Down Your Street Vision United by a passion for God and compassion for the world. Mission Seeking to serve the North Harrow community with the love of God.

‘Christmas Shoe Boxes’ Thanks to all who contributed to the annual Christmas shoe box appeal. Through the help of those in the local area Elmfield was able to fill up 81 shoe boxes with small toys, school supplies, sweets, and other gifts for needy children around the world.

Practice

This annual project, organised by Operation Christmas Child, sends a message of hope to children in need around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes. This is one way we all can make a small contribution in the lives of so many children who don’t have many of life’s basic necessities leave alone a choice of presents. Hopefully when we give and receive presents this Christmas we can bear in mind the majority of people in the world who will not enjoy such luxuries.

An evangelical church.

Dear friends, The final countdown towards Christmas is already at an advanced stage. You must have noticed the well lit shopping centres, pictures of beautifully wrapped presents and all the decorations that usually go with festivities around this time of the year. Yet there is the message and meaning of Christmas that often gets left out of all the elaborate celebrations that most people participate in. Why not take time this year to find out for yourself what Christmas is all about in case the message of Christmas has previously escaped your attention? Elmfield, like most other churches, will be offering you a chance to discover the true meaning of Christmas. We would like to welcome you to attend any of our Christmas events and hope that through this, Christmas will have an even more significant and rewarding experience for you this year. Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year 2009 to you all. Peter Oyugi, Senior Leader, Elmfield Church

Wet

Night

On the evening of 1st Nov 2008 around 150 people gathered at Longfield School for an exciting time of Fireworks enjoyed by all ages—at least until the fireworks started going off when the younger ones then preferred to listen to the banging sounds with their ears covered! It all began at 5.30pm with 45 minutes of food and some short games suitable for all ages. There were prizes for those brave enough to have a go at the competitions.

Some preferred to sit in the warmth of the school hall catching up with friends. The evening itself was rather cold and wet (would you believe). Nevertheless the fireworks display was superb, thanks to the ingenuity of those setting them off as well the manufacturers of modern day fireworks! Thanks to all those who made the evening such a success by coming.

Calling on Seniors! On the fourth Thursday of every month from 12.15—2.15pm Elmfield hosts ‘Meeting Point’. It is a time for Senior Citizens to come together and enjoy the company of each other as they have soup and sandwiches. Tea/coffee and cakes are also served.

You also get a chance each week to look at a hymn and see how it came to be written. There is no need to book, just come and there will be a welcome for you.

The atmosphere is good and fairly informal and relaxed. Even if you don’t know anyone there, you will soon make new friends.

Holiday Club 2009! Book your child a place at Holiday Club 2009 which will take place from 14-19th April 2009. It is open to all from Reception to Year 6, but spaces are limited. Please book early to avoid disappointments. For details you can contact the church office on 020 8866 0813 between 9 am and 1 pm Mon-Fri and ask for Pam or Bekah.
