Como parte del Comité Estatal de Manejo del Fuego, 13 brigadas de la Secretaría de Medio Ambiente, Desarrollo Sustentable y Ordenamiento Territorial (SMADSOT) participaron en las acciones preventivas contra incendios en las regiones Pico de Orizaba, Izta-Popo, Libres, Oriental y La Malinche, en conjunto con la Comisión Nacional Forestal (Conafor), Comisión Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas (CONANP), Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (Sedena), Protección Civil Estatal y 22 ayuntamientos.

Al respecto, la titular de la dependencia, Beatriz Manrique Guevara resaltó que, de acuerdo a las proyecciones, habrá una situación climática extrema con oleadas de calor y sequía, por lo que a través de esta coordinación y suma de capacidades, serán generadas mejores condiciones para la protección y conservación de los recursos naturales de Puebla. Además, llamó a la población para evitar prácticas que pongan en riesgo los bosques, como la quema agrícola, de llantas, residuos y pastizales.
