Industrias Peñoles: Encouraging young students for the FIRST Robotics Competition

Since 2011 Industrias Peñoles has supported high school students to participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition.

The organization provides them with a space to live the experience of a tournament where they work in teams, must be disciplined, enter the world of technology and science, and develop social skills.

Dice que, el que se les brinde esta oportunidad, es muy motivante tanto para él como para sus compañeros, ya que lo ven como una gran oportunidad de aprender y trabajar en equipo para resolver un problema.

Industrias Peñoles collaborates with the Colegio de Bachilleres del Estado de Durango (COBAED) Plantel 05 Bermejillo. The conjunction aims to promote science and technology. All this through the company’s sponsorship, advice, and guidance to the school team 7687 Corcebots 5.0. Currently, the goal is to participate in the First Laguna Regional to be held from March 22 to 25. The tournament seeks to improve processes through technology. The students build a robot and use and learn everything related to the operation of motorized instruments. This becomes a passion and incentive for the participating students.

José Manuel Ramírez Gutiérrez,

who is trained as a Clinical Laboratory Technician at COBAED’s Bermejillo Campus 05, shares that the robotics competition has taught him a lot, from being more disciplined to learning more about technology, its application, and areas he did not know, such as safety, administration, finances, as well as the construction of a robot.

He says that being given this opportunity is very motivating for him and his classmates, as they see it as an excellent opportunity to learn and work as a team to solve a problem. For him, participating in this challenge has led him to be able to choose a career that has to do with robotics or engineering because he has discovered that it is something he is passionate about.

“I didn’t know anything about this subject, and being on the team has awakened a great interest in learning more about these areas. Maybe mechatronics engineering can be something I can dedicate myself to, or some other area of engineering, something that has to do with building solutions through robotic systems,” he said.

Para él, participar en este reto lo ha llevado a poder ir eligiendo una carrera la cual tenga que ver con la robótica o con la ingeniería, porque ha descubierto que es algo que lo apasiona.

“Yo no conocía nada en este tema y al estar en el equipo se ha despertado en mi un gran interés por aprender más sobre estas áreas, tal vez la ingeniería mecatrónica pueda ser algo a lo que me pueda dedicar, o alguna otra área de la ingeniería, algo que tenga que ver con construir soluciones mediante sistemas robotizados”, manifestó.

Para José Manuel el apoyo de la empresa Peñoles para participar en el First, lo motiva a prepararsé aún más, de manera académica. Y mencionó que este reto te lleva a conocer cosas las cuales nunca antes había hecho.

“Siento un gran agradecimiento por Peñoles. Ya que nos da la oportunidad mediante su patrocinio de poder ser parte de una competencia tan relevante dentro de la ciencia y la tecnología a nivel mundial. Muchos chavos de nuestra edad compiten en todo el mundo dentro de este mismo reto. Y eso nos llena a mis compañeros y a mi de muchas ganas de obtener buenos resultados trabajando duro”, comentó.

Es algo que agradecemos mucho. Peñoles es un factor fundamental para nosotros, pero sobre todo para la Competencia de Robótica FIRST, al ser quien nos acerca a este reto

Por su parte la alumna, Melanie Barraza dijo que es la segunda temporada de First en la que participa. Y que esta muy agradecida con Industrias Peñoles por el apoyo, tiempo y recursos brindados al equipo estudiantil para seguir aprendiendo y compitiendo.

“Es algo que agradecemos mucho. Peñoles es un factor fundamental para nosotros, pero sobre todo para la Competencia de Robótica FIRST, al ser quien nos acerca a este reto”, concluyó.

“I am very grateful to Peñoles since it gives us the opportunity to be part of such a relevant competition in science and technology worldwide through its sponsorship. Many kids our age compete around the world in this same challenge. And that fills my classmatwes and me with a lot of desire to obtain good results by working hard,” he said. For her part, student Melanie Barraza said that this is the second season of First in which she has participated. And that she is very grateful to Industrias Peñoles for the support, time, and resources provided to the student team to continue learning and competing.

“It is something we are very grateful for. Peñoles is a fundamental factor for us, but especially for the FIRST Robotics Competition, being the one who brings us closer to this challenge,” she concluded.
