MYZONE IS A FITNESS SYSTEM THAT USES TECHNOLOGY TO MEASURE THE HEART RATE DURING SESSIONS WHICH ALLOWS THE INSTRUCTOR OR PT TO MONITOR AND REVIEW YOUR STATS HELPING TO GUIDE YOU AND TWEAK ROUTINES TO ENSURE YOU ARE GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR EXERCISE. For a full body metric breakdown you will need to pair these scales with the Myzone app, it is here you will find a live data breakdown of your body metrics that includes your weight, body fat, muscle mass, water mass, bone mass, protein and mineral content, as well as providing
an estimate on the number of calories you should be consuming for your personal goals. The downside to this system is you need to grab your phone, switch on your Bluetooth and wait for the scales to connect every time you want a detailed reading, and like so many similar products of this nature, most of the time it syncs and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s frustrating but not a deal breaker. The Myzone MZ-20 scale is a great device to use alongside your Myzone fitness routine. Even if you don’t already use Myzone the information you gain through the scales can be used to track your health and improve your overall fitness. Best suited for those looking to monitor their body metrics on a regular basis.

You can also change the colour, I set ours to gently dim and become warmer from 10pm to wind down ready for bed which was rather pleasant. You can also play with the colours and use the preprogrammed Themes and Effects, I liked the Music Visual which uses your mic to listen to the music in the room and creates a disco theme to match. You can use voice control to switch on your lights and set the colour and brightness level via Google Home or Amazon Alexa, the light contains all the hardware you need to get started so even if you have no other smart home systems, as long as you have a compatible smart phone you can use it. This Bulb is functional on a day to day basis and entertaining at times, it’s easy to use and integrates well with your other smart devices, it is a little bulky and not the prettiest of bulbs, but this is forgiven as you can light up your room without having to move from your chair.

The shoulder straps are fully adjustable with a practical amount of padding, there is a removable waist and sternum straps for a more secure hold if you take the bag cycling or hiking, it also helps to distribute the weight more evenly over your body, however the waist strap could do with a little padding to make things more comfortable on longer trips. On the inside there is an easy to access padded laptop sleeve which will house a device up to 15” hidden in the back panel, there are also pockets for your tablet, phone, documents and office gear, an external zip pocket for valuables, with an internal key ring. When the main compartment is opened it can be difficult getting hold of items at the very bottom as the material is quite stiff although it doesn’t
help that my arms are short too. There is a fold away reflective strip and a section to clip on a light for better visibility whilst walking or cycling. The back is well padded but provides poor circulation so be prepared for some large sweat patches on your back at the end of the day. The Smith Roll Pack is an attractive and premium built bag, it is easy to load and unload with lots of pockets to keep your gear organised, however the poor ventilation and lack of padding on the hip belt means it can grow uncomfortable on long journeys.

The tracker itself comes in the form of a lightweight unit (21 grams), that securely fixes to the collar, due to its size however it is better suited for dogs rather than cats, although some more accommodating felines may put up with it. The Findster Duo+ doesn’t require a subscription and works alongside an app that lets you track your pet in real-time GPS even when you haven’t got any phone coverage. You can track up to three pets on one device from anywhere in the world, so you can double check if your partner has taken them out for that evening walk and not just let them out in the back garden. The unit is waterproof preventing damage if your pet decided to take a little dip or get caught in the rain, if youe pet does get away from you the Findster can locate them within a 3mile radius, however in built up areas this can be dramatically reduced to just 0.5miles. You can check your furry friend’s activity history on the app and revisit past walks and locations, you can set Virtual Fences which will notify you if your pet leaves your
defined safe area, whilst the Radar feature shows your distance from your dog or cat and guides you right to their location. The sharing option lets you share access to your pets with other authorised people, like family and friends, the built-in rechargeable battery will provide you with roughly 7 days’ worth of life depending on how much you use it, there is an RGB LED light that displays the module’s connection status. We would love to see a longer battery life as it would be sods law that the one time your pet runs off is that same day the battery ran out, the only other tweak would be a slightly reduced size so there would be a better chance of persuading cats to wear them. The Findster Duo+ is an accurate and easy to use pet tracker, giving you piece of mind to your pet’s location for a one-off fee, it’s not brimming with features but does the job.

The face fabric wetting out allows to shake off the water with a couple of graceful flaps, letting you stow it away once dry, the jacket weighs just 116g (size Large), it has a wider, comfortable cut, reinforced hem for easier closure of zip, elasticated hem, two-way front zip and zip tags for easy opening. It’s not always the case that you get what you pay for but in this instance it proves true, the 1985 is a comfortable, breathable waterproof and windproof wonder that can be shaken dry and packed down into a tiny compact package, best suited for 5° - 15°C rainy and w i n d y rides, you will not regret this one.

The Flow comes in the form of a lightweight unit (70g), it measures up at 4.9” (H) x 1.5” (W) x 1.3” (D), it has a polished steel body with a non-animal leather strap that can be used to attach the device to your belt, bag or pushchair. This unit is pretty straightforward, you press the indentation to wake up the Flow and the LED lights that surround this button will provide you with the results, green lights for low, yellow for moderate, red for high and purple for very high, blue will indicate it is setting up and white means it is loading. It works by attempting to reproduce outside air conditions inside the device, the holes carved all around the body create a 360 degree Air Intake, this combined with the smallest fan technology available, guarantees optimal air circulation. The Flow comes with a companion app which can be used to give you a minute by minute breakdown of the pollutants you were exposed to throughout your day by measuring realtime concentrations of NO2, VOC, PM2.5 and PM10. By using the Flow regularly, you are also helping to build an
air quality map by using your phone’s GPS, however you only get 24hours use per charge which is a shame. It is difficult to test the accuracy of the Flow as there is nothing to compare it too however, the results seemed to correlate to what we would expect, it flashed purple when we were cooking, orange in our living room, green outside in our garden and red out on our main road.

The first step to changing an issue is awareness and the Flow certainly opens your eyes to the quality of the air you are breathing, it is a simple and effective device that could help protect your health whilst drawing more attention to environmental issues.

touch of the handle, the size of this radio however doesn’t make it idea for small bedside tables, there is also a Kitchen Timer which will sound an alarm at the end of a countdown and a Sleep Timer which will put the radio into standby after a set period of time. The overall sound quality is ok, it’s not going to blow you away and the default bass is a little overpowering, the EQ settings can be tweaked to improve this, the high tones are sharp at times however the mid tones is where it performs best. This Evoke H6 looks great, but the build quality could be better, we found the right knob was sticking at 1 o’clock every time it was fully turned, it will remember the last station you used and makes it easy to flick though stations. The sound quality isn’t going to create a concert in your home but it is more than good enough to entertain you whilst you prep the dinner in the kitchen or potter about in the garage.

TEMPUR COMFORT PILLOW CLOUD IT WAS ONLY AFTER A TRIP TO AMERICA I REALISED HOW UNCOMFORTABLE MY PILLOWS WERE, IT BECOMES ONE OF THOSE THINGS YOU ARE SO USED TO YOU DON’T EVEN NOTICE UNTIL YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO COMPARE IT TO, IN THE US, IN EVERY HOTEL WE STAYED IN, EVEN THE SKANKIEST MOTEL THEY SEEMED TO HAVE THE SOFTEST PILLOWS AND NO LESS THAN ABOUT EIGHT PER BED (I’M NOT SURE HOW MANY PEOPLE THEY EXPECT TO SHARE A BED), ON MY RETURN IT FELT LIKE MY PILLOW WAS STUFFED WITH ROCKS. With a name like Comfort Pillow Cloud I had high expectations for this pillow from Tempur, designed in the familiar rectangular style it was a little larger than my old pillows at 74cm x 50cm but will still fit inside a standard pillow case and it is constructed from 98% polyester and 2% elastane. This cloud is filled with Tempur Extra-Soft micro-cushions which feel incredibly soft when you lay your head on it but at the same time provides you with support once you are in position. There is a cover on the pillow that can be removed and washed at 60°C, this is a great feature as most people don’t wash the pillows enough and if you think about all the sweat, natural oils, hair product, make up and skin products that come into contact with your pillow, it really needs washing regularly. You cannot wash the actual inner pillow as it will cause damage but with the Tempur cover and your own pillow case the pillow shouldn’t need cleaning, the covers are quick drying, but we would love to see an additional case included for when you do the laundry, they are available separately but will set you back £30 for one. The cover
has two different textures on either side, one smooth and the other with soft bobbles on, daily “fluffing and puffing” (technical term) is advised to maintain the product and it comes with a 3year guarantee. This pillow was pure bliss, I didn’t think I would ever consider it value for money, but it was so comfortable, the perfect combination of softness and support, it also regulated temperature well and held its shape , the only issue now is when I go away no pillow will be able to compete.

UNDER ARMOUR COLLECTION WOMEN’S UA VANISH ASYMMETRICAL LOW SPORTS BRA This bra comes in either Black or Purple, the latter colour seems a popular choice in the latest Vanish range, I am not a massive fan of the pastel purple (it could be worse, it could be pink) but the Black will suit me just fine. This bra has been designed for Low impact sports and it certainly means it, I decided to take a quick run on the treadmill after some weight training and bounced around rather uncomfortably. However, when it comes to weight resistance, Yoga, Pilates or even hiking it proved more than comfortable, the next-to-skin fit and soft removable cups enhance your shape and provide a pleasing profile both on its own
and under a sports top. The asymmetrical front mesh overlay provides a unique look but can look a little odd underneath vest tops as it cuts across the top of the chest. The material is stretchy, but the minimal ventilation on the back and the lack of a clasp means you must perform the over the head wiggly contortionist dance to take it off after a workout. The material is soft and silky against your skin which holds its shape well and dries quickly when needed. RRP £34

WOMEN’S UA VANISH LEGGINGS POISED GRAPHIC These fitted leggings feature UA’s Next-to-skin without the squeeze design that hug your skin but allow complete freedom of movement for all those horrible things like lunges, tuck jumps and burpees. These leggings are missing a draw string which would help prevent the threat of a builder’s bum during movements like mountain climbers, however there is an envelope back storage pocket designed into the waistband to store valuables that are easily accessible during the workout, no zips no poppers but secure. The highshine lacquered graphic looks great but the area around the knee started to crack after a few wears, whether this was due to the movement whilst wearing them or them suffering in the wash (washed on the designated cool sports wash) it clearly
can’t keep up with the four-way stretch construction that moves in every direction. The super-silky fabric provides support, it is also thick enough to smooth out any lumps and bumps and doesn’t reveal the pattern on your pants with every squat. The UA Microthread technology in the fabric dries faster, it doesn’t cling to your skin, doesn’t chafe or absorb sweat, it wicks the sweat away whilst the advanced seam placement eliminates pressure points or irritation. I felt secure and supported in these tights, the lack of a draw string means these will fall into my yoga, weight and lower impact class circulation. RRP £65

WOMEN’S UA VANISH SHORT SLEEVE This short sleeve workout top comes in four colours Grey, White, Purple and Pink, it looks simple in the front but rather unique at the back due to the cutout construction with ribbed and mesh details, you will certainly get some mad tan lines if you wear this out in the sun. The cut out panel provides a good amount of ventilation in the back all while the rest of the material wicks away sweat, dries quickly and doesn’t cling to your skin when you get a sweat on. The material is a little thicker than what I am used to, this creates a flattering and slightly concealed silhouette that’s slightly looser around the middle. This top has a dropped, shaped hem for enhanced
coverage and features the four-way stretch construction moves in all directions, the UA Microthread technology helps the fabric to dry faster and stretches without absorbing sweat. I found that this top would ride up when I lifted my arms up and would benefit from a little extra stretch around the shoulders to prevent this, due to the looser fit around the waist it would also ride up during movements like mountain climbers or downward dog, because of this and the ventilation in the back I would use this top for running and boxercise. The internal mesh brief liner helps moisture escape the shorts and adds ventilation for when you are working hard. The material wicks the sweat away from the skin, helping to keep you dry and cool whilst you work out, the encased elastic waistband has an internal drawcord to obtain a precise fit that stays in place. The open hand pockets allow
you to store keys or a phone on transit but they aren’t very secure and heavy objects will bounce around so it’s best to keep them empty whilst performing vigorous exercise. The 18cm inseam length provides a decent amount of coverage whilst the reflective logo adds a little visibility if running or cycling in urban areas.
