening at the awards ceremony attended by the Secondary SLT team.

Our GCSE exams come to end on Friday this week. We have been incredibly impressed with the level of focus and resilience the Year 11s have shown and how hard they have worked during the exam period. We are very proud of them and look forward to seeing them and celebrating their success on exam results and Sixth Form enrolment day, Thursday 23rd August.

On Monday, the Art department put on a fantastic GCSE Art Exhibition, showcasing all of the Year 11 art students’ exam work and coursework. The art students produced some really impressive and inspiring works of art. Our thanks go to to Ms Suttie, Year 11 art teacher, Ms Robson, Head of ADT, and Ms Fidlin, ADT technician, for all of the work that went into this event and all of the parents and students who attended the exhibition. Many thanks also to Ms Robertson for organising the live music which was performed by INA students throughout the evening. Next Friday 22nd June is an INSET Day. There will be no school for students on this day. Finally, I would like to end by wishing Eid Mubarak to all of our families who are celebrating Eid this week! With all best wishes,

Attendance and Punctuality At Isaac Newton Academy every student is expected to maintain 100% attendance. Each form group across each year are competing to ensure they are top of the attendance league table for their year. Please ensure your child catches up with missed learning. Our pastoral and teaching staff are working hard to ensure students are taking responsibility for going to collect missed learning from their classroom teachers. Punctuality All students need to be present on site and ready for line up no later than 8.25am each day and as such we advise students to be through the school gates (side entrance and southern entrance) no later than 8.20am. The form with the highest attendance at the end of every term is awarded the attendance trophy. Each week we will update you with the year to date attendance figures as seen below. Dandapani Hindu priest and meditation teacher, Dandapani is of Sri Lankan descent. Raised in Australia, he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. At the age of twenty-three, he chose to live as a monk. Thus he followed his guru, Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami to Kauai’s Hindu Monastery in Hawaii. After being initiated as a monk he studied a wide variety of Hindu teachings that focused on meditation, yoga and spiritual philosophy. Dandapani’s spiritual journey has led him to become a master of concentration. He has worked extremely hard to develop this disposition, and below are his 3 key pieces of advice:

1. We need to learn how to concentration from a young age, this should be taught in schools. 2. We need to practise concentrating every single day. The best way to practise concentration is to simply do one thing at a time during the day, giving it all your attention no matter how simple it is. 3. Studying art develops a huge range of creative and practical dispositions, including concentration. The current Year 11 GCSE Art students demonstrated immense levels of concentration as they produced beautiful works of art over their two-day examination period. They are an inspiration to us all.

Ahmed Al-Khafaji Award (Peer Commendation Award) Ahmed was well known for being kind, for helping others and for being extremely polite. He was also someone known for his hard work and absorption; the idea, therefore, is that the winner should be someone who encapsulated one of these qualities in that week. Good Deed Feed Every week we ask teachers to nominate students who have been role models by carrying out good deeds for others and the INA community. A big well done for those who have been nominated this week! Thank you to the Year 7 students that helped at the GCSE Art exhibition – they were a great help guiding parents up to the hall and some stayed at school until around 6:45pm! Asma Mahboob 7A, Zenia Arsalan 7E, Pavan Bal 7E, Khadija Bibi 7E Laiba Khan 7E, and Gurleen Dhiman 7C for playing the piano. Big shout out to them – thank you! - Ms Robson Daniel Ekwueme 9I – who was asked to hold the door open for his form class to walk through, and at the end of line-up it was noticed that he had actually held the door open for the entire year group!
