Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia were named the new creative directors of Oscar de la Renta in July of 2016. They left Oscar de la Renta to start their own line “Muse” together. They later returned to Oscar de la Renta to become the creative directors.

Oscar de la Renta’s spring 2019 line is made up of old traditions in the company and new modern looks. The traditional skirts and dresses have been given a new relaxed look. Kim and Garcia used inspiration from their summer trips to India and Italy to create an innovated line for the company.

Demna Gvasalia started position as artistic direction at Balenciaga in October of 2015. He has previously worked for Louis Vuitton and Maison Margiela. In March of 2017, he was awarded the CFDA’s international award. Balenciaga’s spring 2019 line gives professional wear a vibrant look. Using neon colors and leather accents is key to every outfit seen on the runway. Key Items

• Taiwanese fashion designer Jason Wu started his own line in 2006. In 2005 he started his career working for Narciso Rodriguez. Wu designed the dress Michelle Obama wore to the inauguration in 2009. Since then he has started a line with Target and works with many celebrities. • Jason Wu’s spring 2009 collection is all dresses. It is a mix of elegant embellished and ruffled gowns and professional looks. Wes Gordon was raid in Atlanta, Georgia. He started out his fashion career interning at Oscar de la Renta and Tom ford. By 2009 he had his own line sold through Harrods and Saks. In 2018 he took the position of creative director at Carolina Herrera. Carolina Herrera’s spring 2019 line is filled with mostly occasion wear. Gordon used vibrant colors and mixing patterns to create a line that he described as “Happy Clothes”. Stacey Bendet started Alice and Olivia with a classmate in 2002. Her brand started to sell at Barneys. Since then she has opened freestanding boutiques in over 30 major cities. Alice and Olivia Spring 2019 is yet another line seen this year with vibrant colors and unique patterns. She used her set at fashion week to take viewers through different ”worlds” through her Wonderland line. Bendet says that the women wearing these clothes isn’t afraid to standout.
