LEISURE SPECTRUM

Leisure Spectrum is an all-inclusive six-week program for those with special needs. Participants enjoy a variety of organized activities that involve exciting leisure and/or recreational activities.

Dates: Session 1:

March 7–April 18 (no Leisure Spectrum April 4)

Session 2:

August 1–September 5 Time: 5:30–8:00 p.m. Location: Drop off at the WREC Cost: $145 Ages: 15+ years of age

BOWLING

This is a month-long program for those with special needs to get involved in weekly bowling at Cherokee Lanes. Dates: Mondays in May (4 weeks) Time: 1:00–3:30 p.m. Location: Drop off at the WREC Cost: $50 Ages: 21+ years of age

LIL’ ROAMERS

Lil’ Roamers is a leisure outing program for youth with special needs. Enjoy an evening of bowling, pizza, and games with friends at Stars and Strikes. Date: Friday, May 12 Time: 4:15–7:00 p.m. Location: Drop off at The WREC Cost: TBD Ages: 9–14 years of age

COOKING FOR INDEPENDENCE

Learn important cooking techniques ranging from easy food preparation to advanced kitchen skills. This is an all-inclusive, four-week course. Dates: Thursdays in April and May Time: 5:00–6:20 p.m. Location: Drop off at the WREC Cost: $115 for the 4-week class Ages: 11+ years of age

LEISURE ROAMERS

Join us for a fun-filled day visiting with the animals at Hidden Acres Animal Sanctuary. Date: Friday, April 21 Time: 4:30–7:30 p.m. Location: Drop off at the WREC Cost: $15 Ages: 16+ years of age

MOVE IT MONDAY

This workout class is encouraging and motivating for all abilities. Work all muscle groups with a variety of strengthening and conditioning exercises each week that will be adapted for everyone! Dates: Mondays in March & April Time: 4:30–5:00 p.m. Location: The Buzz Cost: $25 Ages: 14+ years of age

WORKOUT WEDNESDAY

This workout class is encouraging and motivating for all abilities. Work all muscle groups with a variety of strengthening and conditioning exercises each week that will be adapted for everyone! SPRING INTO SUMMER FEST

Join us in saying goodbye to spring and hello to summer! Get your family and friends together and enjoy food, drinks, and music, and participate in a talent show! **Must bring own items for talent show** Date: Friday, May 26 Time: 5:00–8:00 p.m. Location: Cherokee Veterans Park Cost: $10 Ages: Any age; minors must be accompanied by an adult.

SOCIAL FRIENDS GAME NIGHT

EVERYBODY DANCE

Get ready to move! A variety of rhythmic music will spur interaction and physical fitness through dance. This is an all-inclusive 4-week course with monthly registration. Date: Thursdays in March, April, May, August Time: 6:30–7:15 p.m. Location: The WREC Cost: $36 Ages: 13+ years of age

CHEROKEE COURAGE BASKETBALL

This all-inclusive basketball program is for all abilities and skill levels. Practices will include learning skills and techniques. Participants will be split into appropriate age groups. HELLO SPRINGTIME: NATURE AND CRAFTS AT THE BUZZ

This class, led by Master Naturalist Graham Penniman, will include a nature walk on the Veterans Park grounds followed by a craft activity at The Buzz. Activities may include tree identification and leaf etchings, pine cone creatures, park planters’ raised beds, pressed flowers, and germination of spring flowers such as zinnias and mammoth sunflowers. Come and join this active and outdoor-based class. Date: Monday, March 27 Time: 5:00–6:30 p.m. Location: Drop-off at The Buzz Cost: $35 Ages: 15+ years of age

Therapeutic Recreation camps require an assessment for each participant prior to registration, to determine individual skill and ability levels.
