Marietta Restoration Associates (MRA), which hosts the event.
“This is our 58th tour, which makes us one of the oldest home tours in the state.”
The self-guided walking tour will feature eight private homes, including one that has never been on the tour before. Additionally, the event will feature activities at public buildings in Marietta and a variety of special events.
“We are also celebrating the 40th year of the small collector house,” said MRA volunteer Joanne Dancause, describing a memento of the event that tourgoers can buy. “These can be purchased on the day of tour at the Old Town Hall Museum.”
Proceeds from the tour benefit the MRA and are used for the upkeep and restoration of historic buildings in Marietta. The organization formed in 1965
when a group of civic-minded individuals recognized the need to preserve the town’s history and architecture.
“Your tour booklet is your ticket and includes a map of homes and attractions,” Baltozer shared, noting that the tour will feature free shuttle bus service, a local artist showcase,
Museum and more. “There are many restaurants and small businesses that are open on the day of the tour. Check out the map in your tour booklet/ticket to see the open businesses and their location.”

More than 45 local artisans, crafters and vendors will be

“Attendees enjoy the festive atmosphere and great variety of vendors that we have each year at the craft fair,” said Trish Hopper, Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) volunteer and event coordinator. “It’s a great place to do some Christmas shopping.”

There is nothing like celebrating the holidays in a small town.
The Maytown Civic Association will host a Square Lighting Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 30, in the square in Maytown from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The event is designed to bring the community together and usher in the holiday season.
“Festivities will include a quartet from the Donegal High School Rhythm Singers that will entertain and lead us in Christmas carols, a short message by
pastor Daniel Blank of Reich’s Evangelical Congregational Church, and an introduction of Maytown Civic Association and their role in the Maytown community,” said Cindy Wivell, president of the Maytown Civic Association. “Cookies and hot chocolate will be available, compliments of Paramount Senior Living, and monetary donations will be accepted to help fund the new Christmas lights and decorations for the Maytown Square.”

At Susquehanna Stage, 133 W. Market St., Marietta, a special holiday event will be held during the tour. “The Dickens Market has become an annual fundraiser for the Susquehanna Stage Company,” said Joni McCrady, a member of the theater’s events committee. “This event has been organized and spearheaded by Terry Carroll for the past several years.” The market will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 1.

Along with shopping for unique gifts, the Dickens Market offers the public a chance to explore Susquehanna Stage, she said. “Those visiting will have the opportunity

“This is a 5K run/walk event,” said race director Grace Wells. “Our racecourse is a 5K course, starting at EBIC, circling around the town, returning back to EBIC for the finish. We have stuffed turkeys on the course and a frozen turkey at the finish line for those who find one on the route.”
The event will also feature two free fun runs. “(We’ll have) one for the youngest participants who can’t run too far and then another for those who can run about a quarter mile loop. They can run up to four times for their mile,” Wells shared. “Our kids’ run is sponsored by The Tatted Toy Guys from Elizabethtown.”
