American Red Cross Safety Classes

For over 100 years, the American Red Cross has been preparing people with the skills and expertise necessary in an emergency. Our Red Cross courses and training are the best available, designed to keep you informed on the latest and most effective lifeguarding techniques while keeping the lives around you safe and in skilled hands.

LIFEGUARD CLASS

American Red Cross Lifeguarding classes are designed to teach you the basics of water safety and the proper protocol when dealing with emergencies in and around water. The Red Cross blends both traditional lecture-style with crucial hands-on training to teach you effective techniques to deliver prompt care to those in need. This course will teach you to respond safely and efficiently to water emergencies with lifeguard classes from the American Red Cross. Students who pass this class successfully will be lifeguard certified. Prerequisites:

→ This award-winning Blended Learning Course requires an online component of the course to be completed prior to the first day of class. → Students must be at least 15 years of age by the last day of class. → Students must pass a pre-course swimming skills test prior to taking lifeguarding courses.

When you take a first aid class from the American Red Cross, you gain skills to help others during times of crisis. Designed to last just a few short hours, our first aid classes can help you recognize the signs that someone needs help and administer the right type of care.

Location: Cherokee County Aquatic Center Time: 1:00–3:00 p.m. Cost: $65 Dates: March 19 April 23 June 25 July 9 Blended Learning: Featuring award-winning simulation learning, our blended learning programs combine self-paced, interactive instruction and in-person skills sessions. This Blended Learning Course allows you to learn on your schedule, then demonstrate your skills to a certified instructor. BABYSITTING + PEDIATRIC CPR CLASSES

The course provides aspiring babysitters with the knowledge and skills to care for children and infants safely and responsibly. This training helps participants develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe, help children behave, and learn the basics of childcare and first aid. Safe Kids of Cherokee County will be stopping by to present a course in Safely Administering Medication and Safe Sleeping. This course will also certify participants who meet the requirements in pediatric first aid and CPR.
