When he enrolled in the University to take the DATBAT course years back, he told the screening committee members that he really wanted to become a plumber. It had seemed odd to the screening committee members why he enrolled in the DAT-BAT curriculum that is because the Diploma in Agricultural Technology – Bachelor in Agricultural Technology seemed not quite directly related to what he had dreamed of becoming a top caliber plumber. It was not surprising, of course, for Pipoy to pursue his avowed ambition. After all, his grandfather was a plumber and so is his father, who, to this day is practicing his vocation. Pipoy finished his DAT-BAT course in due time, and true to his dream, he put up his own plumbing enterprise. Using the entrepreneurial skills he acquired in the school, it did not take him long to

develop and establish his own clienteles. No doubt, the reputation of his forbears in the plumbing jobs had helped him in his business. However, he also recognizes that his taking the DAT-BAT course had given him tremendous selfconfidence and has taught him to conduct his plumbing business as an honest-togoodness business. Today, he has become the favorite plumber not only in the municipality of Bayombong where he resides but also in the neighboring towns of the province. Because of the quality plumbing work he has established for years, his monthly net income could be compared if not higher than what an ordinary government employee is now earning. Pipoy, a sister attests, is really good at manging finances. He keeps complete records of all his transactions, which was one of the skills he

learned as DAT-BAT student Of course, Pipoy also puts to good use what he learned in his agricultural course. In fact, he is assisting his mother in managing their swine and poultry projects for which he receives a share in the profit. At present, Pipoy was able to develop a farm in Magsaysay, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. In the farm, he was able to plant different fruit-bearing trees like rambutan, chico, langka and others which he is now harvesting. He was able to establish his piggery and poultry project which provided him not only profit but also fresh meat and eggs for food. Over and above these supplementary income-generating projects, Pipoy said that he will always continue pursuing his first love – his plumbing business.
